Julie - I have painted in different ways for years but I am finding ceramics a little challenging. Everything I have done is either very clearly defined as to where the “line” should be from one item to another or I have painted a lot of landscapes that is very free. With ceramics I am finding the “lines” between my snowman and toboggan are because of the way the ceramics are poured. This is my piece that I’m working on.
Today was an incredibly peaceful day at work, I got a lot of little things cleared off my desk. Funny how that happens when a lot of people are absent!
Heather - congratulations on your book upload!!!!
My daughter had texted the other day that the Grands needed a break from one another. Tonight I told her to bring Miss Michaela for a sleepover.
I had bought a dress for her for Christmas a few weeks ago, she has had a growth spurt in the last week or so and I was scared it wouldn’t fit for long after Christmas so gave it to her today. She will be 6 in January and is wearing a size 8. She needs it for the length more than anything else.
Tomorrow her and I will do some stuff around here, then we are going to go to IKEA. I will take her home from there and bring her brother back out. This will give them a weekend apart and doesn’t overwhelm me with both of them at once. Sunday I have an appointment for a pedicure. I am using a gift certificate that was given to me by my boss during the peak of the payroll implementation. I will drop Jonah off before my appointment.

Tracey - I can just feel that snuggle.
I love a one-to-one.
My book is now live on Amazon. It's called THEREFORE I AM. It's in both paperback and Kindle. Of course, I would love those of you who are interested, to buy the actual book I laboured so hard over, but it is more expensive. I set the lowest price they allowed. It is also on Kindle Unlimited. The actual purchase of the Kindle edition is underneath, at the bottom, in small print, but it is there.
My name is Heather Eyles. You will probably have to type in both name and title to find it.
If you are interested in buying it, and I know some of you bought the first volume of the memoirs, Me I Am, please read the blurb carefully to make sure it is right for you. It is fairly explicit at times.
I hope it is also fun. Life as a teenager in the 60s.
Thank you everyone for being so supportive as I went through this process. It's been several years to get this one out. You have kept me going....and going....and going...
Lots of love to all, Heather UK xxxxxxxx9 -

22: Share a hopeful quote, picture or video with a friend or colleague: this is a hard one. T is worried about my booster choice, sent a video with love and prayer. Tried to respond likewise.
23: Recognize that you have a choice about what to prioritize:
Pfizer booster today, immediate metallic taste, sore arm, minor headache. Felt well enough to take dogs to powerline and make step goal marching to Clanadonia on YouTube.
Kim in Brisbane I am so jealous of your aquarobics! Con VERY gratulations for taking off those inches.
Julie, what Kim in N Calif said. ((hugs)) Sounds like you’ve already grieved, maybe this former friend is finding it easier to say “$cr3w you, goodbye!” than “I love you, goodbye.”
Debbie thanks for the CBD info.
Beth son’s interview sounds hopeful. Well done!
Heather congrats and cheers!
Rebecca wise words about giving ourselves grace to feel our messy emotions. If we just stuff them down, they come out in really undesirable ways. Agree about the “get over it” kind of “advice.” How lonely those advisors must be!
Allie brava for keeping on even though tired. Hope your sleep tonight is restorative.
Welcome back @cormierannie! Would you let us know what you’d like to be called and your general locale?
Joe’s daily mailbox walk with Shadow gives me a structured time to groom Tumble. When Joe and Shadow leave, she runs to the door, barks angrily, then wails/howls/woo woos brokenheartedly. That’s my cue to put her on the table, give her special grooming-only treats and work on those mats. Making progress!

I don't know - he thought I was being over sensitive - maybe I was - on one point - not on all - he was less irate than I was yesterday actually. there is no way to know how one will feel bout this or that in a week but to get there ! thanks for your kind words.
KIM thanks for your kind words too.
TRACEY thanks for explaining your ceramics. it sounds like you got into it, which is good since you said you were feeling tired.1 -
I'm at café and was re-correcting 10 pages this morning; that was a good - not too hard task to get me into it today.
thank goodness- this helps me less be in a more acceptable and bearable mood than yesterday.
it is nice to be progressing.
I feel bad about my part in online tiff. I think the fundamental stuff is his issues more - but
I have a corrector - and sometimes she doesn't understand all (often my mistake and sometimes she doesn't know the specific terminology - just from time to time -rarely).
So I need to go through the pages line by line and answer to her corrections or questions. then she sends it a 2nd Tim I review a 2nd time and send it back and she does a third maybe (by this time it might be just a 2 or 3 corrections and we call and see any outstanding questions.
I had sent her 5 pages more a few days ago which she is working on so I need to work on the next 5 to send her today - since I have a deadline. I'm working on a detailed plan - so it's not really that hard to work this way, since the plan is already clear. 1st 10 pages intro plan next 10 1st part plan, next 5 2nd part plan, last part 3 part plan. I can refer to long conclusion sent and skip conclusion plan if we are tight which we probably will be.
We are each trying to aim for 5 pages per day- sometimes we manage and sometimes we don't.
Today :
-30 min exercise ,
1h cleaning,
-5 pages produced and sent,
-track all
if time maybe go to a short art -y art performance by someone I know a bit - at 7pm, juste to get out of the house and not become a total hermit.
usually I'm too tired and can't be bothered - and so have become somewhat of a post- confinement hermit.
my feet are rather chilly (didn't put on wool socks and I'm outside on patio and it's currently 53° degrees out at midday.1 -
Morning ladies
Ugh another night of insomnia, this is ridiculous.. im not having caffeine, im not eating before bed ,i didnt turn out the light until 10 and still tossed and turned all night long, finally if fitfully woke up at 7 and have been awake since..
Heather - congratulations you have done it again.. will have to look into buying both books though im not much of a reader, though when i do read i usually read for hours on end until I finish a book.3 -
The paperback version may take a couple of days to arrive on the international websites, but it should get there soon. This is the front cover, screenshotted from Amazon.
The Kindle should be there already.
I am very attached to the paperback as it cost me blood, sweat and tears .
Love Heather UK xxxxxx3 -
Heather- Congrats on this second installment of your memoirs! I have the first book; will be ordering this one today! I am a hard copy book reader. I just like the feel of a book in my hands. Looking forward to reading this! I love the sample with the description of the new home deco! I remember those colors from my youth! lol
Tracey- You and Michaela look adorable! I am aching for some grandson snuggles of my own. Just a couple more months; as I will definitely be heading to Texas once grandson number three is born.
Barbie- Ugh! So sorry you are having to deal with a "poison pill" for a "friend". Hugs to you!
Barbara- The slime that I made with the kids was a very basic cornstarch and water slime. For me, the very cool thing about that slime is the can slam their fingers or hands onto it and it remains hard; but when you pick it up, it oozes between your fingers and onto the table or floor below. Perfect example of how something can be a solid AND a liquid.
Allie- Thank you for sending me the kid craft/activity ideas that you think we might like. I can always use an extra set of eyes looking for new ideas! I totally understand the enjoyment of driving your son once in a while. It is a good time to connect.
Pip- So many wonderful pics of your fur kids! I love them all!
Julie- Your statement about how the french view the "happy americans" made me laugh. My daughter brought home many friends from different countries, when she was in college. The "weirdness" of american people being so friendly and smiling all of the time was a frequent discussion. lol They said they were unnerved by strangers striking up conversation while waiting in lines or just passing by. The only two who found the friendliness kind of "charming" were from Amsterdam and Ghana.
Rita- I saw that you were subbing for a kindergarten class. Just curious if you have a preferred age to teach? (I think I would love third graders)
Cheri- I LVE that fall poem! Going to steal that and use it on my facebook page!
I took the kids for our daily walk, yesterday. We walked four miles but at our halfway point the 2 1/2 year old decided she wanted out of the stroller. So I unbuckled her and got her out. She collected about six acorns and a small pine cone and put them in her pockets, then walked to the empty spot at the front of the stroller. lol I Love that the babies know from watching, that once they get out of the stroller, they have to hold onto the sides while they walk. She walked the two miles back to my house. Her older brother holding her hand and telling her things like, "You are a big girl now, Pey!" "You are doing so good!" "I am so proud of you!" Got the pic to send to their mama; because they spend so much time fighting when they are home! lol
Well, I did my grocery shopping last night. The reason: I got my C-19 vaccine. I figured I might as well do my shopping while I was out; that way, if I had any bad side effects, I could just rest today and tomorrow. Just a bit of a sore spot where I got the shot. Definitely not as bad as the (dTap) shots. Those make my arm ache from neck to elbow. This just feels like someone gave me an "arm noogie".
Anyway, signing off so I can take a shower. ttfn xoxoxo KJ (Kelly)6 -

My parents got appointments for booster shots! Yay!
I'm feeling much better. Staying in bed for a day really helped beat this virus, whatever it was.

Heather ... Congratulations on the second installment of your memoir!
Son has made it through the next round of interviews...second one on Monday. We have to go shopping to find him something to wear. (First interview was through Zoom and he got away with looking presentable with a headshot). This has him in a full blown anxiety attack as he has put on a lot of weight and we need to find something "professional" off the rack. I feel badly for him. It resurrects all of my own old "fat fears."

Bananas - We haven’t used garlic in a long while. DH is especially sensitive to garlic. I use green onions in cooking and salads. We both like them. I hope you feel better soon. Pain, chills. fatigue and a headache are miserable. :ohwell:
Machka – I love your array of mustards. I particularly like Dijon. I am also a fan of parsley, sage, rosemary & thyme in cooking. I have them all growing in pots outside.
Beth – Sending good wishes for your son. I hope his interviews lead to a job he will enjoy. :flowerforyou:
Cheri - Love the fall leaves poem. George Cooper is new to me.
Barbara & Rebecca – DH knew the way to the doctor’s office and all went smoothly. They sent a sample of my tissue to a lab for analysis. We haven’t heard anything yet. It was a tiny spot and the dermatologist said it was completely removed with no likelihood of return. This group of women are the best! I am not worried. about test results.
Terri – We’ve had our third Pfizer CoVid booster shots, too. We each also had a flu vaccination. Hopefully, we’re good to go. We plan to visit our son and daughter in law in Virginia. We have done everything recommended to stay healthy and to avoid anything contagious. :flowerforyou:
Allie – Fixing knitting goofs is a time-honored experience. Starting over is part of the process. I know that I do it at least once each time I make a blanket.
Tracey – The photo of you and your granddaughter is precious!
Barbara – DH had a headache after the Pfizer booster, too. :ohwell: I was lucky-no headache at all.
Heather – The cover of your new book is eye-catching. It looks like it will be a big success.
We have a rainy day and it feels good to be cozy inside.

bananasandoranges wrote: »an article on "Toxic Positivity". It was interesting. How there are some people that believe in " all will be well", put on a happy face, and "I am fine, everything is fine. But everything is not fine, and showing the true feelings, and emotions is somehow making them less than, in their mindset. I am all for processing, and feeling my feelings.
Rebecca hum how to say this. here in France people tend to be more critical and more complain - y ... so they are not the biggest victims of toxic positivity! they are aware of USA positivity - and are, on average, very wary of it. In fact there are good sides of both. it's a pain in the butt to always have to be cheery and "on" when we are not. it is nice to process to be honest... but being with complain-y, critical people is not enviable either... balance is a good thing.
Balance is a good thing. I think that article came to me at the right time. Three years ago my youngest would be on leave at home here, preparing for his Japan duty station. I had just bought a birthday card for him, for his birthday is next month. The fact that I kinda blew it with his box I sent earlier this week, and I had forgotten all about his birthday, had me bummed. I had lots of things on my mind, so I processed by slowly working myself up into a silent cry fest. Listening to Pandora on my earbuds, working a Sudoku puzzle, and tears just running down my face quietly. Husband looks over and I shrug, like a silly puppy. He comes over and I boohoo on his shoulder. I am frustrated at my son at this point. I did feel better just getting all that out. I wrote him a letter to include in his card. I wrote things like:
-A family can't just exist, it does need to be tended. The exchange of stories bouncing off each member, the support we give each other.
-This isn't how we raised you. I understand you are an adult, and have responsibilities, but there is a certain responsibility as a son and checking in is one of them, (even a simple postcard thrown our way).
Things I have not said:
I am not getting any younger, I didn't know I would spend it worrying so much! Its taken a toll on me, this year.
