Happy birthday, @Scott6255 and @shanaber!!!!3

@shanaber and @tarun_yadavA
I’m from Southern California, but have been living in central Germany since 2004 .
@Scott6255 Snow is not bad to run in on a trail. As long as there is not slippery asphalt under it, it’s easier than sand. Everything looks so different with snow, that’s why I like it.
@quilteryoyo I know what you mean. My best runs are snow runs. I think this is only my third one ever. We’ll see what this winter has to offer… there may be more fun to be had yet .6 -
10/70 mile goal
Worked today and was tired and hungry when I got home, so just walked one mile on the treadmill. I'll call it a rest/taper day.
Thanks @shanaber . I saw your response on the newsfeed and responded there. Too far to walk and have to take a shuttle from the parking area to the start line. I'm likely going look like a deer in the headlights. I'll just go along with the crowd and hopefully get to where I'm supposed to be on time. LOL Be safe on your trip home!
Happy Birthday @Scott6255 and @shanaber !
@Laurz9191 I'm horrible with geography and knowing climates in different places. I'm surprised you don't get a lot of snow in central Germany though...and that picture just looks like it is the start of a lot more to come.2 -
@Scott6255 - sounds like we could have an awesome birthday party!
@Laurz9191 - I suspect the weather and scenery in central Germany is nicer than most areas oof So Cal (where I live now).
Thanks @quilteryoyo and @Tramboman for the birthday wishes! It has been a good day!
Driving east to Salt Lake City ended up being the right call for us to get home. While our normal route south to Reno was a mess we had perfect road conditions until 5 miles from our hotel in Utah. It started raining and then snowing, big wet heavy snow but so beautiful. Hoping we can get out ok in the morning and should be able to get home easily but with another long drive.5 -
December Goal: 100 Miles
12/1: 5.26 miles
12/4: 11.01 miles
12/5: 5.15 miles
21.42/100 miles completed for December
When I got up this morning it was 59°F and the forecast is calling for rain/thunderstorms on Wednesday morning. So instead of taking today as a rest day I ran 5 miles and I will plan Wednesday as a rest day. We probably won't get rain now.
Happy Birthday @shanaber and @scott6255!

Hope you both had a lovely day... !!!
@shanaber - hope you had a nice time visiting your home state!
@Laurz9191 nice to meet you! I'm in London. No snow here yet! (Think Scotland due to get some soon but we should be okay down here!)4 -

@shanaber Sounds like you made a great choice on your route home. That snow is beautiful!
Good call @kgirlhart , even if it doesn't storm tomorrow. We have to go with the information we have available.
Glad your recovery is going well @tarun_yadavA !

Dec total: 40/150 miles
12/1: 3 miles
12/2: 8 miles
12/3: 7 miles
12/4: 7 miles
12/5: 9 miles
12/6: 6 miles
I was running tight on time, so I tried out the run 1 mile, walk 0.5 mile today. My legs were tired after the 2 days on the hills and my previous 6 consecutive days of running. I ended up cutting the run a little short because I got a tiny bit of tightness in my right calf. Honestly, so little I probably wouldn’t have thought anything of it a few weeks ago. But, I was seeing the sports medicine guy today and I knew he would probably tell me not to push it, which he did. He 100% made a face at me when I told him I had run 7 days in a row. But, my left calf was soft and he worked out a couple of knots in the left one and gave me a glute exercise to mix in with the heel drops. Overall, he seems pleased with where I am and said to keep working the mileage back up. Headed back in next week to see where we stand. I’ll probably keep going weekly until I am past Dopey then I’ll get on a more as needed schedule. But, I want to keep things as loose as possible for the next few weeks.7 -

11.0/70 mile goal
I slept really good last night, but haven't felt the best today. Had some tummy issues early on and been tired and felt sort of feverish. I have taken my temperature a hundred times to make sure that I'm not contagious to anyone. I've been worried all day that I am getting the flu....this is day 4 post exposure. But, I'm feeling better tonight than I have all day. All I ask is that if I am going to to get it this week, that I get it tonight so that I can cancel everything and not be on the road sick. I am almost packed and ready to go. Just the last minute things I will need to pack in the morning.
Since I was tired and achy, I just walked a mile on the treadmill this afternoon. I had intended to run, but that will have to wait for another day.
@martaindale Sounds like you are doing great! Glad the sports medicine guy is helping you.
Nice treadmill run @Scott6255 .7 -
@quilteryoyo sounds (and I'm praying for you that it is) like a textbook case of the pre-race lurgy (aka taper fever)! I have probably had that a few days before pretty much every race that was more than just a 'fun run', and I know @polskagirl01 has often had the same thing happen. It's like our minds and nerves make our body play games with us!5
-
@quilteryoyo yep I agree with @eleanorhawkins (only because I am feeling the exact same right now)!4

Traveling to Galway 2moro for a long weekend break. Hoping to get a run in before we leave, there's snow showers forecast so we'll see. Sometimes the weather isn't as bad as forecast. Dakota is loving getting back on the road, he turned 2 on 1st Dec and I can feel him a lot stronger since the summer - great for the hills
04/12 2.37 miles
07/12/2.38 miles
Total 4.75 miles
Happy Birthday @Scott6255 and @shanaber5 -
Yesterday I decided to do a fast 11k - mostly because I was pretty cold, despite all the various layers I had on, bringing my total to 122 left. I didn’t want to push my knees too much and overtrain today, so I decided to head for the gym and spent an hour + warmup on the rowing machine for some cross training. That really kicked my butt mentally, but I’m glad I did it to build overall strength. I used to row in college and it’s a really good full body workout, but a lot more monotonous than running and you just watch the seconds ever so slowly counting down…
@martaindale I actually looked up what the Dopey is, as I have never heard of it before and was very curious. That sounds like an awesome and fun adventure. Good luck continuing with your tapering!
Also happy belated birthdays to @shanaber and @Scott6255 !
@tarun_yadavA Nice to meet you too! I’m so glad to be joining this running group/challenge/thread or whatever the official term is for it . I almost always run alone, so it’s nice to actually be able to talk with other people about running .9 -
4 treadmill miles this evening.
4 days to go...😧

Thanks for all the birthday wishes!!
@scott6255 - you've got this! All the training, preparation, long runs, etc. will get you to the finish line!
After 9 hours driving yesterday I am getting right back into my regular workout (and eating) routine since we are home at least through the new year. So I got out for a run and really thought it would feel so much warmer at home for the run vs the cold in Idaho. The sun was out with some clouds and the wind was cold. It seemed like I got sweaty from the sun being out but then when the sun went behind the clouds and the wind kicked up it felt so cold.7 -
December Goal: 100 Miles
12/1: 5.26 miles
12/4: 11.01 miles
12/5: 5.15 miles
12/6: 5.26 miles
26.68/100 miles completed for December
I was too tired to post last night. I ran 5 miles yesterday. It was an uneventful run, but nice. It was 63°F. This morning it was raining a little so I just did a nice long yoga practice. I know a lot you like to run in the rain, but I prefer not to. Especially when it is dark outside. We didn't really get much rain, but I was still glad I ran on Monday when the weather was nicer.
@quilteryoyo and @Scott6255 I hope you both feel better and have great races this weekend.
