Janet - You and your twin are both lovely. I like the photos & I think the right sister is you and quite lovely. Your granddaughter takes after you. She is lovely, too.
Heather—I would love to take my grandchildren to school—but nor very often. Too much distance between us. Oregon and Illnois are very far apart. I wish we had a transporter from StarTrek. :flowerforyou:
Barbara – We will see our son and DDiL’s children in a relatively short time—a few months. I wish were more used to travel. This will be a challenge for DH & me. We rarely travel. :ohwell:
I am ready for rest even though it is relatively early in the evening.
Have a good evening.

Sue in WA, she is really too cute for words.💖👍. Every time they send me pics I say now these are the cutest ever, then I get more, no now THESE are the cutest. They are gonna have to keep an eye on her, she'll have the boys carrying her books and such!😂😂
I just love her to pieces.

First day of work so no formal exercise. It appears that I’m to work from 7 until I’m done which makes me wonder why not drag it out and get paid for that extra time? Well, we shall see what happens. Supposed to work tomorrow so I might just go for a walk after work. Guess I’m going to have to change my habits to exercising right as I get home from work. Guess I can go to the gym on the weekends
Barbara – Vince goes to get his INR checked once/month. The MD keeps suggesting he go on Elaquest (? sp), but he’d like to stay with warfarin. It’s been around a long time and we really don’t know the long term effects of Elequest. Dying the sheet for a possible Halloween decoration. Don’t think we’re going to use it, but we may eventually, When I was in college, I would regularly have pizza and wine. So KFC and champagne sounds perfectly reasonable to me.
Cookies: I was asked at bowling to bring something Monday since they’ll be celebrating the birthdays for this month. I’m thinking of chocolate chip cookies and maybe some sort of mixed fruit or cheese (my downfalls). Better not have cheese since that’s one of my downfalls.
M – I like sauerkraut but I couldn’t stand the salt. Someone on here (I don’t remember who) suggested this recipe that only uses 1T of salt. I’m liking that one so I buy when cabbage is on sale. No, I didn’t know that BK tried to set up in Australia. Interesting…..
Fast Food – Vince laughs at me because he’ll eat at a fast food place when we’re on the road and I’ll take my own food with me. But I do have to say that I did try the Impossible Burger at BK when they first had it. I’ll eat Subway and (believe it or not) Five Guys has this veggie that isn’t bad.
Julie – giving away the cookies to me is a win-win. I get to have just a little, enough to satisfy me, and the workers get to have some for their break room.
KJ – how exciting...another boy!
Worked, went bowling, ceramics. I’m beat.

BK did successfully set up here in Australia ... but the name is Hungry Jack's rather than Burger King.

5: Be a realistic optimist. See life as it is, but focus on what’s good. That carpet will never be perfectly clean, but it can be a little better now
Motivation: changing linens reminded me why I want to be stronger=to be able to lift the mattress corners and edges to tuck in sheets. Also to be able to lift 30+ pound Tumble at need. And to be able to rise from any seat with ease if not grace. Got a little workout in digging out the weights and moving stuff around. Tomorrow will send thanks that I’m able to start again actually do the BB&B YouTube I found today.
Machka, here Shadow’s dark fur (clogging the Dyson 3 times today) signals approaching winter Tumble is seasonally independent, she sheds her long grey/black/white and soft white undercoat 24x7x365-1/4.
Julie I don’t get bored walking, thank goodness! Just easier to do it when committed to a time/place with strolling buddy.
Janet what a beautiful smiling face on your dear Callie.
Heather you have a tender heart.
Vicki your suggestion to Tina made me smile. Prayers for your DH and Thursday’s appointment.
Tracey the chair hooks Your new chair is very sleek and attractive. Washable rug, now that’s something I need  I used to have a 2 or 3 coke a day habit. Now its 2 or 3 cokes a year. Chips are a monthly treat, with an AF beer of course!
Michele the gals at my church in Boise had a recipe that called for rinsing the (store bought in a jar) sauerkraut to reduce the saltiness. Me, I like it salty!
Katla I wish you had a Star Trek transporter too!, Then you could pick me up and we could go, and still be back in time for dinner
Thinking more about Terri’s atomic habits, (was it you Barbie who first recommended that book way back when?), doing just one thing to remove obstacles or make the desired behavior easier to do. Today it was setting out the weights to make it easier to do BB&B/SWSY. Also hung the big cat picture that was part of the pile blocking access to the sewing machine. Then, as I was vacuuming, thought about (again Barbie? Gretchen Rubin’s?) “don’t let the perfect be the enemy of the good.” Realized that the floor will never be perfectly clean, but it can always be just a little bit better. Huge frustration/obstacle reduction!
Lighter, lovelies!

Facebook went out here around 4.30 pm, just as I was making my first post in absolutely ages! I thought it was me and kept retrying for over an hour. I found out that the whole lot had gone down on the news. WhatsApp and Instagram. I use WhatsApp a lot.
So I used the normal text to communicate with my son and friends.
Went to bed. Set the alarm on my phone. (Of course I am awake before my alarm) Then at 12.40 am I was woken up by a succession of notifications as WhatsApp came back on and previous messages from family and friends arrived!!! Pleased to see my Facebook post had finally made it. I had a bit of trouble getting back to sleep, but managed it.
Now just waiting for a suitable time to get up and get our day started before the kids arrive.

The rain and wind passed through overnight and the day dawned bright and crisp. Gorgeous autumn weather.
The girls arrived at 8 and we set off at 8.20.
I went ahead with Edie while patient DH brought up the rear with dawdling Bea. Lovely chat with Edie about her holiday hotel in Majorca. Did you know that when it looks as if the pancakes have run out , suddenly a whole new lot of fresh ones appear!!!! Wow!
We also had a long conversation about making deliberate mistakes, which I did once for a Leadership course.
Walked back in the sunshine and stopped off to buy bagels to make smoked salmon and philly ones for lunch.
Happy morning.

Tracey - I wish you many happy evenings in your new chair! Hooks are fabulous.
Barbara - You seem to be getting IT at last. Why does it take us humans so long? I feel I have made huge strides in the last few years. DON'T LET THE PERFECT BE THE ENEMY OF THE GOOD is the saying that has most changed my life, along with the Serenity Prayer. I'm now working on Consciousness and Presence.
Wish me luck!!!

Good morning all! Happy Tuesday! I am generally not an "I hate Mondays" sort of person; but for most of yesterday, I was emotionally drained. As usual, I took the kids for a walk and while we were walking Little Boy A (age 3) told us that they went and put flowers on his daddy's grave over the weekend. (backstory: his father died of cancer when A was just 10 mos old). He said that mommy and sister (age 8) cried a lot. He then whispers to me "Mommy cries all of the time." In my little group I have two little ones that were adopted by a single woman; so "daddy" is a strange concept for them. Little Boy B (age 4, adopted) asked A, "Why did your daddy die? Do you miss him? Do you have another daddy?" A answered all of the questions and then said "I need a new dad." By this time I was walking with a huge lump in my throat, on the verge of tears. Then B walks to the other side of A and holds his hand the rest of the way home. The whole conversation took only 15 minutes, then the boys pretty much talked and played as usual for the rest of the walk/day. But I was just drained. My heart hurt for this little guy and I was overcome with love for the compassion that B showed to A by taking his hand and walking with him. I sent text msgs to both of the moms, letting them know that they might hear a bit about dads and death at home and the reason. Just UGH! Too small for such big issues!
Anyway, after the kids got picked up, I went to Planet Fitness with my son (who has a membership). I spent an hour on cardio and burned about 400 calories. That felt good. I haven't been in a gym in about four years. Although I would much prefer going in the early morning (less people), it wasn't crowded and it was extremely motivating. We are going again tonight and I will do 30 minutes on the treadmill then do some upper body work.
Heather - Wow! That is a LOT of rain! Glad you didn't have to deal with that! lol I love the story about Edie and the magic pancake refills!
Tracey- Those hooks are fabulous!
Machka- Laughing about your meme! That was me, yesterday, as I silently swore at my phone/internet service!
Oooops! 7:10 and I have to get my trash bin to the curb before the kiddos get here! ttfn xoxoxo KJ (Kelly)8 -

Some of my pens ... I've really got into this colouring thing. I look forward to coming home each evening to colour a bit more of whatever picture I'm working on.
My lilac is coming into bloom!!! They aren't particularly common here, but I love them and wanted one, so this was last year's finishing uni pressie!
Just a couple things making me smile these days.

I have to admit, I got a little weepy when your four-year-old little one comforted the other by holding his hand. It's a big step emotionally when the little ones can see and recognize someone else's pain and know what the right answer is to help. Actually, it's a big step for anyone - I've known more than one grownup who hadn't progressed that far.
Heather -
Glad you got your grands to school. Sounds like you're finding that, when you're an active grandparent, your schedule must be flexible. I love seeing you in their lives as it seems to bring you so much joy; it's wonderful to see you so happy.
Tracey -
Love the chair - hope you get many comfy nights in it - especially with winter coming on.

Hoping for a swift and painless recovery from your cataract surgery.
Sue, Rori, and others coping with grief, we are all here holding you up.
Sitting in my recliner as well, noshing on a Lunchable for breakfast. If you pick the right ones, they are actually reasonably good nutrition, with 11 grams of protein in the Ham & Cheddar one. I just discard the cookies when I open it, get rid of that temptation. The Lunchables are high in sodium, but I crave salt these days. And only 250 calories when you discard the cookies.
Corey just called to say "good morning." He always does when I sleep through his 5:15 departure - just checking on me to make sure I'm feeling well. He will call again at lunchtime and then on the way home--he always calls me when he gets out of work to see if there's anything I need. There are times in my life when that would have made me feel quite smothered, but it makes me feel treasured and loved instead.
Slept for seven hours last night in two shifts of 4 and 2 hours, up for a bit in between. I'll take it. It clears much of the mental fog, sleeping that much.
Whoopsie, Egg just did a drive-by gallop. Probably need to check and see if she needs food!
Later, y'all,

Good morning everyone!! To answerMacka's question, today I am helping my daughter out at the horse ranch. I started out the morning with 2 hours of strenuous chores. Very exhilarating and I'm always in good company! Horses all around me as well as other animals! Shep is here so I have a fantastic time having him around! Today it is beautiful out sunshine and will be in the lower 70s today which is very odd for Minnesota!!
I hope everyone has a great day! Now on to the next set of chores!

Hi Gals,
Machka - A day off with no “to dos” I have not had one of those in 11 years since I started my business. But it would include sleeping past 5am, the beach, one great coffee, breakfast food – probably eggs benedict that I don’t cook or clean up after…. Part of the time on my own part of the time with a friend. But with a friend that would make decisions --- I would love it if I could make a list like this, designate a day and have someone else do the planning and driving… but that’s not likely.
Kelly – I was tearing up through that whole story, sadness for Mom, sister, Boy A – tears of amazement for boy B’s compassion – and realizing that you needed to let the tears flow but really couldn’t. The boys showed so much about good communication, compassion, and humanity. Tough questions in adult minds but the kids didn’t know so asked, simple clear questions and got answers. No assumptions, no politics, just ask – respond and then reach out and provide caring. The world could learn a lot from Boy A and Boy B.

A very sweet German friend of the families taught me how she did saurkraut- she grated and sauteed a fresh cabbage and mixed in a jar of store bought kraut. It had better texture and the flavor was amazing. I still do that now.

Picked up Bea, brought her home. Max was having a piano lesson. Edie arrived later with my son after her music lesson.
Cooked the girls pasta for tea.
Max is going to have fish and chips with us adults when the parents return. The three have gone off to look at yet another school for Max. I've lost count of how many they have visited!!
I had a nap this afternoon as I was knackered. Legs aching. Took some pain killers. Will take some more before we walk home tonight.
All good. I am blessed.

Argghh! So frustrating! Back in May or so, I got a new patient Dr appointment for my mom. The wait list was until November. So today they called and my mom cancelled the appointment. She says she doesn't remember making it. So between this and not seeing her cardiologist, she hasn't seen a doctor all year. She is still mentally stuck on the doctor that left town. I keep saying everybody chooses their own path, but this is tough. She doesn't really know what she is doing, but she knows enough to interfere. So stubborn. Anyway thanks for listening.
Annie in Delaware11 -
Update my mom found the appointment on the calendar which convinced her to allow us to call back. Apparently my mom sounded so confused on the first call that they didn't cancel it. At least as far as I can tell. So no harm done. I think I will call back tomorrow to double-check. We still ought to get some blood work done before the appointment.6
-
Today I shipped the baby blanket I knitted to our daughter in law. We are planning to visit in person, but I wanted this to arrive before we get there. We are planning to be there in November. ❤️

I have read posts but have little to add to comments already made.
Having another earlyish night as we are up early tomorrow to do our weekly groceries. Afterwards we are meeting with some of our gardening friends at a local garden centre for coffee, and to buy our seeds for next spring.
(((Hugs))) to those who need them.
Welcome to our new folk.
Cheers to all.
☘️ Terri2 -
Annie: Much commiserations. It hard when parents get to that stage. It often feels like you are wading through treacle. (((Hugs)))
KJ: So much maturity in such young children. 🥲
Heather: Looking after the grands can be a double edged sword. Our energy levels often desert us.2 -
Gave the girls their bath and chatted to Edie. She used my free photo app called Polish to doctor a photo I took of her in her rabbit night suit.
Then the parents returned and we ate fish, chips and mushy peas.
Walked home to bum up the calorie burn.
Then watched The Great British Bake Off with a glass of Pernod, feeling as if we had done a good job today.
We have offered to have the kids for a sleepover on the 16th. Nothing makes DH happier than seeing the kids and it is his birthday on the 17th. We will have a big birthday breakfast with PANCAKES and croissants. Just like a posh hotel.

Barbara I am aiming for better too. I am realizing it is time for major clean out while I am still iin good shape. We have lived in our home over thirty years. DH is on board to making improvements too. We are going to try and hire a painter for the inside if we can. The outside painter I tried this summer was a bust. I will do the painting if will do not find someone. I have painted most of the rooms in our home at least once since we moved in.4
