Less Alcohol ~ AUGUST 2022 ~ One Day At A Time
Replies

Day two of August down and AF.
Didn't even want an AF beverage yesterday, only water.
Told hubby yesterday going out for lunch and dinners is out of control. The prices of sit in eating is obnoxious.
I went to LUNCH yesterday with a gal pal at a pretty simple spot, nothing fancy. No alcohol drinks for either of us. Sandwiches with fries and a shared app. Big $$$$ 🤯🤬
My friend wants to pick up the tip, since I asked her to lunch and I paid. She throws down a 56% tip. I was horrified. I can see if the waitress had 15-20 tables to wait on all by herself (not the case) and having to bar tend on top of it.
I will be meeting my friend next time at a drive tru and picnicking at an outdoor table in their parking lot for less than $15.00.
Onward and upward LESS ALCOHOL GROUP!!!

This thread has been a game changer for me! I so appreciate every single one of you!
*August goals: 18-20 days AF with no more than 2 drinks in one night
*Stop and think before opening a drink to prevent pouring alcohol down the drain-save some money!
Good luck everyone!
8/1: AF
8/2: AF Had a stressful evening with a toxic person crawling out of the woodwork. Considered a drink but figured it wouldn’t help. Proceeded to doom scroll *sigh*

@MissMay - It is expensive to eat out!
There is one place at home that DH & I often get the exact fast food order each week ... we've seen the price go from $13 around 2 years ago to $18.5. And we are just ordering the junior hamburger, small fries, small drink!3 -
August accountability: 1 days AF
Alcohol: 1 days (2 drinks)
Goal: Limit 1-2 glasses per day; 12-16 AF days per month. Aim to drink no more than 2 nights in a row.
8/1 - AF
8/2 - 2 wine - Wonderful Marrone Barbera D'Alba Carlot (red wine) to go with Lasagna Stuffed Portobellos - Italian Sausage ricotta marinara & mozzarella in a portobello. Really easy to make! Plus a caesar salad to complete the meal.3 -
I'm challenging myself to pull 2 back-to-back AF days. I figured it's easier to do this midweek anyway.
I am using my drinking-less and eating out less savings on beauty products. Just tried out a product called Acure Bakuchiol that I love. It's supposed to be an alternative to retinol. My dry skin is transformed and glowing and my lips so smooth. My face feels like it's 18 years old again.
Figured I am going to reward myself a few times a week since I am saving $$ drinking less and rarely eating out.5 -
Greetings, all. Everyone's August optimism is uplifting.

Hello all you lovelies
Self care today. I treated myself to homemade pizzas for dinner.
I thought I would remind myself when posting to think of one nice thing I did for myself that day, I can do more but just need to post one.
AF today so 2 day
Did some prep work in the main bathroom and hope to paint and put the flooring in tomorrow. I could not today when I realized I need to do some sheet rock repair/clean up from the old vanity and tub. That is ok. After I finish in the am I will go take care of my mom. She was too chilled today for a shower but tomorrow is a must LOL.
@globalhiker what a great idea for self care!
Ok I admit I am a dork when it comes to some things makeup. False eyelashes are one. I have bought them several times only to get mad and stuff them in a drawer until I toss them. so today I thought I would try these little wispy sections and place them on. Well lets say I need more practice and I looked like a crazy drunk racoon vs a mature woman who wanted to leave the house.
Any tips??? Anyone every fuss with the little wispy things?
ok i am off for now4 -

I wanted to go for a walk last night but there was rain and thunder and lightning from 5 to bedtime so I couldn’t get out. Pacing around my apartment didn’t do the trick. Today is a new day! ☀️6 -

Hi, all. Planning AF tonight to have M-Th AF for the first week of the month.
My brother comes into town tomorrow to help me with my dad & his wife, which I appreciate a ton. Of course we will spend time with our mom & her husband, too. Mom's birthday is Sunday. She is in her 4th week of heart failure. Too much going on there to recount here. My brother and I tend to drink a lot when we're around each other. It will be a stressful few days. I'm not sure if the stress will make the drinking better or worse. DH will be road tripping to see his mom on the way to helping DD#3 move into her apartment for the school year. DH is a major instigator so hopefully my brother and I will keep it all on the rails when left to our own devices. Really hoping we meet the challenge, in all the ways.6 -
August accountability: 1 days AF
Alcohol: 3 days (6 drinks)
Goal: Limit 1-2 glasses per day; 12-16 AF days per month. Aim to drink no more than 2 nights in a row.
8/1 - AF
8/2 - 2 wine
8/3 - 3 wine
8/4 - 1 beer @ lunch
Passed on the open 1.5 bottles of wine available to me during dinner and drank sparkling water instead. The old me would have said you blew the day and can’t count it as AF so go ahead and have wine with dinner. But I decided to just be accountable and move on.5 -
A saying came to mind this week as I looked at pics of my granddaughters that my kids sent me ...
and I as I was yet again buying something for the little ones to put away for Christmas
If you raise your children, you can spoil your grandchildren.
But if you spoil your children, you'll have to raise your grandchildren.4 -
I was AF yesterday so succeeded with the no-drinks every other day pattern so far. Agree 1000% with @dawnbgethealthy with experiencing the flatter belly after AF day(s). I am seeing the same and it motivates me.
I failed at 2 days in a row after having another 12 hr workday having 2 drinks. I can relate to the comment about the toxic person, I have one of those scenarios a few times a week. Nothing worse than bullies and work drama. Well, maybe...
How about the family event with the drinking brother or sister. I get you, @ahoy_m8. If you can find the solution, please tell me. Right now, the best I can come up with is limiting extended family events to 2.5 days.
The eyelashes and makeup thing: I've gone bare-naked face most days and am fine with it. I suppose I just got older and don't care. I do think I look younger with less or no makeup at all.

hello everyone
Well DH came home early and it was one of my stressful days. I tried to let it roll and could have but then DH wanted to go get a late lunch/early dinner so we ended up at local pub. I still stick to just 2 beers.
Self Care today. I don't count the beer as self care. ..... It's evening and I don't want any more alcohol after the beer today (that would never happen in the past) So tonight I am going to treat myself to some ice cream.
BTW the last 2 weeks stress has seen a drop in my scale so yeah?
@Lilylady3k your saying is so spot on....so glad I am spoiling my grandchildren!!!4 -

@ahoy_m8
That is great that your brother will be there for support with the parents.
@globalhiker
How is hubby healing up?
And btw, you definitely do not need makeup, you are gorgeous and luminescent.
The eyelash thing...I think that there is some sort of tool to put them on that holds them.
I became very girly starting at 40, so I love makeup and all of that sort of stuff. Before that I didn't care, I was sort of a tomboy.3 -

Hello everyone.
Self care today: A huge humus and veggie plate with toasted bread slices. Tasted so good
Well my contractor guy bailed this weekend to put up my sheet rock in the bathroom, so I had to call the folks that have made the tub surround to schedule me for another day......I am letting this stress just flow like water away from me.
So not af today we did have a beer with that humus plate. For me that is less and I am proud. Last year at this time I was so struggling with just having 1 AF night and would do a happy dance when I had 3 AF days in a row. Skip to this summer and it is like, meh 3-4-5 days AF ok I can do that and do. I really feel proud of this.
Thank you all for the support I would not have believed I could have come this far6 -
AF yesterday and on a Friday night too! Nothing bad happened . Just woke up with energy and a smile.
Since last Saturday, I have 4 AFs in the bank...!
@lmlmrn I have to say you are handling all this remodeling stuff pretty well. It's hard when you live in the house being remodeled. I think you are going at a pretty speedy pace even with the contractor delays. Do show us your photos when done please.
@dawnbgethealthy my husband is almost new again! He's out mountain biking already. His worst scars are in the chin area so his goattee will hopefully cover it up.
@MissMay, I checked out Pensacola on Youtube. You're going to get a lotta sunshine in your life now. And, I see the downtown has an art scene so maybe that is the sight of your future art gallery4 -

8/5: AF Well, work finally broke me, I had a panic attack yesterday morning. Thankfully I have resources I can use. Counting down the days until vacation on 8/15. Being forced into the possibility of looking for new employment which is so, so scary.6 -
Hello everyone!
Boo Hoo my weight went up a bit today.....I am not complaining. I think the salty snack I nibbled on last night may have had something to do with it haha.
@joans1976 hang in there, panic attacks are no fun. I have had my share and it is usually the same triggers. I am glad you have support system.
Today I will be working on putting down the flooring in the main bathroom so the adhesive can dry for 48 hours before my....ahem.....contractor shows up monday morning. Yes I am a bit put out but not the end of the world.
No alcohol planned today and for dinner tonight? Korean pancakes with shrimp, scallions, peppers and egg. yummy dipped in some spicy soy. I am really looking forward to these. Sodium bomb
oh and here is a pretty awful comparison picture of my Master bath that only needs a few tweeks now. please don't judge the chaos I am still organizing
