I think that they are from Seattle.
That book sounds great.
Honestly, I used to read so much, but the last years I have only found time for it while away on vacation.
I should reroute my life to try to make some time for books, I have so many that haven't been cracked yet, and close to 300 on my Kindle.
I enjoy the audio books when I'm busy ... I can garden, fold laundry and walk while catching up on a book. This particular book I recommend listening to since it has the sisters narrating. I got the audio version free through the local library.
Wow ... you have a ton of books on your Kindle!3 -

Pregnant DIL was in a car accident yesterday. The driver fell asleep behind the wheel at 3pm!! Didn’t even tap the brakes and ran into the back of her. He and his daughter were taken away in ambulance … he was not conscience. DIL and the baby are okay. She was wearing a Pregnancy Bump Strap so no trauma across the tummy from the seat belt! Met her doctor at the hospital for observation and to throughly check her & baby out. Due date is still Dec 29th.

I'm glad she is ok, @Lilylady3k what a scare it must've been. And good for your husband on an AF streak! I wish mine would re-start that...
Ok, back to AF here and working on my "Santa" job. Holidays coming up fast!4 -
@Lilylady3k
How scary about the car accident! Yikes, really glad that she is okay!4 -
Hi : - )
Going for my usual goal of 16-20 AF days, Diary style
Wednesday December 08 - 2 1/2 drinks, not my planned drinks hours, but must say that it was lovely when I got back from a busy day. The rink opened for Public Ice Skating in Kimberley, so I grabbed an hour while I was up there doing a job for Foster Grant. Busted out all of my stress and felt so fantastic going back to complete my job, energized and sharp. Really, I can't think of anything that makes me happier than skating : - )
Thursday December 09 - AF - Friday is still my designated drinks hours.
Rolling Total: 7AF days out of 9 days.3 -
I notice that after drinks hours that the next day my weight is always down. Dehydration? Within 2 days it shows back up again.
All of the more reason to have more AF days.6 -
@Lilylady3k
That is great news that your DH is doing some AF days3 -
Very scary about the car accident! I am glad to hear she is okay. That's fantastic that your DH is joining you. I think my AF days would be fewer and farther between if my boyfriend drank, too!
I've stayed the course and now have 8 AF days and 1 A. I keep thinking I want a drink and then I ask myself "do you really?" Somehow the answer continues to be "no."
My sleep is still weird. I wake up a few times at night and then too early in the morning. It's getting better, though.
My weight still hasn't budged and I am completely dumbfounded. I've been comparing my numbers to August and September (when I was losing) and my net calories are way below what they were. My steps and calories burned appear roughly the same. I'm lost!5 -
Oh wow @Lilylady3k I'm glad your DIL is OK.
Still AF through the first 9 days and intending to continue. It's pretty easy with my partner away until later this week. I'm retired but he still works so usually on Friday he is looking forward to Happy Hour when he gets home from work.4 -

I am so glad to hear your DIL will be ok.
My youngest daughter is pregnant and due at the end of February. I just called her and told her I ordered her one. I had never heard of them before.
Thank you
Last night I had one drink, but I also had a beer with lunch out yesterday. But I am fine with the decisions I made to have both of them over the course of the day.
I am making a point to workout, especially on a day I might feel like I want an adult beverage.

@lmlmrn - I ordered one for my daughter as well ... she is due in July! She kept putting off getting it but after her SIL was in the accident she said she too wanted the Pregnancy Bump Strap.
My DIL's doctor is buying a VW Atlas for her teenage son after seeing how my DIL and it survived the wretch. The other car Subaru Outback was crushed with both people going to the hospital in an ambulance.3 -
AF again this evening. 6 out of 10 AF for me this month. Already half way to my goal!
Goal: Limit 1-2 glasses per day; 12-16 AF days per month. Aim to drink no more than 2 nights in a row.
DH is skipping work parties last night and tonight because he wants to not put himself in a difficult situation as he is just now starting to try to cut back after Monday night. 4 AF days for him this month! We are also skipping a heavy drinking party again Saturday night. I know that skipping is not sustainable but it is a good way for him to not be tempted as he is starting out.
Next week I have parties Sun, Mon, Tues and Wed night all with wine. But I'm pretty sure I can skip the wine ... or at least limit myself to 1 glass since I've been doing that for a while at social events.
DH has a social event Tues night that he will go to but said they are not heavy drinkers so he will feel comfortable.

I hope that all are safe from those terrible Tornadoes in the USA4

DH & I were AF again last night! He is on a roll which really helps me since there is no wine in the house.
December accountability: 7/11 days AF
Alcohol: 4 days (10 drinks)
Goal: Limit 1-2 glasses per day; 12-16 AF days per month. Aim to drink no more than 2 nights in a row.
Now to start my social week of challenges that include offerings of wine and/or cocktails each evening plus a ton of yummy things that don't help me on the scale front:
12/12 -🎄🍪 Annual Cookie party! A friend invites 75 ladies to taste a dozen different cookies (small samples) that she makes (different ones each year) ... and we rate them. Fun afternoon. Planning to drink coffee ☕️
12/13 - 📚 Book club, dinner, wrapped book exchange at ... wait for it ... Off the Vine Bistro Wine Bar that is normally closed on Monday nights but the owner is a friend and opening her restaurant for us. Plan: 1 glass of wine 🍷
12/14 - 🍓Houston Zeta Christmas Party w/ wine and appetizers. Plan: drink water 💧
12/15 - 📚Zeta Book Club, wine, appetizers, wrapped book exchange, and final voting/selection of our 2022 book list. Plan: 1 glass of wine 🍷 or maybe I'll drink tea since I'm in charge of the meeting and voting!
12/16 - 🍓 Fort Bend Zeta Christmas Party w/ yet again wine and appetizers. Plan: drink water 💧
12/17 - 🎣? DH & I might be headed to the camp for the weekend before Christmas. TBD. Depends on if the boat is ready since we put it in the shop when we left last time for power steering repairs. Plan: not drinking at camp this time around. 💧
Okay so my plans are in place. Now to see if I can execute against those plans.5 -
Month-to-date 8 AF, 3 non-AF days. December is a tough month. I'd thought I would've done better. I am feeling happy and sleeping great though.
I remind myself that every day is a gift. I have to make today count and make it the best.5 -

I didn't drink this weekend, Once again, I thought about it, but talked myself out of it each time. 10 days AF so far (that will all change when I go to my sister's house next week). I've been invited to two parties this week, but work will interfere with both, so that takes care of that temptation. The last two nights I crashed hard and slept the longest I've slept in months, possibly years. Still no weight loss. Doesn't alcohol have calories? I was sure alcohol had calories....5
-
I did have a drink last night, it was late in the evening and, well, I just wanted one and stuck with just one.
Finally some weight is starting to creep off .2lbs at a time LOL some is better than none or the opposite!
Today I got up some of my Christmas decorations. I went looking for all my ornaments and I have miss placed them. I will go on the hunt tomorrow after DH has left for work. This is going to take some major closet rearranging!5 -
I was AF for the first 10 days of the month yesterday I ended up having some wine. Today I'm back to AF.4
-
DH called me on my way home ... please pick up a bottle of white wine to go with the chicken he was smoking. Of course! No problem.
2 glasses of wine this evening.
December accountability: 7/31 days AF
Alcohol: 5 days (12 drinks)
Goal: Limit 1-2 glasses per day; 12-16 AF days per month. Aim to drink no more than 2 nights in a row.

Happy Monday.
I was away for an impromptu get a way with friends, 4 states away. It was much needed. Got in TONS of walking, eating good foods and YES some drinking.
Not feeling guilty one bit for having 3 consecutive days(no consecutive is always my goal)with alcohol, because I was in control of the amounts I drank and could drive safely, walk and converse normally.
On the last day away I chose not to drink and no one questioned that. Since being back home I have also kept dry.
I did however over eat, by ordering large portions and I didn't drink as much water as I should have.
4 days A
8 days AF
Glad to be 🏡 home.
@dawnbgethealthy here is a photo for you I took. It was beautiful.

Dec to-date: 9 AF, 3 A
Hiked yesterday which made me feel warm and relaxed inside so I felt no stress and had no thoughts of buying wine. AF yesterday.
Now, if I was at a busy mall full of holiday shoppers, many possibly carrying Covid, my Sunday evening could've resulted in a beeline for the wine aisle. I'm patting myself on the back for planning my day carefully!
5 -
Wow @MissMay That is an amazing photo!
Still keeping to one or no drinks in the evening, however yesterday was a pizza and beer type of day. We brought a pizza home, then watched a movie while we drank a beer. It was nice.
Today I am going to experiment and try to make sugar free gummy bears. Anyone ever try this? Tips? Tricks?5 -
Just catching up, everybody, and wow, I'm so sorry about the car wreck @Lilylady3k. Really scary. And really stressful for the mom-to-be, not just the fear but the hassle of dealing with a car accident aftermath-- dealing with their insurance, having to get the car fixed, or worse, having to get another car... any way you slice it, it is one huge hassle a mom-to-be does not need. Hopefully she is getting all the help she needs.
I have never heard of making your own gummy bears, so I'm interested to learn about this.
"Less alcohol" is not going well. The trip was not exactly as I had expected. I thought it would be a relaxing sort of thing (at least for me) but it was more of a heavy work thing. The villa was essentially a hospitality suite with guests who stayed until 2AM drinking Thurs & Friday. And then we had to clean up. So, so much drinking. The weekend was mellow and fun, though. Got to have dinner with a HS classmate I don't get to see often, and our husbands have never met, so that was fun. I was AF 2 days last week, the 2 days before we left town. I kind of need to regroup.5 -
12/13 - 📚AF this evening at dinner with book club. One of my friends bought wine bottles for the table to share ... but I stuck with water. Again they were surprised. But I'm good. DH was home and AF as well.
December accountability: 8/13 days AF
Alcohol: 5 days (12 drinks)
Goal: Limit 1-2 glasses per day; 12-16 AF days per month. Aim to drink no more than 2 nights in a row.

OMG!! Paradise for my eyes and imagination. Which state is this in? This might have to go on my bucket list. Nobody skating...they do skate on it right? All the more beautiful of a photo without skaters, I love an empty rink : - )
Thank you!!!3
