Good morning all! Happy Wednesday!
[
Heather- Well, you look great in all of your outfits! I wouldn't call one little blip with your DH a big problem. If my DH and I traveled together, we would have "daily" blips. Perhaps even a blip or two each day. We tend to rub eachother the wrong way when we travel. Probably because he is not a traveler, and I am usually dragging him along. We haven't taken a trip together since our 2017 roadtrip to TX when Joaquin was born. lol Me to him: "Just take another pill and go back to sleep!"
Love and hugs to all who need them! ttfn xoxoxo KJ (Kelly)
I think that might be dh and I if we actually ever went somewhere just the two of us.(except for the go back to sleep, as he drives)- He invites his friend to go with us on every single trip we take. A weekend trip or two week trip/10 day cruise, yep, Victor is invited along with son, his girlfriend, Victor's daughter, her boyfriend(that is what it was for our last trip which was a cruise). I think the last time he and I did an over night trip, just us, was when son was about 3-4yrs old- went to Reno to Leanne Rhimes concert. Son is now 24yrs old. When a trip is mentioned, his first thought is to make sure it works in Victor's schedule. On these trips, I have to remind him that I am there too-he thought I was joking at first, didn't even realize what he does on every one. Sad when there is that many people together and feel alone.7 -

Last night at MIL's went well- I went over early(as soon as my daycare girl left at 4:15)- took dinner with me. Made my version of shepherd's pie, salad and strawberries w/ whipped cream. She said it was really good.
Sent dh home as soon as he ate to get some sleep before going to work.
She fell asleep and I watched tv, woke her up at 9 to give her her pain pill and take her to the bathroom- didn't want to but told her she needed to before I went to bed. She went back to sleep and slept all night which was really nice- got to sleep til 6:45. Made her some tea then walked her dog until dh got there with her breakfast-
Dh didn't get much sleep-I am sure he was enjoying some alone time and went to bed later than he should- went to sleep and then son's girlfriend called him, worried because the GPS on his phone said he was in Napa. Ended up being an error. He was asleep in bed and had his phone with him. Didn't realize that she had a tracker set up on him
Hoping dh gets to nap at his mom's.
I have my daycare girl until about 4:30 and zumba at the park at 6:30. Meeting there at 6 to walk before class.
Need to figure out what to take for the picnic after class.
Katla- praying your husband is doing better this morning.

Since we've been back in Minnesota I noticed that most events are around food! It's so much easier when it is just me and my husband. Seems like a lot of people all they think of is eating! Then I think of eating! I would be lost if I did not have this app to keep me on track!! So tempted to be able to eat whatever I want whenever I want but then of course you all know what happens!!

Tune in at the end of the day tomorrow for the link to the new thread for July. I put it on my "to do list" so I don't forget.

An eventful day here. This morning my husband and I were traveling to my parents on a major interstate. I was driving and traffic was heavy. I had a semi behind me and one coming up along side when a deer ran in front of my Ford Explorer. With an unnatural calm, I slowed the vehicle down to about 40mph and hit the deer. The semi beside me I passed and the one behind me swerved around me. Had I braked hard we would have been rear ended. Had I swerved to the left we would have been struck by a semi and had I swerved to the right we would have rolled. I was able to set off the road where husband could check vehicle. Deer destroyed the front grill and put a hole in the radiator. We were fortunate to only be a half mile from a thruway service plaza. My husband took over and drove the leaking vehicle to a safe spot. From there we dealt with the state police and getting a tow truck. We are both fine. No one on the road was hurt … just the deer. It could’ve been so much worse. I’m feeling very thankful.
This afternoon, however, my husband received a note from his doctor that his blood work shows he has crossed over into diabetes. His Numbers are on the lower side but this is a wake up call. I will be going with him to his appointment with a nutritionist next week.
Heather … I know all about “domestics” … my husband and I ended up having one at home when all the dust settled from today’s events. Good thing we love each other.

I'm only 55 ... people my age aren't eligible to retire here till 67. I've got at least another 12 years to go!
In January, I got 2 jobs. One is a permanent position, the other a 6-month position. Before I even started with the permanent position, I arranged with the permanent position to second me to the 6-month position. The 6-month position is finished and next month I will, at last, start with the permanent position.
I have yet to officially work a day with the permanent position (despite the fact that I've been on their books for 6 months), but I have been over there for meetings a few times so I've met everyone and have conversed by email.
Gotta love COVID!
M in Oz
Just wanted to explain this a little bit further ...
When we all went into shutdown in 2020, people reassessed their lives, and many grew restless.
At the same time, COVID opened up a whole heap of jobs. Temporary jobs, at first, but as time has gone by, there has been increased spending on health and some of the jobs have morphed into being more permanent.
So people decided to make changes in their lives. Some work less (opening up more jobs). Some have gone for different jobs that may suit them better for one reason or another.
There has been a great deal of job movement.
The department I worked in for 8 years with a very stable workforce has blown apart - at least half of us have moved to a different position either temporarily or permanently. And that department is certainly not the only one.
As it happened, I finished my degree and graduated in December 2020, then applied for a job within my department which I didn't get ... and then, as all sorts of jobs started opening up, I applied for 7 more. My 2 job thing was only possible because someone was seconded to a COVID department and everyone shuffled one chair over (so to speak) ... and I came in for 6 months of backfill.
At the same time, I also dropped one day per fortnight ... down to a 9 day fortnight because my reassessment indicated I needed that extra day for my own stuff.
So for better or worse, COVID has shaken things up. It has been destructive but it has also created opportunities.

Worked today then cut the grass (weeds). Went in the pool, had dinner then went to Aldi since Vince needed milk. Half hour and $117 later, I was home. Went for a walk tonight after we hung up the placque.
Tracey – The placque is glaze. What is it that you don’t know how you feel about the new job? Cute gd
KJ – we used to have a sprinkler that “rode” on the hose. Check this out. This way you won’t have to constantly go out and move the hose, the sprinkler moves where you have the hose
Leslie – hugs
Carol GA – I bought this pantsuit quite a few years ago at the Salvation Army. It was only 99 cents. I thought I’d wear it, but I never did so I’m going to redonate it.
Mary – sounds like Newcomers (eating). I swear all they do is sit and eat. The bowling is probably the most active activity we have. Sit and play games/cards, that they do AFTER they eat. Sad in a way
Allie – happy birthday girlfriend!
Beth – so glad you are safe and only the car was messed up. The deer are something else! So sorry to hear about your husband

Katla - thinking of you, your DH and delighted to hear your kids will be there to help and be supportive of you.
Happy birthday to the June birthdays
Beth - I remember the drilling my dad gave me Feathers/Fur, slow down if possible but your life and the lives of those entrusted to you as the driver are the first priority. Fast forward 10 ish years and I got my school bus drivers license the class was taught by a police officer (10 -6 hour sessions = 60 hours of how to drive and the responsibility that a full bus of 72 children means) and he used almost the exact same line - found out in talking with him that he and my dad knew each other. You did everything the way that officer would have said to do! I have only had to use it in relation to feathers - I a sea gull and I ran into each other... but calm and slower if possible is so often the only safe option. So glad you had the training/thought process to make that choice.

Beth - yay for your clear thinking. So glad things turned out OK.
Everyone take care, Sue in WA1 -
Still catching up
Love to all

Beth - Ooohh! Well done. I don't know if I could have been so calm.
Gymmed this morning. Waltz tuition at 11. Line dancing at 2.15. Hooray!
Fog horn going.
Thinking of Katla.
Love you all, Heather xxxxxxxx2 -

It was the same way when I lived in Manitoba.
Every single event, get-together, meeting or whatever had to be accompanied by mounds of food. And heaven forbid if I showed up with a plate of raw veggies!

End of the month already? How did that happen?
Katla ((hugs)) and prayers for your DH, you and safe travels for your children.
Happy birthday Allie! Great news from the labs. Will Miles eat strained prunes ?
Belated best anniversary congratulations, Lisa!
Pip most beautiful couple, then and now. What Tracey and KJ said.
Heather the pics, Your arctic circle references bring Penny @lagopus to mind. Miss her. “Scandi licorice” Always happy to see your smiling face, your attractive formals and there are never too many waterfalls for me!
Leslie gorgeous feeder, is it blown glass? 5 days on track Brava! Sorry to hear your dad is “resistant to treatment”. It would be difficult for your mom to break the pattern of covering for him. Hard times.
Rita ((hugs))
Annie Like Kylia said one bad decision is not the end. You were doing so very well on the steps, dumbbells and yoga, you CAN do it again!
Lanette likewise so many of my friends having health and/or caregiving struggles. Makes me sad.
Tina 5K in the depths of he||? SMH!
Vicki ((hugs)) and prayers your DIL's heart will soften. Glad you got to see GD for a little while this visit.
Kylia glad the storm cleared your migraine. Impressed you were able to catch up paperwork.
Rori want to be working in a crowd of a million? No brainer for me… NOT!
Kay could that helicopter have been a greeting from heaven?
Suebdew sure you did a great job leading water aerobics, but a little notice would have been nice…
Debbie ((hugs)) “Sad when there is that many people together and feel alone.” That was me when we moved to Boise. Joe’s brother, 3 nephews, our rent-a-son and me. Never felt so alone in my life, even though I’d lived solo for 11 years after college. Creeps me out that your son’s girlfriend has a tracker on him. Is that socially acceptable nowadays?
Michele the sand dollar plaque! Admire all of you creatives who paint, sew, quilt, upscale, etc. Not my gift
Machka fingers Xd the coworkers at new job are less chatty
Terri what is your summertime craft project?
KJ the kid pics but most of all your 5 lbs at a time success!
Carla “Godcidences” love it. Looks like you need a supershredder
Welcome back @DvineLvine Keren in OR! Here’s how to bookmark the thread so you can find us again easily. Like the insight of fasting as a kindness to the body, giving it time to rest and heal. Thanks!
Kylia what you said to Annie about one bad decision not meaning the end. Well said!
Ginny that hair cut sounds cool!
Mary ((hugs)) Parkinson’s is such a hard diagnosis. ((hugs))
@allieberri belated best birthday wishes. Would you remind me what you’d like to be called and your general locale?
Carol congratulations on purging work clothes. Well done!
Beth Scary!!! “unnatural calm” Well done.
Kim you drove a bus full of 72 children? You deserve a medal!
Karen, Sue, Viv, Kate and everyone I missed, good to see you posting.
When I reminded Joe that his nephew and bride would be stopping by at lunch time on their way to Santa Cruz, he said it would be a good day for him to go fishing and he’d be back around 5pm. I just smiled and said Have Fun! Instead, he was amazingly gracious when they arrived, showing them around, asking them to carry a box of memorabilia to his brother in Boise, even allowing his nephew to hug him hello and good bye. Miracles happen.

Beth-great job handling deer. I don't know how I would have handled it. I am tending to take alternate routes to heavy interstate traffic as I get older. Hope your husband copes with the diabetes. I remember my husband was so depressed when he received diagnosis. Sadly, he was never very good at controlling it.
Allie-happy birthday!
Debbie-sounds like things are settling down for you guys somewhat. Hope it continues. Very difficult for everyone.
Heather-your cruise is keeping you active!
Today and tomorrow will be shorter days at work somewhat. Today I get off at 3. I have my physical therapy assessment for pelvic floor therapy. This should be interesting.
Tomorrow I work from home and go to an 11 am monthly meeting with boss. Off after that. Son and DIL coming for pick up of items and then traveling to their new house (about 40 minutes away).
No real plans for long weekend. Will just do things around house, get in some early day walks. Looks like we are moving into our cycle of weather in the mid to upper 80s with humidity and pop up showers for the next week or so. Typical July weather here.
Think I am going out for a quick walk before work-beats the heat.
Take care all,
Ginny in Ohio
