Thanks @Teresa502 π I'm glad you're ok after your fall.
@penguinmama87 I also recommend chatting with Garmin customer support. I have had great experience with them. I have had bands break a couple of times and been replaced free. And once I had a GR35 that stopped vibrating. It had had it a couple of years and when I asked if there was any thing we could do, they told me to send it back and they replaced it free. I ended up replacing that watch, but only because I wanted a few more features. I went with the FR45S. It is still pretty basic, but does everything I need and it wasn't too pricey. Plus I liked that it has smaller version.

Got my 8 miles in this morning. Feels like 85F, ZERO wind. So yeah, just tried to get through it and not care about pace. I haven't seen a PR in anything in a long time, so getting the most miles in a month ever feels kinda good. In about a week I will start 15K training, so the mileage will go down, but I think I am in a good starting place going into it, as opposed to every year in the past I was coming off an injury going into this race.

3.75 miles this morning. It was super "easy" and I am enjoying running. I wish I had known sooner that running wasn't as bad as I thought it would be and the best part (well as far as I could tell) is it only gets better and better as time goes on.
I am also coming off feeling so much more accomplished and stronger as an individual as a hole. I have been exercising (Hitt, strength etc etc) for a while now, 15 years total but the past three years uninterrupted and I was finding myself In a bit of a depressed rut, feeling as if the monotony was slowly eating at my habit. I turned to running because I wanted to switch it up and knew that it was my most hated workout and also thought since I have been working out for so long, it would be a piece of cake... but boy was I wrong. Of course the long term cardio helped me in regulating my breathing but for short interval spurts, to get to the next point of the workout.. which running is not. So as I began building a new version of myself, each run was leaving me feeling even more capable, durable and strong ... A feeling I was beginnig to miss. I am so much more greatful for my body's abilities and so much more appreciative, this morning's run was a really good run. Mentally, spiritually, physically.... It put me in such a good place11 -

Hi all (Elise here). Where is August's thread? I know @shanaber had been busy and @avidkeo too, so feel free to take the initiative if it's not been posted, remember we have a few that are a day ahead of the US. Perhaps I'll think up a monthly question...
I came across a suicide awareness virtual run on FB and wanted to share it (lost son, Alex). I'm not running or even walking but still rehabbing. Definitely gonna grab the swag for this event to further the cause.
Remember to take care of yourself and others.

I'm three days behind again. Will eventually catch up.
@Avidkeo Glad the nice lady paid for the transfer for your race. That was sweet of her.
Congratulations on exceeding your monthly target mileage and running the most miles in a month ever @Scott6255 ! I agree that @AlphaHowls needs to get recognition for her accomplishments!
@martaindale Which HM are you training for?
CONGRATULATIONS @abowersgirl for running 5K! It sounds like you are hooked. I'm confident you will be able to complete your 10K in September.

@katharmonic I hate to hear that about Stella! I hope she is doing better now.
@martaindale Congrats on getting into your new house. Enjoy exploring new, hillier running routes.
@rheddmobile You are definitely having some HOT weather. You and your DH are beasts for running outside anyway.
@kgirlhart Sounds like you are doing great with Hal's plan.
Great running everyone. It wasn't as hard to catch up as I thought it would be. Thanks for setting up the August thread @Whatmerunning!

Was very busy the last few days. Wednesday, mom and I took my neighbor to get his truck worked on. While it was in the shop, we visited some of the tourist places in town that my mom had never been to and then had Mexican for lunch. I was supposed to run, but could barely keep my eyes open when driving home, so opted for a nap and a treadmill walk before heading to church that evening.
Yesterday and today, I worked at daycare, the opening shift that starts at 6:30 am, which means I get up at 4:30. I had an errand to run yesterday after work and really wanted to get to bed earlier (did a bit), so I shortened my scheduled Short Interval run. I ran the prescribed 8 x (1 min Zone 1/2 min Zone 1), but didn't run the warm up and cool down's - used my mile walking for that. So, it saved me a little time and I got the speed work in.
Today, I was able to take my break at daycare from 9:45 - 12:15 in order to go play my weekly doubles tennis match. Glad I get that flexibility. When I got home, I did my mile walk, to keep my streak going, on the treadmill. Unless something drastic happens, I should meet/exceed my monthly goals tomorrow.

Thank you @teresa502, @shanaber and @quilteryoyo, and all those who hugged. Stella was doing much better yesterday - the meds seemed to work fast to make her feel a ton better. She was a little too energetic in fact for a dog that should be resting and quiet.
@swenson19d, hello! I am running a 5k for suicide awareness and prevention on August 15 locally. There is also a virtual option to that if anyone needs another https://runsignup.com/lifeworthliving5k. This is in honor and memory of the son of a guy in my run club, who I just mentioned last week I went to a fundraiser at a brewery for the same cause.
Just a quick stop-in. I did a very rainy muddy hike today in the Adirondacks to get high peak #33 of 46. Planning to do two more tomorrow. So I'm now going to bed. I just hope I'm up for back to back hikes - I've warned my hiking friend that I will be slooooow. I'll report back with some pics from both hikes hopefully tomorrow night.9 -

I went through a factory reset for my tracker with a Garmin support person yesterday and it seemed better through about the first half of my run today, but then started acting up again. Blah. I will contact them again and see if I can get it replaced, maybe, though I'm also very grateful for ideas on upgrades in the future! (My first couple weight loss rewards were things like a haircut and skin care products...now I'm bookmarking running gear. )
Thank you for sharing the virtual run @swenson19d. I'm signing up for the 10K, and will offer some prayers for you and your son today too. I'm very sorry for your loss.5 -
@katharmonic So glad that Stella is doing better. I know that is scary for you and her. Looking forward to the hiking pictures.
@penguinmama87 I hope you can get your watch replaced, since their "fix" didn't last. Yea, I'm rewarding myself with running gear too.

I can definitely get behind this concept of "rewarding" myself with running gear! It sounds so much better than "pampering" as I tend to convince myself, and way better than the "frivolous" that I suspect my wife would like to call it (but is quite supportive, to be fair).2 -

Running on to August...10 -
Not running today so thatβs it for July. I made my goal which was simply to keep running regularly 3 times a week, and Strava says I did 81.2 miles total, which is slightly up from June despite my running fewer days.
Considering the overwhelming heat here, car wreck, shopping for and buying a new car, continuing to caretake full time and having to take my mom to the doctor several times, Iβm satisfied. I was hoping to get some speed work in this month but 122 heat index days are not good for speedwork! Frankly βfaster than a speeding snailβ is speedwork at these temperatures!
See you guys in August!11 -

Ended the month with two days of hiking and no running, so was a little short of my goal.
Short hike report is that I hiked yesterday (Friday) in the rain and mud for just under 9 hours and finished peak #33 of 46. Then hiked again today in perfect hiking weather, cool with mostly sunny beautiful blue skies, for another 9 hrs 45 minutes. It was an experience to do these back-to-back long hikes. I was starting to have a hard time on the way down from the last peak, with my knees, back and hip flexors all saying that was enough. But I felt pretty accomplished and rewarded by the experience.
I'll try to post some pics and a little more of a report tomorrow after I get home. I'm ready for a good night's sleep and a lovely rest day tomorrow.

I didn't have time to post yesterday, because as soon as I finished running, I had to get ready to go to my great niece's 2nd birthday party and didn't get home until after 8 pm. I was happy to meet my goal and this is a PR for monthly distance for me. The most I ran before in a month was in Sept of last year, when I ran 61.587 miles, so beat that by 15 miles.
Today's 8 mile run was a lot better than last week's 11 miles. Of course, it was 3 miles shorter, so that helped. I did eat a couple of Honey Stinger chews during the run. I like the way they taste and they didn't seem to hurt my stomach or anything. I didn't totally run out of energy, so they must have worked. I also bought some sport beans I'll try next week and see which I like the best.
Overall, I was pleased with yesterday's run. The split times for the first 7 miles were between 12:50 and 13:05 min/mile. The last mile I did on my driveway. It was a lot slower than I thought it was going to be, at 14:01 min/mile. Still, I'm okay with that at this point. My Average HR was 144 bpm. Not bad.
I was upset with Garmin though. I had set up personalized HR zones. For some unknown reason, probably an update, it had reset the zones back to what Garmin says they "should" be. Therefore, the zones for this run aren't really comparable to all of the previous runs. It shows that I was in Zone 3 for almost 10 minutes, but, had it been set like I had it, that number would have probably only been around 2 minutes. It's just irritating that they don't have a way to notify you of that before you run!
Off to August and more hot running and hopefully another monthly PB as this is the Peak Phase of my training plan.4 -

124.46/100Β miles completed for July
I ran 2 miles yesterday to finish out July with 124.46 miles. Usually Saturdays are rest days but since it was the last day of the RTE July streaker I decided to go ahead and run a little.Β I also went to Big Spring for a memorial for my cousin who was killed in a car wreck 3 weeks ago. It was a 2.5 hour drive so I knew I would be in the car a lot and it was also a nice way to clear my head. I even uploaded it to Run with Hal and my score didn't go down for running off plan.
So that's it for me in July. I'll see you all over in the August thread. Thanks for setting us up @WhatMeRunning!
