I have put m&m's on salad
I have put m&m's on salad
Disagree all you want but
STILL, I've physically placed innocent little m&m's on top of a salad and then dug my fearsome teeth into them and consumed them!
People put dried grapes on salad, which is ALSO something I've done!
People put dried cranberries that have been dipped in sugar and had a passing acquaintance with oil on salad which is ALSO something I've done!
I have put prunes on my salad after they were pitted, shriveled, lightly oiled, and shoved in a sealed package that was shipped across the continent.
And apples both local and imported from New Zealand both with and without a copious amount of wax.
But not applesauce: I have standards, you know?
I've even put yogurt on my salad.
Deal with it.
It's a SALAD!!!!I have put m&ms on salad

The disagree trolls are on this thread🤷🏻♀️
3 people disagreed with the OP which says "my calories today came from these foods." I'm trying to figure out what grounds a person could disagree with that on. Maybe that word doesn't mean what a lot of people think it means.
Now I have to go watch that movie or the quote is going to be stuck in my head all day.
Maybe people have a hard time distinguishing disagree from dislike or disapprove, dunno. The amount of disagrees on people’s personal experiences on these forums is baffling sometimes.
I might still try M&M’s as salad topping. I’ve tried and loved dried cranberries, fresh blueberries, fresh strawberries, all kinds of fruit imaginable in a salad. I like something sweet in there. The one thing my salads don’t often have is lettuce.
I think that once you are heavily disagreed with once it just follows you forever (and you might as well just embrace collecting them ...)
I had someone disagree with a question I asked yesterday. How do you disagree with someone asking a question?7 -
What a FUN thought and experiment...M&M's on Salad...then someone put a picture of an M&M Salad....Thank you for the topic!! I enjoyed. I am allergic to chocolate...but LOVE M&Ms. I am at 31 days Processed Sugar Free!! I am a Sugar Addict...and had to do something drastic. Even reading this topic did not lure me to my OWN M&M's jar I am hiding in the Pantry.! Thanks again!! :):)
I *almost* hit disagree because I don't think you can hide something if you know where it is!
I think I might have to take my bag of m&ms to my car so I'm not tempted to open it.2 -
Once upon a time I was of the camp that fruit did not belong in lettuce based salads. Have since enjoyed apples, raisins, dried cherries/cranberries, mandarin oranges and more. So since I can see that 'sweet' can work in a salad, it is not totally far-fetched that M&Ms would NOT work also.4

I remember somebody running for a position in NYC government a few years ago. She admitted to eating and enjoying blueberry bagels. Nobody voted for her.
You've seen the original ghostbusters, right? Remember "don't cross the streams?" Or pandemonium will be unleashed, dogs and cats living together, stuff like that? That's a metaphor for not mixing sweet and savory foods. Except for dark chocolate pretzels. These are the first two commandments that Moses lost when he dropped the tablets.11 -

I think "hide" was not a good word. Rather, just out of the way...since I am not tempted...no need to hide...thanks for the correction3 -

LOL I actually didn't even really mean it as one. I have an overflow of chocolate and cookies (but not chocolate cookies...weird) and have them in my closet...out of the way. But I always make my way to them when I'm not ready yet.3 -
I have an unopened party size bag of plain m&ms under my desk at work.
Just sayin'....
I’m here to tell you that it is very possible to indulge and still stay within your goals. I over indulged and still made it. I did go to bed hungry but not hangry. I stuck to mainstream foods today. I don’t know if I’d recommend the large shareable bag of m&ms though.

I enjoy mixing flavors and I have had sweet things in my salads many times before - mostly fruits. I had never thought of M&Ms but I'll be damned if I'm not going to try that as soon as possible!
And to all the disagreers out there, knock yourselves out. This one is on the house.1 -
I think chocolate covered raisins would be good too.3

Maybe we need to start thinking about ourselves as minor online celebrities, since someone cares enough to follow us around to disagree. This is a joke, obviously, but getting random disagrees on every single comment does seem like there’s someone out there stalking and ready to hit the button. Might as well embrace it, like you said.7 -

Oh, I'm a pro at the party size bag. We have a vendor who sends the bags as a thank you with our purchase. Glad you stayed sane! 😀4 -

It looks like tuna or chicken salad to me.
Which, as much as I love m&ms, actually does seem weird to me.3 -

I thought it looked like cottage cheese salad. I gather there are people who eat cottage cheese with sweet things. Weird to me, (except pineapple - but that regularly crosses the sweet/savoury boundaries), but even I could imagine cottage cheese with fruit and a few M&Ms as a garnish!2 -
Very often people disagree on threads about what foods one likes even though I don't think they are disagreeing about the fact that I love cilantro and think fruit pie is way better than cake (and apple pie way better than pumpkin). They are just expressing the view that my preferences are warped and wrong.
I did not disagree with anyone on this thread (I sometimes do for fun in the unpopular food opinions thread and don't mind if I get disagreed with there), but I will say that M&Ms on a salad seems warped and wrong to me, and I feel like it can be fun to have extreme opinions about food, since it's not actually something that divides people in an important way. Usually I feel the same about sports rivalries, but sometimes people go overboard about those.
(I have not tried M&Ms on salad, but they don't seem like they would go. I also hate overly sweet salad dressings -- I bought a bagged kale salad to have a quick lunch option and it had a lemon balsamic dressing that tasted like these Italian lemon cookies we used to get from a restaurant at work lunches. The cookies are good, the taste was awful on my kale salad.)
Marshmallows on a salad are also wrong and bad, for the record, since marshmallows are repulsive (M&Ms are okay, and peanut M&Ms are good).
People making weird jello "salads" with marshmallows when I was a kid is something I do not miss.
That does not mean I do not enjoy plenty of unusual or experimental salads.4 -

Here are the ingredients. It's a type of fruit salad if I were to try to label it.

I, too, think it's probably a fruit salad, one of those (IMO) appalling things with mini-marshmallows and Cool Whip. This one looks like it might even have caramel sauce drizzled over it, in addition to the M&Ms. For me, Just NO.
Others of you who think it looks good: You can have my share.3 -

Not even close to being tuna or chicken salad!
Speaking of which, why ARE they called tuna or chicken salad?
But now it makes me want ambrosia.

Well, Webster's Dictionary gives 2 definitions of "salad":
Any of various usually cold dishes: such as
a: raw greens (such as lettuce) often combined with other vegetables and toppings and served especially with dressing
b: small pieces of food (such as pasta, meat, fruit, or vegetables) usually mixed with a dressing (such as mayonnaise) or set in gelatin
And ambrosia is vile, sorry.3 -

Ah, ok...seeing it in the unmade form makes more sense for me. I was looking at a tiny photo on an Android phone, so there's also that. 😀3 -
This thread inspired me. I sprinkled some of my skittles I got for Easter on my salad today. Romaine, assorted veggies, grilled chicken and poppyseed dressing. Not bad at all.7

Caramel apple? Strawberry ice cream? Chocolate orange?6 -

I made a Snickers Salad a few years back. TBH it wasn't all that. But give me a Snickers separately and I could inhale it.1 -
This thread is giving me flashbacks to my childhood. I love my grandmothers, but I definitely reached my limit of these kinds of salads very early in life!2
