    Great running everyone.

@SummerSkier and @shanaber Thanks for your thoughts on my back. It is getting better. I did run on the road today and could feel it tightening up before a mile was up, but I kept going and it felt better. It's just a little tight tonight. Fingers crossed it is almost better.

Nice race @sweetdaisy13 ! It sounds like you did your running club proud.

I did run an easy 2.0 miles on the road today, ending at mom's for lunch. It felt pretty easy and my back is holding up pretty good. I can feel it tonight, but I think that is more from watching movies while lounging on the couch all afternoon. Not the best thing to do when your back is bothering you. I averaged 12:16 min/mile and ran the last 0.2 mile at a 10:09 min/mile pace. That felt fairly easy too, but I was on a level/downhill part of my route. Still, I was pleased with the run today.

On the way to church this morning, we saw 5 deer on a hill near my house. One of them was black. I've never seen a black one before. Poor quality pictures under the spoiler - they were fairly far away.

I hunted deer for 50 years and, although I saw some white ones, I never saw a black one. Melanism among deer is very rare.

I looked it up and that is a very unusual deer! Not only is melanism rare in deer, in the photos I could find, none of the melanistic deer had a white throat, they were all solid black. So I was wondering if it was darker without being actually black, but all the darker colored deer I could find had lost the throat marking as well. Nifty deer @quilteryoyo !

@rheddmobile I didn't even notice the white patch on the deer's neck. That would make it piebald, which is still rare, but not quite as rare. Since there was only that small area, I'm still calling it black. I hope you get to see the cardiologist soon. Glad your run was uneventful.

@marisap2010 I hope you're feeling better and that your race on Saturday goes great! Your body is working hard while you're sick - there's no need to make up that extra run.

    Nice deer @quilteryoyo

@ContraryMaryMary best wishes on your move!

I was able to do a bunch of housework, and a short home-gym workout today. I'm not as tired as I was yesterday, so that's a step in the right direction.

Down some of miles this month, that's okay, made my monthly goal and I'm feeling good on longer runs. I need to read the thread as usual!

Hope everyone had a great holiday, I spend 4 days with Skip at the beach (and a football game at her school). Sorry for the picture overload, had a chance to run some on the same course we'll do doing a HM (me) and Marathon (her) in February.

Sorry for the picture overload - I love watching her do her thing during the games. She was directing all the stuff that goes on during commercials for the jumbotron, like they had senior day, introduction of the SBC championship Girls volleyball team, all that stuff.

Thank you all I had a fantastic time visiting with my girl. When did she grow up, can’t believe she’s a college senior! I had a big laugh after the game with her, I sat next to the sweetest man and his HS senior grandson. I totally enjoyed the game more because of them. Driving back to the beach Skip said “what a sweet old man” I said you know he told me he was 62, 2 years older than I am. She looked at me and said “what a sweet old momma you are” LOL

@rheddmobile I hope you are okay! How scary. Freaking ER. My friend was just telling me he had a cardiac event about a week ago when running with his kids on bikes following with him. He’s okay I pray you are too.

@WhatMeRunning – that is a scary reply from a doctor

@Teresa502 glad you are feeling better

Great job to those who reached goal and great job working hard for those who did not. It’s all about getting out there.

@martaindale sounds like a much nicer loop than a track.

    @shanaber wow on the winds.

    Happy Birthday @AlphaHowls

@polskagirl01 I’m sorry 2C doesn’t sound good to me at all LOL Too funny on the squirrels. Our one state park has a white one. I know someone recently posted a picture of him, I need to go find it.

@quilteryoyo sorry your back is still giving you issues

@katharmonic if I tried 8 minutes of burpees the EMTs would have to come get me.

    Nov total: 69.4/70 miles

    11/2: 2.2 miles
    11/3: 3.1 miles
    11/5: 2.1 miles
    11/7: 14 miles
    11/10: 2.2 miles
    11/14: 3.5 miles
    11/15: 3.5 miles
    11/17: 4.8 miles
    11/18: 3.1 miles
    11/20: 7 miles
    11/22: 4.1 miles
    11/23: 4.5 miles
    11/25: 3.3 miles
    11/26: 8 miles
    11/29: 4 miles

Back home and an easy 4 miles this morning. It was chilly, in the mid 40’s and clear. I love this time of year where the weather is crisp and cool!
I read a book on the Hanson’s method and am considering giving it a shot for a future training segment. It was interesting because the long runs are shorter than the plans I typically use but there are more days a week of running, with the idea being that cumulative fatigue from multiple shorter runs mimics the feeling of your long run being more like the end of the race than the beginning, where your legs are fresh. The overall mileage is also substantially higher than I have been running the last couple of years.
This training segment so far has made me realize that I am not really progressing any longer, and I think some of that is just because I am not doing anything new. If you want your body to adapt, it needs new challenges. While I don’t know that I will ever be “fast” I do think I have some room for improvement and I would love to see what I am capable of.
I don’t remember anyone specifically mentioning if they used these plans in the past but was curious if any of you have tried them and what your thoughts (good or bad) were on the experience.

Nice pictures @ skippygirlsmom. Glad you had such a great weekend with her.

@martaindale I have never heard of that method of training. It will be interesting to follow your progress.

I didn't see a December challenge so I set it up, if it's there, point me in the right direction and I'll delete this one

Thank you for keeping us going for December!!!

Thanks @shanaber . I'm sure you will miss Beaux, but at least you can go for a visit and have playdates.

@rheddmobile That's annoying. I hope you can get through to them tomorrow and get an appointment soon.

@skippygirlsmom Thanks for setting up the December thread!

I didn't have the time or the energy for a run after work today, so did a mile walk on the treadmill and then did my back exercises. The back is still feeling a lot better. I still get tightness, but no stabbing pains for almost a week. Yeah!

I am going to have to get a new computer. After having this one worked on last week, I can't open my running spreadsheet! That's a bummer. The file is there, I just can't seem to access excel. When I get a chance, I'll talk to the repair person I took it too and see if there is anything I need to do to get it back, or if I just need to give in and get a new computer. I was hoping to wait until the first of the year, but I don't think I want to wait when I can't access all of my files.
