@globalhiker
13AF days! Woohoo!!!
Pretty much half way through the month. Hoping that the sailing gets easier from here on out for you.
You seem to be really getting in tune with yourself.5 -
@CryingBlue how did you do your nails so well????? When I paint my own nails... there is nail polish everywhere despite attempts to clean it up as I go.
Had 2.5 drinks both Friday and Saturday, and I slept terribly both nights. Wide awake at 2:00 AM. Plus, my weight is up! All in all, did a terrible job keeping to my one drink limit. Normally I don’t like feeling buzzed, but this weekend, I totally did. Ugh.
Well, today is a new day. Back at it.7 -
Happy Valentine's Day!!
Me: 13 days AF straight
Wine Devil: 0 days
I am going to kick his butt this month!!
Husband on day 6 AF today. Thankfully, he likes the Coors Edge nonalcoholic beers the best, it was the cheapest of the assortment I bought for him.
Lisa, kindly send us the meditation link if possible.....:)
CryingBlue, awesome nails, and great job with AF!
Thanks Dawn, this is try #4 for me and I finally feel like I am getting somewhere.
I reflected on why I failed the past few times when it came to reintroducing drinking. I didn't give my head enough time to heal (needed longer AF stretch), never addressed learned behavior patterns of snacking and drinking to remedy everything, never made conscious attempts to re-program my thinking, never made a long term plan.
Instead I replaced drinking with eating. And when the AF diet was up, I then replaced eating with drinking!
Hence the reason why I was going in circles with no weight loss improvements and I did not learn ways to better change my thoughts and manage my emotions.9 -

good morning and happy valentines day everyone. so i sipped wine last night *the whole bottle lol* and i don't have a H/0. didn't sleep that great. but i don't feel like utter garbage. i also drank a lot of water in between glasses.
back to square one. i actually feel drinking once a month is possible *right now* . we'll see how i feel in a week

Last night was a real hard one for me. We actually drove in the snow up to the store for the soul purpose of buying alcohol. DH bought some whiskey and I some brandy. But later in the evening as DH was sipping I still had not opened the bottle......and never did! so I feel real proud of myself.
The downside? My weight has not budged for 5 days it has actually gone up!....crazy body10 -
Happy Valentines all. My husband is still stuck at work and will be sleeping there again. At least it will be a nice paycheck.
@Womona I use dip powders for my nails, brands like revel or sparkle and co. It def takes a steady hand, time, and practice. But these slime green nails should last me two weeks. Keeps reminding me of my childhood love for teenage mutant ninja turtles. 🐢
Staying AF. The cravings are getting less often, but I have been bad about my sugar consumption. I need to get my sugar under control now and of course one of my daughters made a 4 layer chocolate cake for Valentines day.8 -
Happy Valentine's everyone. Hope you are all having a good weekend.
Last night was a bust.
I don't want to think how many calories I consumed in both food and drink.
I did log it, but I'm not looking
On the positive side at least I had an AF day between drinking on Thurs and Sat, so that's something, and at least I logged my calories.
Total for Feb so far = 9 AF days out of 13
Goal is 20/28 AF

looks scrumptious! have fun and enjoy that wonderful meal8 -
2 glasses of wine by the fire this evening. DH made chili for dinner since it was cold outside ... yes ice and possible snow in Houston this week. Lots of left over bottles of wine from the party last night but not planning to continue opening them all this evening.
Happy Valentines Day!8 -
Had a late brunch at home after our hike this morning. 3 glasses of champagne and a nap.
So, I used to pride myself on being able to stop at just one drink. I realize I’m a bit of a unicorn in that regard. Well, this week, I really struggled and failed at having just one. Hubris! Ugh!

Hi
I originally decided to drink less in order to lose weight.
I have been on this thread since Nov 28.18
Thank you to @MissMay for keeping us going.
I am going to post with my usual diary style to keep track of my AF days.
I will be keeping to my usual goal of 16-20 AF days per month. It is manageable for me and doesn't put too much pressure on me. So far I have been able to keep with it. One month I raised the goal and failed miserably, so I learned from that. I think this is my sweet spot.
Friday Feb 12 - AF - I stayed in the house almost all day, it is cold here for another day or two. I have a half of a can of Spicy Caesar wrapped up in the fridge from the other day that was staring at me, I resisted.
Saturday Feb 13 - AF - Had to get 2 in a row. Not sure about tomorrow.
Sunday Feb 14 - Drinks
Rolling total 9AF days out of 14 days5 -
@Lilylady3k so happy your wine and cheese gathering went well.
@lisamestiza2021 congrats on your new meditation thread. I hope you have many followers 🤗
@CryingBlue I agree your nails look salon beautiful.
Our evening out was ok, food was not as great as it was hyped up in the advertising. The romantic atmosphere was sweet and the waitress was lovely. My cake I made at home was so much better than the dessert that they served us.
I did go over my planned 1 drink. There were 2 drinks each included in the Valentine's day package. Oh well........I attempted to give it to my husband and he said "really?". So I drank it.
Two more weeks left of February. I am so done with this weather. Get me to April 1st.8 -
So I went to church in person yesterday. First time in a looooong time. Knowing this is not a religious platform, I will just say I am strongly considering giving up alcohol for lent. That is 45 days (if you count Sundays which the faith doesn't because they are days of celebration). Even though I have a pretty good AF streak going right now, March will be a very difficult month as the hubs and I will be in FL with all our FL friends whose happy hours are on the social docket--every day. Double hard on boating days. My saving grace would be one friend who never drinks because she never liked it. I have two days to talk myself out of it.9

Day 15 AF is here, Day 7 for husband. Weekend was lovely and relaxing. Oddly, I had only 1 craving and 4 negative thoughts, and one bout of irritability (we were doing our taxes). At least no fights!
Week 2 AF turned out being easier than I expected. I lost 4 lbs so far eating anything anytime. One of the perks of AF8 -
Finally snow in Texas!!! My son was racing around outside building a snowman at 1 am, he hasn't seen snow in years he was only 10 when we left the UK. We are having rolling power cuts to conserve. I'm waiting for the power to come back up so I can have coffee, then going for a walk with hubby. It's so beautiful, makes me homesick a little more though, and it'll be hot again in a week 😄
AF last night, 10 AF days out of 14 so far in Feb 🙂9 -
Snow on the ground in Houston! I covered the plants outside. Loving all the flowers I placed all over the house for the party Saturday night. Here is a peak at a few pics I took of some of them.

I'm having the same struggle, I am doing great with my AF days, but failing to keep to the 1, or max 2 drinks on the days that I do drink.
@Tesha231 That sounds like a good plan, I would be tempted to join you for Lent if I were a little further in my journey.
@Lilylady3k Beautiful flowers!! Enjoy the snow, I am in San Antonio, it is pretty thick on the ground here. Loving it!7 -

This is so me in a nutshell! I get mad when I have stopped drinking to see no weight loss on the scale yet I am eating the same amount of calories! Working on it
Last night was 10 out of 14 AF days this month. DH blinked and had drinks Sat and Sun night and I stayed AF even though we made a trip to the store just for the alcohol. I feel very proud I did not open my bottle it sat on our kitchen counter all weekend. I just now put it down in the garage for safe keeping incase I want some later this week ..or not

@Lilylady3k GORGEOUS flowers and home!
@lmlmrn @globalhiker & hubs - great willpower!
@lisamestiza2021 selected your video last light to meditate myself to sleep. Loved the mix. Just need to work (a lot) on honing my focus.
@MissMay Such a sweet gesture to remember those you cherish with lovely cakes.

Much of Houston is without power ... two of my kids homes don't have it and it might not be back on until tomorrow. We have power at my house ... wish they could drive here but the roads are not cleared and overpasses are closed. Though I taught my kids how to drive in snow and ice ... most Houston drivers don't so beware the other guy.
Keep warm!
Thank you everyone for the compliments on the flowers! I'm loving them. I have flowers all over the house in about 4 more places. Also have a colorful bouquet of tulips that my son brought me
Trader Joe's has a good deal on flowers ... double dozen of tulips, 3 hydrangeas, bunches of mini roses, baby's breathe for about $27.

Oh yes we are staying home, yesterday there was a fire truck overturned and they asked people to stay home so that first responders stay safe too, one of them was taken to hospital, thankfully no deaths.
Our power is going in and out, it will be off for about half an hour, then out again for a while, and back on randomly. The news said they are doing rolling cuts to conserve power, I expect they are prioritizing hospitals etc.
I always used to drive in snow in the UK, but due to it being quite frequent they are more geared up for it over there with the council sending out 'gritters' when snow and ice are forecast.
It is wonderful to see the kids here running around making snowmen and having fun, it has been such a difficult year, it is good to see the little ones having fun again
Hope you and your kids are staying warm and safe!4 -

the white is so fresh, but those dove chocolates - omg... mmmmmmmmm7 -
Saturday I slipped on the alcohol banana peel and slid backwards. We went away to friends house for an early valentine dinner becaue neither couple was available Sunday night.
There was champagne. Lots of champagne. I think I drank an entire bottle myself. Because we were spending the night I let my gaurd down. Then over drank with beer on Sunday at home. At least my GF was not angry with me.
Tonight no booze.

@Lilylady3k
Beautiful flower arrangements. You are our own Martha Stewart with your decorating, party planning, and gourmet cooking.
Are those flowers from your own garden?
Kind of jelly that those of you in Texas are getting snow and we haven't had any snow where I live in Canada since very early in the season.6 -
@CMB44512
You have been doing very well nephew.
Glad that your GF wasn't angry with you on Valentine's Day!4 -

Sunday Feb 14 - Drinks
Monday Feb 15 - AF - Going to try my best to be AF tomorrow too although Tuesdays are my trigger days.
