Ritagood news regarding son. Glad he has n enlightened employer.
Allie-I might be concerned if bed issue was on purpose but no shame in accident.
Betsy-take things at your own pace. There is no right or wrong way to handle some of this stuff. My oldest son gave me best advice. I was standing in kitchen and told him and dear dil that I dint know what I would do. He said “mom, whatever you want.” I looked across kitchen at coffee maker and said well, when’s it is time to replace that I can get a keurig that dad always said was wasteful. Son and dil packed me in car, went to store and bought one that night (and we never bought new until something stopped working). A dumb thing, but liberating and started showing me I could move on.
Karen-Olivia is rocking that wig!
Lisa-You certainly seem to get run around its some medical stuff.
Busy at work this week. Having in person all staff meetings for first time since pandemic. Instead of two large groups of 100+ meeting with 8 smaller groups. Very tiring but good to have something close to normal. 2 groups on weds and 2 Thursday then I collapse.
Take care all,

Worked and then I actually got to the gym. Yea me!!! No formal exercise tomorrow.
Tomorrow I’m supposed to be at the Green Room at 12:30 and then I will have my oil changed. While they’re changing the oil, I’ll run next door to Aldi.
Rebecca – thank goodness for waterproof keyboards! You always make me drool. Oh, and I’m planning to have cabbage soup with protein powder in it for breakfast tomorrow. So don’t feel bad, I have interesting breakfasts, too. Cabbage soup, protein powder, and kale.
Went to the lady and got more of my bangs cut (thicker). We shall see how it goes. I don’t have time in the a.m. to blowdry them, but I do in the evening. So if I can blow them in the evening, I’ll be OK. After exercise, went and bought stamps (I’ll write out Jess’ graduation invitations since she really doesn’t have the time) then stopped at the Salvation Army and got a sweater. I just like the color. Totally forgot that I already have a yellow sweater. Well, I’ll just redonate the one I like least. Update: they should come here Monday
Tracey – what did the doctor have to say?
Oh, sold some jewelry I don’t wear. Honestly, some I didn’t even know if it was real or costume. But I got $840 for it.
Rita – happy to read about your son. I hear ya about the scale not moving. It truly is frustrating.
Heather – I can’t get over how big Bea has gotten. I remember when she was born and you made that cake
Making a lasagna for Vince to have later in the week and then to freeze
This morning I fell. Completely forgot that there was a second step from the house into the garage and I was getting ready to go to work. My shoulder is still a bit sore, but there isn’t any bruise. I’m sure it’ll get better in a bit. I hate how now it takes that much longer to heal.
The lasagna should be out of the oven in about 7 minutes, then I have to let it cool before cutting it up to be ready to free. In the meantime I think I’ll work some on the puzzle.

Awe Michele in NC, I think you braver than me with the cabbage, kale and protein powder! I take collagen powder because I think it helps my hair, nails and skin. I will let you know in a couple months if it actually works! I put the scoop with milk and coffee and shake it in a shaker bottle, like I'm creating a martini!

Ginny thanks for the Keurig story, bravo to Son for “…whatever you want.”
Michele “…waterproof keyboards…” ROTLMAO
Allie your accident happened to me 40 years ago in a hotel room. A bad tuna salad in a hotel dining room with disastrous effects. No housekeeping tip was enough but gave what I could. Stuff happens.

Betsy: I add my condolences to all the others. Vent anytime. Cry anytime. Hurt, laugh, isolate or be with people who support you. Be gentle with yourself for awhile. The Marks of this world will just have to deal with their issues without you. Peace. 🧡☮
Debbie: Feeling my heart ache reading about Umaku. My condolences to you, too.
Machka:: Hope the migraine has passed and doesn't ever come back.
Will be trading in the cold, rainy weather here for the warmer climate in San Diego. I fly out tomorrow to visit with my sister and her family. A friend from high school is also visiting relatives in the area, so we are meeting up for dinner tomorrow night. I haven't seen A (except on one Zoom this past December) since our graduation 48 years ago! Can hardly wait.
I am 66 y.o., and been heavy my entire life. I once tipped scales north of 200 lbs, but have been in the low 150's for over 25 years now. I'd love to drop 10 more, but no matter if I do or don't, I am a better, healthier, happier person thanks to all the positive support and fellowship I have experienced on this thread. Stay well, friends. We can do this.

Karen - Every time I see a pic of Olivia, I can't get out of my mind the baby pic. How far she's come! They are both gorgeous children. When will you next see them?
I slept well last night. Not a thought in my head.
Grey and damp out there. The weather forecast for tomorrow includes snow. The cold front is creeping its way down the country from the north. Blame Penny!

I’m glad you will have your friend with you when/if Mark calls. You owe him nothing!!! You are not there to take the brunt of this man’s grief and guilt. It’s not about him!!!1 -

Hello, my chickens! Hope you're all having a tremendous day. For those who are new, Barbiecat will post the link for April tomorrow. We start clean each month, a blank slate. You'll probably get the reminders about this later today or tomorrow, but a little repetition never killed anyone.
Writer's note: The prior sentence is a generalization, and I'm trying to stop using those, because all generalizations are false, including this one. Twisting myself into a verbal knot again.
My days right now consist of writing until I have to run to the loo, and since I do that on average 16 times a day, and I take an average of 8 minutes to accomplish, that means more than two hours of my day is spent in the loo. Grf.
And, I was up at 3 am, but that was at least partially because I was in bed by 7 pm. I was just so tired yesterday! Feeling a bit better so far today. The rain was coming down in sheets 20 minutes ago, but has calmed a bit. One lightning bolt struck so close I could feel the thunder shaking the house. More rain on its way until about 10 am, so I'll probably just stay in.
I'm on the last gasp of dealing with my office/craft/dining room, so that will hopefully be finished today. Egg is engrossed in knocking things off of every flat surface, so I pick things up a lot. There are worse things to do.
Corey and I walked around the main pasture last night. We started heading toward the house to get dinner going, and he stopped me mid-stride - a snake was right in front of us. Wasn't moving, just watching us. Luckily, it was a black snake, a young one, about four feet long. While I always get a pop of adrenaline when I see one, the vast majority of the snakes I've seen have been the baby ones Egg brings in for me to catch. Three of those on Monday. This black snake was too big for Egg to handle, so she walked right by it.

Ginny Thanks, loved the 'whatever you want". Your son and dil were so smart... it's the best message.
Rori, Terri and all Mark called early evening just before I turned the phone off for the night. I kept the call short. He wanted to discuss shortcomings of his dad and I wouldn't engage and he wanted to talk about what I planned to do and again I told him I haven't any idea about the future as right now I was lost missing his father.. He tried to tell me that his dad was lucky to have me and I said yes we were good for each other and I miss him terribly...at which time I broke down and began weeping and he said he hadn't cried and didn't think he would. He said goodbye and hung up. I just let him talk and it was a very short call. I thought I wouldn't sleep but I slept off and on last night and feel a bit less washed out today.
Allie, Don't be embarrassed... Let me tell you..it's your body giving you a message. I've only had loss of bodily functions when I've been most devastated...when my son died and last Friday when Jack died. Maybe it's stress or something you could ask your doctor about. You've been stepping up and taking care of Carmen and Miles and carrying a burden.Maybe it's time to take a little more time for you.
Thanks you everyone,
Betsy in NW WA5 -
Quick hop on while kids are busy playing.
Debbie- Hugs to you on the loss of your furbaby! Umaku was beautiful!
Betsy- I am glad that Mark got in touch with you, for now that is something that you don't need to have in the back of your mind. We all have regrets in life; I am sure his lack of contact with his father will be a thorn for him, for a long time.
Allie- Are you trying to bottle feed Miles, while Tracy is home? I have never had a baby starve when switching from breastfeeding (with mama) to bottle feeding (with me). That said; don't even try to bottle feed a baby while mama is in the room. At least not at the beginning. Babies can actually smell their mamas. Babies can hear her voice, recognize her movements, her routine, etc. If someone else is trying to bottle feed them and they know mama is around, they will not have it. At least, not until they get used to the bottle. Start the bottle feeding when Tracy starts work and is not home. When babies get hungry enough, they will eat from a bottle. I would say that after a couple of days of this, Miles will understand that if he wants food, sometimes he is going to have to drink from a bottle. He will also realize that the person holding the bottle loves him and he can trust them to keep him alive. lol
Karen VA- Those pics of Olivia and Phoenix! So adorable!
time to scoot. It is a rainy day and the bickering has begun. ttfn xoxoxo KJ (Kelly)4 -

Good morning! How is everyone? I'm new here and live in Arizona. 54 degrees here now, supposed to get to 75. About me, I'm 63, divorced and live with my 4 sweet kitties. I have one daughter who lives in Boston. I'm not new to trying to lose weight, but hoping tis is the last time I "Start over". Looking forward to making new friends! My first name is Kama.7

Rebecca, don't know if you've caught it along the way, but I'm a Marine MoM. She's a vet now, but once a Marine, always a Marine. Once a MoM, always a MoM. She did her contract and was out. I'm still in our support group too. We help the newbies navigate their way through Boot and AFT/ITB, MOS and into the fleet. What a roller coaster, as you well know.
Oh Ginny, that's soooooo cool! Congrats on your Keurig!
Well done Michele! I've always wanted to sell some of my stuff online and never gotten around tuit! (lol, anyone remember those? that makes me old)
Betsy, GOOD FOR YOU!!! I have to say it, please don't take this wrong... I am so proud of you.
Carla, in MN1 -
Betsy,
It must be somewhat of a relief that you got the initial phone call with Mark accomplished with relatively little fallout. You handled it really well! Not easy to do with fatigue and emotions and anticipation, but you did it!
Heather and all,
Yes, Olivia has come a long way from that pathetic newborn barely clinging to life you first "met" five years ago, hasn't she? I don't think any of us thought she would live, much less thrive! Amazing wild child.
No travel plans, but we do talk with them on FaceTime almost every day. It would be really challenging for my spouse to travel, and our daughter simply doesn't want to fly here with the kids, which we have accepted.
They will spend the summer in France with their other grandparents, and it will be wonderful, and we will enjoy it vicariously. It may sound sad, but we are actually OK with it the way it is; absolutely no use fretting over it.
Kama,
We used to have 4 kitties, but they are all gone now. Doughboy, Rascal, Felix, and Oscar. They lived to be 17-21 years old. We have 2 little girl Yorkies now. Looking forward to kitty pictures.
Rori,
Always good to hear from you! Have a great time with your sister and your friend.

Tomorrow we are visiting the retirement community which is on our horizon for 2024. An apartment under construction that we have put a deposit on. This is one of those communities that will take care of you at all stages from independent living to the deathbed.

I did it again! Yay! 6 mins marching, 8 mins elliptical, and 78 mins of yoga this time. I scared myself, thought I strained my left thumb. But it only hurt for a minute. It's a sign to stay at this level for awhile longer.
Thursday is supposed to be violent thunderstorms, so I might cancel horseback riding.
Hugs for you all,

Carla, thank you for your support, and your daughters service.💖⚓👍🙏💖
Its not an easy life, but the military produces some fine adults.💖
My middle son has started his college journey, now that his wife has gotten her nursing assistant degree. Its nice to know the Navy's paying for it, like a small thank you for their service. I am all for young adults doing their time in the military, learning a trade, acquiring good work ethics, then going to school on the military's dime. It is a relief to know they both won't be paying a student loans and the stress of paying those back.

Betsy--Glad the call with Mark was short and you handled it well. He needs to deal with his short comings and not try and push his feelings on you or anyone else. He is trying to make himself feel better. Not your problem.
Blessings, Vicki GRAND ISLAND, NE1 -
Betsy-I am so sorry for your loss. Big hugs.
Beth-Hugs.
Debbie-So sorry about your kitty. It’s so hard to let them go.
Heather-I love your DH’s relationship with the grands. It’s so lovely to “watch.”
You all reminded me to feed my hummingbirds and orioles, though the orioles still haven’t made an appearance at the other feeders. I don’t know, but I think they spend the first couple of weeks in residence just nesting. After that, they either figure out where the feeders are (they should know year to year), or they just don’t leave the nest for a while. In the meantime, the hummingbirds love them.
Hi Julie.
One of my sisters contacted me about taking all sisters and our mom to see Elton John. We just tried to get tix in California and it’s just insane how the scalpers buy them all up. We see them on the secondary market the same afternoon. So, we bought them in another city, where the competition to buy tix isn’t so strong and the prices are much lower. She thought everyone needed to have something to look forward to (particularly my sis who had the stroke). I hope they all will go.
I’m not sure I want to remember EJ in his current form. I saw him twice and he’s excellent, but when I listened to his audiobook, his voice sounded really rough.
Another person I know passed away today. In his early 50s, of massive heart attack, which he ignored and led to organ failure. Don't ignore your body's warning signs. It's trying to tell you something.
I know there is a lot going on with all of you. I just can’t remember it all. Just know I’m thinking about you as I read your posts and stories.
