Method = calorie counting, avoid sugar.
I round off my weight to the higher pound (I don't chart half pounds, etc.)
My short term goal of 139 by mid May is likely too aggressive, so if I can't accomplish it, I won't be worked up about it. I am being careful to not overly short my calories.
[EDIT 5/5/21. Well, reality is that I'm NOT going to be a 139 by mid May. That is only 2 weeks away, and my loss rate is at a stand still.]

5/2 145. I am starting off this round with a newly earned drop down to 145 (yesterday I was still in the 146 range.) I hope those wheat thins that I ate two day ago don't hit my scale tomorrow, I hope they will be of no big consequence to my weight.

5/4 146. Well that's going in the wrong direction! I'll reevaluate tomorrow. I know that yesterday's eating of about 300 more calories than usual does not account for a pound.
5/5 146 Good thing when I bought my new pants for an upcoming trip, I got them "too big" rather than "too tight". It seems I'm sort of slowing down in my weight loss, and so I'd have been mad if I couldn't fit into them by the trip.

5/7 I weighed this morning, but have forgotten by tonight was it was..... I cannot remember if I'm back into 145 yet.
5/8 145 + a couple of ounces. My loss has been at at stand still, which is disappointing to me since I carefully count calories. For the next round in a couple of days, I'll be adjusting my intro info because it's now confirmable that I'm going to be way over my "hope for short term" weight by mid May.

THERE ARE NO QUICK FIXES OR SHORTCUTS to achieving permanent change.
REMINDERS: One or two thoughts which might give heart to some of you.- Daily weight fluctuations are normal, and can be as much as 2 lbs a day for no apparent reason.
- A general downward trend is what we are looking for.
- Eating out can cause apparent weight gain because of high sodium levels, but usually goes quickly. Drinking extra water helps with this.
- The human body does not react instantly to what we do to it. Sometimes it can take several days to see results.
- Plateaus are a normal part of the process. The body is consolidating and adapting to your new way of eating/exercising.
- The closer you get to your goal weight, the more difficult it becomes to lose weight, as your body becomes more efficient at using what you feed it.
- When you exercise you build muscle, which takes up less space than fat, so use measurements as well as weight to assess your progress.
- Getting/Staying fit and healthy requires a lifestyle change for most people.

JUST GIVE ME 10 DAYS ~ Round 149 (round 81 for me ) I prove time after time that I need this to help me keep on track! Thank you @QuiltingJaine for setting up the new challenge.
Female age 63 5' 4” - Challenge again for this round; need to continue to get back to maintenance weight– get back to and stay at or >130. A healthy life style has to be a permanent way of life.
Keep calm – we're all in this together! Wash hands, be kind, continue to follow all latest Government guidelines in roadmap to normality for C-19 virus. Be positive for the vaccine – I've had my first, spread positivity and encouragement for it to others.
Achieved goal weigh of 125lb in summer 2016 by losing 66lb and then gradually gained between 7 and 11 since then & didn't want to gain any more, It's took me 75 rounds to achieve my under 130 target; back to maintenance again!! A healthy life style has to be a permanent way of life.

5/2 132.4 - 12.33 miles walked yesterday in the glorious Derbyshire dales, calories under.
5/3 133 - picked up 3 year old DGS for the day, Managed to get out for a walk after we took him home, 5.97 miles in total. Calories 200 over.
5/4 134.2 – no walking yesterday as travelling back from Derbyshire Dales and heavy rain when we got home hence calories over (I have a cold & want to keep feeding it!!). Happy Star Wars day for all fans (May the 4th be with you) !!!
5/5 136.4 – uhgh!! still feeding that cold and feeding frenzy/comfort eating whilst 15 month old DGS seriously ill, back in transplant hospital with pneumonia & serious abdominal virus too, so worried about him & DD, she is exhausted. Must stop this ridiculous shoveling of wrong foods into my face; it will not help, I need to be strong (& healthy) to support them both even if it can only be at the end of the 'phone due to the pandemic & by taking his 3 year old elder brother out on his non nursery days. Also funeral of 94 year old aunt today. 8.4 miles walked yesterday.

5/7 135 - Took DGS#1 (sick DGS's older 3 year old brother) out for the day, met DS & 2 year old DGD, we all played in the woods, “Stickman's” house, balanced on logs, chased them around on their balance bikes, helped them climb small trees, picnic'd on the lawn of Hardwick Hall and generally had fun with both!! A very satisfying enjoyable day. Just short of 5 miles walked, calories over, but no binging!

Hopefully I can flush it out before the end of the round! **ADVICE NEEDED** - does anyone else have this problem where when eating with a partner it all goes out the window? He’s taller and more muscley than me so he can get away with it but I just can’t. How do you cope with it? Maybe I need to just tell him I can’t eat takeaways for now and when I’m at goal I can have them as treats? Ugh 😔😔

We had Indian carry out yesterday — yummy, but a bit salty & caloric. Also raisin bread French toast for breakfast before I knew we’d be ordering, so.... I didn’t get my walk yesterday — by the time I finished digging in my new stone path, the wind had come up and it wasn’t very nice out, so I decided my digging and lifting would have to do. It’s lovely today, though, so I’m off in a few minutes for a walk by the river and then I’ll plant the few plants I have waiting. I see a big nursery trip or three in my future! I also ordered a bunch of native plants from the Botanical Conservatory sale and get to pick them up on Thursday. Yay! My garden is definitely one of my happy places.🌷🌻🦋🌹🌼🐞🌳 Also keeps me out of the kitchen. Have a lovely Sunday, all!

5/9 - 160.6 - argh can’t believe it! 😭 my partner came round last night and we ordered Chinese, I thought I had chosen a relatively healthy dish and didn’t eat much of it but I obviously couldn’t escape the sodium/msg 😔😔 I know this isn’t 1.6 lbs of fat but still super discouraging. Hopefully I can flush it out before the end of the round! **ADVICE NEEDED** - does anyone else have this problem where when eating with a partner it all goes out the window? He’s taller and more muscley than me so he can get away with it but I just can’t. How do you cope with it? Maybe I need to just tell him I can’t eat takeaways for now and when I’m at goal I can have them as treats? Ugh 😔😔

@playhardkf2017 thank you very much for your advice! I had thought about the frozen meal idea and I think that’s a great way forwards. Takeaways you just never know what’s in them do you! It is usually spontaneous aswell either he’s really hungry and orders food or our plans change at the last minute so keeping some in the freezer is a good idea. Sorry to hear your husband is stressed I hope things settle down at his internship soon! Thank you again for your thoughtful reply ☺️4

05/09 - 149.6 - Its okay, it's a tad bit of dehydration from working at the land and then Chinese food for dinner. I expected to be up. I did try my best to drink as much water and gatorade to keep up (gatorade was all we had on hand besides water and I knew I needed electrolytes with how much I was sweating). Both of us were so tired we couldn't handle cooking so we got Chinese since he wanted sushi/sashimi. Today is a lazy day, methinks, so I'm pushing water and getting back to my fasts (didn't really fast Saturday since I wanted to eat before I got too hot and lost appetite). Hopefully it'll all drop enough by end of round. So long as I behave. Happy Mother's Day to all my mom friends out there!

05/03 - I fasted 15 hours yesterday, which exceeded weekend goal. Today should be easy to hit 17hours. Drank over 90 oz (estimating about 100-105oz). Didn't do kickboxing workout last week at all so I'm making myself do it after this morning meeting whether I like it or not. I know I'll thank myself after. I'm weathering this storm. Need to get fasting back on track and regular. Need to focus on eating better. Weekends are always rough but I can control lunch this week and that should make an impact if I behave and stay mindful of goals.
05/04 - My first thought was along the lines of "why do I even bother?!" as the scale didn't budge despite my efforts yesterday. Then I reminded myself that the scale doesn't always reflect what's really going on and I'm not worried so much about my weight as I am my health. Health first, weight is just a side effect of health. Fasted 18 hours, drank 100oz water and did not only my kickboxing workout, but a walk/run with the pup after! Food wasn't ideal for lunch but dinner was good! Been sleeping better since I've been using my herbal supplements (not melatonin!). Half a dose and I'm knocked out and feeling much more rested within an hour of waking up (disclaimer, I'm ALWAYS groggy/cranky and want to go back to bed when my alarm first goes off. But instead of being so for 2-3 hours, within an hour I'm pretty well awake and ready to go) May the Fourth be with you!
05/05 - Starting to show a little progress. Feeling a tad bloated today so didn't expect a drop at all. 90 oz water, fasted 16hours. Got a walk in with the pup last night. Nothing major to report. Need to do some gardening today and head to the grocery store to stock up with more healthy lunch options.
05/06 - Fasted just a few minutes shy of 19 hours, but only drank about 65oz water. My fault, I was distracted. Still happy to see a drop despite eating out last night. I was able to transplant all my plants to my raised garden bed, including my jalapenos which were still in the seed starter. I have green bell peppers and scotch bonnets still too little to transplant, but saved a little space for those guys. Got home when it was a tad too dark to take the crazy pup for a walk. I'd be more comfortable if she behaved better, but we are working on that. Slept horribly last night so don't know if I'll get my kickboxing workout in. Will try for yoga. Determined to make it a good day regardless of sleep!
05/07 - Slow progress is still progress. Fasted 17 hours and had 90oz water. Took pup for a walk, checked in on my garden, and read. A lot of reading. Slept much better last night after I remembered to take my sleep supplements. So far, it seems to help a ton so long as I remember to take it.

05/02 …..207.4 ….. This time it was a severe sugar drop while in my car the next town over. Feeding frenzy in the car with snacks bought at the gas station. I ate until it stopped. Not good because that usually means it goes too high afterward from the food but I swear, it is instinct to eat, eat, eat until you can feel the difference. My body is really fighting me on dietetic changes. Even exercise. I will win this battle! I know my journey is a bit different than most of yours, but I appreciate you all being here with me on mine as I navigate and overcome.
05/03 …..207.4 ….. No change after a good day is disappointing me but onward I march in this battle. On another note, a cat that looks to be around 6-12 months old came walking out of the woods yesterday. She looks almost identical to the one I lost due to old age after 21 years last summer. I put her on my local facebook to see if someone will claim her and no hits yet. I bought a litter box, some litter, a cat toy, some food, some treats and she slept in the house last night. She is using the box well. She seemed to be starving and ate savagely. She is doing very well. She may end up my new pet. We shall see. I didn’t expect another pet at this very moment but pets are something I’ve always had and loved. I hope I will get to keep her. I haven’t picked a name yet. I am trying to think of something related to her coming out of the woods. Any ideas would be great!
05/04 …..206.6 ….. Back where I started which I consider progress. In regards to the kitty, I think I will name her Pebbles. It’s not the sophisticated name I was looking for but after watching her personality and seeing that blend of orange hair I realized the name belonged to her. She is a sweet little thing. Still no hits on Facebook for her so maybe she will be mine after all. We shall see. Traveling today to get a bone scan because that is what they do to old people like me lol. Is it because my birthday is coming up? They said it is because of my cancer and specifically, my cancer meds. I guess I will just have to believe them LOL.
05/05 …..208.8 ….. I did NOT eat enough to gain 2.2 pounds during my travel. No breakfast. No lunch. Only half my dinner, but there was a large piece of cheese cake I will confess to. Still….. 2.2 lb gain? The scale better be in a nicer mood tomorrow. Ridiculous!

Female age 63 5' 4” - Challenge again for this round; need to continue to get back to maintenance weight– get back to and stay at or >130. A healthy life style has to be a permanent way of life.
Keep calm – we're all in this together! Wash hands, be kind, continue to follow all latest Government guidelines in roadmap to normality for C-19 virus. Be positive for the vaccine – I've had my first, spread positivity and encouragement for it to others.
Achieved goal weigh of 125lb in summer 2016 by losing 66lb and then gradually gained between 7 and 11 since then & didn't want to gain any more, It's took me 75 rounds to achieve my under 130 target; back to maintenance again!! A healthy life style has to be a permanent way of life.

5/2 132.4 - 12.33 miles walked yesterday in the glorious Derbyshire dales, calories under.
5/3 133 - picked up 3 year old DGS for the day, Managed to get out for a walk after we took him home, 5.97 miles in total. Calories 200 over.
5/4 134.2 – no walking yesterday as travelling back from Derbyshire Dales and heavy rain when we got home hence calories over (I have a cold & want to keep feeding it!!). Happy Star Wars day for all fans (May the 4th be with you) !!!
5/5 136.4 – uhgh!! still feeding that cold and feeding frenzy/comfort eating whilst 15 month old DGS seriously ill, back in transplant hospital with pneumonia & serious abdominal virus too, so worried about him & DD, she is exhausted. Must stop this ridiculous shoveling of wrong foods into my face; it will not help, I need to be strong (& healthy) to support them both even if it can only be at the end of the 'phone due to the pandemic & by taking his 3 year old elder brother out on his non nursery days. Also funeral of 94 year old aunt today. 8.4 miles walked yesterday.
5/6 135.8 - 10.74 miles walked yesterday. Back on track & behaving myself, calories under.
5/7 135 - Took DGS#1 (sick DGS's older 3 year old brother) out for the day, met DS & 2 year old DGD, we all played in the woods, “Stickman's” house, balanced on logs, chased them around on their balance bikes, helped them climb small trees, picnic'd on the lawn of Hardwick Hall and generally had fun with both!! A very satisfying enjoyable day. Just short of 5 miles walked, calories over, but no binging!
5/8 134.6 – 10.93 miles walked, did afternoon tea for SIL's birthday, hence Calories 101 over. (No binging though & did exercise portion control!) DGS slightly improved again.
5/9 134.2 – 6.82 miles walked yesterday despite the rain! Calories just in green, carbs over due to pizza night.
5/10 134.2 – 4.85 miles walked yesterday with DGS#1 around Crich Tramway Museum; his brother is very ill, talk of him being moved into ITC unit. 200 calories over.

My challenge this time is to lose 2 lbs and also to write a sentence each day on how the previous day has gone. I am a 52 year old woman with primary progressive multiple sclerosis which means my mobility is poor and my weight loss slooooooooooooow. But I keep going!
Start weight (31 August 2020): 349.2 lbs
Start weight for 149 challenge: 308.9 lbs
Aim for 11 May 2021 (end of 149 challenge): 306.9 lbs
5/2: 307.1 lbs - bit of a surprise to have lotst this weight, but I'll take it! It's a good start to this challenge for sure.
5/3: 308.1 lbs - not bad, Monday morning and I had quite an indulgent Sunday. Determined to lose a good chunk of weigh on this challenge.
5/4: 310.4lbs - that's a bit steep! I don't think it's real weight gain, but we shall see. Have been tracking and eating well, so here goes. Trying also to do squats and weights to keep moving.
5/5: 309.8 lbs - coming down slowly - let's do this:)
5/6: 310.9 lbs - it's very depressing that the harder I try this week the more my weight goes up. Never mind, am not worrying too much and just keep tracking and keeping under my goals and trying to exercise.

My short term goal of 139 by mid May is likely too aggressive, so if I can't accomplish it, I won't be worked up about it. I am being careful to not overly short my calories.

5/2 145. I am starting off this round with a newly earned drop down to 145 (yesterday I was still in the 146 range.) I hope those wheat thins that I ate two day ago don't hit my scale tomorrow, I hope they will be of no big consequence to my weight.

5/4 146. Well that's going in the wrong direction! I'll reevaluate tomorrow. I know that yesterday's eating of about 300 more calories than usual does not account for a pound.
5/5 146 Good thing when I bought my new pants for an upcoming trip, I got them "too big" rather than "too tight". It seems I'm sort of slowing down in my weight loss, and so I'd have been mad if I couldn't fit into them by the trip.

5/8 145 + a couple of ounces. My loss has been at at stand still, which is disappointing to me since I carefully count calories. For the next round in a couple of days, I'll be adjusting my intro info because it's now confirmable that I'm going to be way over my "hope for short term" weight by mid May.

REMINDERS: One or two thoughts which might give heart to some of you.- Daily weight fluctuations are normal, and can be as much as 2 lbs a day for no apparent reason.
- A general downward trend is what we are looking for.
- Eating out can cause apparent weight gain because of high sodium levels, but usually goes quickly. Drinking extra water helps with this.
- The human body does not react instantly to what we do to it. Sometimes it can take several days to see results.
- Plateaus are a normal part of the process. The body is consolidating and adapting to your new way of eating/exercising.
- The closer you get to your goal weight, the more difficult it becomes to lose weight, as your body becomes more efficient at using what you feed it.
- When you exercise you build muscle, which takes up less space than fat, so use measurements as well as weight to assess your progress.
- Getting/Staying fit and healthy requires a lifestyle change for most people.

05/03 - I fasted 15 hours yesterday, which exceeded weekend goal. Today should be easy to hit 17hours. Drank over 90 oz (estimating about 100-105oz). Didn't do kickboxing workout last week at all so I'm making myself do it after this morning meeting whether I like it or not. I know I'll thank myself after. I'm weathering this storm. Need to get fasting back on track and regular. Need to focus on eating better. Weekends are always rough but I can control lunch this week and that should make an impact if I behave and stay mindful of goals.
05/04 - My first thought was along the lines of "why do I even bother?!" as the scale didn't budge despite my efforts yesterday. Then I reminded myself that the scale doesn't always reflect what's really going on and I'm not worried so much about my weight as I am my health. Health first, weight is just a side effect of health. Fasted 18 hours, drank 100oz water and did not only my kickboxing workout, but a walk/run with the pup after! Food wasn't ideal for lunch but dinner was good! Been sleeping better since I've been using my herbal supplements (not melatonin!). Half a dose and I'm knocked out and feeling much more rested within an hour of waking up (disclaimer, I'm ALWAYS groggy/cranky and want to go back to bed when my alarm first goes off. But instead of being so for 2-3 hours, within an hour I'm pretty well awake and ready to go) May the Fourth be with you!
05/05 - Starting to show a little progress. Feeling a tad bloated today so didn't expect a drop at all. 90 oz water, fasted 16hours. Got a walk in with the pup last night. Nothing major to report. Need to do some gardening today and head to the grocery store to stock up with more healthy lunch options.
05/06 - Fasted just a few minutes shy of 19 hours, but only drank about 65oz water. My fault, I was distracted. Still happy to see a drop despite eating out last night. I was able to transplant all my plants to my raised garden bed, including my jalapenos which were still in the seed starter. I have green bell peppers and scotch bonnets still too little to transplant, but saved a little space for those guys. Got home when it was a tad too dark to take the crazy pup for a walk. I'd be more comfortable if she behaved better, but we are working on that. Slept horribly last night so don't know if I'll get my kickboxing workout in. Will try for yoga. Determined to make it a good day regardless of sleep!
05/07 - Slow progress is still progress. Fasted 17 hours and had 90oz water. Took pup for a walk, checked in on my garden, and read. A lot of reading. Slept much better last night after I remembered to take my sleep supplements. So far, it seems to help a ton so long as I remember to take it.

05/09 - Its okay, it's a tad bit of dehydration from working at the land and then Chinese food for dinner. I expected to be up. I did try my best to drink as much water and gatorade to keep up (gatorade was all we had on hand besides water and I knew I needed electrolytes with how much I was sweating). Both of us were so tired we couldn't handle cooking so we got Chinese since he wanted sushi/sashimi. Today is a lazy day, methinks, so I'm pushing water and getting back to my fasts (didn't really fast Saturday since I wanted to eat before I got too hot and lost appetite). Hopefully it'll all drop enough by end of round. So long as I behave. Happy Mother's Day to all my mom friends out there!
