@lmlmrn...I grew up next to my fraternal grandparent's farm & loved pumping water for Grandma. They had no indoor plumbing until I was a teenager. When the bathroom was installed Grandma refused to use it....just kept toddling down the yard to "her" outhouse.
AF all this month except for 1 bottle of Chianti early this month.5 -
Day 14 AF....pleased with weight loss in 14 days. Snow, hail and ice seem to be my excuse for not taking my daily walk.

That is funny about the well, theirs was not a pump.....'uncle ory' had to actually drop a bucket down into the well and he would draw two buckets for the day5 -
Yes T Town is Tacoma WA, I live in an area called South Hill which just means on the hill south of Puyallup.....for those of you wondering how one could pronounce this cityPew as in church pew, All like all the people, Up and look up. It is one of many Indian Nations in our area6 -

I grew up with rotary phones, party lines, and a Brownie box camera.
I'm laughing now, because of how many of you are going to "Google" to research those strange items.
Returning to my previously scheduled old age.
I'll be 50 in a few months but we also had rotary phones and party lines as a kid. You've got me on the box brownies though
The joys of film cameras. The struggle to "finish" the film off once you got back from vacation and taking random pictures. Or the excitement of picking the photo's up only to find all the pictures my mum had taken had all the heads missing!
@lmlmrn we only had an outside toilet in the house I lived in until I was about 9. Nothing quite matches that sinking feeling when going out there to finding it was frozen

I had my last web meeting start at 8:30pm last night and it didn't finish until almost 10pm so staying AF yesterday was quite easy.6 -
Hey everyone, I’m Amanda. I live in Michigan and it is freezing and gray here but at least it’s staying light out past 5 pm now. ☀️
I joined this lovely thread in the summer of 2022 and it has made a huge difference in my life! I’ve gone from being 25% AF to 98% AF.
The people here are kind and real and smart and fun! Welcome to all newcomers!

This week is flying by. I’m still employed. My boss sends me a text everyday asking how I am which is 🤮. I’m actually really tired (expected from the radiation) and sore and stiff. I *might* be carrying a little stress.
19 days AF ✨

Last night I realized I may be faced with a social situation this weekend where everyone around me is drinking. I may feel pressure to drink. I will keep my “tools” handy and remind myself of the incapacitating hangover AND that I am in active cancer treatment right now and do not need to add alcohol to what my body is going through. But, it will be fun to see friends from college and eat good food and forget about life for awhile.
2/23: AF
So from what I can gather on here, it’s maybe better to make your own mocktail (unless beer) than buy one pre-made? There’s a huge liquor store right by me but I’ve never looked for AF options, I’m going to check it out today.
@RockinRobyn672 Thank you for planting the seed of bringing my own mocktail (am I dense? How long have I been following this thread?) but cranberry is not for me. I’ll find something close!
I have 5 out of 20 doses of radiation done. 25% done! Weird and painful things are happening to the radiated area but this is to be expected, I will spare you the details.8 -

@mfowler883 hugs to Bentley! No wonder you’re emotional exhausted with all you have going on. I hope you can get some real rest and get on the upswing.
I had a glass of wine Wednesday night, even though it was a planned AF night. Hubby cooked linguine and clam sauce, and A glass of wine with dinner was delightful with that particular meal. However, I also also feel bad that I blew off my planned AF
days. I hate this conflicted feeling! At least it was only one glass, which still counts as “less alcohol”. But, between the pasta, bread and wine, my weight is not coming down!!!

And they wonder why we have a LESS ALCOHOL THREAD.
Drink as much as you can within that 6 hours span for $9.99???
Driving or walking would be hazardous. Slapping my forehead on this one.

Hi - Robyn here in SE Virginia. My goal is 16+ AF days per month. I had 18 AF days last month. I'm drinking less for health and weight loss. I post the next morning.
2/23: Drinks (2) - Well, best laid plans …. The brewery last night was out of both their NA and low-cal IPAs, so I reverted to the usual hazy. Also, my planned food choice wasn't available, but I was able to find a healthy option - a tuna poke bowl. On the way home we stopped at a favorite rooftop restaurant where I had a very pricey but delicious Tequila Old Fashioned. The rooftop has a great view of the the beach. Today I plan to "attempt" to Dance Marshall it during a break at work and get in a strength workout. I'm trying to figure out what fun can be found this weekend. I'm still not able to ride a bike outside due to the foot surgery, but I'm expecting that to change in the next couple of weeks.
Rolling Total: 11 AF Days out of 235 -
@MissMay they have these bottomless mimosa brunches at every restaurant popular with the 20-30 yo crowd in my city every saturday and sunday, It is ridiculous and so is the mess & noise afterward. The quality of what is served - both juice and booze and accompanying food is pretty bad. It seems like the way to clear out the fridges at the end of the week. And yet people go ….
RockinRobyn672 I can’t believe you are able to do DanceMarshall with an injured foot! You must be ready for the dance SEAL team …

Yesterday I had a Sierra Nevada Atomic Torpedo IPA with dinner, cut with Karbach Free & Easy NA IPA to stretch it out over the remainder of the evening. The Atomic held up well to being cut, as it's a really bold brew. I didn't drink more or take anything before bed, hoping maybe I'd sleep better, thinking perhaps the things I've been doing to sleep through the night were impacting my sleep.
Nope.
I slept like garbage again.
Bentley had a good night and a better morning. He's been getting funny about eating and taking his meds, but I picked up an assortment of foods yesterday and he ate his dinner well. We got him to take his meds with ham instead of cheese, so yay for that. He went outside and did what needed to be done at a reasonable time before bed, and slept through the night with no crying or yelling. This morning he did both outside without any waiting around or yelling or anything, then came in and ate breakfast and meds with no complaints. Now he's relaxing with no crying or yelling, so I'm feeling less stressed than I have been. I have to go get his meds refilled, and we're going to add CBD to the regimen. I don't know if it will help, but it can't hurt and there are a LOT of people who are convinced that it helps all sorts of things.
He's quite the trooper, he's probably doing better through all of this than we are.
I'm going to try to stay AF today. It might be the first AF day in February, I'm not sure, I haven't kept track.
Thank you, all of you, for being so supportive while I ramble about my dog and all that.
Bottomless mimosas....hmm. I've never been huge on mimosas. The last time we made them, we decided they weren't really getting us there so we, uh, modified the recipe. Yeah. In a rather large glass, we had our champagne, our orange juice, our ice and oh, 3oz of Gzhelka vodka. I think we each had about three of them, but the end of that night is kind of blurry, so....we dubbed them "Screaming Mimosas."

Well, then there's March.
While I've had drinks, I still continue to drink less, so I am happy about that.....
I'm frustrated however on the weight loss or lack there of, as this would be truly motivating for me. When I stopped completely for the alcohol experiment, I lost a few (I was thinking, if this continues, then GREAT) but by the next week, even though still not drinking, my body adjusted. My calories were about the same so I didn't really understand.
Wednesday, I ate and drank a bit more than my limit and the scale went down! My frustration sent me on a quest to find something different to follow. CICO is ok but I'm just counting calories and not looking at my choices for nutrition. I think I new focus with some results (hopefully) will motivate me to see more AF days.

@jthanmyfitnesspal ~ My angles are weight loss and disease prevention. We all know about the empty calories - so I'm trying to reduce my intake to reduce calories. At this time, my health is what I would call decent. Nothing it off the charts crazy and I want to make sure that I'm paying attention to my body so that doesn't happen.

What do I when I don't feel in charge of me 2/3rd of my days.....because work, family, circumstances are throwing me curveballs...that is the big question in my head......
@Womona - I love the Pavlovian response as well.
@joans1975 ~ I hope you have a ton of fun this weekend. You are due for some "goodtimes"! Can't wait to hear about it! Congrats on your progress with radiation! Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers!
@stockholm_andy ~ I just had a dream about taking film to be "developed" . It always took me months to get the pictures - So glad those days are over.
@missmay - I've seen those Bottomless Mimosas...maybe it was Vegas??? I just assumed they wouldn't let you stay there for 6 hours straight....but you never know!
@mfowler883 ~ Screaming Mimosas sounds good...but not 6 hours worth!!🙂
Happy Friday everyone!

So even though I had beer at lunch and my nap, I did not have any other alcohol the rest of that day. Today is painting so maybe later today or not.
I have the next 4 days meals planned. I am going to try using my 'induction burner' and make some 1skillet meals. Tonight will be barley beef skillet but I am going to use ground turkey since that is what I have on hand. I have to try and figure out what will and will not work before we hit the road. Eating out every meal for a month is just not an option.
I will have the induction burner and a small crock pot....all suggestions are welcome.
Ok off to go open that paint can...hello laundry room here I come.

@mfowler883 Lagunitas IPNA is still number one on my list but Athletic IPA runs a close second. It's not bad at all. You're right on the Heineken question - mix similar with similar. I may try to make a black & tan (good idea).

@dawnbgethealthy I hope you're feeling better and that it's not COVID.4

@forestdweller1 I am one who knows what party lines are and rotary phones. My grandma told me (just kidding!) I did have to look up the "brownie box camera" (LOL).4
