Good day. Good writing session. Lovely focaccia lunch. Good video while I rowed. Cleaner cleaned. Then rang G . That left me slightly down because her head is a very confused place, but I hope I was helpful. I'm just so grateful I don't live in her head. I'm meeting her for lunch next week.
DH cooked his signature chicken stew and it was delicious. I think it's important for him to keep up his cooking skills. And lovely to be treated for once. I have enough left for my lunch tomorrow.
Bea pick up tomorrow. Last one before the holiday.
Love you lots, Heather UK xxxxxx2 -
Betsy--Baby steps. Sounds like you are doing well, taking it easy. Glad Kevin was able to come for some one on one time.
Lisa--Happy birthday a day late.
Katla--Sounds like the visit with DD got some great results. Hopfully the 3 weeks until she and DGD come back will pass fast and without problems.
Tracey--So sorry to hear about your fall. I can understand how it happened as been there. Hope you are not sore for too long.
Allie--Sorry to hear Homer is not going well. We let our Jake go last Friday and it was not a good deal. This is the first time I have stayed with one of our pets and I have had nightmares since. I know it was the right thing, but sure hard. Oscar just looks at me when I come home, like ok when are you bringing my buddy back.
Rebecca--Pray Athena is doing better. Hurt my heart to see her like that.
Margaret--Glad your son's neighbors moved, but how scary for that to happen so close. I know that the last couple months they have had several homes shot into, seems to be the same 2 house a cross town from each other, but the word is it is the same group and has to do with parties and drugs. Our DGS is a police officer and I worry as things are not safe and more so that I realize happens. I have lived in this town since 1982 and before I was married the first time. Hard to believe the drugs and gangs are here.
Time to get some work done and hoping to stop at gym on way out of work. Made 3 days last week.
Blessings, Vicki GRAND ISLAND, NE7 -
Kim, Vicki, Margaret, thank you so much for the belated wishes. It's like having two birthdays. Kim - especially love your shiny meme for me. You remembered that I like shiny things! Worse than a magpie, me.
Margaret, Holy guacamole, why are you keeping that house, when it's obviously somewhere that is quite dangerous? I totally understand your attachment due to your son's memory, but your safety and DrewB's are the most important things, and somewhere subject to drive-bys is scary as stink. On another subject, during my year of being a flight attendant, St. Louis was my base. Loved St. Louis, especially Laclede's Landing. I lived right across the Mississippi River, in East Alton.
Tracey, Glad to hear you're healing nicely and fully up on your tetanus jab. Sorry about the disagreements caused by the "Slap Heard 'Round the World!" Hope it's all settled down.
My next doctor visit will be tomorrow. Longest trip I've done solo in more than two years, and it's only an hour! I switched back to my old primary doc, but he's seconded to the VA primary care division in Fayetteville. His team got really panicky in March when I was handed over to them, saying I had to come see him face-to-face in order to get me completely part of his set of patients. Lord help me, the VA genuinely believes if they can't find the paperwork, then I don't exist. Unnerving. At best.
Speaking of unnerving, my brother and my sister are ganging up on me, telling me that I need to drink a full bottle of Pepto-Bismol and I'll be just fine. I love these people, but they also make me just a teensy bit wiggy. That's OK, it's not like they can hold me down and waterboard me with Pepto. They aren't trying to do so only because one lives in Oklahoma and one in Texas, because if they were here, they'd badger me until I did it. It's nice to have people out there who care. Way out there.
Cold, rainy, wet day, and glad I'm warm and dry inside. Time to swap the laundry. Oh - and here's the pic of yesterday's labor. The ones on the left were shaped and left to rise in a specialty silicone hamburger pan. The ones on the right are the same type bread dough, but rolled to make a hamburger bun-sized roll and baked on a regular sheet pan. They barely rose at all, while the ones in the molded pan rose straight up. Just me experimenting.
Hope you're having a spiffy day today! Mine has been lovely so far.
Later, y'all,
Love,
Lisa in AR6 -
BARABA I'm having a hard time keeping track of your dog situation. Did you have one but now you have two including a puppy?
MACHKA I think younger I stayed more hour-glassy-ish (not extremely but more) It's DEFINITELY post menaupause that all goes to the middle. no doubt about it.
I'm not sure that it's worse for me appearances wise. I didn't like the thick thighs and calves, but I know health-wise (heart-wise) middle weight is not to develop! I am way less concerned about all that at this point than in my early days. Thank goodness!
It looks like you enjoy being hourglass- y (which is popular w the guys too right or at least some of them!) and you are right too!
GINNY it must be hard to choose between the 2 places/sons to live near. You are not so far from Columbus, right ? so that would have some familiarity to you right?
AZ is low taxes, great warmth, heat, probably a huge retirement community.
Would you b able to winter in AZ and summer in the north?
I'm not going crazy bout fluctuation. I was optimistic with one dip, but am now more realistic!
Such a long stretch today with no break. I skipped breakfast, miscalculated/didn't see the time and then didn't have time for lunch. was not at my best. was able to slip down for a yogurt at 4pm between classes and then got chips and another little nutty (not very sugary) snack from the vending machine.
finally having some veggies rice lentils now that I'm back home.
So pretty much non stop from like 9 am to 9pm.
class early tomorrow but no classes tomorrow afternoon; just all the rest...
looking forward to bed!
Usually I conk right out and then am wide awake some time after.
ah well!

I was trying to keep heart rate above 115 but I find it so effortful so now I try to keep it above 100 and often over 115.
Cause out of boredom I watch clips or a series or movie and then I'm thinking about the movie and not the exercise!

GINNY do you try experimenting with food, (avoiding some things) in relation to sinuses?

Crazy weather today. It is very windy, raons for a bit and then we have a very short sun break. This cycle has repeated several times. The thermometer says 49* outside but it sure feels colder than that.
Wrote my sister a letter this morning and sent it in an Easter card. I have blocked her phone on the advise of my counselor because my BIL keeps using it to pretend he is her and send nasty texts. I never have liked the man but put up with him for my mom's sake. Now she is dead I will no longer tolerate him. It just makes me sad that he makes it so hard to communicate with my sister.
KJ - loved the calming music and visual. Enjoy your vacation.
Lisa - the buns look delicious. They remind me of my Aunt Letha's buns.
Everyone take care, Sue in WA4 -
Worked today but tomorrow will try to get to the gym to do a body pump DVD.
Sue – congrats on the new addition
Tracey – I agree with you about the social media stuff. Vince doesn’t want to have anything to do with Facebook. I mainly use it to wish people happy birthday/anniversary, to keep up with the kids (but if I “like” one, the other one gets upset so I don’t do either) and other news, that’s about it. I very rarely post anything on it. That’s what I love about this group, too. We’re respectful, not petty
mia – welcome back
Ellie – talk about coworkers being half you age! You can just imagine how I feel! But in a way it’s interesting. I have so much more life experience! How soon to retirement?
People who have a wall-mounted TV: where do you put your cable box? I’m thinking that I’d like to put one of the TV’s at the condo on the wall, but there isn’t enough room below it for some sort of table to put the cable box on. Where does anyone else have theirs?
Have bowling this afternoon then ceramics tonight. Before or after bowling I want to go to the post office. I have Jess’ graduation announcement for my girlfriend in Switzerland. Even tho Ronnie won’t be there, Jess wants to send her one. She also said that I can send one to our friends who she’s met. But I really don’t want to do that. I know that she’s excited to have achieved her dream and she’d like to share it with as many people as possible. But to me, it looks like she’s asking for a gift.
Rebecca – tomorrow’s breakfast will be steel cut oats, chicken broth and coleslaw.
Barbara – I honestly don’t remember what I put down as my deductions, but I asked that they be changed to “0”. I have a sick feeling that it’s already at “0”

Hi Gals,
Lisa – a whole bottle of Pepto Bismol? Their cheese as fallen off their cracker!
Isn’t interesting to see how a form helps the bread rise, I heard it was something about having the sides of the form for the gluten to grab on to…. I am so cheap I try to avoid buying things I think seem crazy and yet this proves it, if you are doing enough hamburger style rolls, the mold is perfect!
Margaret – I agree with Lisa, why 2 homes? I know you have the memory of your son, and as I recall it gave you some “distance” which help you and DH, but with the money from the sale of the 2 home, couldn’t you have a “she shed” with insulation and heat put in to your yard? You wouldn’t have to drive between homes and would be in a safer location.
Betsy – my dad died when my mom was just 47, she’s 93 now, and it took her probably 7-10 years before she was really past the active grief place, so be kind to yourself and take your time.
Rebecca – hugs for Athena
Thinking of you all, and hoping for a happy healthy day

Lisa and Kim it is a relief that these neighbors are gone. I looked up the property on line and did my own mental cleaning of the property to get rid of the negative energy. The property owners need to clean up the mess they left behind. Another neighbor is complaining to the city about the yard to make sure something gets done. I will call too once I settle back from my trip if action is not taken. This is one of the reasons I was not ready to sell the home. I knew they were a problem that would make it difficult to sell.
I am glad I have been able to keep the property. It has helped me in the healing process of losing our son. I call it my cabin in the city. Those friends who have visited the home see why I consider it a retreat. I know it doesn't sound like one considering the problems in the city, but I know crime can happen anywhere and it does. My attitude has changed over the last few months. I go about my life with awareness and I will not allow the wrong element to make me feel frightened or make decisions that are not right for me. I love the other neighbors I have gotten to know where my son's house is. I also see why my son wanted to live in this area.
I do have a long term plan of what to do with both homes when the time is right.5 -

If you are already at Single with 0 exemptions, you can have them withhold an extra amount each pay period of whatever amount you want. Alternatively, you can make quarterly estimated payments directly to the IRS. This may be required to avoid penalties for under withholding depending on your tax situation.

Yummy!
I am munching on fridge pickles, (just an English cucumber sliced in pickle juice) and sipping the pickle juice!

Tracey-thanks for updating tetanus shot frequency-I was still working off the 10 year repeat.
Julie-You are correct that Columbus would have a bit of familiarity. Grandkids are in Arizona-son who gets married next week does not know if they will have children. I’m hoping for an epiphany! Only food I have cut back on over the years is cheese. I don’t think sinuses are food related.
Lisa-I shudder at the idea of a whole bottle of Pepto Bismol. That just has a whole other set of issues.
Carla-really haven’t had major cold symptoms (and I hate colds!). Hope you feel better with yours.
So I went to our local CVS minute clinic today (obviously took longer than a minute!). She said it looks like things aren’t draining well at all, my ears are getting congested (or should I say eustachian tubes). Put me on antibiotic for a week, gave me a script for flonase to help. Also said if I want to take something, then Mucinex is best. While I don’t have high blood pressure per se and could take Sudafed, she said the Mucinex will help things drain (guess it works with any of the bodily fluids in lungs or nose). So, I am going to listen to her. I may not give up on neti pot yet, but will try to get through this bout of stuff.
Going to get my medications done and head into bed a bit early. Sleep is probably best. May work from home tomorrow so I can rest as needed and let antibiotics kick in. Might as well take advantage of my own rules!
Take care all,
Ginny in Ohio

Okie – I think we are going to get hit with a penalty for not filing estimated taxes. Oh well….we didn’t think it would come to this.
Rebecca – I added a few raisins to the steel cut oats/chicken broth/coleslaw breakfast.
My sinuses always bother me when the weather changes. In May and October I can always guarantee that I’ll be having sinus problems.
The other two parts of the alligator were fired. My phone is in the trunk already (getting ready for tomorrow) so I’ll post a pic tomorrow

Margaret - Thankfully you weren’t at your sons house at the time of the shooting. That would be a scary position to be in.
Annie - I would talk to the doctor about how to handle your Mothers medications. I would be concerned that she’s taking them alone with some of the things you have said about her.
Carla - I use notes on my phone too.
Mia - I missed that you were a glass blower, like Carla I could watch you for hours. A studio just opened here to teach it and I’ve thought about signing up.
Heather - it’s sometimes difficult to listen to our friends in a tough place, but it’s necessary and I think appreciated.
My cousin that has take a lot of my worry lately found out today that the lump is non cancerous. I feel she’ll be fine now.
Vicki - the drugs and the mess they bring with them are moving everywhere now, not just the big cities now.
Sue - I’m sorry you are unable to connect freely with your sister. That must be difficult.
I missed the “coworkers being half your age” topic. I used to work with a lot of people that were close enough to my girls ages that I felt old. In my job now, I’m looking at life differently. We have two residents that are 103, they both are so bright and so much fun to talk with. When someone dies at 90 now, I’ve found myself saying “they were young”. Life is all a matter of perspective.
Michele - I have mine wall mounted but underneath it I have an antique treadle sewing machine. I have seen people put shelves above or below though.
I have a long day ahead of me tomorrow so think I’ll go to bed early.

Tracey - glad to hear about your cousin. I know you have worried about her a lot.
Families and close friends, eh! In one way we are lucky to have them, (very), but in other ways they are 'an opportunity for spiritual growth'.
I find my attitude to other's troubles has changed markedly in the last couple of years. I am much less judgmental than I used to be and therefore more able to listen. I'm more focused on listening and less about telling other people how they should behave. That's good, but we can still get unexpectedly triggered by some people and a situation. It happens. But I'm better able to recognise it these days.
Who knew I would get to be a calm old lady!
Both the friends I am phoning at the moment have serious background issues. (Don't we all ). I have known them for so long, that I am able to take all that into account. I can’t resist sneaking in a bit of advice now and again, but I can’t change their whole mindset. It is what it is.
I get a lot of warmth from these old friendships. It's not one way. They are happy to listen to my nonsense, which has been considerable, huge, in the past. I still have the occasional blip they can listen to with patience. Deep relationships do have to be reciprocal. I love my friends very much. And they love me.
Here endeth the first lesson.

Just popping by before I get ready to go to Craft Group. Enjoying all the magnolia blossom, and spring bulbs in my garden. It’s dull this morning, with rain possible later, so chatting and crafting sound like just the ticket.
🥳🎉 Cheers to those celebrating.

I missed it as well.
Where I worked previously, my work colleagues ranged from about 10 years younger to about 10 years older. That was all right - a good mix.
Where I am now, most are between about mid-20 and mid-30. I have always thought I was young at heart, but I don't really relate to this group. It's hard to describe - we're just in very different places and they've got an energy level I don't have.
I am looking forward to my next position ... back to the somewhat older age range.

Our daughter flew home to Illinois a week ago and will be coming back along with her daughter. Granddaughter will show DH a different way to take care of his diabetes. I am looking forward to this. I think it will be a very good thing. Granddaughter will be teaching grandpa something new in his own diabetic care. ❤️3
