What irks you today?

I have a kitty, Bennett, who is incredibly clumsy. He does not know where his back legs are - they're constantly left behind. (I think he has some neuro issues, which just makes me love him more), but the end result is that he literally stands in his own pee in the litter box.
Today - what irks me.. those (albeit adorable) white litter footprints that I am constantly wiping up, litter bits left behind, and the sound of him scratching in the box while I'm 3/4 asleep. *cue jump up to try and catch him so he doesn't step in it again*
I am, however, thankful for hardwood (and washable) floors.5 -
Today I'm irked by clients who can't make up their mind.1

Related to the hugs debate is the question of shaking hands. Used to be a sign of respect was to shake their hand upon meeting, again upon closing a deal or sale. These days you can't tell who is ok with hand shaking, who rejects it out of hand (so to speak), and who would rather not but will tolerate it as a sign of respect. Having to ask, "Are you ok with shaking hands," just runs counter to what I'd been taught my entire life.
Is the hesitancy thing related to COVID/germs, or is there something more personal or social about it?0 -

They weren't waiting in the back at my local Wal-Mart...the Halloween aisle was filled with Christmas stuff almost a full week before Halloween actually happened...Is the hesitancy thing related to COVID/germs, or is there something more personal or social about it?
I've been assuming it's a COVID thing, as I rarely met anybody hesitant about shaking hands pre-COVID, but it's a common situation since the start of the pandemic.1 -
Christmas music the first week of November...I can support it throughout December, but c'mon man, can't it wait until then? Do we really need TWO months of it? At least on my radio I can choose a different station, but at the grocery store, where I have to go eventually, I don't have that option.
Totally agree. Growing up Christmas music wasn't started until the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. I also believe that out of respect for the Veterans of this world could we at least wait until AFTER November 11th before we start with the jingle of the overly commercial holiday (yes I am a bit Grinch-y).4 -

There's a whole contingent of people where I live who are proudly announcing that they put up Christmas decorations and their trees/lights Nov. 1st, as though the rest of us should be proud of that decision? They are unabashedly pro-early Christmas.
It's weird, because they almost have a cult mindset about it. Meanwhile, I refuse (as do some other people here) to put out anything until after Thanksgiving. However, whatever their reasons, mine are because that is just traditionally when it was done in my family. Decorations and tree lighting happen Thanksgiving evening or after. If we're buying a fresh Christmas tree, then it's usually the first week in December.
Besides, I feel I need a break between Halloween and Christmas of no decorations, no festivities and DEFINITELY no holiday music.
Besides, it feels like they play the same 5-ish Christmas songs over and over every Christmas and I dislike each one because of it. Every store, every radio.. the same five songs.- All I Want For Christmas Is you - Mariah Carey
- Last Christmas - Wham!
- Wonderful Christmastime - Paul McCartney
- Sleigh Ride - flavor of the month, really.. it's been covered so many times.
- It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas - Perry Como and/or Michael Buble, both are tragically overplayed at this point.
Just.. ugh.0 -

My local hospital. That has had these accessible parking spots blocked off for a very long time. Right next to the entrance to physical therapy.
Leaving open exactly three accessible spots that don’t require the disabled/aged/injured physical therapy patients to use stairs, or choose to walk on the sloped parking lot driveway.
The receptionist said they’ve had three of their patients fall there recently.
Three???? Were the first and second falls not enough of a warning???
Oh. And this is in the Pacific Northwest. Where it rains. Making winter months even harder to traverse this obstacle course.

Told my work partner that we were done with this section like three times and she just looks at me, nods, then just keeps going like I hadn’t said anything at all. 🤷🏻♀️ You’re doing unassigned work now weirdo.0

Sat in a presentation of medical professionals yesterday, explaining how having the vaccine does not prevent you getting, carrying, and spreading the virus, but that it may lessen the effects. Then in the next breath, they are saying that patients in the hospital who are isolated from everyone but hospital staff are getting infected because of UN-VACCINATED hospital team members.
Wait a minute now....if vaccinated people can be infected and transmit the virus, HOWINTHEACTUAL*KITTEN* do you know that they are not being infected by the vaccinated carriers?
You ask them that question and they almost choke trying to make you look like an idiot without actually answering the question.
They think we are a bunch idiots.
Thats my irk for the month. Thanks for listening.

The new look of the forums. How can you even tell when there's a new post?2

Can't edit but nevermind. Still needs to be more visible on the webpage. The yellow stood out.1

THIS. I hope they adjust and work with the flow because as is, it's impossible to tell "new post" threads from "I've already caught up on this" threads.
I don't, however, mind the layout. Just needs tweaking. At least it doesn't look like a forum from 2003 anymore.1 -

Are you using the app or a browser? If browser, mobile view or desktop?
Things are really easy to see/follow on my PC/Chrome, once you get used to the aesthetic changes.0 -

PC/Windows OS/Firefox - I refuse to use Chrome or IE.
I can see that things are bolded when they are "new", but I hope they put the "_ New Replies" bit back as I kind of liked that.0 -
I agree that the ___ new replies was nice, rather than the less useful "New" that they have now. I always liked knowing what I was getting into before actually getting into it. I'm not hopeful though.

The fact that there is a forum called "Chit Chat" and a thread titled "Chit Chat". As I try to figure out my way around the changes, I frequently confuse the thread for the forum.1

I'm having a good laugh that while they're updating the forums (ish), the homepage and pages for all of our feeds still look like archaic relics from ye' olden days (circa 2006 Myspace) of the internet. 😂
I would say I'm hopeful about the changes, but the track record on this site have not been, let's say, stellar.
Moderation is exempt: They usually do a good job of staying on top of all the weird *kitten* that happens here from time to time, regardless of the sub-forum.

I don't mind the layout, I mind that the blue background is gone. I like the preview of the last post posted tho.
I use Chrome on my tablets and Firefox on my pc and I don't think there's a place to change between mobile and desktop.
Edited to add: I don't know if things changed within the last hour but I can edit the post on the desktop but not when I tried on the tablet earlier.
Re-edited to add: When you back out of the thread, the "new" doesn't go away.
(I think I'm getting off topic, tho, and just need a place to complain.1 -
Maybe those are all the "crumbs" they're talking about. 😂

I don't really want to disparage anyone's hard work, but this new forum sucks balls.
Change for the sake of change, I reckon.
Please put it back like it was.

I’m sorry to say, I’m disappointed in the update. 😔

Every time I see you're name, Sugar Sugar by the Archies goes through my head.
You're welcome :)
And I kinda like but also kinda don't like how when you hit return on the keyboard, it's already double spaced.

Not a fan of the changes. Things are less intuitive, it's more complicated to search (and even harder on my phone) and all this white is blinding.

I'm mentally dancing to this song now, thanks.
