I drink this ... or there are also hazelnut and vanilla. No need for milk, cream or any of that white stuff and no need for anything sweet. All the nice strong black coffee flavour with just a hint of something extra.

Hi everyone! I'm pretty sure I used to post in this thread, but it has been a little while. I wasn't in a place to post much after October 1, 2019. My DH was diagnosed with brain cancer on this date and my world turned upside down. He only lived four months after his diagnosis. It has been just a little over a year since he passed. I am trying to get back to taking better care of myself. 2020 was so blah in so many ways. I am definitely ready to "lighten up" things in 2021. I have been trying to walk more lately and I have been trying to make better food choices. I really have a vested interest in losing weight. I want to lower my A1C and I need to take some pressure off of my arthritic knees and lower back. I was recently diagnosed with spondylolisthesis and spondylosis of the lower back that causes me a lot of pain. I also suffer from osteoarthritis and fibromyalgia. Much like many women my age (54), I've had a hysterectomy and suffer from hot flashes also. I'm not complaining, I just wanted to share in case any of you had similar health issues and needed to share with someone who could relate. I have a grand-daughter, who will be 3 in March. She is such a blessing and the light of my life! I want to be a healthier version of myself for her. I'm open to any low-impact and strength training ideas and I can always use a good laugh along with a swift kick of motivation!

Machka - I like adding the non-fat milk as it helps me get calcium, as I am not a milk drinker (really don't like any of the milk or milk like products, and don't do cereal)... but I have never seen that item in our stores. I am not really a fan of the "strong black coffee" flavor - I'm a light weight.
I managed to make it through menopause with no symptoms at all, but one of the things that may have helped is I am on a no caffeine diet. So all my coffee and tea are de-caffeinated or herbal (tea); and very limited chocolate. No soda.

I'm down to 1-2 cups of coffee a day, early in the day, and that's just about it for caffeine. My most common beverage is water.
I used to drink a lot of diet coke, but my consumption has gone way down in favour of water.

Had to dash out today to get loose, light-coloured pants that fit.
Bees apparently prefer light colours!
I don't wear pants very often and especially not light-coloured ones so finding a pair was a real struggle. I did not want white. White pants are just asking for trouble - 2 seconds after I put a pair on I will spill my coffee on them then go out and fall into a mud puddle. But the majority of pants in the stores right now are either black or white.
The other problem is that most are very tight-fitting and short. Ankle-length (rather than floor-length) is popular now. But I have long legs so ankle-length just looks wrong on me ... they don't sit where they are supposed to and they make me look like I'm wearing ill-fitting hand-me-downs.
Finally, after much looking, I found a pair of khaki-coloured pants that fit me, are loose, and are long enough.
Then I had to find long white socks! That's another thing I don't have in my collection.
All this to go play with the bees tomorrow.

Good morning everyone! I just wanted to share this info. I was having a really hard time getting enough protein in my diet, so a friend recommended I try premier protein drinks with 30g of protein and only 1g of sugar. I was really hesitant, because all I could think about was the nasty after-taste of other protein drinks that I had tried in the past. I finally took the leap, and to my very pleasant surprise, the drinks are rather tasty and it's an easy 30g of protein.. So far I have tried the chocolate and the cafe latte. The cafe latte is my favorite so far, but the chocolate is also good. I was just wondering if any of you have tried these drinks and what flavors? I'm thinking of trying the peach next.

Sue: Would love to see a photo of the granny rectangle afghan you are working on for your brother! How is he doing? Is he the one that was admitted to hospital for the pneumonia? A few years ago I made my brother an American Flag afghan. It turned out pretty cool, except I crocheted 100 stars (approx 3") and had to stitch them to the afghan once I was finished with it! Of course, being the perfectionist that I am, I had to stitch stars to BOTH SIDES of the afghan - so I stitched them to each other through the afghan. My mom laughed when I said "I'll never do THAT again" because evidently she had made a flag afghan some 20 years ago and had problems with the stars as well!

RvRita: I'm sorry you're not feeling well. It's awful when the docs can't determine what's wrong. My DH went through that all last summer. Went to numerous docs and had numerous tests… he felt awful and just kept after them. Two days before Christmas he was diagnosed with follicular lymphoma. He's trying to get his COVID vaccine before he starts his chemo. (Not having much luck).
Margaret: So glad that your DH doesn't have to drive so far after all! Woot!! 😷

Katla so sorry about your cat. Glad you are no longer by that neighbor.
Tracey so sorry about your pipes. We are not as cold as you and I worry about that here. Son's house has poorly insulated walls so I upped the heat to 68. I ususally leave it cooler than that and then opened all his cabinets along the walls and the interior cabinets too. I did not leave water dripping that is another technique used here to keep pipes from freezing. So far so good. When we got our new shower years ago it froze up in weather like this. I had to go up into the attic and cover the area above the shower with old blankets and anything else I could think of. We have not had a problem since.
I tried to get Drew out first thing this morning to do her business. When I came at her with her coat and she went straight into her crate. When I talked about going out she shook her head. Right now -10 so I cannot say I blame her.
Teresa keep trying the pharmacies and Walmart. They should be getting more doses every week. Once I figured out Walgren's system it was nice to be able to get both shots scheduled at once. One thing I will recommend is make a copy of your appointment with the identfying number right away. Walgren's wants this at shot time. I easily got mine but having some problems getting DH copy. I did write down the number so I hope this will be enough.
A friend unfortunately her birthday got listed into her husband's account at Walgren's, so until she straightens that out she will have to try CVS and Walmart.
Friend and I talked about how getting the shot here is made too difficult. The application process is too complicated and confusing. I would also like a better system to get it to who needs it the most first.
What helped me get this done was all those forms I had to fill out for our trust and our son.
Even with that being said I think there were too many steps to get this shot. It should be as easy as getting a flu shot. Hopefully they will get it to this point quickly.2 -

Im up and showered and have laundry in the dryer.. thats say something...they visiting nurse took the wound vac off yesterday and after the shower i put the blessed life vest back on..i have figured out a way to take wet laundry down to laundry room...
I have stretchy cord that i use for exercise. And i use that to drag it down to the laundry room without hurting myself.
Tom came and picked me up last night to take Alfie to the vet.. he needed one shot and a once over... i cant pick him up.so Doc did that.. my car is at the garage getting an oil change .
I have to go do bloodwork today,my brother taking me and picking up script at pharmacy .then home...and the PT coming i think at 11..7 -

My parents are having trouble registering for the vaccine because they use the same email address. The computers can't handle that.
I'm sorry I don't have a picture of my handwoven lace valance. It was a blue grey subtle plaid. I sewed a horsehair braid (plastic nowadays) to one edge to hold the curtain hangers. It came out really nice. It's in storage in Virginia with all my stuff.
Sorry to hear about all the hot flashes and troubles. It makes me wonder what the lady politicians are doing. It may become more commonplace one day to see them sweating.

Margaret: My cat was poisoned by a neighbor who lived across the street in about 1978. Our next-door neighbor told us about his poisoning cats the day that we moved away. I seriously doubt that my cat was his only victim. That was a long time ago and it still makes me sad when I think about it. :ohwell:

We are on the county health department list of people 70+ who will be vaccinated for CoVid 19. They’ve said we’ll be called to get our vaccinations on 2/22 or 2/23. I hope it is true. It will depend on whether the county receives vaccine.
The weather forecast calls for snow tomorrow. If it snows, it will be the first time we've had snow in a few years.

The Zoom with the new-to-us coach went ok. Bit of chaos, but only to be expected with 35 or so old people, some very old! He was congratulated on having no 'tiara or tantrums'!
I went upstairs and managed half an hour rowing, while I played my German videos. I must admit I am pleased with myself as I got very little sleep last night, about 3 hours, and I feel absolutely knackered.
Waitrose delivery came a few minutes early. We have three freezers and I don't think I have an inch to spare in any of them. Some of it is bread, which takes up a lot of space. Apart from vegetables and milk I think we are set for a month or so!!!

Had Spaghetti Puttanesca for dinner. I absolutely love it and get an added glow from the frugality. I have recently developed a passion for wholegrain spelt spaghetti. Nutty and delicious. Cabbage with it.
DH is now on his 4th jigsaw. I started him off on his birthday last October with Flags and Capital Cities of the world. Then for our anniversary it was the Periodic Table. He bought himself a 1,000 piece one of the Tree of Life and now he's on the States and Capitals of the USA. Keeps him occupied in spare moments. This afternoon I was able to grab a 30 minute nap on the sofa, while he fiddled on the dining room table.
Lisa - The sister one is intriguing. Might look at that on a browse through.
DH has football tonight in his study. I will catch up with Spiral on BBC iplayer. Can't go on Netflix because others might be using it. Afternoons only.
Trying a new AF beer tonight. It's more calories than my usual one, partly because it's a bigger bottle. I like it. Nice with food. Ghost Ship by Adnams. We used to live near the brewery.

I’ve been watching CNN reporting from the US Senate. I am a retired US history teacher, and this is of interest to me. I’m now taking a break. I’m sure they can get along without me viewing the events for a while.
It is snowing!!!! I will be surprised if it sticks. Our last bit of snow was 2017.

Another cold day here. High of only 8. Sounds like starting tonight and into Sunday we are to get up to 5 inches more snow. Guess I don't care as I will be working everyday and DH is real good about warming the car up and have the seat warmers going when he picks me up or brings me to work. I am very spoiled.

The vaccine program that started out so awkwardly last month has been improved and now people 65 and over can make appointments online or by phone. For most, it is a drive-through event monitored by police and trained volunteers. My community has an extremely high percentage of seniors. The town is known as the place where old people go to visit their parents.
