Tracey I have seen Garth a couple of times ,first time was when he was first out and about and i paid the money for 6th row floor seat.. man it was awesome..,then another time I saw him somwhere cant remember, third time i saw him,with Tom in Worcester with his wife Trisha Yearwood.. thats who he really wanted to see.

Happy to have the weekend here!

Kim-very scary fire event. I have not been that close to one. There was a house next to us that caught fire when I was a kid, but it was contained. When I lived outside San Diego there were fires threatening to come over the mountain and sweep down. Even though it was a distance away the smoke was heavy and the ashes fell like snow. Can't imagine being in your situation.

Debbie-it sounds like your husband is starting to consider help. He just needs to process it-sounds like their relationship has been incredibly complicated. It seems like a lot of older people I have known have mainly turned to sweets towards the end. Maybe something happens to our taste buds?

Running offf to Meijer early to pick up just a couple of things. Cleaning out little freezer so son can take it to his new house next weekend. He and wife will use it more than I will at this point. I bought it for pandemic so I didn't have to go out as much. He is also picking up big tv next weekend. I have told them they get first pick of stuff before I move (not taking furniture, etc.). Since they are moving into newly purchased house they are asking about things sooner than I anticipated but I will let them take everything I can work around. I will have him bring my smaller tv out to living from bedroom (don't have to have one there). Will be interesting experience for several months but will further jump start purging!

Need to get moving. SIL will call at 8 and am meeting friend for was at 10:30.

Ginny - Sounds like a good way to purge your house of things. Not sure why, but It reminded me of my brother's old joke. He said he decided to simplify his life by finding a woman and just giving her half his stuff. That it would save him money and legal hassles. He knows whereof he speaks since he's married still to his seventh wife, but they're separated. I think. They were the last I heard, anyway. All but two of my siblings were serial marriers.

It's interesting to me right now because one of my old patterns is getting thrown overboard, and that's keeping a bunch of items that are too good to throw away, so I keep them to put in my next garage sale. I had a realization in the shower last night that I have no intentions of having a garage sale ever again, so I'm going to see if we can take that whole pile of stuff to Goodwill this morning and donate it. Our kids are completely uninterested in our stuff, for their own very good reasons, and I like my privacy too much to let anyone come paw through my stuff anymore.

Heather - The pictures are gorgeous, thank you! I had to take a second look at that last one before I realized the tiny dots at left were people and how big that river gorge actually WAS. Holy guacamole...

Terri - Enjoy your restful Saturday! Mine will depend on my husband's energy levels. Another scorcher of a day coming, so not much outside work. Long story short, I pushed things too hard on Wednesday, and made the mistake of telling him, so last night, he told me we're going looking for a self-propelled lawnmower.

So... stuff goes out, stuff comes in. It's all just one big circle of life... because "circle of stuff," just sounds silly...

We drove to Walgreens in the evening yesterday to pick up Jake's newest prescription. First they called to say the insurance wouldn't cover it, then he got an email and a voice mail that said it was ready. LOL. It was late and the store was nearly empty. We went in to look for q tips that were unavailable at the grocery store where we do curbside pick up for groceries. The q tip shelves at Walgreens were empty, too. So I guess now there may a q tip famine. Amazon has them at a slightly inflated price.

Long post about what I am going through with my wonderful pet Drew...

Went to vet for check up. She is still anemic. I looked into a holistic vet. Not taking any new pets.

The story is she had a scare a year ago. She looked to be bleeding internally in upper digestive tract. They went so far as to do a ultra sound. It was awful because of COVID. I dropped her off a 8 in the morning and they did not do the test until 4 in the afternoon and I was not allowed to be with her. NO talk of anemia. A month later rountine vet visit again not allowed to be with her. They gave her four shots that day. A month later starting to show signs something was not right in October diagnosed Anemic with a good chance due to auto immune. When took her in this week he wanted to due further test but only a 50% chance of showing caused by auto immune and then it still might be autoimmune. Treatment is steriods that may or may not work to get this in remission. They start the drugs and if it works know 100% it is autoimmune. She also has a heart murmer because of this. At least he agreed with me about no vaccines and taking her off flea and tick preventative. I am still trying to find an alternative to Heartworm. Until I do I will give her heartworm meds with no plus because with her heart issue she cannot avoid to get heartworm. I did learn I can give it to her every 45 day not 30 and a break in winter 6 weeks after mosquito season ends.

She did not end up with seisures like some dogs do with vaccines and flea and tick products. At least the anemia is stabilized and is not so bad she needs a transfusion.

Rita I need a functional vet.

I have been doing my research and right now I am opting to treat her with diet ( using a diet suggested by a holistic vet for a dog with blood disorders), she needs just the right amount of exercise (not too strenuous), keeping low stress (hence no more dog walker because she cowered when dog walker rang the door bell). Rest when she needs it in a calm environment. I am also using gentle touch and letting her be the guide and sound therapy. There is a sound therapy summit I registered for the get further ideas. Watch her exposure to toxins both in the home and outside. (Avoid yards that look like golf courses because I know they have to use chemicals to make them look like that) I will not keep her in a bubble. She still needs to play, meet other dog friends in the right conditions, and exposure to other people.

Steriods only treat the symptoms it does not get at the root cause which is inflamation. Steriods have a dark side too. Weight gain, personallity change, can be hard on the heart and with a heart murmer another reason to look for alternatives.

I believe this was caused by all her trauma three homes in six years and over vaccinations. She has the personality that rather than aggresive she turned inward and her body started attacking itself through her blood.

The up side for me is it makes me look harder at my own health and limits.

I still believe vaccines have their place. I still think more emphasis needs to be on diet, exercise, sleep, balancing activitiy so it is not overwheming to keep pets and people healthy.

I still think of a colleague I worked with who went through numerous vaccinations too quickly so he could travel overseas for work. He ended up with seisures the rest of his life and he was never the same again. This was over 30 years ago so the info to treat this was not there like it is today.

The waterfall was the Gullfoss, one of the 10 best in the world.
Today we saw fabulous beaches , glaciers, lava.
How about this for tenacity? I'm sure there's a lesson there.

Oh man, Kim. God Bless you honey. Fire is one of my biggest fears. I don't know if I would have made it through that drive! Being married to a volunteer didn't help me either! God Bless those firefighters!!! And then, what does he do? He goes on to 20 years in a big rig! Dang that man!

Annie ~ How is your pup getting so many fleas? It seems like you have been treating him for months and they don't go away.

Michele ~ You are lucky to have a pool to jump in even though you have said sometimes it is too warm.

Allie ~ Glad your son had a fantastic trip! Did you have to go pick him up at the airport? That would have been late.

Barbie ~ Yes, it seems like the stores are missing more and more of the things we have always taken for granted.

DH is meeting a man to see about the AC/Heating unit being replaced in our rental house. First quote was almost $10,000.

Went over for more loodwork per my kidney dr and she never sent the fax in sheesh.. will call them monday morning to make sure it gets in so i can get it done before my appointment.

Carol I missed a dose of the preventative that goes on Teddy's back in November. So that was my fault. I tried all Spring to get rid of them but these are now resistant to the preventative I used. Capstar works but only for adult fleas and only 36 hours or so. I finally called the vet, and they said use Frontline Gold. I had to wait 30 days from the last dose, so he got that today. Hoping for the best.

Yes it's been a struggle off and on for months now.

Last night I worked the Widespread Panic concert. My first time listening to this jam band and being around their dedicated fan base. Great fun, and I got 13,000 steps. Today, I feel it but am off so will get in an easy workout in the gym, then lunch with my travel ladies group.

Have you ever tried Seresto? It is a collar that worked against ticks and fleas for me when I was in a high infection area in New England. Might help. I’m no vet but it worked for us.
