08/29-196.6-(Trend Weight 199.8)- Wow, what an overnight drop! Water pill yesterday has relieved my ankles. TMI today finally. Very very scary low blood pressures again last night which lead me to pushing water very late in case it was dehydration after the pill. Hardly any sleep, up all night with #1. So I wonder how accurate this weight is due to dehydration. Today is my doctor appoint with family doctor for after- surgery follow-up and glucose A1C check. Son’s appointment also. Appt is local but we may travel afterward, not sure yet. If so, I will definitely try to hang on to as much of this loss as possible.

I can't believe we're almost at the end of this month.
On the 30th of July, I weighed myself and found I was at 142.7 kg (314.59 pounds)
My goals during august are to:
* Measure progress regularly (weight and waist circumference)
* Log food and meet daily food goals each day
* Be more deliberate about exercise, especially little exercises during the work day (I sit at a desk all day)

Aug 1 - 172.2 (Back from vacation and feeling good. August is going to be a great month!)
Aug 2 - 169.6 (Busy first day back to work but stayed positive. Ate well and focused on my step goal.)
Aug 3 - 167.6 (Dentist after work and then I'll hopefully find time for a Peloton ride or another walk, or both!)
Aug 4 - 166.2 (Have stress at work. Afterwards I will decompress with some kind of exercise. Last night I chose to do upper body strength as my exercise of choice and it felt great.)
Aug 5 - 165.8 (Found time to ride the Peloton last night and it felt good. Off to the lake for the weekend as soon as work is done.)
Aug 6 - 164.6 (Nice sunny day here today. I am going to aim for 10,000 steps which will require 1-2 longer walks around our lakeside trailer park. We have a bigger dinner tonight my husband is making for our trailer friends.)
Aug 7 - 165.8 (Yesterday I underperformed on my fitness and food plans so the return to the higher weight is completely expected. Tonight we return from the lake and have supper with friends before heading home.)
Aug 8 - 167 (Yesterday we came back from the lake, walked to and from a friend's house for a pizza supper, and then I did some yoga and strength. A good day.)

Aug 10 - 167.6 (Having some tough days at work and feeling the stress. Had a good day of food and exercise today. One day at a time!)
Aug 11 - 167.4 (Good day so far, haircut after work, had a nice lunchtime walk with my husband. Focusing on what's within my control.)
Aug 12 - 166.8 (Had a lot of exercise today. Gold day overall. I am excited to get to the lake tonight after work. Weather is looking to be quite hot.)
Aug 13 - 164 (Had an unexpected late night due to some concerns with my dog.. she's fine but I definitely slept in this morning. My husband is going for a long bike ride as he's training for a Gran Fondo so the dog and I will be hanging at our trailer. Will try to get her out for a few short walks before it gets too hot.)
Aug 14 - 163.8 (Feels good to see my second day in a row in my maintenance range since I got back from holidays. I planned my food well yesterday and got my 10K steps. My husband leaves from the lake to head north for a business trip this evening so my Mom is coming out for a BBQ and visit and then I'll go back home with her.)
Aug 15 - 165.2 (My husband is away on business so it feels quiet. I plan to walk my dog before work today as it'll be a hot day. Will get my activity off on the right foot!)
Aug 16 - 164.4 (Rode the Peloton last night and did some healthy cooking. Pre-prepped a breakfast
smoothie that was a tasty start to my day. Lots of fibre today!)
Aug 17 - 164.6 (Beautiful sunny day here. Work is busy, one foot in front of the other. Got pulled into an unexpected work meeting and missed my lunch time walk. Tonight I have to get a cavity filled at the dentist and then I'll be able to go out for my walk.)
Aug 18 - 166.8 (Busy day at work as I'm off tomorrow and have lots of meetings. Also have a doctor's appointment at lunch so I'll be walking there and back. Step count should be decent when I get home but I still expect my dog will need a walk unless my husband finds a window to get her out before I get home.)
Aug 19 - 167.8 (Today was truly special. I had the day off and my hot air balloon ride that my husband gifted me on our wedding day finally went ahead. We then went to the mountains and biked 70 KM or so... just had so much fun.)

Aug 21 - 167.8 (Fun day at the lake with a short dog walk and then we returned home and went out to dinner with a friend. Feeling busy for sure.)
Aug 22 - 164.8 (Today was off to a good start and I got a walk in with my dog at lunch but we had an event at work near the end of the day and I ended up putting in a couple extra hours. I have been so busy lately and it's definitely my exercise that's being sacrificed. I don't have any choice as something has to give. Doesn't change my maintenance strategy as I eat my exercise calories so it just means they get pared back accordingly.)
Aug 23 - 164 (Slowly seeing my trend weight come back down. I had two meals out today so I had to be smart about my choices. Work is still busy but I got my 10K steps in. Woot!)
Aug 24 - 163.6 (Love these sections where the weight is slowly dropping down. I have been back in my maintenance range for three days now. I am going on holiday again in just over a week so I'm focused on losing as much as I can before then.)
Aug 25 - 162.6 (Had a big day - an important meeting at work, dim sum for lunch, made supper, lots of walking, a Peloton ride.)

My name is Ian and I am a 62 year old male from the Midlands of the UK. I am 6' 0" tall. I have a number of health conditions which prevent me from doing aerobic exercise and I take medication which as a side effect lowers my metabolic rate and increases my feelings of hunger. I can't walk so use a mobility scooter. As a result my weight loss depends totally on calorie intake reduction.
My initial target is 100kg by the end of October, to move from obese to simply overweight. I would like to get my waist size below 40" too. My calorie intake target to achieve that is 1,200 - 1,300 calories/day.

Yesterday was tough. Worked a silly long shift and ate way under calories. It was time for bed and I was so tired but I still needed to eat 400 calories. I’m aware this is not a healthy, sustainable way to lose weight. I just couldn’t do it, bed won out. Hoping to make up for it today or just move on.

This is my final August post since I'll be traveling. It's been a useful exercise, logging (almost) every day. I learned a few things about my weight: it can fluctuate by 2 pounds on a daily basis, that Thursdays and Saturdays are the best days to approximate weekly weight, and that my weight bumps up 1-2 days after a splurge (pepperoni pizza - water retention from lots of salt?). For goals, I hit the exercise goal. But, looking back on average weight for the past few months, loss was only 0.9 lbs/month, not quite making goal of the 1-2 lbs/month. Having tracked late night snacking, I can see where I need to cut! So all in all, its been a useful challenge!2 -

08/30-200.6-(Trend Weight 199.8)- No water pill yesterday, bloating today and BAM!!! There goes the scale! Clearly it is going to be hard to judge any progress with this every other day pill, but I’ve just got to trust the trend weight and hope the numbers gradually drop, even if they fluctuate from day-to-day. Finally some good health news, my A1C which stood at over 12, then over 11 is now down to 9.7. I know I have a long way to go to get in the 5’s, or even in the 6’s as a Type 2, but that is a major improvement. I was 7 pounds down from my May visit. She was happy to see that but wants more, more, more and so do I.

My name is Ian and I am a 62 year old male from the Midlands of the UK. I am 6' 0" tall. I have a number of health conditions which prevent me from doing aerobic exercise and I take medication which as a side effect lowers my metabolic rate and increases my feelings of hunger. I can't walk so use a mobility scooter. As a result my weight loss depends totally on calorie intake reduction.
My initial target is 100kg by the end of October, to move from obese to simply overweight. I would like to get my waist size below 40" too. My calorie intake target to achieve that is 1,200 - 1,300 calories/day.

Failed to get back on track with carbs yesterday. Grandkids visited and ended up eating crisps (Potato chips) and cheesecake! Today will be a better day. Can’t believe that I’m sticking pretty much to 1,250 calories a day and yet haven’t really lost any weight in past nine days ☹️
But overall 2.7kg (6 lbs.) weight and 1.3% body fat lost so mustn't grumble!

I’ve got my calories and logging under control, my macros somewhat under control, my water intake under control. Now, I want to lower my sodium intake and up my daily step goal! I have a doctors appointment at the end of the month and would like some good news….I know I have a long way to go but I have to get there some time.

Weight lost: 6.9 pounds, goal met weight wise. I’m glad for this but I still really need to work on my steps and/or exercise. I have such a hard time getting much movement in on the days I work. The pool is also closing this coming weekend so I will not have that for exercise outlet. Clearly it is going to be hard to judge any progress with this every other day pill, but I’ve just got to trust the trend weight and hope the numbers gradually drop, even if they fluctuate from day-to-day. Finally some good health news, my A1C which stood at)- No water pill over 12, then over 11 is now down to 9.7. I know I have a long way to go to get in the 5’s, or even in the 6’s as a Type 2, but that is a major improvement. I was 7 pounds down from my May visit. She was happy to see that but wants more, more, more and so do I.
08/31-200.0-(Trend Weight 199.9)- How flirty that teasing old scale was today in regards to that illusive Onederland! Diet was so-so yesterday so I attribute the loss to mainly my water pill. Not fair though, up 4 pounds without it, down 0.6 with it. I know weight can take a few days to present itself, but I’ve been doing pretty good except for the lack of exercise. I did try to walk my cul-de-sac the other day. It is just one house away to the end (although the houses are generously spaced apart), then back around. But it is on a steady incline to start with a downslide back, then up another incline to get up my longish driveway. It’s something I did a LOT last summer. Boy, was it scary. I almost couldn’t get back home. The breathing is WAY WORSE since the surgery. I don’t know what they did in there but it’s horrid. I did tell my personal cardiologist this when I saw her this month. I also told my family doctor, thus the scheduled pulmonary test in Oct. Maybe they should have stented the other two arteries also (that was the original plan). I miss walking but after trying it, I understand why they said “no” until I get cardiac rehab. Total loss this round – 1.6 lbs.

8/1/22-167.2 lbs :-( Elliptical 214 minutes for 14.22 miles
8/2/22-168.6 lbs :-( The extra carbs and sodium show. Elliptical 233 minutes for 16.47 miles.
8/3/22-171.8 lbs :-( Still climbing from the extra carbs and sodium while I was off. Was in the BR almost ever half hour today peeing at work. Hopefully the scale will start back down.
8/4/22-168.4 lbs :-) Heading the right way.
8/5/22-166.8 lbs - Off today did 159 minutes on my Elliptical but then it just stopped, couldn't move it. I'm hoping it just needs some oil. 2 of my sons worked on it. Cleaned and oiled it. Ok right now, hope that was it.
8/6/22-168.2 lbs
8/7/22-167.2 lbs Off today. Did 180 minutes on the Elliptical. Screeched some after 2 hours and then hard to move then eased up for awhile then got stiff again and I stopped. I'm hoping the bearings aren't bad. Found a listing for a place that fixes exercise equipment. Have to call from work and maybe they can come look at it Friday on my day off. Have a family party Saturday and work picnic Sunday. I have put over 2000+ miles on it since 1/3/22. I'm the only one that uses it. I bought it in 2010 for $600-800. The ones comparable to it now are like $1200-1600.

8/9/22-170.2 lbs I talked with the exercise repair guy. He can't come till Tuesday. :-( So I guess I need to do some different exercise.

8/15/22-174.2 lbs :-( Had 2 parties Saturday and Sunday and not having my Elliptical really shows up on the scale! Elliptical repairman comes tomorrow (Tuesday AM). Hopefully it's an easy repair. Got to get back on track or I'll need to go back into my large scrubs, instead of the smalls I've been in since February! Late 10 AM work start today, so had time to update this AM.
8/16/22-176.2 lbs- Elliptical repair man said it would cost $400 to replace the magnetic flywheel, so not worth it. Lubed it up and said I can use it till it goes totally just have to put up with occasional screeching. So shopping for a new one.

8/24/22- 184.4 lbs Not surprised by the uptick, since I was at the conference yesterday.

8/27/22-178.6 lbs I have been off track this summer, enjoying too many carbs. Hopefully I get back on track this fall with less temptations. Even when I stay under my calorie allotment, my body gains with higher carbs, even though I'm under what is considered low carb. My body just doesn't want to burn them and stores them.
