The reason most people fail instead of succeed is that they trade what they want the MOST for what they want at the MOMENT.
My word for 2022 is "continue"---I have acquired many good habits and I want to continue doing them.

In case you didn’t c my latest post, here it is again:
Well today was a strange day. My plan was to walk enough so i could have pain so i could then go to the doc earlier than my scheduled appointment. After 1 mile of walking w/purpose no pain, i even jogged for a bit…nothing. Come to find out i couldn’t go earlier than Wednesday the way i was told, so we went out to go walking again and if i felt pain i was going to go to the ER at the right hospital (Fresno community vs clovis community). We ended up going 5 more miles, … nothing, no pain to speak of…..really weird. Don’t get me wrong, I’m happy that i can walk normally, not hunched over. Oh well.. got home and kirby is wanting to now get a Lexus or Mercedes’. He is in the mindset of if I have something, he wants me to ride in luxury. I don’t need a fancy car, I’m happy w/what we have. Anyway, i was upstairs taking a lil nap (which i never do) and i got.a call about my appointment on Wednesday, the ER made me an appointment for the wrong place. So i have an appointment for the right doc on wed. They answered my question as to why they didn’t just take the mass out if i was in so much pain. They said cuz if it was cancerous and they did try to take it out, it could spread to other parts of my body and that would be bad. Our thinking was as to why i wasn’t hurting was because i had another poop this morning, SCORE! And maybe the mass moved from where it was sitting, like no longer on a nerve which was making me hurt so much. Oh well, we will c on Wednesday. Hopefully no pain till then.13 -
Thank you Barbie!0

Pip — I’m so glad you do not have pain. I am keeping you in my prayers. I hope your doctor turns out to be excellent. 🌹4

Happy Birthday to all the ladies who enjoyed one in February. I am still trying to catch up from January posts!
Happy Anniversaries as well!
Betsy- It is amazing how clear the eyes are after the cataract surgeries. I will say that it has been a little harder to get use to both being done for me since one was far sighted and one was near sighted. Time for healing and the brain to relearn to quickly refocus.
Debbie- Thank you for your response about the dull pain after the drops stop. It is much better now.
Healing thoughts and prayers for all that need it whether for themselves or family and friends.
Ginny- You would have been welcomed at our mower shop any time!
Barbie- Thank you for the fresh start! March for us Northern Hemisphere folks means time to start getting outside.
I had more typed and hit wrong key. It is bedtime for me.
Love you all !

Debbie – I’ve found that Saltine crackers or applesauce is easily digestible so don’t upset my stomach at night
pip – so glad you didn’t have pain. But there’s still that mass. Let us know what they say about it
Kylia - to me, march when we get back means starting to open the pool. I want to be ready when Mother nature is ready!
michele who loves being in FL7 -
Thanks for the new thread Barbie.
Katla - there are 3 sizes of poodles recognized in the US. Toy poodles are under 9 inches at the shoulder, miniatures are 9-15 inches and standards are anything over 15 inches. I have had 2 standards that were about 26 inches tall and in the 40 to 50 pound range. I had one that was bred as a miniature but was 15 1/2 inches tall so was technically standard. I understand they are recognizing a fourth size in Europe now which is the Moyen. It is supposed to be 15 to 20 inches tall and about 15-35 pounds. Hope the right puppy finds you.
Pip - glad the pain has let up. Hope things go well on Wednesday.
Michelle - I am glad you are enjoying FL.
Everyone take care, Sue in WA5 -
Sue — We’re really learning about various poodles. We saw a sweet girl at the breeder’s place and we hope to have one of her puppies. DH has been studying and also has spoken about the Moyen. He thinks the sweet girl may be or is a Moyen. That is what we hope to find. Wish us luck. ❤️. We’re hoping for 15-20” and up to 35 pounds. We’re keeping our fingers crossed for just the right puppy. It will have to grow up a bit to reach 15 to 20” and 35 pounds. Our sweet Keeshond, Schooner, was 35 pounds. He passed away last fall from cancer. He was a very sweet boy. We think/hope a poodle puppy will be healthy.2

Thank you Barbie!
Heather, the cape and dress for the cruise are smashing! (did I use that right? )
Pip, happy to hear that you're not in so much pain for now, sincerely hope that everything turns out right!
Kylia, so good to hear from you! Congrats on having your cataracts removed!
Tracey, how are things with you? Absolutely LOVE the crooked house!
Rita, {{{HUGS}}} sure hope you can find your son.
Lisa, so nice to see you more often, I really missed your chatty posts and your descriptive phrases! (still picturing the angry critter doing your DH's hair, lol)
Allie, I'm confused, does school not go til a certain time? Why would you be having to wait til different times for Carmine to get out of school? I know my grandson is only 5, but I know that he finishes school by about 2:20, and that time doesn't change.
So very tired today! I had done a full days worth of stuff by 11 am and I wasn't done yet! But I did have a good day, but tomorrow will be busy, (granddaughter all day and pick up grandson after school). Hoping for nicer weather than the last few Tuesdays, would really like to take them to the playground. Two weeks ago it was raining and last week there was a wind coming right off the polar ice cap and there was no way that I was standing around outside! Darn near froze just waiting for him to come out of the school and I was there for less than 5 minutes! Bitter, bitter wind! Then was talking to a lady who had been to her granddaughter's outside wedding that Tues night, she had worn two coats!
Anyway, time for me to pack it in, need to get some rest so that I can handle the little ones tomorrow!
Hugs for those needing them, congrats to those celebrating and welcome to the newbies!
Evelyn, Vancouver Island7 -
Evelyn- they stayed after school for extra help .. the email mom got was till 3:15 and then Carmine said 3:40 as i was sutting there waiting.. i had been there since 3...then they said nwvee mind I'll walk.. which is maddening and 2 seconds later never mind .. honestly enough to drive the angels crazy..
Brother feeling better.. though still having headaches and has to wear sunglasses
. He has a follow up appointment later in the week..only got 4 and 1/2 hrs sleep ..I have been sleeping pretty well but was having some bladder and flank pain so got up and took tylenol.. here is hoping maybe i can go back to sleep for a couple of hours.5 -

Today started with a massive black spider descending from the fan over the shower and dropping down beside me. 🕷
It's been about 95% humidity for the past couple days and warm. My hair has doubled in size and I've been consistently hot and sweaty. Despite the fact that I'm fully menopausal, I had one hot flash after another the night before last. Blech. Last night I remembered to use antiperspirant just before bed. That helps. We've got the air conditioner on tonight to try to reduce the humidity level.
Had a lovely lunch with the ladies I used to work with. It was really nice to get together again.
When I got back, the internet had gone down ... Tasmania wide. Given that I work in a branch of health, that wasn't a good thing!
Always "Dial before you Dig!"
Tasmanian internet and phone services down in 'major' outage across much of the state
https://www.abc.net.au/news/2022-03-01/widespread-telecommunications-and-internet-outage-in-tasmania/100871822
So it's been an interesting first day of March.

2022 GoalsMy 2022 goals are a continuation of my 2021 goals.
Upcoming Appointments
Education/Career
Medical
House
Office
Computer
Garden
Spiritual
Fitness/Sports
Cycling
Audax Tasmania
Recreation
House > Office > Computer become more specific as they go along. I have a number of thing which need to be done in the house (sleeping room, dining room, etc.) but most importantly the home office needs a whole lot of work. And along with that I need to organise the drives on my computer into a better filing system.
The goal is to have an organised and decluttered house.
Progress: Crawling forward.
Fitness/Sports > Cycling > Audax Tasmania also become more specific as they go along. There are a number of fitness/sport things I'd like to try, with a focus on cycling, and a large part of my cycling endeavours includes my volunteer work with Audax Tasmania ... and maybe even riding some events again myself!
The goal it to improve my fitness level.
Progress: Not bad. I've been active but the paperwork side of my sport is sliding a bit.
Garden is a very small category because that's my husband's domain but I'd like to finish weeding the place and get some flowers and other plants going to choke out the weeds.
The goal is to have a relaxing and functional area outside for reading, exercise and socialising.
Progress: Making progress!!
Medical is mostly my husband's appointments, which I also need to attend because I'm his ears and cognition.
The goal is to keep him as healthy as he can be.
Progress: Slow and steady.
Education/Career ... little things like becoming really good at SQL, brushing up on VB, and learning data analysis software.
The goal is to expand my skillset.
Progress: Making progress with the new job!!
I've got another month to work with ... I've got a list of things to chip away at. If I just finish organising the sleeping room. If I just finish the weeding. If I only make a start at organising the files on my computer. If I just start working on things, I've made progress.
And one of my projects recently has been trying to organise my emails. I know ... excitement itself! But it's sort of coming along.
Machka in Oz11 -
Machka- Your day sounds like mine yesterday! No spiders dropping down though! I felt like an octopus trying to control 8 arms and getting nothing accomplished. I then realized that I managed to water inside plants. That was a win. Lots of things started, yet little conpleted.
My oldest grandson who is in 8th grade, just made the high school baseball team! So proud of him. They had 8 tryouts trying to cut the field down to 19. It was tough competition. He actually texted me. 🥰 He is also on the high school bowling team for the past two years and got to go to the state tournament with them this year!
His sister, who is 12, just made her dance studios senior performance competition team and gets to apprentice with the senior elite competition group! She auditioned for summer camp with the Cincinnati ballet company and got accepted. She isn't accepting that invite at this time, but was happy for the audition. She is also now on an elite theater team. So proud of her!
It is a good thing their parents have great paying jobs!
Oldest granddaughter, who graduates this year, just got her first job.
Youngest grandson, also in 8th grade, tried wrestling this winter, but really didnt like it. He is ready for baseball to start.
Posting before I move. More to come!

As for me....
I quit taking my HRT about 2 months ago. I kept forgetting to take it and wasnt seeing any adverse effects. Boy was I wrong! I have restarted it as the hot flashes, not sleeping, and according to others the mood swings were awful! It took about a week to even things out when I first started on it. I will be patient. I put them on my nightstand so I will remember to take at night. Cholesterol went down last dr visit, but still not where they want it and blood pressure seems to want to run a little high during the day. I know what I need to do.....I just have to do it! I am just so tired. Enough whining!🤪
The hot water issues continue. After replacing the heating elements in 2011 hot water heater, husband was still complaining that he was running out of hot water in shower. We have a 50 gal tank! So we bought a new hit water heater on Sunday and installed it. Yesterday morning we had hot water everywhere but his shower! We think the cartridge that controls the blend in the faucet went out. That is beyond my plumbing abilities! We have a plumber coming out on Friday. The upside is we have 2 showers.
I better get this day started!
Pip- prayers for you on this journey of finding answers.
Welcome!
Hugs!
Congratulations!
❤
Kylia in ohio with a taste of spring is in the air7 -
Drizzly day. Picking up Bea this afternoon, so we are hoping the rain doesn't get any worse! My joints were acting up this early morning. It's really grey, damp and very still.
'Smashing' is a great word, Evelyn. It has the appropriate old-fashioned air for a costume with vintage allusions. I haven't used it since I was a child, but I might do, if I were commenting on something vintage I liked.
Did a lot of writing this morning. I'm discovering so much about myself in the process. Making lots of connections that I hadn't seen before. It is so true that you never know what you think before you write about it!
Love Heather UK xxxxxxxx
PS - Thank you Barbie for your stalwart presence.
I've just heard from my DSIL's daughter that yesterday's ankle fusion went very well and she could be out today or tomorrow. I have a card to post when we go out.3 -
Thank you for the March thread, Barbie!

PiP: I am glad you have a reprieve from the pain for now, and so very glad you have an appointment tomorrow to get on with your work up.

On Weighing Food:
I have posted this info before, but with the discussion about weighing foods, I will post it again for those who may be interested.
A number of years ago I decided to meticulously weigh all of my food intake, and I was surprised at how much I had underestimated the calories.
The items where I made the most significant errors were the calorie dense items like oil, almond butter, butter, cream, nuts, and salad dressing. I can also see where it would be easy to be off by quite a bit with something like chips.
Concerning packaged foods that have one or two servings, like a frozen dinner or a can of soup, I was surprised to learn that the manufacturer is required to put at least the amount of food into the package that is listed on the label. Thus, it is not unusual for there to be more food in the package than the label says there is. So if a frozen dinner label says one helping is 250 calories, and there is one helping in the package, you would think you were getting 250 calories, but in fact, you will be getting at least 250 calories!
I also discovered that one of my former favorite quick low calorie vegetable/noodle frozen meals looks as if it should be one serving, but is actually two servings! No wonder I thought it was low calorie!

Evie, thank you. My colloquialisms are meant to be at least mildly humorous but can fall flat. At my cardiologist appointment a week ago, the nurse asked me how I was doing, and my answer was, "If I was any better, I'd have to sit on my hands to keep from waving at people." Her baffled look told me it was the wrong audience, so I sighed and said, "I'm fine, how are you?"
Pip, glad the pain has subsided for the time being. Living with that kind of pain is, well, a pain. Hope all goes well.
Karen, thanks for that reminder--my sensitivity to sugar means I check every label, and my budget means I check every price point on the items I'm purchasing. So, I do comparisons as best I can, and go from there. In terms of food, anything with more than 15 grams of sugar makes me ill, so I'm very careful to check how much sugar and how much added sugar. Many foods have natural sugar in them, such as milk.
My word for the year is "recover" and I do feel like I am making progress on that front. It is, however, painfully slow, and I am not a patient person.
My goals for February were - be lighter, be healthier, stick to the budget. The second and third were realized. I'm three pounds heavier, but we just paid another 25% of the remainder of the mortgage this weekend. We're still tracking to pay off by the end of the year, fingers crossed.
So, my goals for March are the same - be lighter, be healthier, stick to the budget.
As Rori says, "We can do this!"
Later y'all,
Love,
Lisa

Thanks BARBARA for the count. 30!

HEATHER I'm admirative of all your WO.!
I used to be excellent in that department
!!! Was for decades...all my life really roll about 4 years ago. ..
I have l
Considerably less available time and energy than I have had in the past..and WAY less energy...even part of it probably from overuse in some ways...( knees and feet...we don't all have the same constitution!!!)
So added to that are...enjoyment of food ...boredom...stress eating....
I might rejoin the local gym. I have a stationary bike okay but fir ALL the time not ergonomic enough to keep enjoying. I liked the elliptical at gym even if boring...
I'm playing w skipping analysis here and there....
Now allowed by the health advice gods.6 -

Thanks Barbie!
I'm going out to lunch with a friend to talk about whether I need to plan on going back to work. The numbers actually look better than I thought. The retirement income numbers, that is. The calorie numbers for today will be high. Sigh. But it will be good to have some social time.

Lisa, Jake and I have two favorite answers to "How are you?"
If things were any better I couldn't stand it.
If things were any better I'd have to be twins.
I love your answer.
