Have you thought about taking your own food for one of the trips and eating at a restaurant the other, thereby helping you stay more in control for the week?

@musicsax No that would not work. I never travel alone and I'm sure those who go with me would not like a packed lunch. Every single one likes the restaurants too since they, also, are from the small rural town. It is a treat for all who live here. Besides, I really do have to learn to make good choices for the rest of my life. Not just for weight, but because I am diabetic. This will give me lots of practice that I think I really need. I don't expect to be perfect from day one, but I do expect to improve. I really need to shift my way of thinking and not make the main focus the taste of food, but rather what it does for me and my health. Quite the same way you have opted to put walking on a regular basis into your life. It truly is a lifestyle thing. I'm flunking right now, but I plan on studying for this test and passing with good grades sooner rather than later. Ah....the best laid plans of mice and men!

    Day/Weight/Comment

    12/03 - 178.4 🥤🧘🏻‍♀️
Ok, I hit half my goals yesterday. Better than nuttin’! I’m off to a women’s holiday art fair this morning. It’s always a fun event with lots of beautiful things, and I always run into lots of friends there. I’m hoping to find something for a hard-to-buy-for friend — wish me luck!

    12/04 - 178.6 🥤🧘🏻‍♀️
We ordered out for lunch and it was salty. I drank lots of water, but still feel puffy, so am pushing extra water today. It’s very cold out —19F, feels like 9 — so I’m pretty much hunkered down. I had a great time at the art fair yesterday and came home with a few things, including a lovely ceramic serving plate for my hard-to-buy-for friend. Whew! As always, I ran into lots of friends there.

    12/05 - 177.8 🥙🥤
Ok, movement in the right direction.

    12/06 - 176.8 🥙🥤🧘🏻‍♀️
Yes! This may be exaggerated as yesterday I had no lunch and vegetarian chili for dinner, so calories were very low, but I’ll take it!

    12/07 - 177.6 🥙🥤⏰🧘🏻‍♀️
That’s more realistic than yesterday’s weight, but still the right direction. I managed not to snack last night — yay! DH wants Welsh rarebit (calories & cheesy fat!) for dinner, so I’m going very low the rest of the day. I do love the sharp cheddar in the rarebit!

    12/08 - 177.2
Very happy with this, since I did indulge in a bit of comfort food last night. It’s ok, today is planned, and I started with one of my fav breakfasts—1 egg over easy on a dry slice of Dave’s Killer Bread Good Seed Thin. Yummy, healthy, and hold me for hours. I’m picking up carry out Panera (half salad for me) for lunch at a friend’s house.

Now that the reno is mainly done, I don’t have people here everyday, and I’m fully decorated for Christmas, I think maybe boredom has set in? Especially in the evening when all my household work is all done. I think I need to start a new book or something. NOT SNACK. No bloat today, good TMI and good meal choices helped facilitate this drop. But my habits need to go back to very good, not just good. Good is not good enough when I still have 50 pounds to lose!

12/08 -196.6- (Trend weight 197.8) A nice whoosh as I took the meds and lost the bloat. However, today and tomorrow are travel, no meds, lots of sitting etc. This weekend will be working off any gains from Thur & Fri. Did someone say yo-yo?

@RockinRobyn672 I love IF but need to get back to periodic EF. It amazes me how at hour 22 I think I’ll die if I don’t eat but at and after hour 24 I don’t care about food. I admit I am a novice with this since my DH doesn’t do more than IF. I do EF when I know he’s taking our blind friend to lunch. That’s not happening for about 4 more weeks due to shoulder replacement 2 days ago,

12/3 123.5 DH took neighbor to a local bakery yesterday and came home with a loaf of sourdough and 2 enormous pastries! URGGGGG
12/4 124.0 I have no WON’T POWER!! As in I WON’T eat that huge pastry. Had small Greek salad with steak. Ate 3 pieces of steak and saved 3 for today. Making a rotisserie chicken this afternoon.
12/5 124.5 Getting frustrated with trying to get the Fitbit app on my iPad. I’m walking ore steps than usual-almost 3 times what I was doing. Probably not drinking enough water. DH has surgery tomorrow so I may be late checking in or forget entirely.🤷‍♀️
12/6 127.0!!!! We arrived at the surgical center at 5:11AM UGH I had a Margarita yesterday and enjoyed all of the salt! I’m tired, have to catch up tomorrow-reading from top of page 4.
12/7 126.5 yesterday I found myself waiting to hear my husband come in and say I’m home and then I realized he’s not home. He’s at the hospital until sometime today. I’m waiting to hear from him so I can pick him up. There must be something going on at the surgical center, because they had him use the antiseptic wash and wipes the night before surgery and did wipes again yesterday at the hospital and they put him on an anabiotic after the surgery, which they didn’t do before. Trying to get my head together doing a 25 day tracking challenge on Senza. I’ve been way over on carbs and calories so the gain is expected but doesn’t make me happy.
12/8 125.5 Yesterday was a good day dietarily. I know I haven’t been drinking enough water since it cooled off here so made a conscious effort to get more. DH is home and in much better shape than last time. He can speak in intelligible sentences. Only taking naproxen for pain.

@RockinRobyn672 oh that looks so nice to be able to track fasts on MFP. I wish it weren't a premium feature!

@quiltingjaine What is EF? Right now, I'm doing the 12 hour intermittent fasting and using MFP to help track, i.e. trying to stop eating after 8 PM and holding off on breakfast until until after 8 AM. This is pretty easy, right? Just sleep through most of it!

For DH's bday, we had an amazing dinner at a nearby "Euro" restaurant that we haven't been to before. I ordered tuna and it came with lots of delicious vegies. We will go back! I also had control and was able to limit myself to two glasses of wine. I posted this on another thread, but I think I'm going to love the new intermittent fasting feature that MFP just added. Last night it helped me skip the additional drink and snacking when back at home.

~ Good day. Hubby made pork tenderloin while I worked. I made brussel sprouts and bacon on the side, while he made his carb-y sides. Pretty good meal overall and have prepared the rest for lunch tomorrow. Only ate when I was hungry

      ~ I didn’t drink half the water I usually drink;
~ I went a little crazy with snacking later at night all by myself. I think I was doing a little emotional eating and covered up some sadness that I didn’t and don’t want(or know how) to deal with right now. BUT: Today will be a better day!

~ Fought off my hungry alter ego monster for the last 10 days. Hopefully I won’t have too many more plans during this next round! Remember: don’t stop reading affirmations and meditating.
      ~ Ready as I’ll ever be!!💪

    64 yr young F, 5ft 4 Round 207 (my 139th). As always, thank you. @QuiltingJaine.

Goal for this round, same as last, is to lose a pound.. No binges, keep within calories & macros.

Achieved goal weigh of 125lb in summer 2016 by losing 66lb and then gradually gained between 7 and 11 since then & didn't want to gain any more, It's took me 75 rounds to achieve my under 130 target; back to maintenance again!! But then I crept up again, so need to get back under 130. Healthy life style has to be a permanent way of life.

    12/2 135.4 – 4.77 miles. A loss of 0.2 pounds – it's a loss!!

    SW: 136
    Day/Weight/Comment
    12/3 136 – 4.03 miles walked.
12/4 136 – 3.36 miles walked around an advent trail with DGC, the very slow steps holding 18 month old hand whilst she walked didn't actually count the steps, but at that pace I'm barely burning any calories anyway & the experience & delight was much more enriching !!!
12/5 135.4 – back to end of last round weight. 14.68 miles walked, it was cold: 4 degrees C, but brisk walking kept us just about ok !!
    12/6 135.4 – 9.62 miles walked.
    12/7 135.8 – 7.46 miles walked.
12/8 134 – lovely woosh !! 11.75 miles walked yesterday. WW trial ceased, it has given me a boost and refocused my mind, back to counting calories from today, would like to lose another pound or so before the big day.
12/9 134 – 10.13 miles walked. Pleased this number stuck, but a challenging weekend ahead: caravan club Christmas weekend, festivities start tonight!

THERE ARE NO QUICK FIXES OR SHORTCUTS to achieving permanent change.
REMINDERS: One or two thoughts which might give heart to some of you.
    • Daily weight fluctuations are normal, and can be as much as 2 lbs a day for no apparent reason.
    • A general downward trend is what we are looking for.
    • Eating out can cause apparent weight gain because of high sodium levels, but usually goes quickly. Drinking extra water helps with this.
    • The human body does not react instantly to what we do to it. Sometimes it can take several days to see results.
    • Plateaus are a normal part of the process. The body is consolidating and adapting to your new way of eating/exercising.
    • The closer you get to your goal weight, the more difficult it becomes to lose weight, as your body becomes more efficient at using what you feed it.
    • When you exercise you build muscle, which takes up less space than fat, so use measurements as well as weight to assess your progress.
    • Getting/Staying fit and healthy requires a lifestyle change for most people.
    Stick with the process. It
DOES work! But it does take time, effort, and most of all, patience!
