Whoa! I like this sheet! At first I could not get it because it wanted me to buy the subscription to use excel. I was able to copy it and open on Google sheets!

@AlphaHowls - do you have a google account? I was able to access it without downloading it but downloaded it so I could save it.
@SummerSkier - is the calorie input calories consumed or estimated calories burned?
Got Hobbes out for a snow walk. At first he was a bit confused by the snow but quickly seemed to decide he liked it especially when he realized he could eat it. When we got to the park there were so many pups out and he really wanted to go and play. We stuck to the paths and grass since they weren't slippery. The roads were very packed with snow and extremely slick. Made me want to try sliding on them like we did when I was a kid 😊
I eventually did let Hobbes off leash and he ran and ran like a crazy boy. So fun to watch him. I wish I had taken some pictures of him playing. I did think it. was interesting that there was so much more snow on the roads and paths than on the grass. There were several people out running too. I'm not confident enough of my footing to run in the snow. Maybe in trail shoes.5 -
This is calories in and weight. It takes about 6 weeks of data to come up with your est tdee. The only thing is that you have to be pretty consistent in your workouts over the week because it doesn’t take activity into account.3

Did a slow 3.25 miles outside after church.

Dec total: 25/150 miles
12/1: 3 miles
12/2: 8 miles
12/3: 7 miles
12/4: 7 miles
Did an alternating 0.5 mile walk-run again today. It was 50F and drizzled the entire time. It felt a lot colder and I was underdressed. The first few runs were too fast because of the cold, almost like an intervals workout. I reigned it in a bit and ended up an average pace similar to yesterday’s. It was so nice to get a hot shower! Going to add on a couple miles tomorrow since things have been going well. I am slowly working the mileage up, doing some runs as written and shortening those that are still too much. I hope to get 1 more long run in before race weekend. It should have been this coming Saturday but I am aiming for the following weekend then I’ll just do the taper as written.7 -
December Goal: 100 Miles
12/1: 5.26 miles
12/3: 11.01 miles
16.27/100 miles completed for December
Today's run started off cool and drizzly. It was 46°F feels like 43° with a light drizzle when I left the house. I was a little chilly in shorts, a t-shirt and sleeves and gloves. But it never really rained and the drizzle cleared up. It stayed mostly cloudy, but it did end up at 54°F at the end of the run and by about 4 miles I had put my gloves and sleeves in my pockets. I kind of wasn't feeling it at first, but as I ran I settled in and it ended up being a good run and I ended up with 11 miles.

Thanks @SummerSkier . So far, so good still as far as symptoms go. (Knock on wood.) You are doing great with your running. I'm glad the one handed backhand in tennis is helping your back.
@Mari33a Glad to see you back and hear that your son is almost recovered. I know that has to be a relief.
@shanaber Your elbow mishap sounds exactly like mine - which was in 1994 while still in the AF. I was ice skating with a "Little Sister." Was volunteering for the Big Brother/Big Sister program. I never ice skated, so that probably was not the smartest activity to take her too. LOL It's nice that you can take your time to get home and be safe. Lovely pictures of the snow and Hobbes. Glad he decided he enjoyed the snow.
Nice taper run @Scott6255 .
@martaindale I'm glad the running/walking schedule you have is working for you. I hope your Achilles continues to cooperate!
I had a little extra time before lunch again today, so did a bit longer than my normal Sunday session on the treadmill. I walked a total of 1 mile for warm up and cool down and then ran/walked for 3/2 minutes at 4.7-5.2/3.8 mph . Average pace was 13:20 min/mile. Avg HR was 119 bpm and max was 139 bpm.
I'm trying to figure out how to eat/schedule things for Saturday's race. They close the gate to the base at 6:30 am (it opens at 4:30 am). I think my hotel is only about 10 min from the gate, with no traffic. Since this is a big race, I foresee it being really backed up. I'm thinking that I will try to get up around 3:30, have some coffee and microwave oatmeal, take care of Tippy, get dressed, and be able to leave the hotel by 5 am. Hopefully, that will give me plenty of time. But, I'm concerned that all of my oatmeal will be used up by the time the race starts. I will take a banana with me to have closer to race time and some chews or something in case I get hungry during the race. For those of you who have run in large races before, does that sound reasonable? I'm sure it will be a learning experience for me. I know someone had suggested that I do a test run of the schedule before going, but I just haven't had a day when that seemed like a reasonable thing to do. I'm sure I will wish I had of done that come Sat morning/afternoon.
There is one thing that I am a bit disappointed in, but totally understand. They are starting the awards ceremony at 9 am. I know if you are a fast running, you don't want to have to wait around for us slow pokes to get there, but I would love to see it. Too bad I'll probably be about 4.5 miles away from the finish at that time.6 -
@SummerSkier I counted all of my miles, walking, running and steps for 2021 and 2022. Ir is still a challenge for me. Last year I made it a little past 2021 and so far thus year I am at 1947. I should be able to reach 2022. For me trying to get that much mileage solely running would be over-reaching and I am afraid I would end up injured ir burned out. This way it us challenging but still fun.
Beautiful photos @shanaber !2 -
@quilteryoyo your morning eating schedule sounds valid. That is pretty much what I am going to do.2

I have done the same in past years, walking, running and steps, and found it plenty. This year I left steps off and am around 1435 miles atm. Also @SummerSkier we usually have teams! I read next year they're doing both team and individual counters so I'll be seeing if it'll let me just put running miles towards a team count but everything towards my individual one, if that works it will be cool.
@quilteryoyo sounds a solid plan. A handful of chews or jelly babies in a pocket just in case you need a little extra oomph for the end. I also really hate the way they do the awards before those of us at the back are finished! After spending all summer thinking about ringing the bell at the finish line of my big race in October while I was training, they were handing out trophies when I finished so the photographer was covering that, so I didn't get a finish line/bell picture. That was disappointing.4 -
Morning everyone! 😊
@SummerSkier awww thanks for checking-in.
I had an enforced slob day yesterday. Ravenously hungry, ate cr*p but unable to do any meaningful exercise save for a walk!
There has been a lot of lying in bed and watching The Office re-runs and World cup⚽ over the last 48 hours! Lol
Back on it today. Still pretty stiff though!
Today's 4. (29 done; 123 to go... )4 -
@quilteryoyo That’s what I do. Breakfast 1.5-2 hrs before then something small like a banana or granola bar beforehand. I usually try to plan my in race fueling around where the aid stations are so I don’t have to carry water.2

I woke up this morning and it was snowing! We don’t have snow all too often so I wanted to enjoy it for as long as I could and went on a nice 16 km run , as it wasn’t falling down too hard. I only slipped and fell once when I was at my turn around point (I cut the corner) and I also took a moment to snap a picture. It was a great morning!
So that leaves me with 120 km to go.11 -
Thanks @Scott6255 . That makes me feel better.
Thanks @eleanorhawkins . I remembered you saying that about not getting the finish line picture when I read that they were starting the awards at 9. I hope they will have the photographer there at least. I guess we'll see.
Great recovery run @tarun_yadavA ! Hopefully the legs will feel better tomorrow.
Thanks @martaindale .
Beautiful @Laurz9191 ! Wonderful run too. I remember my best run I think I ever had was in the snow many many years ago. So much fun if it isn't too cold.

Wow. That's so picturesque... Where are you from?

For those of us back of the pack people who miss the awards and photo ops you might consider if you have your phone with you asking someone to snap a picture with your phone. No not a professional picture at least it is something to have to look at later.
@quilteryoyo - I responded on your newsfeed post that your fueling plan definitely sounds reasonable and I have done something similar. As an option if you wanted to eat a bit later you could take the oatmeal with you and eat it once you get there (disposable container). Also is it possible there is a shuttle to take people into the race so you don't have to drive? Or are you close enough that you could walk there as a warmup? Then you could leave a bit later.
Great picture of the snow @Laurz9191. Looks like you got quite a lot more than I did yesterday. Same question as @tarun_yadavA, where are you located?
No run for me today we are heading off on our first leg home...4 -
Really beautiful picture @Laurz9191! Nice to look at, but I wouldn't run in that. You are tougher than me!
Way to get back out there @tarun_yadavA! I'm sure it was tough to get off the couch!
Rest day for me today, but wanted to wish my birthday twin @shanaber a Happy Birthday! 🎂 Safe travels!4 -

12/2: 8 miles
12/3: 7 miles

12/5: 9 miles
I overcorrected after being too cold yesterday and ended up being overdressed today. The run went well, no pain, but I could tell my legs were a bit tired after several runs in a row and the 2nd day on the hills.5 -
Thanks @Scott6255! Happy Birthday to you (and your brother!) too. Guess that makes us birthday triplets! 😁
I will have to get my birthday miles in later this week though since we are driving home for a couple of days.4 -
Happy birthday, @Scott6255 and @shanaber!!!!3

@shanaber and @tarun_yadavA
I’m from Southern California, but have been living in central Germany since 2004 .
@Scott6255 Snow is not bad to run in on a trail. As long as there is not slippery asphalt under it, it’s easier than sand. Everything looks so different with snow, that’s why I like it.
@quilteryoyo I know what you mean. My best runs are snow runs. I think this is only my third one ever. We’ll see what this winter has to offer… there may be more fun to be had yet .6 -
10/70 mile goal
Worked today and was tired and hungry when I got home, so just walked one mile on the treadmill. I'll call it a rest/taper day.
Thanks @shanaber . I saw your response on the newsfeed and responded there. Too far to walk and have to take a shuttle from the parking area to the start line. I'm likely going look like a deer in the headlights. I'll just go along with the crowd and hopefully get to where I'm supposed to be on time. LOL Be safe on your trip home!
Happy Birthday @Scott6255 and @shanaber !
@Laurz9191 I'm horrible with geography and knowing climates in different places. I'm surprised you don't get a lot of snow in central Germany though...and that picture just looks like it is the start of a lot more to come.2 -
@Scott6255 - sounds like we could have an awesome birthday party!
@Laurz9191 - I suspect the weather and scenery in central Germany is nicer than most areas oof So Cal (where I live now).
Thanks @quilteryoyo and @Tramboman for the birthday wishes! It has been a good day!
Driving east to Salt Lake City ended up being the right call for us to get home. While our normal route south to Reno was a mess we had perfect road conditions until 5 miles from our hotel in Utah. It started raining and then snowing, big wet heavy snow but so beautiful. Hoping we can get out ok in the morning and should be able to get home easily but with another long drive.5 -
December Goal: 100 Miles
12/1: 5.26 miles
12/4: 11.01 miles
12/5: 5.15 miles
21.42/100 miles completed for December
When I got up this morning it was 59°F and the forecast is calling for rain/thunderstorms on Wednesday morning. So instead of taking today as a rest day I ran 5 miles and I will plan Wednesday as a rest day. We probably won't get rain now.
Happy Birthday @shanaber and @scott6255!

@shanaber @Scott6255 Happy birthday to you both!!!!
Hope you both had a lovely day... !!!
@shanaber - hope you had a nice time visiting your home state!
@Laurz9191 nice to meet you! I'm in London. No snow here yet! (Think Scotland due to get some soon but we should be okay down here!)4 -
Morning all
Today's 5 done4 -
@shanaber Sounds like you made a great choice on your route home. That snow is beautiful!
Good call @kgirlhart , even if it doesn't storm tomorrow. We have to go with the information we have available.
Glad your recovery is going well @tarun_yadavA !

Dec total: 40/150 miles
12/1: 3 miles
12/2: 8 miles
12/3: 7 miles
12/4: 7 miles
12/5: 9 miles
12/6: 6 miles
I was running tight on time, so I tried out the run 1 mile, walk 0.5 mile today. My legs were tired after the 2 days on the hills and my previous 6 consecutive days of running. I ended up cutting the run a little short because I got a tiny bit of tightness in my right calf. Honestly, so little I probably wouldn’t have thought anything of it a few weeks ago. But, I was seeing the sports medicine guy today and I knew he would probably tell me not to push it, which he did. He 100% made a face at me when I told him I had run 7 days in a row. But, my left calf was soft and he worked out a couple of knots in the left one and gave me a glute exercise to mix in with the heel drops. Overall, he seems pleased with where I am and said to keep working the mileage back up. Headed back in next week to see where we stand. I’ll probably keep going weekly until I am past Dopey then I’ll get on a more as needed schedule. But, I want to keep things as loose as possible for the next few weeks.7
