Prayers for Destiny.
Kylia, you make me yearn for the girls dancing days. I really miss going to recitals. Those bears are DARLING! Happy Birthday!
Pip, I love the new slipcovers! Perfect choice. New booties and jacket are darling. Glad she's tolerating them well.
OMG Tracey... I'm so sorry. Does this daughter and granddaugher really not realize that Mom can't afford to continue to pay for this house? Are they really that blind and selfish? I'm truly sorry to be that blunt.
Tough week for Mom this week. She fell three times and been transported to the hospital all three times. Cat and MRI all clean, but she's weak and hallucinating and falling deeper into demenia. She still knows who we are, but she needs a lot more help. We're meeting with her care team next week to start more palliative care to get medicare involved and just more people on her team. She's not at end-of-life, by any means. She's "healthy as a horse", so to speak. Her mom lived until she was 99 and Mom is 93.
3-Watch a movie that reminds you of kindness... didn't have time as I was at the hospital (will have to make up for it this weekend)
4-Take a picture of 3 things that make you happy and share with a friend... will try to do this today

Rebecca - She said it was the magic monster making a spell to make him pregnant.
Barbara[/b] - DH had cut out and punched bookmarks. She asked if I had any 'plastic' so she could put glitter in. I did have cellophane. She sellotaped it to the bookmark at the back and inserted some lovely glitter pieces I had previously ordered from Amazon for projects. She is very 'crafty'.
The Inspector Morse I was going to watch was the one we had watched last week and I had forgotten to delete! Boo! Now we are waiting for a series 2 Midsomer Murders to start, but we will have to watch the adverts.
I rarely watch commercial programmes live as I prefer to record them and zip through the ads. Could just go to bed, but I had a long nap this afternoon! I do really like the early series.
Love to all, quiet day tomorrow.

I ate 1094 calories today with 83g of protein. Yay! I had more tea with honey than yesterday and I counted the honey in my oatmeal.
Quiet day here. I read one of my mom's books by Susan Wiggs. Very sad and sentimental, but with the requisite romantic happy ending.

Survived the brush cutting, and I think Corey's going to put the burning off 'til tomorrow. He took the big gas chainsaw, and I took my little battery operated one and we cleaned up trees for 30 minutes straight. This is just one of the ones that we had to work on:
I cut branches for about 20 minutes, until I could no longer lift the chainsaw, then dragged some of the lighter stuff to the fire pit, and then subsided back to the house. According to the Fitbit, it was a total of 1200 steps and 122 calories in 30 minutes. I'll take it. It also gives me my second exercise for the week, which is my goal. Next week, I'm shooting for three 30 minute exercise sessions.
Time for a shower...
Love y'all,

No work tomorrow so the plan is to do Jari Love Get Ripped to the Core DVD.
I’ve been coughing – a dry cough. When I brought up the Christmas items from downstairs, I was literally wheezing. I’m wondering if it’s exercise induced asthma or perhaps cold-related. It’s supposed to get warmer next week so I’m going to see what happens. Also, when we go to FL that’ll be a good test (just hope it’s not cold down there)
Kylia – sounds like you had a wonderful birthday dinner. So happy for you
Heather – Edie and BOYS???? When did this happen? I remember when she was born. And I’m not that old…..yet
Anne DE – what kind of protein powder do you use? Use Nature’s Plus Spiru-Tein
How I wish Vince would eat even something a little different. He wants things PLAIN, no spices at all. And I want things with a little bit of flavor. He likes the same thing over and over. I want variety
Just finished putting the last of the Christmas decorations in the garage.
Rita – the only thing I don’t like about buying at Sam’s is that you need to buy such BIG packages. They do have good meat, tho.
Carla – I’m so sorry for you mom and you
Allie – sending virtual chicken soup

Annie I used to measure by volume, until I got my food scale. The first time I compared the volume of a tablespoon with its weight, I was shocked. A tablespoon of hummus is supposed to weigh 14 g, it tipped the scale at almost 30g.
Machka “It's also a bit disheartening when we realise just how small portions really are once they are weighed.” So very very true.

Breakfast cereal is another one. When I think of a serving of breakfast cereal, I think that it will mostly fill our small bowls at least.
Nope ... 45 grams of breakfast cereal (1 serving), is a small and disappointing dusting of cereal at the bottom of the bowl.
Here's a visual on 100 calories of nuts.

Here's another one ... what 100 calories of various fruits, veggies, nuts, seeds, meat, cheese, bread, etc. looks like.

I did thirty reps of my dumbbells! Yay!
I was surprised at how small a 100 calorie serving of chicken breast is. I much prefer the 100 calories of tilapia, but the general advice is to only eat tilapia twice a week because of mercury.
My oatmeal and mango smoothie recipes I measure with a measuring cup every time. Except for the blueberries, now that I think about it. Hmmm. There's always some little way that extra calories creep in.

Vince talked about breaking down these boxes for recycling, but I asked him not to since when we got back from FL I wanted to sell his mother’s china. Well, he isn’t happy about selling her china, but I told him that this may be a start to getting my pandemic money and he just didn’t say anything. I suspect he knows I’m owed it.
Night everyone.

Hi Gals,
What a crazy time for me. Tons of embroidery this week, and I agreed to make cupcakes for a family party this weekend for the newest member , who is turning 1. After agreeing, I found out it was not for just family, but for 50 people!!! Then my mom’s closest friend who is at an assisted living location about 1 hour away from me, is in hospice and not expected to make it beyond a week or two… She has had dementia for 5 years and a couple of weeks ago caught the flu (not covid) and is down to 67 lbs, won’t eat and is sleeping a lot - She is 96 years old. SO long story short, I will be dropping off the cupcakes and then getting my mom to up for a visit. It will not be great, but Mom wants to see her friend before her friend passes.
I made scratch cupcakes not a common thing in the states, Heather always making them from scratch and looking at a recipe it seemed easy enough, and it was easy and while cupcakes are not a diet food, but all the ingredients are things I can say. Then frosted them with Swiss Meringue Buttercream frosting I am pleased with the quality and additional flavor not just sweet.
Happy Birthday to the birthday girls, welcome to the new gals

While I would never sell my husband's things in general, I really don't think I'd bother with china. China prices and china desirability have dropped off so much that it would be more trouble than it's worth to try to sell it.
My mother offered me her china ... but I've already got my set and my grandmother's set which I never use and have thought about selling. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with it.

I've always been quite good at portion sizes, having belonged to a 'Slimming World' club for years and being put forward for Slimmer of the Year! Macadamia nuts are a bit of a surprise! I used to weigh everything; volumes are very deceptive. The US cup system is often way off. I have a scale out on the counter. I still think in ounces, though our official system is grams. We mostly think in both.
Kim - Hooray for 'scratch' baking! I don't know anyone in the UK who makes stuff from packets. It's so easy to make your own. You can find mixes on the shelves, but I can’t imagine why.
Thinking of a run thus morning. The palm tree fronds are gently wiggling, but I think it's OK. Blue sky!

Sunday --
Spent 2.5 hours in the garden moving rocks and digging. I'm in the finishing stages of my dry stream project. Although I was somewhat active for the 2.5 hours, I'm going to record it as 45 minutes of exercise.
And then we went for a bicycle ride.
