@Womona that is an attractive glass and sparkling pink lemonade sounds tasty.
76 AF days left for me. They'll be mostly running days too. Now I that my injury has healed and I settled on the right pair of shoes finally, got to put this body to work after too many months derailed.
Like the Nike commercial: Just Do It10 -
Steak night ... 2 glasses of a nice red wine ... Etude Cabernet Sauvignon. Making a sautéed spinach & shiitake mushrooms with cider cream sauce as the side. Recipe that I picked up from the Mother's Day cooking class at Central Market6

well it looks like another AF night tonight?? maybe
Saw the ENT Dr today for my ear and sinus........Ok sinus: use saline rinse to get rid of all the nasties. Ear: see colleague who is ear specialist (he is more nose). Hole in eardrum, so will be on drops for 5 days and possible 10 days. The appt will be tough since he is based in a city over an hour away and comes to my area once a week. So will have to see him when I get back home. Gosh I hope this is the last of this mess. Have no idea how my eardrum decided to get a hole, Dr only idea is I had an infection that caused it or I poked something in there. In which case I would have known pretty quik I injured it.....hmmmm.....which one was it????
Ok off for now but may have a drink tonight, not sure.8 -

Oh my gosh that is aweful. Is it the ear for your hearing aide? It is making me cringe just thinking of your pain. Fingers crossed for resolve to this LONG LONG episode. 💓6 -

Wow has everyone been chatty here! I can't stop cracking up at @MissMay 's post. Well, and the fact that when I looked at her tally, at first all I saw was dry hump. Funny where the mind goes when it's not swimming in wine (cuz when I'm drinking wine, I'm not thinking of anything dry....) I digress. But have to make my own entertainment sometimes if I'm not drinking it.
Fast recovery wishes, @lmlmrn -- sounds painful beyond belief but hope the diagnosis is accurate and cure on the way.
@MissMay @lmlmrn How long is your art posted? I want to come see!!!
@Womona Beautiful! I picked up some new wine glasses (with Moose(s) Meese? on them) that everyone used last weekend--including me. I'm not stopping the fancy drinking glasses--they make everything more fun. And grown-up.
@lilylady3k Way to go to get an AF day in with temptation in front of you!
@vvlucky Way to change the habit! Completely understand drinking for stress. The ironic thing is that it actually promotes more stress in the long run. We know that in our head, but stress triggers the desire for a quick fix. Hope you can take some time for yourself with some walks and even breathing to help with stress.
OK I'm gonna stop picking those flowers. They truly weren't near anyone's driveway, but I'm guessing someone might have thrown seeds down. And of course I'm wogging down the road--roots flapping in the breeze--as all the workers from the Birches Resort are zipping to and fro. THEY probably planted them, lol.

So I fell off the wagon last night,
The wagon then ran me over.
Then the wagon dragged me up and down the street for most of the evening.
Ah well today is a new day. Onwards and upwards

@Stockholm_Andy Great attitude!
If you stumble, you get back up. If you fall off the wagon, you have the next go at it. And then the next. And the next. And the next.

I am thankful you got in here the following day to be unaccountable.
I know which wagon that is, I have been dragged by it as well.
I say we all hop on it and show it how steady and strong we can be while riding it out. 🤗

@mainelylisa DRY HUMP? Now that is very funny.
You know what else I have noticed growing amuck wild up here? Primroses! All through out the lawn. Hubby tries to mow around them which takes on a whole new lawn concept. Oh and how about beach roses? Can't kill the darn things. lol
We will be in the gallery show all Summer/Fall until we run out of art. Hahaha. Believe me, between @lmlmrn and I, we have it covered. So any time you can come to town we will have works in there.
Going to need to see the moose glases. Are they like the ones from Christmas Vacation with Chevy Chase?

2 AF days in, 75 AF days to go. How silly I am...I can't believe I am counting down the days to a "party day", but hey, this is what worked before.
Today too hot outside, already 91 at 4am which means 110-115 F. pretty soon. An hour on the indoor bike watching travel youtubes will have to do.
Yesterday is gone forever. Today is a brand new day. And the Phoenix Suns are playing tonight

@lmlmrn a perforated ear drum is most likely from an infection. Poor thing, that’s probably not helping. Glad you’re going to a good specialist. Good luck and feel better soon!
@Stockholm_Andy we all feel your pain- and today’s hangover! Hugs, and then onward!
@vvlucky im glad to hear things are settling down for you. Recognizing that you avoid bad feelings and drown out their voices with alcohol is such a huge step. Love that you want to change that habit. Welcome to the thread, and best of luck to you!
Last night was day 3 of AF, and tonight will be day 4. My weight is plummeting!!!!!!! Almost a pound a day so far. I’m sure it’s all water weight but I don’t care!! My stomach is flatter, finally! 35th high school reunion this weekend. Gotta look good! Vanity, thy name is woman! Or in this case, Womona!
I was tempted to get wine at lunch after 9 very long holes of golf with my son, but resisted. Loving the weight loss, it was super hot yesterday, and I had to be at work. I did have two sips of his drink, but didn’t order one myself.9 -
My usual goal, 16-20 AF for the month. This is sustainable long term for me.
Wednesday July 07 - Drinks. I had intended to be AF. After work and a little shopping we got a heavy rain storm which was so lovely and needed. I was sitting on my front covered porch enjoying it, and then decided that I would like to have drinks while I was sitting there. Of course up an entire pound in the morning, that is how it goes.
Rolling total - 3 AF days out of 7 days6 -
We have lots of beautiful wildflowers around here too.
So fortunate that you have lace dianthus in Maine as Wildflowers!
I didn't go into the rain to get photos of mine, but I will.
Hoping that the rainstorm didn't cause any lightning strikes to start even more fires. My garden really needed the good drenching.5 -
So it's settled...we're gonna do a Wagon Train party....all ABOARD! @Stockholm_Andy we'll sit on either side of you and whomever else might be feeling unsteady. OMG, I'm picturing us all on a 1960's flower power bus riding through the country.7
-
Wow what a way to wake up today.......
Looks like we all are on the wagon with @Stockholm_Andy ..When that wagon bumped you off I fell off with you. 3 whiskeys last night and a bit fuzzy this am. Today IS another day, so when the wagon swings back around to collect us who fell I want a window seat.
Feeling better this am, guess a couple of doses of ear drops are helping, so yeah. I was so worried about flying and the pressure. I asked about it and the Dr. looked at me like 'really?' Then he said you have a hole in your ear drum, no pressure can build up. sheesh (insert gibb smack here).
Ok so since I am feeling better what better thing to do than finish the landscaping today and tomorrow. Then I should be done for the summer. Just regular mowing and trimming after that point.
@MissMay your darn tooten we have enough beautiful paintings to last well into the winter if need be..7 -
Oh and just a comment on the wildflowers in your area.....ours are blackberry's and scotch broom. Great for the allergies!7

A friend of mine said, "Yeah, we wrang out every drop from it, didn't we?" He meant that we got everything there is to get from drinking and nothing good could come from it anymore.
So if you feel like you're missing out, try asking yourself: What am I missing, really? If you want to cut back or stop, perhaps it's that you sense you've gotten everything out of it and it's not giving you anything anymore.
It's really hard, especially when it looks like "the good life" with all the associations of friendship and family, celebration, culinary pleasures, creativity, romance... but it's not actually contributing to any of those things.9 -

Hello @JenneauInLA and great points.
Just take a look at advertising. Alcohol depicting a wonderful time, beautiful people and winning at sports are a few examples.

@lmlmrn my Mom would give us kids whiskey with honey in it when we were sick. So I am pretty sure you were using childhood remedies last night for your ear and sinus problems.
That wagon will be coming back around to pick everyone back up. No tickets necessary.7 -
AF this evening even though DH opened a bottle of wine!
AF 2x for July7 -

Really? I was picturing more of an open buck board wagon pulled by some horses, kind of like when you go pumpkin picking. Yours sounds like a lot more fun!5 -
AF tonight! That’s four days in a row! I honestly can’t remember being AF for this long in recent memory!9

It's a hippy wagon bus.
I sure got grumpy today. *kitten* weather. Dog always waiting until we're in the yard where someone is looking out the window when she poops. Didn't stick to exercise plan. Crappy work. Frustration with the house. And just general grump. I absolutely would have drank on a day like this to make me not care as much. Tomorrow nothing would have changed, except the feeling of leftover poison permeating my tired body.
Instead, I actually went from complaining (to myself), to starting to do something about it. I swapped sides of the bed with DH but he doesn't know it yet...muhahaha). I purged about 1/3 of my clothes. I never go anywhere and am too cold to wear my dresses. My tight clothes don't hug the right parts anymore, lol. Then I thought...a REAL reason to minimize clothing would be for my clothes to fit into ....wait for it....
AIRSTREAM! Need to figure out the finances, but I want to explore and make adventures and be warm when I want to be warm and meet cool people. In person.
Maybe it's a hippy wagon Airstream.9 -

Thursday July 08 - AF - Of course I felt like having drinks. I put a Piccolo (4oz) champagne (well, Freixenet) into the fridge. I am getting my second Covid Immunization after work tomorrow, and I have Saturday and Sunday off.
Rolling total - 4 AF days out of 8 days4 -
Another Orange Perrier in an awesome glass:
Truthfully, it just triggered me though, I really felt like it would have been much better with Gin. I will stick with AF beer on AF days.
I have planted Lace Dianthus in many places around my house, this is one.
Oh, I did look them up on the Wildflower site, https://www.wildflower.org/plants/search.php?search_field=Dianthus&family=Pinaceae&newsearch=true&demo=
Seems like they are native to:
USDA Native Status: AK (N), CAN (N)
What is AK? Arkansas?
The one on the left is new this year compared to the other one that has been coming up for quite a few years.
I am all about deep red and black flowers.
These are called Nicotina:
Snapdragon
Black Petunia
And the only white that I grow, Hydrangea, and it is still quite small but will get much bigger. Yes, it is netted because the deer would eat it otherwise.
