@SummerSkier 😱 After all that.....
🤣😂1 -
Nice job @tarun_yadavA
@shanaber hope you have a nice visit with your daughter. Way to go on getting to the 100 mile club (I know you'll do it)!
Just a so-so run this morning. I have concluded that I am getting really tired of getting up at 4am to run.
But I surpassed the 150 mile mark for the month. That is my highest monthly total ever. And I have a little over 2 months until my marathon, so haven't peaked yet.

@tarun_yadavA beautiful indeed!
@Scott6255 holy chit, Batman, that's a lotta miles!
@yirara well done on keeping at it despite difficult circumstances. Consistency pays off3 -

Worked from home today so I did a short 3 miles run in the neighborhood at lunch. Stopped and talked to some neighbors or I would have run longer. The remnants of Hurricane Ian are supposed to drop heavy rains on us all weekend so no hiking and most likely little if any running. I may be forced to clean my house….
@eleanorhawkins – I would happily run mountains with you if only we were closer!
@tarun_yadavA – Look at you Mr. Spoiler! Next you know, you will be starting the November thread…..
@Scott6255 – Way to channel your inner @AlphaHowls!
We are about to leave Alabama and cross over into Georgia RTWers! Get ready @marisap2010!7 -

@Scott6255 Wow!! That is a lot of miles. So impressive!
@tarun_yadavA I was stunned!
@eleanorhawkins That race course sounds tough to plan for. Having so much elevation on the back end will take some restraint at the beginning. I bet a lot of people go out too fast and suffer through the hills.2 -

That's it for my Sept. I didn't miss any runs but I cut a few a little short and that added up to a few miles. Overall I'm really happy with how training is going so far. I'm sticking to my plan and while my legs are tired leading up to a rest day, that's the point, and I'm able to do what is being asked of me so far.
Went to a park after work for my run. It has a nice crushed granite running trail and loops for miles. Now that it's getting cooler I will be here a lot more when I have to work at this site. It's so nice to have an option that isn't concrete sidewalks.4 -

115.24/100 miles completed for September
It was another beautiful morning for running. I ran 5.5 miles. I have really been enjoying the lower temperatures and the low humidity and dew point. I was hoping to see some deer, but I didn't see any critters today. I did stop to see Lilly the donkey. Her owner came out to let her dogs out. The little one, Coco, came barking at me and grabbed my shoestring, but didn't snap at me or anything. She just yapped at me. The bigger dog just wanted to be petted and the medium dog didn't pay much attention to me at all. I also saw a couple of loose dogs by the park, but they didn't bother me.
I am still behind reading this thread. This week has been really busy and stressful at work. I'm glad for rhe running. Plus, I have been doing my mile a day streak. I haven't decided if I will walk tomorrow or get in a short run. In addition to the mile a day streak this month, my husband and I have been doing a 30 day bedtime yoga challenge. It has been really nice doing yoga together and I hope we will continue with it.

Wait... There's a Strava group too??
My goal for this month... Maybe a more conservative 120 (down from August's 140, which I exceeded with 158.5).
Due a rest day imminently and may take another this month. Also, may just stick to 7k (rather than 9k), just so I don't injured myself or 'pull anything'.
I know we do it monthly here... But my annual goal is 1500 (and I'm currently on 1092, with 4M to go)
My end of September stats... 139.5 (shoulda maybe just gone with 140!)

Also- do we have an October group set-up ?

So I did my 32km run this morning (which RTY tells me equals a very frustrating 19.9 miles). I'll report in a spoiler because we're doing spoilers atm :-pIt was slow, it was tough, I ran 5.5 miles up the river to the hill now known as 'The B@stard', hiked up and jogged down it 15 times, then ran 5 miles back down the river. Well, I had to run-walk-run the last couple of miles because my knees were insulting my mother, but hey ho. It was pretty windy and it was in my face and pushing me sideways on my way up the hill, but at least that stopped it being too hot.
I started out with a 1.5 litre bladder of water in my pack, plus a 0.5 litre bottle of plain water and another 0.5 litre bottle with isotonic powder stuff in it, because I've joined a new online trail and ultra training community and the coach keeps hammering on about carbs carbs carbs and telling us we should be eating more and drinking that stuff as well as water and salt. So, yeah, silly, I took a flask of that. It didn't upset my stomach or anything, but I drank it slowly between the 2 and 3 hour marks and it stopped me wanting the gels I should have had after that, and I didn't finish all my water, either. So, note to self (how come we all know this stuff but still forget or ignore it? I guess that's what training is for though?): STICK TO WHAT YOU KNOW WORKS!
Part of that, of course, like that chocolate pastry I had on a recent run up the mountain, is also because I'm hearing about sponge cakes and candy and stuff at aid stations and I desperately want to be one of those people who can grab yummy stuff at trail race aid stations with no ill effects lol.
So, anyway, I did it, I'm now confident I can complete my race and have hopes that I'll be able to go quicker on fresh legs. Gradual taper starts now, my legs will sure appreciate that!
I can't remember whether I set myself a goal for the month or not, but Garmin tells me I've run 213.3km in September, which I can hardly believe. That is huge for me!
Has anyone seen @quilteryoyo? She seems quiet, I hope she's ok and it's just her internet playing up.
See you all in October :-)

Finished up the month with 94 miles. My goal was 75 miles. This month’s mileage is the most for any month year to date.
@shanaber – Thanks for taking the heat off @tarun_yadavA and setting up October!
@eleanorhawkins – Dang! 15 times? I would say you showed that hill who was boss! Enjoy your well-deserved taper. I’ve seen @quilteryoyo posting on the feed. I think she’s been really busy the past couple of weeks at daycare and another part-time job.
@kgirlhart – Your yoga workouts are so inspiring. I’ve done Yoga with Adriene a couple of times this week and always feel so much better.
@martaindale – Great consistency on your runs. You ran almost every day this month.

Unbelievable @AlphaHowls! 👏👏😳1

@Scott6255 - Wow 150 miles is a LOT! Thanks for the encouragement! I am glad my daughter had plans for the day today so I could get a run in without feeling guilty!
@tarun_yadavA - Great job hitting August's goal while exceeding September's 😁
@kgirlhart - Nice running this month! Glad you were able to visit Lily (still Sunny to me). I'm guessing the dogs don't bother her at all...
@eleanorhawkins - Whoa!! That is an amazing run. I can't imagine going up and down that hill 15 times! You have definitely earned your taper and I am excited for your race! I have found that there is so much information out there about what to eat or not eat or drink during runs that I truly believe each of us has to figure out what works for us and for our bodies. I did read interestingly that our bodies don't absorb plain water easily. It is best to have a bit of sugar and salt along with it, in the form of food, hydration solutions, or even just a bit of maple syrup and a tiny bit of salt added to plain water. They have found that many athletes are dehydrated even though they think they should be ok because they are drinking/sipping water.
@Teresa502 - If you keep running like that you will be joining the 100 mile club! Great job!
@AlphaHowls - what will your next goal be? To the moon and back?
I got in a run yesterday morning, well very much a walk/run that I thought I ran more of than Strava apparently did. Today it is much cooler (YEA!) and I was looking forward to a great run. It didn't start off great though. My legs were leaden and it was such an effort and I seriously considered just doing enough to make goal. I kept going though, telling myself I would turn off the watch and walk home at the next trail entrance, but it was feeling better so we ran to the trail end and then ran home. Made goal with just a little extra to spare. Re: Wildlife... don't think I mentioned that a couple of weeks ago they put up coyote warnings on the trail and around our neighborhood. Sure enough I saw this beautiful 'dog' running towards me on the trail and my 1st thought was who had their dog off leash... until it turned off the trail and dodged under the fence and down towards the river. I wish it would come take care of the skunk that wants to sleep in my garage and the possums that are eating all my fruit and making Hobbes bark.6 -
Hey everyone! I have skimmed through but have been busy for the last week. We flew up to NY yesterday and went to Corning today to pick up my race packet and have lunch. I also took a short run near my in-laws house. Pics in spoiler. I will make sure to post a good report after Sunday’s race.7
-
@marisap2010 I was just coming here to post good luck to you on Wineglass this weekend! My friend headed down there today too, and I saw on facebook my running coach is there too (I guess he's not really my coach anymore but will always hold that title for me). I'm glad you made it and have some time to settle in and relax before Sunday's race. The weather looks good for the race. Cloudy and around 50 degrees in the morning. That's about my ideal race weather. The shirt looks awesome this year! Can't wait to hear your race report! Have an awesome race.
@shanaber I fear I may have a skunk living in or around my garage too. Stella got skunked a few weeks ago and I still smell it sometimes in my garage or outside my bedroom which is at ground level in the back but over the garage. I haven't found anything but I haven't done a thorough investigation - for fear of what I might find. Yeah it would be nice if the coyotes took care of those animals and hopefully not any dogs or cats. I haven't seen one in quite a while but we have them in the woods/state park in my neighborhood too.
@eleanorhawkins congrats on getting to taper time! That 32 km run sounds brutal. Enjoy your well-deserved taper and you will be ready with fresh legs!
Sorry not to reply to everyone. Great job keeping on, all.
I have very little to report for this week. Busy at work. I've been doing PT for my shoulder and that is already helping. The ortho doc says it's shoulder impingement syndrome, which is a better answer than torn rotator cuff. He says that it is really aggravated by pushing exercises like bench press and push-ups and that makes a lot of sense with why it was getting worse, or continually getting irritated with my strength training. I was so happy with a new PR in bench pressing a few weeks ago, and that was probably not a good thing to have done (of course I remember some pain but you know, no pain no gan and all that).
I had a minor medical procedure today so I'm out from running for the weekend. Which is too bad because as I mentioned to marisa above, the weather should be great for running. I'll have to enjoy it other ways.
I'm not totalling up September, I never filled out my spreadsheet at all. Kind of freeing. We'll see, but I hope October will be a little more consistent and we'll have some more nice fall running days .5 -
@marisap2010 - Good Luck with the race! I love that shirt/jacket!
@katharmonic - So happy to see your update and that your shoulder is improving! Oh and also that it isn't a torn rotator cuff!
I caught our skunk one night trying to get into the metal dog food container and coerced him/her out of the garage with a few bits of kibble but then we discovered that it was sleeping during the day behind our dryer. I keep looking cautiously whenever I go out there but we have blocked the area where we think it was coming in.1 -
@AlphaHowls - what will your next goal be? To the moon and back?
ahahahahahahahahaha
I actually thought about it, until I looked the mileage up:
