VICKI ~ Your son and his son sound like jewels! I know you are so proud of them.
Yard Work/House Work: I mowed, trimmed; planted trees, flowers, and sod; fertilized and did whatever needed to be done for years. Inside I painted every wall in the both houses, stripped wall paper, put up wall paper, refinished furniture, etc. And, you know what, I truly miss being able to do those things. Sometimes it really sucks getting old with a body that can't do what it used to do.

Oof! I had a tough ride today. My usual horse Henry had his stifles injected, whatever that means. Sounds like cortisone for old joints. Anyway, I rode Major, who 1) has a problem urinating, and 2) has learned how to get out of work by faking. So I spent a lot of time up on my knees waiting to see if he would go or not, and now my legs are sore.
I have twenty minutes to rest before I have to think of something for dinner for my parents. Maybe crab patties, that would be easy. I might have a tilapia filet, or I might skip it. And then dumbbells later tonight.

Still catching up, not sure if it is the cold weather but I am having a hard time getting motivated. I blink and the day has gone. Feel like a sloth doing everything in slow motion. Roll on Spring!
Take care

Went to the dentist today to get my final fitting before my partial is done. I will be writing a review on them later today. I looked over my goals for 2023, and I am on track so far this month. Happy about that and I’m feeling physically better because of it. I’m in a positive mood concerning this and will continue. I’m doing 10 minutes of yoga 3 times a week, weights 2 times a week, and a minimum of 7,000 steps daily. Yesterday I did both yoga and weights and walked 10,000 steps to beat!!

OH Lanette, that's so sad, but it happens so often. We've been there too, with friends too many times. The heart does crazy things to the body. Mom's heart surgeon told us that too. And any time your under anesthesia, you have to be so careful afterward.
Tracey, I'm so sorry. Sending love and prayers. Have a safe trip.
OMG, Margaret, you're so right, this gray is driving me nutz! I'm a salty carbs-kid. So, what does Freddy bring home? Chips and chips and chips!!! ARGH! And dip. SMH. I'm not home to give anything to our mailperson and we don't get our mail regularly, sooooo... but I do take extra stuff to school, so I can get rid of it with the kids and staff.
Oh gosh I needed that Miles Smile today! Thanks Allie!

Tracey: my heart goes out to you.🙏
My foster family had a 40- acre farm. Two acres were planted with strawberries, and people could come pick their own. On Saturdays John would load the truck and sell at the Farmer’s Market on the Square. Jan would make and can strawberry jam.
My intentions for fitness, to start as soon as I shake this respiratory crap:
🔹stretch for 10 minutes in the morning (this I can start tomorrow)
🔹walk for 30 minutes M-W-F
Once I’m comfortable with 3x/week I’ll move up to five.

Nice peaceful day, I so love docs who are willing to do phone appointments. So much less hassle, and bluntly, I don't need to be around sick people. Having an autoimmune disease was not on my bucket list, and with all the respiratory bugs wandering around right now, staying home makes more sense. For now, anyway.
Cooking stuff:I have a cabbage roll dish brewing in the Instant Pot, using it as a slow cooker. If the rice hasn't got done by the time Corey gets home and is ready for dinner, five minutes on pressure should take care of it. Used like three different recipes for cabbage roll casseroles and picked out what made sense for the slow cooker.
There's no actual rolling done for this dish, it has sliced-up cabbage, beef broth, tomato sauce, browned ground beef, rice and onions. I do pulverize the onions--like Carol, I cannot stand cutting them and I purely cannot stand biting into one. Makes me all kinds of urky, so I take them down very small in the mini-food processor. I like the taste of them, it's just the texture I hate.
I've learned to either keep onions in large pieces I can pick out or make them small enough to ignore. Added the usual suspects spice-wise, salt, pepper, ground mustard, a little cayenne for Corey and smoked paprika. Love the broth. Might actually eat some of this dish. Maybe. Might have to make myself something with more protein, like shrimp. Or do both, in the end.
I forgot that I actually love cooking, but only when I can take my time and try a few different things from the recipes, like the smoked paprika. I even like making things I won't eat, because I know Corey loves them, like meatloaf.
Ah, there goes the gate alarm, and a pickup just drove up in the carport.
Thinking of all of you who are in pain or grieving,
Much love,
Lisa in AR

Did Firm’s Maximum Cardio Burn DVD then went to BK to peel and slice the onions then WalMart for a few things. At this WM the price of bananas went up to 57 cents so since I knew that I had to go to the other WM, I decided I’d look at their price. Went to the other WM and the bananas were 26 cents/lb so I bought some to freeze and some for Vince to have. Then Vince took his car to be repaired so I went to pick him up. Going to go to the library to get the battery holders Vince had 3D made, maybe the post office, then hopefully to prebowl. Update: did all that
Tracey – my deepest sympathies to you and Roger. Have a safe trip
Vince thought my going to BK would be awkward today, but it wasn’t. Jerry was as nice as could be. He told me that Brian took him home yesterday and he was very nice to me. I’m suspecting that this morning Angel (who probably picked him up) talked to him about why I won’t be taking him home any more. I think he really listens to her. Well, most of the time, anyway.
I’m surprised how warm it is here. I put on a ¾ length sleeve shirt when I went to BK, when I got home I changed to a short sleeved shirt. Drizzly outside right now. Hope it clears up so I can go for my walk later. I do want to get Valentine’s Day cards for the kids. Which reminded me and so got out my St. Pat’s shirts to take to FL
Lisa – so happy about your blood tests
Beth – good luck tomorrow. Yea for the great results of your test
mammyshear – one of the things that I miss about Sparkpeople is their recipes. They would always list the calories in big numbers. You didn’t have to click on the recipe and search for the calories. Made it so much easier to eliminate certain recipes
Bathing suit: I have gotten to really like the chlorine resistant ones. I used to get the ones on sale and wear them, but in about a year they would start to disintegrate from the chlorine at the Y. I bought a chlorine resistant one for about $70 (yes, this was quite a while ago). I would estimate that it lasted me about 10 years. Yes, the lining wore away and I had to stitch the cups in place. The elastic around the legs finally stretched out. Instead of getting that repaired, I figured I’d gotten my money’s worth so I just bought a new bathing suit.
Walked down to the dollar store to buy Valentine’s Day cards for Jess, Denise and PJ
Rita – you’re on a roll right now
Andi – baby steps and you’ll get there!

Michele ~ Every time you speak of peeling and slicing onions I cringe. I hate peeling onions!
Lisa ~ Congrats on the iron numbers increasing. Hope your health continues to improve.
Allie ~ Miles is just as cute as can be!
Lanette ~ 75 grams of protein seems like an awful lot.
Debby ~ Your photos of the wet lands are lovely and I can see why you enjoy walking there.
Trying to get back on a healthier eating program!

Carol- thank you. The wetlands are really an amazing place. I wish I had known about them years ago. It is so peaceful. Great place to think/pray and enjoy the beauty. It changes a little every time I am there. Not as many of the birds right now because the water levels are too high for the smaller water birds.
Looking forward to spring when a new batch of swans hatch out and we can watch them grow.

Rosemarie- Yes, I did have a big bowl with some brown rice. 1/2 cup rice and 1 cup cashew chicken(and went back for seconds with the same amount). I put so much veggies and the chicken was boneless breast meat. The "sauce" is simply soy sauce, grated ginger, garlic, water and tapioca starch(calls for corn starch but I only use tapioca starch. I did use a very small amount of oil but that was in that huge pan full of veggies. Was under calories by the end of the day. Rarely go back for seconds of anything but no guilt because there was so much veggies
Having some for dinner tonight unless someone else eats it first.
I am going walking with a my friend for the first time in months- need to catch up- love our chats while we walk. Walks go by fast when you have someone to talk to.
Vicki- no, room mate is still there. I haven't been back up there since I was there for our candy making weekend. Hope to go back up soon. Missed spending Christmas with mom but wasn't up to it so soon after surgery
That is so sweet they helped the neighbor- they were raised right.
Time to go meet my friend. Will be there at least an hour. We start chatting and before we know it we have walked an hour or hour and a half.

Tracy - glad your DH was able to be there for FIL. Safe travels for you and DD.
Heather - congrats on getting the new bòok out there.
Got results back on diagnostic mammogram. Just more micro calcifications, go back in 6 months. Starting to organize packing for trip in February. Hard to decide what to take.
Everyone take care, Sue in WA6 -
Tracey-prayers to you and family. Safe travels.
Tired tonight. Worked all day and food pantry tonight. Crazy weather today. Sunny and warm, winds and storms moved through. Food pantry started at 5:30. Luckily worst of rain had moved through. Was windy and temp dropped pretty good. Was freezing by the end. But people were appreciative. I ate too much when I got home, but am not beating myself up.
Off to get some sleep.
Take care all,

Had a great walk with my friend- caught up on what is going on with her and her family(we have known each other since right before her son was born and Noah will be 25 in Aug- started out as daycare kid and ended up being son's bff for many years)
Walked for an hour.
Finishing up my day with just over 15,000 steps today
Haven't eaten dinner yet. DH is cleaning/organizing part of the kitchen where he keeps all the cat food/treats. He had said he would do it when I was gone. I have been home an hour and he is still doing it(and it looks about the same as when I left, a little less cluttered but not much)
I will warm up some of the cashew chicken I think. May have a little piece of the pudding cake we picked up.
So far today, I ate 625 calories and it says I earned 625 from exercise- leaving me 1200 left for the day. I will not use all that. I very rarely use the exercise points.
I will walk the wetlands again tomorrow- may go earlier or take one of the other trails-will wait and see.

Annie, I used Leslie Sansone back in the day, I have a lot of her DVDs, but now I use her videos on YouTube. I use to be able to do her 5-mile workouts, but now I just trying to get through the 30 min workout and only make it to 20 mins. I will work my way back up there.
Machka, I love your list of things to do. Are they from a book, or is it something you make up? It seems to me this could help me to think about something different than 11th-grade school work or work. I need to start making a list like that to remind myself that there is more to life than work and teaching my grandson.
Michele, What I miss most from Sparks People is my own menus. I use to just go in and choose my meals for the day, and I'm done. I'm working on doing that here.
Heather, I have read most of the poems in Memory Boxes. I remember my boxes filled with poems. Reading your poems made me want to try and dig out what's left of my poetry. I know a lot of my writing was tossed out by my X. I threw away all of my short stories when my creative writing professor from college told me that no one wanted to read that kind of stuff. (abuse) . I will be going back to reread your book. I skip all the comments because I wanted to experience the poetry itself. You have a lot of books out there. I will be reading more, including the children's books. Thank You for sharing your Memory Boxes with me.
For me, I had a good day, didn't get my workout in, but I stuck to my eating plan.5 -
What a day.
As we were boarding in Calgary we found out that Rodger’s brother in law was on his way to the hospital because they thought he was having a stroke.
It was 5 hours in the air not knowing what was going on. Kaitlyn and I spent the whole trip looking at pictures on our phones.
When we landed we found out that he did have a stroke but he was able to get a new miracle drug soon enough that he will make a full recovery, even though it will take time.
Kaitlyn and I got the rental, got checked into the hotel and then went to grab my niece from university and take her out for supper. We returned to the hotel and I received another text from Rodger that his brother in law tested positive for Covid.
Now we just need to pray really hard that no one else gets it. Kaitlyn and I are going to get rapid tests on the way there. If any of them get it I will probably not be allowed on to see Mom.
For those that pray our family could sure use some right now.
