@Tramboman I disagree. Your spirit animal is more akin to a ... 🤔 an... 🤔 a Maned Wolf.
That maned wolf needs a lot more gray hair before it could be my spirit animal.4 -
400 miles for January 2022
Looks like Crazy Laps are in my future, with storms and extreme low temps (for me).
HAPPY NEW YEAR! Prayers for safety, peace and balance
My Spirit Animal: I do not have the pictures on this computer. Someday I will have my graphics loaded in.6 -
I haven't decided on a goal for January or 2022 yet. Still trying to decide what my back is going to allow me to do. I'll try to work on my goals tomorrow.
Here's one of my favorite pictures of Tippy. It was taken back in Feb of 2015. Snow is still her favorite.7 -
Hi everyone 👋. Happy new year from London. Hope everyone is well. I’ve been gone a long time; 2021 kicked me in multiple ways and I ended the year barely recognising myself. I kept running as much as I could but not enough, which was frustrating.
But after 5 years on MyFitnessPal and a few setbacks in that time, I kind of hope I can find myself again. So if you’ll have me back again I would love to join you.
I’ve told myself even a mile a day will be better than nothing. So my target is 30 miles for January. Keep well everyone, and best wishes for a great 2022.12 -
Happy New Year! Welcome new people and those of you who are coming back to the group!
I had big plans to go for a long run, something like 22k for 2022... but woke up with a worsened cold and ended up doing 2.2km instead.
Goal for the month is to get my mileage back up to about 100 miles/month. I don't do New Year's resolutions. My closest race is in February, 13k (1 loop, up a mountain and back).9 -
Started the month (and year) with a run/walk with the 10 year old. We did about 3.5km. Have to start somewhere! X10
-
Of course you are welcome back @Faebert ! Great start to the new year!
@polskagirl01 Hope you feel better soon!2 -
@Faebert nice to see I'm not the only one coming back out of 'hiding' :-)
Happy new year everyone! Here's to a year with more of the good stuff and less of the crap.
I took myself off for a run up through the fog to the village on the mountain this morning. Given there were waaaay too many crisps (my nemesis) and nowhere near enough sleep last night I'm happy that I got up there, even though I had to stop and catch my breath more often than I would have liked. Came back down the main road instead of the usual backroad I use, which was interesting to say the least. Won't be doing that again on a normal day!

Your argument is weak. Snails have no grey hair.☺️ ❤️5 -
"Keepin' it sleasy since 1952"
1-1 7k sleasy
January Total: 7k
January Goal: 140k
Cloudy, foggy, and near 50 degrees F this morning, so I got to run in shorts and a short sleeved tech shirt. Theme song in my head today was "The Stroll," so my sleasy time was actually better than my perceived effort.
Congratulations, Run the World team!!! I knew you could do it!!

Jan 1 - 4.02 avg pace 9:10 2 splits under 9 and 2 under 10...
welcome back Eleanor and Faebert. I certainly recognize your names!
Perceived effort is very interesting to me - esp wearing a watch which I can look at hr and pace during my runs. Usually my first qtr is about 10. Yesterday altho my perceived effort was about normal my first qtr was almost 11. Now some of that is the GPS is a little crazy when its foggy and drizzly but some of that is me thinking I am working hard when I am not. I have to say if I were to guess at my runs and splits and pace and HR based on perceived effort on my part I would be way the heck off. It's one of the reasons I think the tech we have now is so much more helpful for training than when I first started in the 70's holding a stop watch... LOL6 -
Happy New Year! I started the year with a 4.05 mile progression training run. I am supposed to have a 2 hour long run tomorrow, but it looks like storms ALL DAY. I am hoping there will be a break somewhere for me to get out.
Welcome back @faebert and @eleanorhawkins.5 -

Happy New Year!
I haven't run since last January and April (to be specific). There's a guy on my street who runs often. I saw him on the return from my walk, and envied him for getting started months earlier when it was warm... Now the lungs burn for starting up again, hahaha.
Maybe I'll buy those running shoes and warm running socks THIS year! Happy running!7 -
I'm still here, just lurking still, and into the foreseeable future. I'm getting a look at my foot and so-far suspected plantar fasciitis Tuesday by my doctor's office. So for now still just trying to heal something that best I can tell I have been unable to completely heal even with no runs, then no walks, to
under 5k steps/day, and even further with treatments like stretches during the day and a Strasburg sock at night with the thinking that I was damaging it too much after it contracted. In fact, it's like it might be getting worse but I wasn't figuring that out because I was simultaneously doing more and more to deal with it, making it just seem mostly the same over time until now doing so little there is not much more to do. I'm curious to see where this goes now.
We got a new kitten (Marley) in October. This pic is a two-fer since it shows one of my Injinji toe socks as she peeks out from inside my pants leg...
And a crow
Wishing all of you the best of luck this month and throughout 2022!5 -
Oh, this is my spirit animal. My grandson Zoey. She is a brindle Pit mix. Sweetest dog I have ever known!

Happy New Year's all! I am looking forward to many, many great runs in 2022!!
I am loving all the pictures of spirit animals and pets! @Scott6255 - that brindle baby is beautiful! Love her markings! How old is she?SummerSkier wrote: »Jan 1 - 4.02 avg pace 9:10 2 splits under 9 and 2 under 10...

@SummerSkier - I just read this (from Six Minute Mile) on why we should try to run by perceived effort... I especially like the part in bold.
Running by feel is one of the most important skills you can develop as a runner. While fitness trackers and watches are useful tools, they aren’t always available. They can also discourage you from connecting with your body and figuring out intuitively if you need to go faster or slower. So, this week, leave the gadgets behind for a run and find your pace naturally. If you’re not sure how to get started, watch the short video below to see an exercise that will develop your ability to run by feel: “This 5 Minute Test Will Transform Your Running Forever.”

oh @WhatMeRunning hang in there. Love Marley! absolutely adorable. Thanks for the sock! 😏
I have 3 dogs and 3 cats plus one cat that is outside as she refuses to share the house. She runs, they (cats) chase; its a one-sided game.
I love all the animals! Good vibes, starting the month, year out with unconditional acceptance and love.
Last I figured my spirit animal was an elephant.
