@dawnbgethealthy I haven't been to the Cinderella ballet, but sounds fun, especially if there's humor involved. Like a lot of other folks my age, Cinderella was one of my favorite fairytales (Disney version, not the Grimm version). It's still one of my favorites along with Snow White, although I support the more independent and stronger female characters in modern day fairytales.4

@mfowler883 Hoping Bentley starts feeling better.6

@MamaJammy Congrats on the 10 pounds!4

@MissMay I know you'll enjoy Las Vegas! Have fun! We have a trip planned with friends out that way in September. We're going to the Grand Canyon and Grand Tetons. We were going to fly into Phoenix and spend a couple nights there but now we're pretty sure we will fly in to Las Vegas instead.

And he can occasionally be a bit Kramerish, so we belong together.
Do you think you dance better sober or with a few drinks? What does the rest of the world think …..
Laughing so hard at your comment : - )
I do Fitness Marshall in the morning to open up my body and creaky joints, so...sober.
Grandma is hard to keep up with!!
This is the one that I have done a dozen times now (I have posted it before) and it is my new favourite for the dance moves and rib cage lifting. It makes me happy : - )

I seriously would never know about new music if it wasn't for Fitness Marshall.
This song is so great and won a Grammy. I don't get down deep with the drops that they do.

This one has great moves, but is deceptively aerobic. I like all of the ones that twist me.
BTW, the calorie burn from Fitness Marshall is the same as Zumba.

I am in.
I am Dawn, I live in SE BC Canada
My ongoing goal remains, 16-20 AF days per month.
I had 17AF days for January (a long month)
I do this diary style to keep track, and I post the next morning
Saturday Feb 04 - Drinks, one of them out. Having a nice Sunday so far. Plan is AF today, and to stay above 50% for the rest of the month. Planned drinks (and dinner) pre-ballet Wednesday (Cinderella).
Sunday Feb 05 - AF - Felt tempted watching the Grammy's, but didn't imbibe.
Monday Feb 06 - AF - Had some work stress and definitely wanted to have drinks afterward, but didn't. Planned AF for Tuesday so as to be "fresh" to enjoy the ballet on Wednesday.
Tuesday Feb 07 - AF - Felt like having drinks as usual, but planning on drinks pre and post ballet so could wait.
Wednesday Feb 08 - 2 1/2 drinks, 2 would have been enough. The ballet was fabulous, Cinderella and very comedic. I didn't have a chance to post Thursday morning since I was up later than usual and didn't have time in the morning.
Thursday Feb 09 - AF - I will probably have drinks over the weekend.
Friday Feb 10 - 2 drinks. I may have drinks Saturday as well, we'll see. I will for sure be watching the Superbowl and Ri-Ri, but will not have drinks on a Sunday night.
Rolling total: 6AF days out of 10 days. 50% AF won't cut it to reach my goal in 28 days (reminder to self)2 -
I have been busy so no time to post but I'm still sticking to my plan. Today will be AF so that will be 6/11 so far this month. I'm going to a Superbowl party tomorrow but I'm not much of a day drinker (game starts at 3:30 Pacific) and don't like to drink on Sundays so plan to be AF tomorrow too.

72 yo active 192 pounder living near Eugene, Oregon...Just back on MFP after a huge lapse in time and a gain of 40 pounds. When I am committed to MFP it is easier for me not to drink. Adding those alcohol calories is difficult as they add up so fast. When I am not calorie counting I have could care less.
Until I feel I have some control I am going to try going AF. Will see how this goes. Once I am able to control my ice cream addiction I will consume alcohol as long as the calories are counted in my daily allotment.
I was happy to see this discussion.9 -
Hey! Congratulations to those of you losing weight and drinking less!
@dawnbgethealthy I was thinking of you today since we are making BBQ ribs for superbowl and know that is your favorite. I miss you and thank you for your motivating words. You are always so right with your advice. I am very slowly settling back into a running schedule.
Sunday goal is to run at very least 3.5 miles straight. My goal for this coming week is to find my lost "chi" (and sleep like a normal person!).

Another day wine free. 2 more sleeps 'til Monday. I decided that the rest of the wine will be enjoyed then. Still having busy dreams but not as "dramatic".5

Hey everyone, I’m Amanda. I live in Michigan and it is freezing and gray here but at least it’s staying light out past 5 pm now. ☀️
I joined this lovely thread in the summer of 2022 and it has made a huge difference in my life! I’ve gone from being 25% AF to 98% AF.
The people here are kind and real and smart and fun! Welcome to all newcomers!
2/1-2/7: 6 out of 7 AF
2/8: AF
Not a lot to report here. Definitely feeling my seasonal affective disorder but not drinking, that won’t help. Very tired all the time.
2/9: AF
TGIF! 6 hours of work today then loads of self care for the weekend.
2/10: AF
You would think I had multiple drinks last night with the headache I woke up with but no! Just a crazy headache.
I made a comfort stone yesterday in art therapy and it was such an excellent shot of dopamine, I am going out today to buy more materials to make more.
I hope everyone has an excellent weekend!
2/11: AF
After obsessing on some numbers this morning, I have come up with:
I have only had 4 A days out of the past 164, or 97.6% AF
As I write this, I’m not sure if this is a big deal or not. It is no longer a hard, daily thing to not drink. I feel like I have bigger obstacles to overcome.
Like my obsessive thinking lol8 -
@RockinRobyn672 A comfort stone is a piece of circular shaped glass you attach an image to. I’ll post a pic when I’m not on my phone (MFP doesn’t allow me to post pics from my phone 😐)
@mfowler883 More about Bentley please! Breed, age. Remind me where you live again? Vet tech minds want to know.5 -
February accountability: 3 days AF
Alcohol: 8 days (12 drinks)
Goal: Limit 2 glasses per day; 12-16 AF days this month.
2/11 - 1 wine; hard to pass up an open bottle of wine at my daughter’s4 -

We're in Houston.
We rescued Bentley. They said, you don't even want to see this one, he's highly aggressive. I looked at him and said, that's not an aggressive dog, that's a scared dog. It was a bit of a challenge to get him to relax with us, but we got there over time.
The vet thought he was maybe three at the time, but hard to say for sure; that was six years ago. He might be 9 or 10, or maybe older, we don't know. He's been losing some teeth lately, another hint that he might be older than we thought.
We thought about doing a DNA test to see what he is but never did it. We think he could be a schnauzer shih tzu mix.
I'll try to post a picture or two later.
So far this morning, he is still struggling.

@mfowler883 You puppy dog sounds so cute I am sorry there are health problems to deal with. I have brought home only dogs from the shelter. Our last was an an abused husky mix. She was with us for 16 years.
Was not AF last night. Big mistake, and indulged in several glasses of wine and paid the price today. Kinda woozy/dizzy. I know it will pass and for punishment we are taking a hike this morning after it warms up a bit
Neither of us are big sports fans but we may have to watch some football for the commercials. BTW we do not own a TV, only computer screens. I have not missed cable or the cable bill each month. Going on 15 years without. With streaming networks I see what I want, even if it is much later than the rest of the public.
I am getting ready to prep the other office/room for painting tomorrow. Once that is done we can finish with the serious packing of upstairs. Well after next weekend. We are having a birthday dinner here next Saturday. It will be the first time my mother will attempt to leave her house since the first part of January. So in order not to put her in an anxiety attack we are keeping the kitchen/livingroom/dinningroom area the same. Once dinner and guests are done we pack it up in crates and continue with our plan to leave the state at the end of March.
I am getting excited for our 'road trip' we plan to take 3-4 weeks to travel across the US with the last few weeks looking for our forever home in the unknown city we have yet to find. Once we find a house and an offer is accepted and all goes well we will fly back to our current home. Rent a U-Haul and with the help of my sister and BIL drive back. Put our current home on the market and not look back.
Whew this is long ....sorry a lot on my mind

Hi - Robyn here in SE Virginia. My goal is 16+ AF days per month. I had 18 AF days last month. I'm drinking less for health and weight loss. I post the next morning.
2/11: Drinks (2.5) - We spent Saturday afternoon on a mini-adventure driving around Fort Monroe, which is surrounded by a moat and is the largest fort by area ever built in the US. There is a great path for walking/cycling but it was so cold and windy, we didn't check it out. I want to learn more about it's history and spend time on that path. We had dinner in nearby downtown Phoebus, which would have been great if not for the sodium overkill. I had two glasses of wine at dinner. Instead of the normal barhopping at music venues after dinner we were home by 7 p.m. and watched TV. BORing!
Rolling Total: 6 AF Days out of 115 -
@lmlmrn Your upcoming adventure sounds so exciting! Can't wait to hear about it.2

Vegas Superbowl party drinks of choice.

My goal is to be comfy in a swim suit for a Mexico vacation in November. Currently 189 this morning...under 190!!! My goal is 157-160 or so. 5'7" and 72 years old.
No alcohol for 4 days!!! Until I get control of my portions and choices no alcohol, no eating out and no snacking. So far so good for four days. I travel extensively and I find traveling is super challenging.
Watching super bowl. Made myself a diet squirt with BADA Bing cherry juice. Sure would have been better with gin or vodka. LOL. air popped popcorn for snacks.7 -

I guess I slipped a floating rib. It hurts a lot. Sunday night means dark wave and a few drinks. Here's Bentley and a few shots that include Harley...
Bentley's picture from the shelter's website and what we found when we got there:

WTF dogs:
We ordered a wheelchair today, should have it by Tuesday. I'd be pleased if he's walking again by then and we can just return it, but if he isn't mobile we need to give him the means to get around...

Was not AF for super bowl but kept it in check. Still, it wasn't that great and I fell asleep and missed the exciting ending. I'm back on track today.4

I had the Sunday scaries last night because today is Monday, which means work. I can do it though, I have much bigger fish to fry than a psychotic boss!6 -
@RockinRobyn672 Here is the comfort stone
(Of course I have it sitting on Roger's fur because he is also a comfort.) Theres meaning behind the image and the word but I wont bore you with my psycho-babble. The stone feels nice sitting in the palm of your hand and it warms up.

@mfowler883 Those are some fuzzy little Ewok dogs! I am sad to see Bentleys first pic is with a rabies pole but it looks like he has come a long way and you have given him a wonderful home. Fingers crossed he doesnt need the wheelchair but dogs get around quite well in those.
@MissMay Its so nice to see palm trees and blue sky! It was 36 here yesterday but the sun was out and I didnt need to wear my puffy coat to do errands.
@lmlmrn You have a lot going on but also a huge adventure awaiting you! It sounds like you are as organized as you can be. I cant wait to see where you land!5 -
2/12 - AF; Super Bowl and the wine, beer & mixed drinks were flowing at my house. I enjoyed Fever Tree Blood Orange Ginger Beer with a lime slice in a pretty glass and skipped the vodka.
@lmlmrn Lots of excitement for you and planning your future. Which direction are ya'll planning to head out?5
