Zzyyggy, I saw Betty’s cupcakes, too. I want at least one of each different kind. They all looked yummy. We had another beautiful day after a bit of rain this morning. It windy out right now, but it’s 75 degrees and I wish we had days like this during the summer. Tomorrow it’s su to rain. I’ll have to plan on spending the day at the cybercafe.

Hi Linda, I'm pooped today. Did a bunch of laundry and then went for a walk. I'm also starving. I'm going to have the prime rib dinner with baked potato, salad and a coca cola. Lots of butter with that baked potato and full calorie salad dressing. For dessert I'll have some apple crisp with vanilla ice cream and an iced mocha. I think I'll go for a swim in the cyber pool first and then enjoy dinner on the terrace. I could really use a full day of sunshine in the real world.

I’m glad I ordered what you ordered Zzyyggy. It’s so good. I asked Viktor to drizzle caramel sauce over my apple crisp and ice cream. Yum!

In the Spring we frequently have rainy mornings and lovely sunny afternoons. That was today’s weather and yesterday’s, as well. I guess Spring is here to stay now. My azaleas are blooming again. I thought the buds would freeze when it got cold again, but no, the plants seem happy enough. The grass is really green and I hear more lawn mowers and leaf blowers every day.

Hi Linda, I wish it would warm up around here. We did have sunshine today and some warmth, but then it turned cloudy again and chilly. For dinner tonight I think I'll have a bowl of the french onion soup with lots of bread and butter, and a coca cola. For dessert I'll have some klondike bars and an iced mocha. Had the real thing today. Took the city bus up to Scout and Company on upper North Avenue to check the place out. The ride wasn't that much fun it was full of high school kids, but the place was cool, and the ice mochas were good. I had two. It's too far for me to walk. I may have to go earlier, they open at 7:00 or later.
  • *silently steps in & sits in the most comfortable seat ever* to myself: it's been years of uncertainty as to whether to visit or to keep idly passing by ... unsure, except for a want of the best water ever to be had *a glass of the clearest, cleanest water appears* to myself: how did that happen *takes a look around, notices a few people ... takes a sip, then a big drink & downs it entirely* to myself: that is truly the best ... so smooth ... hmm, maybe I could just sit here for a bit ... so relaxing (💤)

Good evening @rebecca_livinghealthy! Oh, sleeping. I’ll just tiptoe over here and have a glass of water. I’m so impressionable, although I also ordered a bowl of watermelon and cantaloupe fruit salad. Why I’m craving this, I have no idea. I’m awake—insomnia strikes again.

Zzyyggy, there’s no coffee shop you can walk to? That’s frustrating. There’s no way to easily walk to the store from where I live. The main road, even the state highway has no shoulder and there’s drainage ditches on the sides of the roads. While I do occasionally see people walking, it’s very dangerous
  • Such a restful sleep. Glad I stopped by. Hmm, seems someone was about & had some yummy fruit ... sounds good & will go perfectly with my soup later today -- I love brunch.

It's a lovely day, think maybe I will go for a walk & take in some of the sights around here. Maybe meet a few locals, too, and get myself more pulled together. I think this will be a good place to call home for awhile ...
  • Took a nice walk, extended it a bit. Noticed the vast gardens here, I think my brunch each day will be the "Soup of the Day" ... can't go wrong there, also some of the specialty bread and seasonal fruit will be a nice addition. Thanks for the suggested side dish of fruit as an accompaniment @LindaK125 sorry for your insomnia, not pleasant

I did visit around & noticed a couple groups/meetings of potential interest to assist in my goals. This cafe will definitely hold my heart & keep me centered. Oh speaking of, I did check on a room & turns out one had already been reserved for my stay ... it is so lovely, as well as, comfortable & comforting.

A nap sure sounds nice, however errands beckon. Hope y'all have an enjoyable day. Nice to meet you, Linda. In time hope to meet @Zzyyggy Take care y'all

Hi ladies, Rebecca-livinghealthy welcome to the cyber cafe. Yes we do have the best water ever here, and you're welcome to stop by anytime. Linda there is a bagel shop nearby which I haven't checked out but I hear it's pretty good. Maybe tomorrow. For dinner tonight I'm going to have the meatloaf platter with mashed potatoes, gravy, peas, and some parker house rolls. My taste of Home email had a recipe for them, and they looked good. A coca cola with that please. For dessert I'll have some apple pie and an iced mocha. I'm pooped tonight from all my swimming and may just hang out on the terrace and watch the sunset.

Dinner out on the terrace tonight. @rebecca_livinghealthy, the cafe’s chef, Francois, makes delicious soup. I’ve been eating soup everyday lately. It must be the weather and the fact that Sweetie, my husband, is the one making the soup. My plan for this evening was to order Francois’ chicken vegetable soup and have Viktor bring another bread basket to our table. Zzyyggy, Viktor promised to bring more Parker House rolls, too. We can even have Sunset dessert. Zzyyggy, you absolutely must stay awake for dessert, especially since you swam for 80 minutes (!!) this afternoon and can affect the extra calories. After dessert I think I’ll head on over to the Club Room. Igor is sure to have a fire going and I can sit in my recliner and read or nap. Useless (one of the cybercafe’s cats) will probably join me because Viktor always makes sure there’s a good supply of tuna treats.

Zzyyggy, I’m glad you have a shop you can walk to. Hopefully they make good iced mochas. Gee, I almost forgot to order dessert. Francois has some nice Parmigiana Reggiano and I’ll have some paper thin slices of that with grapes, dates, apples, and pears. A glass of a late harvest Riesling would be nice with that.

Sweetie went shopping today and came home with these huge green grapes that are wonderfully sweet. Plus, I really do have a nice piece of Parmigiana Reggiano. Of course, my drink of choice at home is water or chamomile tea. Although I admit that I still haven’t given up my cup of coffee in the morning, Zzyyggy. That’s so difficult to do.

Hi Linda, I didn't actually swim for 80 minutes. I only swam for an hour. The other 20 minutes was a walk down to the library from the Y by way of City Market. I have to do that again tomorrow because I left my driver's license in the copy machine after making copies of it. I hate it when I do that. The library called me yestarday to say that they had it, and would keep the license at the circulation desk. I'll pick it up tomorrow. It's a non driver's idea, fortunately I haven't needed it for anything. For dinner tonight I'm going to have lazagna, with garlic bread and butter and a coca cola. For dessert I'll have some ice cream sandwiches and an iced mocha. I think I'll have dinner out on the terrace tonight and watch the sun set over the ocean again.

Zzyyggy, I love the ocean view. I ordered a pot my favorite coffee and some of the scones from the bakery case. The cranberry orange scones look yummy. There were some iced lemon scones that I’m sure Sweetie will scarf right up. He loves lemon just like his mama. I tried to make some crispy little lemon cookies for her once. I was disappointed because they weren’t crispy at all. She loved them because they were all soft and buttery. Ha, dodged a bullet on that one. She was so funny when someone would give her sweets she really loved she would hide them and keep them for herself. At first I thought she didn’t like the sweets I made, but my brother-in-law explained that wasn’t the case. He said he always sent a box of Godiva chocolates at Christmas, but we never saw those chocolates. Of course, it’s probably good the kids didn’t get a chance to eat a couple of pounds of chocolate plus all the other goodies we all made. Every time I think about that, it makes me smile. She really was a very generous, sweet woman who loved us all and she adored her grandchildren. She loved making food for us and expected everyone to show up for every holiday so she could spoil us. And every time I have lemon desserts I think of her.
  • Quick stop by, gonna sleep in my actual bed tonight; even though these chairs are so comfortable. I had a lovely time on the terrace sharing dinner with y'all, thank you for the warm welcome. Wow, can't get over the intoxicating view -- the sights & sounds! So much to catch up on, I must've missed some of the conversation ... guess I had fallen asleep, sorry, that's my fault ... between the warm hospitality, the luscious, flaky scones & cup of hot peppermint green tea (my fave) -- so comforting. I did wake up to a beautiful early morning sunrise on the terrace.

Midday I wound up in a mood of heaviness & don't wanna's, so I found this massive, shady tree & sat next to it on the soft green grass with a light, cool breeze ... and then felt it all melt away. Much better thereafter.

Alright, gonna go stretch out, relax, and get some good zzz's, see y'all tomorrow.

Hi ladies, Linda hang onto those memories. I've been writing some of mine down journaling in the morning amongst the complaining, and whining. Rebecca-Livinghealthy welcome back. Those scones do look good. For dinner tonight I'm going to have a huge bowl of beef stew with lots of bread and butter for dipping. It got downright cold around here today outside and I've been warming up with hot soup and tea. The inside is warm enough. A coca cola with dinner as well. For dessert I'll have some chocolate chip cookies and an iced mocha. I'll have dinner by the fire place this evening in the dining room. Watch out for the over size Easter Bunny. Igor is at it with the decorations again. He's got Easter Bunnies, and Easter Eggs everywhere.

Whoa, that’s a mighty big Easter bunny by the front door. At least he’s smiling. The Easter egg tree is nice. I wonder where Igor found the pastel colored fairy lights. Rebecca—hope you did get some good zzz’s last night. Zzyyggy, I finally found a pair of sneakers that don’t hurt my feet. My podiatrist would hate them. They don’t have tons of cushioning or enough arch support or the higher heel sports shoes have, which is good because the stiff shoes and the higher rise make my feet hurt. These sneakers have a high enough instep for me and are more flexible. The Hokas I was looking at weren’t high enough in the instep. At least I have something comfortable to wear, although I’m still going to have to find a sneaker for walking.

We had one of those perfect Spring days where the sun was bright, the breeze was gentle, and the temperature was in the high 60’s. Perfect for an hour’s drive to the shoe store. We went into Charlotte because that’s where the local Hoka dealer is and I could return the shoes that didn’t fit and buy different ones. The area we were in was so pretty—everything greening up and blooming makes it even prettier.

I wouldn’t mind sitting by the fireplace with a cup of coffee and a couple of chocolate chip cookies tonight. It’s so nice to have a waiter that brings you fuzzy bunny slippers when you need them. Thank you, Viktor. I wonder how long I can sit here before I fall asleep in my recliner. Ah, my blue fleece blanket’s in the pocket. Perfect.
  • fuzzy blankie, fuzzy bunny slippers, fireplace, cup of tea 💤 bleary eyed & all 💤 well, ladies, I think I will go ahead & head to bed -- been seeing twinkling lights, a grinning bunny, random items in random places ... guess I'm more exhausted than had first thought 💤 alright here I go ... oh thanks for the assistance, such fuzzy hands 🐇 night ...
  • Thank you for your kindness. I will remember this place & keep it close to my heart. At this time I need to not be online. Take care & God bless, Rebecca

Hi ladies, Linda glad you found a sneaker that fits thats so important for walking. I'm getting so sick of Winter. For dinner tonight I'm going to have a bowl of seafood chowder with lots of bread and butter for dipping. A coca cola please. For dessert I think I'll have a bowl of apple crisp with vanilla ice cream and an iced mocha. Rebecca-livinghealthy hope you come back it's been good having you. Linda I wonder if we scare people away? Maybe it's that giant floating Easter Bunny in the pool. Oh well at least they haven't taken this thread down.

I hope Rebecca knows she’s always welcome at the cybercafe! Sounds like we won’t see her for awhile. Hope she’s okay. Zzyyggy, maybe we’re boring or perhaps ordering food you can’t have, but are craving, is too much of a trigger?

Yikes! Zzyyggy, when you said there was a giant Easter Bunny in the pool I didn’t think it would be that BIG! Did you notice the foot long glittering Easter Eggs hanging from the porch roof? At least the library hasn’t been decorated yet. You did explain to the guys why they can’t hide real Easter Eggs, didn’t you? Igor and Jorge were whispering about an Easter Egg hunt. I forbid them from going in my room at the Cybercafe Inn to hide eggs unless the eggs are plastic and filled with M&M’s.

There you are Zzyyggy, I thought I might find you snuggled into your recliner by the fire with dessert. I’m going to join you. Viktor will be bringing my apple crisp with vanilla ice cream right out.

Hi Linda, the boys do have fun don't they. Don't worry only plastic eggs will be used in the hunt. Our baskets should be ready by next Saturday if you put your order in. I'm getting a chocolate bunny, jelly beans and another chocolate bunny. For dinner tonight I'm going to have the Irish lamb stew with lots of bread and butter for dipping, and a coca cola. For dessert I'll have some chocolate chip cookies and an iced mocha. I think I'll hang out on the terrace tonight.

Viktor, I’ll have the macaroni and cheese with lots of veggies. Okay, call it pasta primavera and add lots of parmigiana cheese, please 😋. Betty had a raspberry-ganache cookie tarts recipe today. When I checked it out I saw the turtle tart recipe. That’s what I want for dessert. It will probably be too sweet—sounds just right.

Zzyyggy, you ordered a basket without M&M’s? Scandalous. I ordered a solid chocolate bunny, jelly beans, M&M’s, speckled chocolate eggs, Russell Stover’s pecan delights (turtles), and my mother-in-law’s Easter eggs—the little mini bite size eggs. I’ll share. Notice there are no Peeps. No one in my family or in Sweetie’s family liked Peeps so we never added them to our baskets. I see you didn’t order the Peeps either.

    Zzyyggy Posts: 1,169 Member
Hi Linda, not a big fan of Peeps either but I forgot about the m&ms oops. So an easter basket with a large chocolate bunny, plenty of m&ms and jelly beans of every color. For dinner tonight I'm going to have lasagna, garlic bread and a coca cola. For dessert I'll have some devil's food cupcakes with chocolate frosting and an iced mocha. Did I mention that I was in need of some chocolate therapy? I think I'll enjoy the terrace again tonight. Couldn't sit outside today that wind was just too blustery and cold.

Viktor, I’ll have a bowl of chicken soup, please. Chocolate therapy sounds good to me. Either that or a nap.

Hi Linda, I could use a roaring fire in the dining room right now. It's cold around here today. That wind is miserable. For dinner tonight I'm going to have a bowl of french onion soup with bread and butter, and a coca cola. For dessert I'll have some ice cream sandwiches and an iced mocha. Had the real thing this morning. Went to Scout and Company again. Took SSTA this morning, and my bus wasn't crowded at all. A lot better then last week.

Viktor, I’ll have the Chicken Santorini with the rice pilaf and salad, please. I see Zzyyggy had the guys get the fire going in the dining room. Looks like we’re settling in Viktor. A slice of the lemon poppyseed cake and espresso with a twist of lemon for dessert. Thanks.

Zzyyggy, the fire is so nice on a cold night like tonight. Well, near Charlotte it’s drizzling and a bit chilly tonight. Glad you were able to get your iced mocha this morning!

I think Igor is becoming more like my grandmother everyday. He’s delivering candy dishes with every dessert. It looks like there’s foil wrapped chocolates and little packages of jelly beans. My grandmother and her sisters always had candy dishes on every little table in the house. I’m not sure whether they put the candy out just for us or for themselves. My daughter-in-law used to do that until the littlest sweetie (aka our grandson) was old enough to reach the candy dishes.

Hi Linda, I had an Aunt who did that as well put candy dishes full of those little wrapped packages. I wonder if that's why my teeth were full of cavities. I am starved tonight. For dinner I'm going to have the meatloaf platter with mashed potatoes, gravy, peas and a basket of dinner rolls and lots of butter. A coca cola with that please. For dessert I'll have some chocolate chip cookies and an iced mocha. I think I'll enjoy the warm sun on the patio this evening. I'm also pooped tonight after my swim.

After eating the delicious dinner Francois made I think I fell asleep in my recliner out here on the patio. Now that the sun has gone down it’s not quite as warm, really anything under 74 degrees is starting to feel chilly. I think I’ll head inside to the Club Room, I can relax in my recliner with a cup of coffee, a good book, and some M&M’s and Dove chocolates. Zzyyggy you might need some recovery chocolate after your swim. (In my world chocolate makes everything better.)

Hi Linda, Yes indeed chocolate is the cure for everything, and I need it tonight. I'm starving. For dinner tonight I'm going to have a big platter of spaghetti and meatballs with garlic bread and butter, and a coca cola. For dessert I'll have a bowl of chocolate ice cream with chocolate sauce and an iced mocha. Hows that for chocolate therapy?

    LindaK125 Posts: 1,336 Member
Zzyyggy, your spaghetti and meatballs sounded so good I ordered the same thing. I got the Caesar side salad and Viktor promised to bring another basket of garlic bread for us. Chocolate dessert for me, too! I’m having a scoop of chocolate ice cream and a scoop of coffee ice cream (big scoops) with fudge sauce and chocolate sauce and brownie bits, chocolate covered espresso beans, a sprinkling of mini M&M’s, and whipped cream. Plain coffee for me because an iced mocha would make my dessert too rich.

I was tired before I ordered, but somehow that woke me up just in time to clean out the dishwasher. How fortunate.

Hi Linda, I wonder if the coffee woke you up. Tonight I'm going to have a roast beef grinder with the works, potato chips and a coca cola. For dessert I'll have some chocolate chip cookies and an iced mocha. I think I'll enjoy my meal by the pool tonight after a swim. Just keep the iced mochas coming Viktor.
