Hi : - )
Going for my usual goal of 16-20 AF days, Diary style
Friday December 03 - Drinks, Beef Karahi (from the restaurant that I work at) and salty snacks.
Saturday December 04 - AF - I got out to a trail today, I have been too busy to fit it in, but need to get out there every day, even if just for a bit. It was snowing a bit : - ) Yes, I did feel like having drinks, but didn't - working a split tomorrow was a good enough reason not to.
Sunday December 05 - AF - No plans for drinks before Friday.

I love all the photos! It is putting me in the spirit and I will drag out my decorations and get them up this week. I think we are the only house in our cul de sac that does not have decorations up yet LOL.
@MissMay I will upload a photo of my paintings soon, I have actually two of them going at the same time.
I did not stay AF this weekend but am back at it today through the rest of the week. I need to work on my portion control with food. Actually my alcohol consumption was not heavy but pretty moderate considering where I was at this time last year.
My DD called me this am asking if I would be interested in helping the organization she works for (I use to work there too for a few year, about 5 years ago) to screen applicants for a specific position that both of us have held. In my past I have a strong HR background and a lot of experience scanning resume's and conducting in person and phone interviews. If we can get some details worked out I would work as an independent contractor to help them fill open positions in the company. It might work out LOL the reason I left the company were for several reasons but one of them was I did not see eye to eye with one of the owners......6 -
Completely AF for the first five days of the month. No problem at all over the weekend. I don't typically drink Mon-Thu so that is already in the bag.6

Last night I decided that "not being on call" really wasn't a good reason to drink and I didn't really want it anyway, so I passed. I started reading "Harry Potter y la camara secreta" instead (my Spanish suffers quite a bit after a few glasses of wine )
Please keep sharing pictures of holiday lights and winter wonderlands. I am also in Houston and I miss seasons.7 -
Hi all! Love the pix everyone posted.
We have some outdoor lights and a nativity scene , but with foul weather this week, I think that’s going to be it. Still working on the inside of the house. Still need to do the majority of my shopping!
Had a glass of wine after work tonight, which of course I didn’t need, but it fit in with my calories. I am going away this weekend and am nervous about sticking to two drinks/day. Especially since the only dinner reservations we could get were for after 8:30! That’s so late for me. Which means a cocktail hour somewhere will be involved, in addition to possibly drinking at lunch. Sigh.6 -
AF last night even though DH opened a bottle of red wine to go with the roast we grilled/smoked.
Made BABY First Aid Kits for my DD & DIL. It is one of my favorite things to give new parents. I've made them over the years for my nieces, nephews, and friends with the help of DD. She was excited to see that I'm still carrying on the tradition and made them again for my girls. Loved that I found and included "boo boo bunny" ice comfort pack. It is a fun project ... and saves the new parents the necessity of running out to get something when the baby is in distress or a toddler falls.
Note: Forehead & regular thermometer, nose aspirator, Dermoplast spray are not in the pic. Tons of various shapes, types, colors of bandaids (even butterfly closure bandaids) in the reusable sandwich bag.

You guys all ROCK!
Keeping our heads above water this time of year can be so challenging.
But hey ...what is life without a goal or purpose?
I always tell people everyday I wake up with at least one purpose on my list. Even if it is oh so slight a purpose.
We all need something to look forward to:
•So go bake some holidays cookies you have always wanted to make.
•Send some holiday greeting cards to people you know are alone and need their spirits picked up.
•Put up a few lights to brighten your yard, because they ways bring joy to those passing by, as well as to yourself.
•Visit with a person who is alone during this time of year.
AF lastnight
This photo is of the collection of snowmen and Santa's (above my office cabinets) that I have received from family and friends over the years. All because once I commented on a soft sculptured snowman at a friend's house. ❣⛄

I'm in this boat with you. Last minute trip to SoCal Thursday-my bday weekend. We cancelled plans to go to NYC for my bday, and I was looking forward to a quiet weekend at home, maybe putting up Christmas stuff. DH got roped into a conference last minute and the only room they could get was a seaside villa so I got invited. It's not really my deal. And I'm not altogether sure it's a good idea. I hear the CDC saying things like, "Enjoy Christmas with your family if they're all vaccinated," not "Go to a bankruptcy conference and mingle with hordes of people from all over the country." Well, I got boosted last week so maybe that flood of antibodies will tide me over. Fingers crossed.
Pandemic aside, I'll echo Womona re: the setting and late dinners are not conducive to sticking to 2 drinks. But I know it is possible. I have been on 3 trips with my new SIL, and she has one drink -- might be the most froufrou drink on the menu, she gets whatever she wants -- and that's it. She doesn't seem interested at all after that. Same with wine at home. One glass and moves on. It's a good blueprint.8 -

ahoy_m8 - Are you in San Antonio? I just read an article that it is one of the up and coming recommendations for people to move to for retirement ... hospitals, cost of living and activities.2 -
I absolutely love the photos everyone is posting, it is really helping me get in the Christmas spirit! This weekend I will put up my decorations. Nothing fancy just some window decorations. @MissMay the snowman are great, just Sunday my DD messaged me asking if I still had the one she made when she was a young teen.....Of course I do!

@Lilylady3k We're in Dallas. San Antonio has had amazing growth for sure. Dallas will be in the 80's F for the rest of the week. Warmer than SoCal4 -
@ahoy_m8 - I knew you were somewhere in Texas. Yes this is a warm December!
@dawnbgethealthy - I didn't know that Beyoncé was from Houston. Small world. Just finished listening to audio book "Kicking & Dreaming: A Story of Heart, Soul, and Rock and Roll" memoir told by Ann and Nancy Wilson (Heart). Lots of stories about their time in Canada. Being in a band in your youth ... I think you might really enjoy the book. It was fun to discover the background story on many of the songs they wrote and the various bands they were in.
For some of you ... the book was also interesting going into the drug and alcohol abuse, recovery, and weight perception.
So I've been racking up a few AF days this week. It helped that Monday and Tuesday I was around my pregnant DIL so I felt supportive of her and stayed away from the wine that DH drank on Monday night for dinner and that my sister drank on Tuesday night when we were at dinner and a play (TUTS Little Mermaid).
Tonight DH joined me in an alcohol free Steak Night. I know ... punch me! Couldn't believe that we were having steak without a nice bottle of red wine either! Surprises around every corner.
4 AF and 4 A this month so far.3 -
Happy Birthday @ahoy_m8 ! SoCal could be fun this time of year. Where are you going? My favorite area is really Los Olivos/Solvang/Santa Barbara area. I'll bet Santa Barbara and Solvang are pretty now with all the gorgeous architecture decorated for Xmas. Camarillo Outlets is pretty good for holiday shopping! And the best mexican food I've had in my life is in that area. Enjoy!
December to-date: 6 out of 8 days: AF
Going to force myself outside for a run. I don't want to, it's cold and I feel so comfy in my chair but I will just go do it.

@Lilylady3k
Yes, we claimed Heart as our own in Canada
I think that they are from Seattle.
That book sounds great.
Honestly, I used to read so much, but the last years I have only found time for it while away on vacation.
I should reroute my life to try to make some time for books, I have so many that haven't been cracked yet, and close to 300 on my Kindle.3 -

Wednesday December 08 - 2 1/2 drinks, not my planned drinks hours, but must say that it was lovely when I got back from a busy day. The rink opened for Public Ice Skating in Kimberley, so I grabbed an hour while I was up there doing a job for Foster Grant. Busted out all of my stress and felt so fantastic going back to complete my job, energized and sharp. Really, I can't think of anything that makes me happier than skating : - )
