I'm not sure why I go so long without posting here. Maybe it's embarrassment that I'm going the wrong way and I've backslid horribly in taking proper care of myself. I'd hate to see what my A1C is right now. I'm eating my emotions and stress. Hello, carbs! I've always had a touch of FOMO (I had to look this up the other day because I had no idea what it meant, hahahaha) during the holidays, which was bad during the latter years of my marriage, went away for awhile after my divorce, and came back with a vengeance a couple of years later. This year the FOMO is aggravated by feelings of helplessness, futility, resentment, and a major sense of "This is not the way my life was supposed to be!" Some of those feelings will ease up after the holidays are over, but some will not. Ah well. Just keep plugging along, I guess. Sorry for dumping.

I'm not sure why I go so long without posting here. Maybe it's embarrassment that I'm going the wrong way and I've backslid horribly in taking proper care of myself. I'd hate to see what my A1C is right now. I'm eating my emotions and stress. Hello, carbs! I've always had a touch of FOMO (I had to look this up the other day because I had no idea what it meant, hahahaha) during the holidays, which was bad during the latter years of my marriage, went away for awhile after my divorce, and came back with a vengeance a couple of years later. This year the FOMO is aggravated by feelings of helplessness, futility, resentment, and a major sense of "This is not the way my life was supposed to be!" Some of those feelings will ease up after the holidays are over, but some will not. Ah well. Just keep plugging along, I guess. Sorry for dumping.

12/24/2021 - 189.6 (This was the night of our Christmas celebration. My son came down from Phoenix as it was basically the only day in the next two weeks or so that he was not doing something related to work. We had dinner, opened gifts, and went for a long walk through Winterhaven, a local neighborhood famed for its holiday decorations. I got a new laptop for me {woohoo!} so I'll be back here more regularly, plus tickets (for my girls and I) to see a special showing of one of my favorite movies, "The Princess Bride," with a live Q&A with Cary Elwes... and those tickets include a meet and greet with Mr. Elwes... SQUEEEEE! My children get me. Hahahahah! All I had to say to them (besides the shocked exclamation of "M*****F*****! For all three of us?" which they caught when they recorded my opening the gift - and said recording was shared by one daughter and my son, and by friends of theirs.... what the heck???) was "As you wish..." My kids get me. Of course, they're already teasing me about how awkward I was when I met Kevin Smith (the actor who played Ares on Xena, not the director) and how I have do better this time."

Woot! Woot! I’m here. Thanks, Jill, for getting this started. The new year brings the additional challenge of trying to recover from my weight slide back to sometime in 2020. Although I basically maintained throughout most of 2021, I totally fell off everywhere mostly between Hallowe’en and now. Alas.
My goals include (from most difficult to easiest):
🥤Drinking more water than diet soda
🥅 Staying within my calorie limits
📚☕Making sure I get some “me time” each day
😅🏃🏻♀️🚴🏻♀️ Exercising daily (at least 20 minutes total - not necessarily measured with a fitbit or other app since I don't have a fitness watch and I'm not allowed to carry my phone with me at work.)
📔 Tracking every meal
⚖️Weighing daily is a given for me, so this will be the easiest one for me.

December 3—208.1 pounds… there it goes up…Popeyes chicken sandwich, mashed potatoes, and Mac and cheese last night for dinner. I know better than to eat that much at night. Feeling stuffed this morning and needing to drink a gallon of water to quench my thirst. Logged it…Acknowledged it… and moving forward. Making a big salad for lunch! 🥗 Happy Day 3!
