July accountability: 7 days AF
Alcohol: 18 days (43 drinks)
Goal: Limit 1-2 glasses per day; 12-16 AF days per month. Aim to drink no more than 2 nights in a row.
Back from vacation and now need to work on a few AF days to round out July.
My mom is still on the road now visiting friends in Louisiana. She is good but cut her trip short by one day because of people pressuring her to move to Arkansas! LOL5 -

Hey gang!
Yes having elderly parent(s) is a challenge, the person is not so much the challenge for me it is the medical teams/suppliers that are making me insane.
I did have 2 beers Saturday and Sunday. I don't feel bad about them. I am in a good place with the alcohol right now. I look forward to what I now refer to as my weekend beer vs. my 7 nights a week vodka or whiskey with the beers on the weekend afternoons. I have come a long way (in my head) from Jan 2021 to now.
Anyway, going forward I am going to continue this for awhile.
Remodel front......Kitchen just a few minor adjustments and still finding homes for things. Some may not come back to the kitchen party
Master bath....80% there have the finishing touches and touch up paint to do.
Main bath...demo Aug 1 yikes5 -
Hi : - )
My name is Dawn.
My continuing goal is 16-20 AF days per month.
I had 19AF days in June.
Diary style:
Friday July 22: Drinks
Saturday July 23: Drinks - late in posting due to power outages. Planning to hit my 16 this week.
Sunday July 24 - AF - Going to try and stay AF until Saturday - unless I can get a very big chunk of my jobs done before that.
Monday July 25 - AF - Busy week, but traded some shifts so that I can get a much needed day at the lake on Thursday. Haven't had the time yet this year. Working a split shift on Saturday and totally planning on having a few cocktails after that. I find that I am not as lively as I would like to be after having drinks the previous evening and need my wits about me this week.

Hi! I'm Robyn.
My goal is 16 - 19 AF days per month.
Mon 7/25 - Drinks (3) - DH took me out for a nice birthday dinner at a great Italian restaurant. The meal was delicious with a heavy cream sauce. I weigh THREE pounds more today than yesterday (drats and double-drats!). I'm getting back on track today. The good news is that I will hit my 16 this week if I stick to plan! Finding this group has been so helpful and eye-opening to me.
Rolling Total = 13 AF out of 25 days

Steak night ... 1 glass of red wine. DH at dinner wished we had a second bottle because he drank most of it prior to cooking. I poured mine and set it on the table waiting for me ... though I did walk by and take a sip every now and then I was not carrying it around with me, nor had it at the kitchen island as I prepped food, nor sat with it watching tv before we started cooking. I enjoyed my glass for the evening and glad that I held myself accountable to not drink 2 glasses. Though it was not the AF evening I had planned.

Well, thanks to to so many of y'all for making my disfunctional family look sane. At 75 I'm still capable of carrying in my own firewood, and using the weed-eater to keep my yard in check. After losing 30 pounds in a month due to covid, I felt that I didn't weigh enough to keep my huge riding lawn tractor in check on my hilly yard...gave that over to Middle Daughter's husband. Hated to give up any independance at all, but did not have a death wish. For those who have seen the Velveeta commercials with a white-haired lady on an orange mower...That's me, without the steep hills. My daughters are hysterical !!!
Is "Long-Covid" fatigue from having the disease or fear from having a relapse of the disease ?? Trying to push through back to "normal" .
After a recent year sans alcohol, I've been moderating the best I can. Ups and downs. No "tipsy nights " when there is no memory of going up to bed...why wasn't the front door locked ?? A few times thinking that the wine bottle that was finished didn't need to lead to another that was opened...
Eldest Daughter came up from Louisiana for a month this Spring...My Grandson's Senior Prom-18th Birthday- Graduation fom 2 different schools....So Much Love.
I attended none of the above. Masks and social distancing have never been a priority with that crowd, so...
I fought the birds for a few containers of mulberries this year ...Christmas bran flakes with frozen berries will be nice. The blackberries didn.t survive the summer drought . The last two years they were awesome. This year, no rain.
THIS WAS A "LOST POST" SO I;M EDITING A BIT AND SENDING IT ON..UNLESS IT GETS :LOST' AGAIN...LOL...LOSING WEIGHT, DRINKING LESS, HAPPYING MORE...
OBVIOUSLY, LESS BOOZE=LESS WEIGHT...LESS DRINKING=MORE TIME FOR CLEAR HEADED FUN LATER.
Catpuccino & I send many purrs & hugs...keep cool & keep to your goals...tiny wins again and again add up to HUGE wins in the end..
Ciao/ Meow

Hi all! Just caught up with pages of threads.
For all those caring for elderly parents- I totally understand. I’ve been there. Before my parents died, my dad was the “I don’t want to be a burden” guy. Well, by trying not to be a burden, he was way more of a burden! Ugh. That, and stubborn. Miss them both terribly, though!
My colonoscopy went well last week, no issues, and I can rest in knowing I don’t need another one for 5 years!
I have not been doing well on the alcohol front. I am making a beeline to that bottle of wine after work or at dinner time. Discipline is out the window at the end of a long, stressful day at work. One glass is creeping up into two- again. Ugh. And now we head into the weekend. I do better having one glass of wine if I’m out at dinner, because I have to drive home. But when I’m home, it’s very easy to pour that 2nd glass because I have nowhere to be. Problem is I am exhausted the next day, and the cycle continues.
I think I need to just not keep wine in the house, but that’s unrealistic considering my husband also enjoys wine. So that means willpower and discipline at the end of the day, when I am at my most vulnerable. I don’t reach for other types of drinks, just wine.5 -

Wednesday July 27 - AF - Yay to hitting my 16. Knowing that I had Thursday off tempted me, but going to a lake with a bloated belly was the motivation I used not to. Planned AF until Saturday night. Very hot here. @globalhiker I went to Jimsmith Lake after work - quite busy, but close to my house and I needed to cool off. Thursday will be a full lake day at one of my favourite lakes for floating : - )

Oh my lovely (snicker snicker) drinking buddies.
The stress level is high still, but I was called out by family to tone down the intensity of my expectations with customer service/medical field/all people LOL. It is not that bad but when someone in a customer related field will only give you one syllable answers to complex questions you get a little irritated.
Ok no more of that nonsense! I still feel I am doing well on the alcohol front. There won't be near as many AF days as last month. (I feel the rebuttal coming on) However I have limited myself to 2 beers and no drinking at home. Since it looks like budgeting and going out to the local pub are now roommates those 2 beer outings will be less frequent which is fine. Just be more AF days in the future!
btw the Master bath is 90% done, kitchen is 95% done and Main bathroom to start on Monday!
hugs and kisses to everyone. I will jump back in and be more consistent once things calm down with my mothers care. she is improving day by day, little by little. She is 886 -
Hi! I'm Robyn.
My goal is 16-19 AF days per month.
I found this group at the end of June. July is my first full month.
Mon 7/25 - Drinks (3) Birthday dinner out
Tue 7/26 - AF
Wed 7/27 - Drinks (3) Out for dinner with friends
Thu 7/28 - Drinks (1) Last date night before heading back from a working vacation. Rode bikes after work, had a delicious Hazify with dinner, and went out for live music. I've stuck pretty close to plan for July so far. I'm planning AF for the rest of July. Three days.... I can do it!4 -

Hello friends, been buried in work and still hanging in...
@dawnbgethealthy lucky you, I am so happy we met and glad you are enjoying time out in your wonderland of nature.
On my end, my husband had an accident mountain biking hitting his head and I am caring for him. Just a big scare with lots of road rash and face injuries but he will be fine.
Challenges we all have, coming at us left and right...with no fair warning. Some days I feel like someone swimming for miles and miles and getting exhausted and going under water and struggling to catch my breath and almost drowning and part of me says don't quit, change...you are worth it.
I do need and welcome a motivation boost. And I hope August, which is around the corner, delivers that for all of us

@globalhiker - Hoping your DH will be right as rain soon. Accidents do happen and I'm just happy when we can walk away from a biking accident!!! Take care of him and yourself.3

An AF evening!
Went to my last Lady Clays summer league shoot (sporting clays). We had a celebration award dinner afterwards at Lasagna House. I was the only one that ordered salad and water but I was good with my decision to not drink wine or eat pasta though I did indulge in garlic bread (another personal challenge especially when they keep bringing baskets). I was gone 4-9:30. Came home and DH was in a mood wanting to move again ... after drinking 2 bottles of wine. Sigh.
Since my mom is in town passing through and staying at my sisters ... she came over for lunch with me. She looks fine but is tired from her roadtrip. I did find out that she fell twice on the trip. Both times putting on her pants and not having something to hold on to (didn't plan ahead and move close to something). This happens at her own home too. I told her that I was worried that one of these days she would hit her head or break a bone again ... not just get bumps and bruises. DH told her she needed to start wearing dresses instead of pants LOL

@Lilylady3k So the whole tipping over when putting pants on thing is something I’m starting to deal with now…..and I’m 45! I’m working on my balance. My mom went through it too but she broke her hip in her 60s and always sits down now but it took her awhile to get used to it. My dad is 75 and I’m not sure what he does. Aging parents is a pretty steep learning curve!4

Wow, it seems like so many on this thread are doing so well! I cannot say I am making the progress I would like and I have a bit of a challenge ahead. I am having some skin surgery next month and the doc's instructions say no alcohol for 7 days. This will be the first time I have had that long of a break in more than a year. That is not a good thing. I am trying to remember how rested I felt last time I took a week off.

@globalhiker sorry to hear about the bike accident! Hope your husband heals quickly.
