Good morning ladies!
Pip, that's too bad. But it's only a human mistake. Hope your shoulder heals quickly.
I am going out to lunch today. I've been saving up extra calories, so I have 900 extra to spend. Yay! I feel rich!

A little bit about me ...
I'm Machka and I am in Tasmania, Australia. Some of my favourite hobbies/sports/activities include:
-- cycling
-- walking
-- hiking
-- running
-- gardening
-- reading
-- colouring
-- photography
-- working on my website
I bake, but don't cook, sew, knit, etc. And I don't bake much now because that would be dangerous!
Most of my day is spent working with health data and systems (which will continue for the next 6 weeks, then I move on to a different sort of data), working on a lengthy legal project in the evenings, and spending time with my husband (who suffered a severe traumatic brain injury 4 years ago) and our gorgeous black cat, Rhody.
My husband is not able to work anymore, so one of his main activities is gardening. He works at that at his own pace and we've got quite a lovely garden of flowers, fruit and veggies.
Rhody and me ...
I joined MFP in February 2015 and promptly lost 15 kg, took a 1-month break, then lost another 11 kg. By Christmas 2015, I was down to a weight I hadn't seen in quite a few years ... since my early 30s.
In 2016, 2017 and the early part of 2018 I maintained while increasing my cycling. My sport, within cycling, is ultradistance cycling: Audax, Randonneuring, 24-hour races, etc.
Here's me in 2016 in Brisbane, QLD a couple days after cycling a 300 km event in 18 hours including all breaks.
In late 2017 and early 2018, my husband and I were in great shape and feeling good. We were cycling events and on our own and building up the distances in the hopes of going to France in 2019 to ride the Paris-Brest-Paris 1200 km event. We met on a Paris-Brest-Paris in 2003, and the 2019 one was going to be a bit of an anniversary trip.
And then on March 22, 2018, my husband had a very bad accident at work ... and life changed. He was in a coma for 3 weeks and post traumatic amnesia for 7 weeks and in hospital for 100 days. Then, a year after the accident, he had a tonic clonic (grand mal) seizure which set him back. He'll never fully recover but he's doing better then they originally predicted.
He is cycling again but gets very tired so can't cycle consistently or for long distances.
Because cycling is something we've always done together, this means I'm not cycling the ultra long distances at this point either. In an attempt to boost my exercise we've set up a home gym, and I started dabbling in running. I hadn't run since I was in my late teens! We've just cleaned up the basement and reorganised the exercise equipment so we're set for winter. Now we just need to use it!
But over the past 4 years, all the time sitting at the hospital and dealing with the aspects of care for my husband, plus working, plus attending university (graduated with a Masters in 2020), plus changing jobs, has taken its toll on my weight and as you can see by the first picture, I don't look like the second picture above anymore!
I have maintained my weight for at least a year, but I'd really like to lose a bit. The difficulty for me is finding the time and energy.
So that's me in a rather large nutshell.

Good morning all! Happy Thursday!
Pip- I am so sorry! For your injury, for the "lost" trip, for the rough time with Kirby. As for the traveling snafu; I think it is really easy to misunderstand or "forget" which travel documents/enhancements you have because there are so many now. Be kind to yourself. Sending healing thoughts for all three "hurts".
Mary- Can you screen your potential renters? Ask for letters of recommendation or rental references from them? Then call the previous landlords? Maybe raise the security deposit? I think living close to your rental will give renters something to think about knowing that you could be stopping or even driving by at any time. I would keep it as a rental rather than sell.
Rita- Love the pics of you and your family. Always a good thing when family visits and it all goes well! lol
Barbie- Your Paperback Swap group is great! We still read those books that you sent us or had sent to us.
Boredom- I don't think I have been bored since my teen years. Like many of you, I learned not to use those words around my parents. Cleaning seemed to be the cure for boredom. lol I have so many things to do, housework, childcare planning, projects, volunteer stuff...there is no time to be bored. The extra hour to hour and a half that I have in the evenings are mine and I usually try to relax.
Wow! Denise Austin. That is a blast from the past! I had a couple of her workout videos when I was in my 20s. I didn't like her voice/energy back then. When the Susan Powter "Insanity" routines came out, I jumped all over that. Pretty sure I wouldn't be able to keep up with Susan P, now. lol Denise Austin's voice is not that irritating to me now, either. lol I would probably be hard pressed to keep up with her.
My new mattress pad came yesterday. It is a 2 1/2 inch latex/memory foam hybrid. It is also lavender infused. It has to "rest" for 48 hours before putting it on the bed. So...I could be getting a better night's sleep this weekend. Fingers crossed.
It is an overcast morning; but the sun is shining through the clouds. I love that kind of light in the morning. It makes everything look so sharp and vivid green. Ten kids today. New baby is settling in well. He is recovering from tongue tie procedure and we are dealing with his high palate; but he is a trooper and is adjusting to bottle feeding well. At three months, he still sleeps a lot, but seems to be awake while everyone else naps. Good-bye to my hour of quiet lunch. lol At least he is a pretty happy guy.
I better scoot. We are doing some water/plant study today. The kids were curious about what happens to flowers when it rains. So we will be getting some flowers wet to find out. (surface tension, plant mechanics) Love and hugs to all! ttfn xoxoxo KJ (Kelly)

Today
Work
X-ray and Ultrasound of right foot - sounds like it's not a tendon thing
Husband's cardiology appointment - good news
Standing in the dark with cat
Relaxing a little bit
Legal stuff
Happily, I'm off work for the next 4 days.
This would suit me just fine. I might use this as inspiration for whenever I get to work on my home office.

Welcome @BeYourBestSelfDeb Debbie from OH, we’re happy you’re here, too!
Lanette thanks for the Mark Mattson link. You encourage me. I’ve always shied away from IF as I get headachy and even nauseous if I go too long without eating, and if my first bite is protein, I get paralyzing heartburn. BUT I do believe I can (and do) go 12 hrs water-only fasting and could do that a couple of days a week. Hmm… “food” for thought  Like the idea of your grass hook, is the handle long enough to use while standing up?
Rita great pics, so glad you had a good time. ‘bout time you had some fun.
Heather Mrs. Green and the Yippee! eraser.
Carol, what you said to pip. IMHO pip felt bad enough, didn’t need the silent treatment. Unworthy of him.
Kelly, what a cutie the new baby is! Look forward to hearing about the water/plant experiments. Have I told you lately how much I want to be one of your childcare kiddos?
Joe will go into town later this morning, That will be my cue to [shudder] vacuum the house and excavate the laundry mountain. Some treat that alone time is, eh?

Barbara I frequently spend my alone time doing chores. The joy for me is that I can have TV or music on that suits me without having to wear headphones and be asked questions while I work.
Pip, I am sad for you and Kirby and your disappointment about your trip. We've all done stuff like that.
Jake had to wait extra long for his nuclear imaging yesterday because his blood pressure was too low so they had to give him a saline drip to raise it. Fortunately he had coffee and a snack waiting for him in the car for his hour long drive home. He wanted comfort food later after his ordeal so we went through the drive through at Taco Time and got tostada salads. Yum.

Dentist appointment in three hours, not my favorite thing--but then again, I never met anyone who liked going. The dentist wanted me to schedule for a crown when I got my teeth cleaned in April. An old filling is loose, and it's too large a cavity to just refill, so a crown has to be done. My insurance won't cover it, so I said no at that time, as it was feeling fine. Well, now anything cold gives me an incredibly painful jab right in that tooth, so it's time to bite the bullet (bad pun, very much intended). The cost will be nearly $800 out of pocket, and even more if they have to do a root canal. It's money that will have to be pulled from the house payoff savings account, which will delay us a bit, but it's necessary.
One thing always happens when I get dental work done - I walk out with one doozy of a headache just from keeping my mouth open for long periods of time. I ask them to put a bite blocker on the other side to allow my jaw to relax, but sometimes they just can't work around it. I still get the headache if they use the bite blocker, but it's not quite as bad.
The headache reminded me. Gave up and got my hair cut yesterday, thereby avoiding my usual pattern... when my hair gets long enough to get in my face, I start holding it back with a hairband, which always gives me a headache, and then bobby pins. Once it gets long enough to put a pony tail in, it stays in one for all waking moments. Hairbands, pins, pony tail holders all cost money, and after a certain point I still get my hair cut anyway, and end up giving all the hair accessories to my granddaughter. And then I have to buy all the hair stuff again a few months later when my hair gets longer.
I talked to my sister last week, and she is getting all her teeth pulled and getting dentures. She's two years younger than I am. What struck me as funny was that she's really looking forward to it. I went looking for a picture of her and fell down the rabbit hole of old pictures, but she didn't smile much because she had slightly buck teeth, and was self-conscious about them. I'm looking forward to seeing her smile.
Time to take a shower and head for the dentist about an hour from now.
Later y'all,
Love,
Lisa7 -

I stop eating about 9 pm most nights, sometimes earlier.
During the week, I eat "breakfast" at 11:30 am.
On my days off, I eat "breakfast" somewhere between 1 pm and 2 pm.
I'm quite comfortable going 14-17 hours without food, as long as there is at least 7 hours of sleep in the middle somewhere!
I've never been a breakfast eater. Eating breakfast earlier in the morning just seems to be an "ON" switch and I'm starving all day.

Lisa....wishing you the best at your dental appointment, can't say I like them but go every 6 months so I don't have any major issues. Time to get smart and not give away your "pretties" as some of my daycare girls call them .
The sun is shining but it's cool out. Laundry is done and going to hang out some of it, love the fresh smell and it's easier on clothes than the dryer.
Need to refocus on snacks....why is weight loss SO darn hard and snacks so appealing! Weight is still down a bit from last week so it's progress and I'm in it for the long haul.
Have a fabulous day my friends!

Thx for your patience. I’m still not in the mood to talk about all that has happened. Here’s what I sent to a friend that gives some explanation:
“No fun, we we r home. I ruined another great event for kirby. We got to the ship ready to board and I didn't have my enhanced drivers license. That's what I needed to board the ship so I could get into Canada. I thought for sure that I had it. U can imagine how devastated I was when I realized I didn't have it. We drove almost straight through (back home)with the exception of two small breaks. No talking, he won't forgive me, I am beside myself with grief. I didn't eat anything except for the oatmeal I had with sue. Got home around 8am on the 14th, the next day, I. Didn't eat , on the morning of the 15th, I woke up and had some vertigo and I may have fainted cuz I woke up and kirby was helping me up. I think I broke my shoulder again (same left one) but in a different spot. Went to ER on the 17th Life is not good right now.”
He is talking to me now, things are better, I still feel like crap. Arm in a sling for two weeks no surgery. Break is on the same shoulder, it’s under where the plate I have.
Do you have someone from your family nearby to check on you?
Waiting 2 days to go to ER is a long time. I hope you weren't encouraged to just wait during that time.
M in Oz
Waiting to go to ER was all me. Dumb move I know. Things are better with us. He scheduled another cruise in October. I cried my way into having him forgive me. Things are good again. Thx for everyone’s concern.12 -
Pip, Pip, Hooray!
I went to the massage . It felt absolutely wonderful, but half an hour is too short. I've scheduled another one for next week, but for an hour that time. I will have to get the money out of my savings account, but it's worth it. She really seems to have 'the touch'. My son was really enthusiastic about her and her face lit up when she realised I was his mother!
Having monkfish kebabs for dinner with salad and a bit of rice. I have done no exercise at all today.
My friend L is having trouble recovering from her hip replacement. I assume it's just temporary. It's a big operation.
Love Heather UK xxxxxxxx waiting for DH to get back from the barber's.3 -
You're lucky M. Seems that MN nice, isn't nice at all when you sneeze from allergies (into my elbow... always the teacher, thank you very much) and you get a rude look or some "Karen" who yells at you to "PUT ON A MASK!".
ps... I would LOVE that home office! I do have a lovely view out my kitchen "home office", so I really can't complain much.
Love the pix, Rita! Looks like WAY too much fun.
Oh no, Pip... So sorry for all the stress. Sending you HUGE, tender HUGS and as much love as I can. Please eat!
Had a wonderful dinner with a dear, dear old friend last night. We've worked together for 20 years and she's getting ready to retire next year. We're in different buildings and we make sure to get together at least 3-4 times a year to catch up. We'll continue to do this after she ABANDONES ME!!! LOL It was so much fun to reminisce about all of the kids we've worked with and all of the fun and chaos we've been through! OH MY... the chaos!
Well, that being said... back to work for me. Have a GREAT DAY ALL!

A good portion of us wear masks here. We have to wear them on the bus and some office buildings (like mine) require them too. Of course anything medical requires them. Plus several of us feel more comfortable in a mask inside shops where there are people.
I take mine off when I'm outside and away from people for a breath of fresh air. Everywhere else I go requires or encourages them.
But I'm happy I won't have to wear one much for the next 4 days as I'm off work!

Worked then stopped at the dollar store. Came home to get dinner ready then the Green Room this afternoon after which I go for my shot of prolia. Depending on what time I get out, I may go to Aldi
KJ – I can still remember when the kids were little and we went to see MIL and FIL who were retired. I remember FIL saying “now that I’m retired, I’m so busy I don’t know where I found the time to work”. I remember thinking “yea, right”. Now I know what he means!!!!. Denise Austin’s DVD’s don’t seem to be too hard. We really do need a new mattress topper (foam). Don’t know why Vince hasn’t gotten one. Maybe he just hasn’t noticed that we need one, so I’ll mention it to him. Oh, what a sweet baby. He looks so happy, I bet he’s happy all the time
Barbara – Vince has this thing that goes into the microwave but then you can strap it around your waist. He warms that up and then uses it for the warmth. He’s going to the MD Tuesday to have it lanced. The reason he can’t go sooner is because he’s on a blood thinner and has to stop it a few days beforehand.
Lisa – good luck at the dentist. That’s always SOOO much fun….
Pip – so glad things are OK now with you and Kirby
The only places that require a mask here are hospitals and some doctors.
Off to the Green Room

Barbara — It has been almost a year since I went to Cannon Beach with my daughter and her family. We came home to extreme heat. My hanging fuchsia died from the heat. I replaced it with a red geranium. I liked it so well that I’m planning to get another geranium this year. I like a sunny day at the beach but that was the hottest weather I can remember at the coast or here. 🥵
Barbie — Sorry that Jake had to wait a long time for his nuclear imaging. I imagine he was happy to get home. ❤️
Lisa— I hope your dentist appointment goes well. 🙏🏻
Pip — I’m glad things are better between you & Kirby. I hope your new cruise will be delightful. 😘
Heather — A massage sounds like a wonderful treat. 😊1 -

Pip You are still healing from your surgery and have Yogi's health to think of too. You and Yogi are more important than a trip. Kirby will come to his senses. In the meantime make your healing number 1. You have to give yourself oxygen first. Focus on you.
In the detox dog summit the talked about in those times of stress if all you have is a minute take deep breaths to the count of 5 in 5 out. Then think of a memory that makes you smile. Some of my recent ones were coming out of a Chinese take away which had fun dancing music playing a small child was dancing to it. I joined in and danced with him. AHHH!! Today on my walk with DrewB I stopped by a white flowering crabapple tree that was in the city park and gave thanks for the tree and its blooms. I stood and took my 5 breaths in, 5 breaths out. I give these as examples becasue I am becoming more convinced it is these simple pleasures of life that give me joy that no one can take from me. AHHH!
I am also getting in the habit of turning off my Wifi when not in use.8 -
