walked with my friend yesterday evening. First really long walk since before I got sick- Felt great!!! A bit nippy and was very glad to have my mask on beings it cuts the cold air I am breathing. I did have to do a nebulizer treatment when I got home but, by the end of the night, I was at 14,000 steps!! I have only been at 10,000 once since getting Covid.
Happy to be getting my energy back- it has been a while.

We have snow on the ground which is rare. I can see a large number of geese on the island across from us. They are grouped together at the very edge of the island next to the river. Maybe they were picking up sand. The geese have flown away.

Deb--So sorry to hear about the passing of Savannah Belle.
Tracey--Sorry to hear about Dillon passing. I think it is terrible that family can not be with them. I know at the hospital I work at has changed the visitor rules for different patients and letting family be there. Sending prayers and hugs to you and all the family. I am very Blessed with my DH and I need to remember that when I get upset about things.
KateUK--Your first pair of gloves look warm and I enjoy the colors. Great job!
KJ--Happy dance for your group license. Know you have been working on that for a long time.
Only to bottom of page 38, but out of time.

This coming week is orientation week at the university in advance of classes starting on Monday 22 Feb.

But I do not have to be there! I am not attending classes this year! WooHoo!

Instead, I am still working my way through the dressing room. If all goes well, I'll finish most of it today. I do have to wrap it up because we have a house inspection next week. When you rent here, there are house inspections about every 3-4 months. After the house inspection I'll do the last remaining touch ups in that room.

Machka- Bee keeping is so fascinating! I imagine for something like that, you are either all in or not. There really isn't a "I will just get a few bees" sort of area for beekeeping. lol BUT, wow, the benefits of bees...

I'm thinking that one hive will do, my husband would like two hives. I'd prefer to start with one and am hoping to convince him of that.

We do have to check what the council by-laws are regarding bees. We know what they are generally in the state but each council can be different.

Then I'm hoping to be able to take a hive-building class if possible. The place we took the beekeeping course also runs Warre Hive building courses, but not right at the moment ... maybe close to winter.

Good morning all! Happy Saturday! I don't think I checked in yesterday; I got my group license! Yea! I am in no rush to fill up spots and have 12 children in my house. I may take one or two (which would give me a daily total of 8 or 9 kiddos, depending on the day). I want to have the space/energy to allow the two kindergartners to be here if school shuts down again this year. I also have one family that is pregnant with their second child; baby due in Sept (due in care in December). If I have things organized the way I would like in my back yard this spring, I will take on more kids in the summer. My plan, is to move to a "Forest school" set up. Have the kids get used to spending 80-90% of our day outside while the weather is warm and agreeable; that way when it cools down in the fall; they will be used to being outside and their little bodies will acclimate to better to the gradual temp change. My plan is to use half of the garage as a "warming shelter/nap shelter". Hopefully, my youngest will be out of the nest by October. (I love him dearly, but it is past time)

    Congratulations!

Did a yoga DVD. I think I’ll cancel my membership to Workout Anytime. I see that Anytime Workout has a classroom. I never realize how much I needed a classroom or at least some place where I can exercise and not disturb others. I just can’t do a month of nothing but cardio and I don’t think I’ve used machines in about 10 years. To me, they isolate the muscles too much. Probably good for rehab, tho. The one machine I have used is the assisted dip, otherwise, I haven’t used them. Also, many times you’re sitting so you’re not using your abs.

Weather is supposed to be in the 80’s today and in the 70’s tonight. I think I’ll wear shorts and maybe take a pair of pants with me in case I need them. Update: I wore pants since it was cloudy. Took my sweater and wore it. The breeze was chilly since we are high up, but had to take it off when we were leaving.

Went to the workout place to cancel my membership. I did send an email yesterday, but it was thru their website so I don’t have any proof I sent it if it gets “lost”. Going there I was told that the guy who can issue the refund can’t do it until Monday. Even tho the guy at the desk wrote a note that I want to cancel, I can see that getting “lost”. So I also sent a message by Facebook with dates, etc. That’s the only way I can think that I can have proof of my intention. Then I went to the other workout place but only members can get in on Sat. or Sun, you need an appointment otherwise. So…I went to Brevard Charities but there wasn’t a parking space and I had no intention of waiting –it’s not that important. So I went to the SPCA thrift store. Got two yoga DVD’s, not that I really need them. Also got a bowl to take this salad to a lady I will be seeing, we’ll probably go to her house so I should take something with me. I can’t find the yoga mat I could have sworn I brought down here. Also couldn’t find the box of cheerios so we bought more, no biggie

Heather – Bea looks so happy and I’m sure she is, seeing you and getting her coat. It’s so pretty

    Kate – beautiful gloves

    Beth – what icles!

Went up to Daytona today and will go again tomorrow. Vince is talking about going to the road course there next weekend and I think that might be interesting if he goes

    Gonna get ready for bed.

I have already mentioned that we’ve had some snow! YAY!!! Snow is a rare thing around here. We’ve enjoyed the beauty and looking out to see the view. We have enough food on hand that we have not needed to go food shopping. I have a short list of things we don’t have at home just now. Maybe we’ll go and shop for them tomorrow. We’ll see what the road looks like in the morning.

Tracey - So sorry for your pain. (((HUGS)))

I was especially happy to have run home from the park yesterday. No doubt seeing the grandchildren gave me a boost of adrenalin! It's been a while now since I went running, partly weather, partly my gluteal tendonopathy. I was beginning to feel discouraged and that I would never run again. It's definitely given me a bit of confidence. Strangely, I hardly realised I was doing it to start with, as I was all dressed up in my big quilted coat and my bag on my back. Somehow I broke into a gentle trot out of sheer joy. <3
My son wants us to all meet up at Devil's D y k e next weekend. That means me getting in a car for the first time in over a year. I don't want to, as the last three times I have been driven by DH there has almost been an accident. However, I realise that I have to do it sometime. I will sit in the back and not look out. I really can't avoid it for ever, but I don't want to go on motorways. The downs are only a couple of miles away. It really has developed into a phobia for me, but DH's driving skills are very rusty with the lockdown. The car has sat outside for months on end.

Valentines Day today. I did a very rush job on the presents, but got them wrapped! Just about to make a cup of tea. :D<3

Skimmin’ as I’m pretty sleepy. What the heck DID I do Friday and Saturday… obviously didn’t move enough and ate way way too much.

    Tracey, I set our DVR to record Young Sheldon and surprise! There was a marathon and I got 28 episodes including most of season 1. Binge watched season 1 Friday and Saturday, oh, maybe that’s why my sugar intake was up and steps down. Thanks a lot ;}
Julie sorry to confuse. “Chose well” and “Bonus” are things I actually did. “Get to do” is my to do list, you’ll see some things have been on there forever… ;} The fire district work is self interest, we live in a drought-stressed forest.
    Kate  the gloves.
Machka beautiful pics … and the reserve is pretty too ;)
Debbie in Napa ((hugs)) so very very sorry to hear about Savannah Belle. She was a beauty. ((hugs))
Michele that hydromassage chair sounds very attractive. Was it warm? “…God will take it away”
Barbie were you and Jake planning on the now-cancelled drive through vaccination clinic? So very sorry for your friend’s neighbors family. What a sad sad time.
Tracey hard as it must have been for his parents, I have to believe hearing them helped Dillon’s passing. So very very sad. Loved hearing the Valentines day reunion story… and the sink-for-whiskey trade ;) So sorry for your pain, it is so exhausting. Are you able to sleep?
KJ con VERY gratulations on your so well deserved license.
Welcome @lorri68 ! Would you let us know what you’d like to be called and your general locale?
Heather  Edie’s expression playing the cello and Bea’s trying on her new coat ;)
Rebecca likewise  Athena Rose in her hooded snow suit.
    Beth stunning icicles pic!
Penny ((hugs)) and prayers for your nephew.

3 or 4 power outages today but longest was only 3 hours. Served to remind me to be grateful for being able to get food out of fridge/freezer, use oven (propane but uses electricity to maintain temp), power up laptop, charge cell phone and flush toilet (water pump runs on electricity).

    Lighter, lovelies!

So sorry to hear the sad news about Dillon. Aww but so sweet the couple in the residence got to be together again. <3

    Debbie
So sorry for your loss, as Barbie said, we don't have our furry friends long enough. It must have been very distressing seeing his seizures. <3

Michele I had a flashing in my right eye, a bit like lightening. I remember my friend had something similar and it was quite serious so made an appointment straight away to see the optician. Nothing serious in my case, could be the start of cataracts (great!) but all okay, nothing to worry about. Put my mind at rest. I have an appointment to see the eye specialist at the hospital in March as changes were found to my cornea at my last eye test, but trying to not to worry about that.

It's freezing here, on dog walks I'm wearing extra layers- cardigan, waistcoat, ear muffs, hat scarf, gloves and leggings. makes it a bit difficult when having a hot flush though :D I'm pulling off my hat and scarf like a crazy person. My daughter says I go very pink and breathless, it makes me feel quite ill sometimes. I'm having terrible night sweats at the moment too, far more than I normally have. Who was it that said getting old is not for the faint hearted!

I'm still catching up but in the meantime take care <3

@auntiebk Barbara, thanks for explaining the "Chose well” , “Bonus” and“Get to do”.

Cold here, by our standards. Yesterday a bit of a, off day, a bust. Decided to make today an off day.
Had to kick butt a bit to get myself out for a walk, but went for an hour and a half i think; very sunny, got an espresso to go at bakery on way out, and a relatively light GF pastry to go on way back.

    Lowkey stuff today, no pressure:
    options :
    20 min recumbant
    10-20 min arm/upper body
    15 min meditation
    make GF brownies to freeze
declutter 15 min (bathroom or closet near bathroom)

Tracey - ongoing, unrelenting pain is exhausting. Take of yourself, my friend, and stick to the restrictions.

Penny- many hopes for good outcomes for your grandson. Thinking of you and your family.

Allie - every time I see you post, it lifts my heart.

KJ - Congrats on getting that license! It must be gratifying.

The snowstorm is showing on the weather radar, and should begin in a half hour. The high today is supposed to be 10 degrees and the low tomorrow night will be -1 F (-18 C) Four days ahead that won't rise above freezing, so we're headed into the deep freeze that those west of us have seen already. Fingers crossed the snow is powdery and not sticky--the wet stuff does so much damage to trees and power lines. Should the electric go off, we've got a generator ready and tuned up to support the freezer/fridge, etc., and can sleep in the living room by the fireplace if necessary. While we have gas heat, the thermostat is electric, so the heat will be off.

In the meantime, writing for pay in the mornings, enjoying my afternoons and reveling in the overall sense that my own health is on the way to recovering. It's tiny increments, but I feel a little better every day. Picked up a set of free weights on Friday that span from 2.5 pounds up to 40 pounds. Did a round yesterday and my upper body strength is GONE. At 2.5 pounds, I was pushing hard to get them up in the air. I'll get it back, it will just take time.

    Love y'all,

For me, it would be 1 or 2, depending on mood and time of year.

The thing is, I could just about have 1 at home. Hopefully by the end of 2021 I'll have things sorted and organised and kind of have a 1. :)

Following info is for those who are experiencing cold and snow.

Lisa preventative measures so your pipes don't freeze with the cold that is coming are raising your heat a few degrees (I know the temptation is to turn it down some to save money) open up any cabinet that has pipes in it. This includes interior cabinets. I raised son's home to 70 degrees because of the cold we had last night. It also helps to create a small drip at faucets so water is moving through your system. It is bad enough dealing with the cold and the snow no one wants freezing pipes in the mix.

Beth If you are getting those icicles this means your attic area is not insulated enough. The warm air from your home goes up and melts the snow on your roof. Son's house had some of this a few years ago. I got better insultation for the atitic and a solar vent so the attic space stays at the same temperature as the outside air. Icicles are minimal now because of this. Some people use snow rakes to get rid of the snow on their roof. I have used these but they are a pain. Then so is an ice dam and the damage that causes. Even removing an ice dam is awful they use hot water and that creates puddles of ice around your home. It is also hard to get a good reasonable company to do this work because the demand gets so high.

Our thermostat battery went out last night. DH caught it and our mid level where this thermostat is went down to 59 degrees. We aslo suffered a brief power outage. Scary in this -18 actual temperature. So if you haven't changed those batteries in a while those of you who are going into the deep freeze like us, it might be worth changing those.

We unfortunately right before our deep freeze got freezing rain. I got out and scrapped our driveway and sidewalk while temps were warm enough for salt to work so we have one of the few sidewalks and driveways that do not have ice. I rarely use salt on our driveway and sidewalk but this was one of the times I made and exception because our driveway and sidewalk have an incline. Having those yaktracks have made a tremendous difference too.

#4 You had me at Pool! I would so love my own pool. Can it be in NYC or Paris please and not in lockdown.

I'm loving having the blinds and curtains open and the roof blind open. Our living room doors are open again to the dining room. Light! Warmth! The temperature has finally taken a turn for the better! Such a relief. :D DH has taken off his longjohns. :p

We had blinis, crême fraiche and faux caviar for lunch with spiced rum and soda. I've ordered the fish and chips and mushy peas for this evening. Hooray! Feels weird not to be cooking! A bottle of vintage champagne is in the fridge.
Presents went well this morning. :p Had a minor panic when we presented each other with the same sized wrapped hard back. :o Luckily they were different.

Going to row for 30 mins and cycle for 15 while I watch Call My Agent.

We have ice all over the ground today and more freezing rain coming. Another day indoors! Steven sent me flowers. Yay! The romance continues, despite the pandemic.

:) None of those houses seems appealing to me. I am so comfy in my own house that nothing else seems like a good choice.

:)Barbara The vaccine clinic wasn't the one we'll go to. We don't get our second jab until March 5. I just thought it was interesting that weather would interfere with the carefully choreographed plan to vaccinate as many people as possible. Anyone scheduled for Saturday could come to the clinics Tuesday, Thursday, or Saturday next week.

:) No more snow overnight. roads are sort of slick but we can walk mostly on the gravel and grass so we'll go out as usual. I'll walk with my regular friend this morning but the Sunday only friend decided to cancel.

    :) Grocery pickup this morning.

:)Heather, Hooray for running a bit. I knew you would bounce back.
