Half a pound but its in the right direction. Hitting a bit of a slump this week, the extended covid regulations, plus work stress, plus not seeing my bf all week is taking its toll. I have a fridge full of fruit and veg but I just want to eat chocolate. I'm telling myself that the fibre bars and 90cal 'skinny whip' bars are technically chocolate but it's not happening!
I'm gonna try get on a few walks and maybe look into the free gym offer work has at the moment. Bought myself a pair of actual trainers (rather than sandals or boots) so I can't complain about no shoes!8 -
Inky_One , all the triumphs of your week represent so much more than just the number on the scale.
Bravo 🎉, you are down 4.5 since the beginning of the month, managed another week of Covid restrictions ( which province are you from?) and demonstrated a lot of insight into what’s going on for you.
Not the ting to “ silver lining ‘ what you shared ( Bene Brown video on empathy . Love her stuff)
Just want to really encourage you , you’ve got this and we are here rooting you on .
For any of you that need encouragement this is for you too👍💪🏼❤️5 -
Hello all, today is my first day. I don’t have support in my real life and I struggle with sticking with things. Dear quarantine helped me gain 15lbs and now I’m struggling with body image more than ever. I would love to have friends on here to help keep me motivated!
Age- 33
Height- 5’5
Current/Starting Weight- 245lbs
My goals are to walk/swim more. Basically I need to be more active! And to eat at home. as a single woman, I tend to eat out way too much. I figure the first step is eating at home and seeing what the macros are for food, then begin changing diet.
Any advice or support would be appreciated.11 -

current weight 203.8
Really would like to go below 200 by the end of June, if that's possible. Last time I dieted I hit a plateau and went off the wagon and thought I could never lose weight.7 -
Down a few more ounces this morning. I log the loss every seven days, but I weigh most days just to watch the variance and the bounce. Yesterday was 243.8, today was 243. So a little more is a good thing!
Also I had a real moment of victory last night at Game Night.
About nine pm someone walked through and said "Hey, I'm getting a pizza order together, do you want to throw in on it? Calling (Chain Pizza Place)."
And I thought this: I had Moroccan lamb stew and pilau for dinner that was phenomenally satisfying and I'm not hungry again. Although pizza is good in theory, (Chain Pizza Place)'s pizza....eh. I'm thinking the reason I never get their pizza is it was greasy enough to trigger an IBS attack last time I ate it. If I'm going to blow the calorie budget for pizza it's going to be GOOD pizza, and this isn't good pizza.
"No thanks," I said. And went on with my conversation.
I didn't miss the pizza. When I got home around midnight I had a cup of yogurt and went to bed.
There was a time when I would have had pizza because, well, pizza was being offered and I like pizza. I now know that just because it's there I don't have to eat it, and I have refined my tastes; I like GOOD pizza.12 -

Down 2 lbs since last week. Proud of myself today for getting on a bike when my daughter begged me to go ride with her. Haven't been on my bike in forever! We didnt ride far, but surprised it didnt completely kill me, BTH!
Would like to be at 220 by end of June (that would be 20 lbs), but I've told myself I'm not going to get completely wrapped around the axle if the lbs don't just fly right off. Slow but steady still gets me there.
Now to work on more moving and more water!6 -

Not a huge loss, but still a loss. I just ordered a new scale from Amazon, so that should be delivered in a few days. Its one of those fancy ones that estimates your body fat % and all that too. It also wirelessly connects to my phone. I caught a good sale on Prime Days. I wanted one with backlighting, so everything else is just a bonus. I couldn't turn it down for $14.

Hello new faces! I also see a lot of good updates, great work everybody!
I managed to finish the lasagna and the enchiladas, so that's dinner sorted 4 of 6 nights. I cut the lasagna into 8 servings but it still came out to like 1200 calories per - I mean, it's full of pork and cheese interspersed with huge noodles, so I don't know what I expected, but YEESH! So, we'll make that 16 servings, thanksverymuch.
I ended up not doing the cabbage rolls this far in advance; I think I'll be able to make them on Saturday morning without getting myself too wound up to enjoy my spa day that afternoon. The Salisbury steak lunches came together with minimal stress on Sunday. I have plans to make the pelmeni filling and dough tonight, and then assemble as many as I can each evening the rest of the week and stick the finished dumplings straight into the freezer. The real trick will be keeping the cats away while I'm working, I'm sure they'll be very interested.5 -
Still no scale activity. We've had some very bad personal family news (my SIL) and it's been a tough couple weeks. I am wearing yet another pair of capris from last year I couldn't wear and they are LOOSE. So even though the scale isn't moving my body composition has changed, so I need to do measurements again. I am continuing to track my food every day (every bite!) but admit the past couple weeks I've allowed ice cream to creep into my diet instead of veggies on a couple occasions. Something about summer and ice cream.
what do you do when summer ice cream cravings hit??7 -
@azalea4175 usually I just make room in my budget for ice cream and make sure I log it, tbh. Ice cream isn't the devil.
edit to expand: I have a box of ice cream bars in my freezer right now and I have one prelogged for dessert every day this week. The ones I have are 160cal apiece, easy to squeeze into my budget. They sell plenty of <200-calorie ice cream treats these days. When I do buy tubs of ice cream I eat it out of a teacup - a ~90g serving fits perfectly in there and the handle makes it easier to hold without melting the ice cream too fast.5 -

Great job! NSV are awesome, the body speaks more than the scale. I think clothes are the best tellers.
I feel you on the ice cream.. I've been getting Chloe's pops from Costco (60 cals a bar). But if I really want something creamy I will splurge and get a medium vanilla cone from DQ and log it (330 cals). As long as I stay within my limit I'm ok.

Drumstick brand makes "mini drums". They are 80 calories each and about three bites, and ideal for "I want ice cream in a cone" without blowing the calorie budget. They suggest four as a sensible portion, but one after a meal honestly works really well for me.2 -

I made it to my 100th day a few days ago. I cannot believe I have been at this for 100 days. Some days are easier than others. Some days are challenging. But I keep at it. I am proud of my progress so far. I gave myself a June goal weight range. I have already reached it. Hooray for me!
@jazzadesigns Happy Belated Birthday!
@sandielewis2001 I love that you are rewarding yourself. My previous times on MFP I did that too. I would do little things like new sneakers, new workout clothes, new workout equipment, a hair cut, having my hair colored, mani/pedi, new make up. This time around I have not started rewarding myself.

So nice to meet you all and hear it as it is in the world of changing habits around food and exercise.2 -
@JNettie73 Thank you! Congrats on meeting your monthly goal! 🎉👏🏻👏🏻1

@goal06082021 @flossyposse @AlexandraFindsHerself1971 thanks for all the great suggestions. I can keep the ice cream bars in the basement so I get extra steps to go get one too. I'll see if we can buy those items locally. We live in a remote area with limited options so hopefully i can find some! thanks ladies!!3

Well, not a great week.
Friday, Saturday, Sunday were kind of blow-outs. Happy hour, travel, family gatherings, moment of weakness in the supermarket resulting in being UP 1# on the scale. Need to work on better strategies.
Although I did complete my food diary religiously. And was above weekly goal by only about 3500 calories. Given that I'm supposedly set at a level to lose 2 pounds per week, I still should have lost ~1 pound (instead of the normal ~2). But it's a small window of time, so I'm going to see how things work out over the next week or so now that I'm hopefully back on plan.
Goal for the week: don't let the small voice in my head telling me to give up because I've already blown it and it's futile anyway defeat the part of me that wants to do this. Onward and downward!

Gym clothes have been getting loose lately. Didn't mean to do Intermittent Fasting yesterday but ended up not eating much until late afternoon. Allowed some usually off plan items for needing the calories so late. Wasn't hungry most of the day and just kept doing other things. Normally I don't eat late so didn't think IF would help me much but as long as I don't see an increase from having regular meals maybe I'll try another day. Multiple friends have been doing it. I already give myself roughly 12 hours before breakfast and night eating isn't a big thing for me. Something to think about, if I see it helps with what I'm already doing.
Work finally gave us the date for going back to the office. Mid next month I can start to go back. We'll see if I still like doing so. Also will be deciding if I'm keeping the gym membership that's there as well.
Haven't done measurements for a bit since being at Mom's house without a tape measure on Fridays. We'll see this Friday.5 -
Something I've been thinking a lot about lately:
The outdoors is for every body. Adventure is for every body.
I love being outside and my dream workout always involves something on or in the water. But I've lost confidence in my body. Not in how I look (of course there's that too, but it's in the background), but more in how I feel in a body that's 60lbs heavier than it should be. I've never been so unsure of what I physically can or cannot do. I'm so reserved with everything I try because I hate looking foolish and I dread thinking of people making fun of me. I'm constantly comparing now-me to past-me, who didn't have any of these issues and who wasn't so damn scared of everything. And I'm missing out on SO MUCH because of it!
I've been putting off going Stand Up Paddling, even though I think I would love it, because I'm worried about being unsteady on the board (I have nerve damage from a prior back surgery and have no feeling in my right leg and most of my right foot). And what if I fall and can't haul myself back up? I tell myself it's just not worth taking the risk. Maybe after I lose 30lbs I can try it. Maybe it's not something I, a middle-aged overweight woman with physical disabilities, should be doing. Maybe it's for other people...the ones who aren't scared and uncertain.
But really, my heart wants to do it. My heart wants to do ALL of it! Waterfall hikes and sailing lessons and boogie boarding and ocean swims and outdoor yoga and so much more.
Just because I suck at it doesn't mean it's not for me. Adventure is for every body.

Lovely to meet you all, belated Happy Summer Solstice10 -
I have been thinking a lot about the post from yesterday about rewarding ourselves for all we have been doing. I decided that I deserved to be treated. It is very rare I buy things just for myself, I am always buying things for my daughter. Well today I decided to change that and take advantage of Prime Day! I may have gone a bit overboard but it's been so long since I've treated myself. I've been working so hard on my life style changes. I bought myself new equipment for working out. My purchases will, hopefully, keep the momentum going. I bought new resistance bands, a thigh master, a balance trainer (similar to a Bosu), and an abdominal machine. I cannot wait for my purchases to arrive. I am so excited!
@wanderinglight Your post resonates with me. I love being outside too and am drawn to the water. I used to be extremely active in my early 20's doing all sorts of outdoor activities. I loved it then and still love it. Though, I don't engage in those same activities anymore due to my weight/size. Physically I have difficulty doing the activities then, like you, I have the same concerns. I will fall and won't be able to get back up, I will manage to get my body stuck and won't be able to get out or I will try to sit and discover I am too big and don't fit. (thinking kayak on those last two) My daughter shares the same love for the water as I do. I want to be able to try these things with her. I don't want to be the mom standing on the shore while my neighbor takes her out in the kayak or on the paddle board. As much as I love my neighbor, I want to be the one sharing those experiences with my daughter.
I 100% agree adventure IS for everyone!
@MissiePK welcome!5 -
@wanderinglight I too was that way but now, I couldn't give a rats *kitten* about what others think. I figure I don't know you and probably won't even see you again. I know my limitations with my knees and back and there are some things that I just won't attempt to do. You have to put your own health risks first.7

Hello Everyone, am I too late for this group? I’m new to MFP I’ve only had app for about 4 days or so. I’m trying to figure out how this works.
