It was storming and raining early this morning. It’s been pretty windy the past couple of days but nothing like our neighbors to the south experienced. I met a couple of friends at 9:00 am after the rain had passed through and we ran 8 miles.
@katharmonic – Sounds like you are doing great with your surgery and are well on the road to recovery. I know it’s not as easy as you made it sound. You hang in there and keep on keeping on!
@Laurz9191 – Good luck with your race!
Happy Birthday to your beautiful wife @Tarun_yadavA!
@chris_in_cal - Did your doctor release you? Hope you are healing well.

Good luck in the morning @Laurz9191 . Looking forward to a great race report.
Glad you were able to spend time with family yesterday @martaindale and glad they are doing well now. That had to be tough to be going through cancer at the same time. Great run today. I have never heard of salt chews. I may have to give them a try.
@Mari33a Congrats on reaching your monthly goal! Great running.
I played league tennis at noon today, with someone else I had never played with before. She was pretty good and we were hanging in there for the first set, but fell apart in the second. We lost 3-6, 1-6. The first set was closer than the score, as most of the games were duce games. We had a fifth player today that just loved to make the ball go in odd directions and speeds - her name was WINDY. It was 70F (21C), according to Garmin, with wind speed of 21 mph (32kph) - it was gusty so sometimes it was harder than that. Would have been perfect weather without the Windy. I traversed 1.1 miles today during the match.
When I got home, I did a 2.25 mile walk on the treadmill. I ran just a tiny bit to get my HR up to 120. It stayed higher today. I wonder if not having had much to eat all day would make my HR higher? I did drink, so shouldn't have been dehydrated. For tennis, my avg HR was 115 with a max of 140 bpm. The walk was avg 111 with a max of 128 bpm.

I ran 2 miles again today for my streak. It was a lovely morning. It was still a little windy, but nice. Later in the afternoon I took my dogs for a walk and we walked a mile. I used to take them a lot more, but they are pretty old and don't have a lot of stamina. It should be nice again tomorrow for my long run. I hope it is.
I hit my goal for March today. I guess I should have set my goal a little higher.

Morning everyone!
Got in my 9K. Bit of a struggle.
Bad eating and a few beers/cocktails catching up with me.
Friday - Mediterranean, yesterday - Indian, today- Italian. Feel it's getting progressively 'heavier' and unhealthier. Back to salads and hummus tomorrow! Lol
Thanks for the kind words everyone ❤️
Yeah... The wife... She cleans up Ok too 😁😁😁
@kgirlhart @Mari33a well done on hitting your monthly goal!! 🙌
@martaindale sorry to hear about the cancer with your in-laws

I wish Windy would get the heck out of town! Sounds like you had fun playing anyway.

Just an easy 3 miles this morning. It was 43F and windy up where I live and the half mile strip that is fairly level and I usually run out and back for a warm up was exposed to the wind, so I headed down the hill where I didn’t feel the wind. Of course what goes down must come up…

Recovery miles today in the rain. I haven't been running on Sunday since I dropped back to 5 days a week. I missed my run on Friday so rescheduled to today. I really like having a short recovery run on Sunday. I may rework my schedule to do that as much as I can. It also frees up another day during the week, which can be nice for weeks where I have a lot of early shifts.3 -
Boy oh boy the weather is nice after the three month rainstorm we've had in the California.
I walked today. Physically I'm making great progress after a small medical procedure. Everything is on track with that. From a fitness standpoint....we'll see, I think in a week or so I'll get back what I started.

So, today was race day. Here is my race report . The weather was perfect for running. It was not hot (about 46 degrees Fahrenheit / 8 degrees C), not rainy, and not windy. I went with shorts and a sleeveless shirt, but would have also been comfortable if I had worn a bit more clothing.
I had multiple goals in mind going into the race, but my main one was to get a PB. I have only run 3 half marathons before, but the first one I did in 2011 was in 1:57:43 on the same course I ran today and had been my fastest time to date. Today my official time was 1:56:50, so I met my main goal! My second goal was to run in 1:55:00 or faster. I didn’t meet that goal today, but am definitely confident that I could maybe meet it in the future.
The race started very well, although I had to do a lot of weaving. I was in the middle of the third start block of 6, but maybe should have tried to move closer to the front. That would have saved some energy at the start. Also at certain parts of the race we were joined by the marathon runners and the relay runners, which lead to lots of weaving in and out to stay at the same speed.
My goal was to keep around a 5:27/km split. Up until km 15, so almost 10 miles I had no problem keeping the pace. Then, suddenly my legs got really fatigued and I had to slow down pretty significantly. My pulse slowed down as well and I felt I could have “easily” run faster in terms of my heart, but my legs/muscles just weren’t able to. Maybe I had built up too much lactic acid? Or maybe I still need to do more strength training? Or fuelling? I am really not sure. Any ideas or tips there are much appreciated! I did take a gel right before the race, one after 45 minutes and one with about 5k to go.
I was happy that I did speed up again the final km and could finish strong. I was 68th of 224th in my age group and 501/1861 overall. I was hoping to get somewhere in the top third, so I was happy about that as well!
What I am now however concerned about is running a full marathon in the fall. (Maybe it’s too soon to think about this on race day, but I am). I just hope my legs can complete the marathon like I would like them too. I am really not sure which goals exactly I should set for that race. I would like them to be obtainable. I still have 25 weeks to figure that part out I guess!
The medals 🏅 we got for finishing are actually made out of wood, which I thought was kind of unique. The best part after the race was getting a free leg message. I was pretty tired after the race, but I don’t feel sore at all, so I think after 2 rest days, I will probably start running again .
Here are some pictures from the race and the medal. Before the race.

Congratulations on your race and your PB @Laurz9191! I love the "medal"! I think you will have no problem running the marathon in the fall.1
-
Congrats @Laurz9191 on your HM PR! You can definitely do a full if you train for it. I'm not going to lie, it's hard, but that feeling of accomplishment is worth it.1
-
Way to go @Laurz9191! Congratulations on your PB! The City Hall is beautiful and I love that wooden medal. Remember how one time, we thought running an entire mile was impossible? And then a 5K? Then a half? Now a marathon! As @Scott6255 said, set up your training plan and follow it and you will be ready come race day.3

It was a lovely morning and I ran 11 miles. It was a little cooler than yesterday, but the sun was shining and it was really nice. It was 47°F feels like 44° at the start so I wore shorts and a t-shirt with sleeves. I took them off about 3 miles into the run. It was about 56°F at the end so just about perfect. And I saw the first bluebonnet of spring.

@Teresa502 haha, love it! Resurrecting the sweet tooth discussion!
Hi Teresa, I'm Tarun. I have a dessert problem too.

The Cheesecake is next week when I'm in the US & get to visit Cheesecake Factory!
(We don't have a Cheesecake Factory here in England 😭).
Weekend desserts.Saturday [Indian]was two helpings of ice creams... Coconut, pistachio (we all picked! I did not eat all that to myself! Haha!)
Sunday [Italian] I had a nice slab of Tiramisu
I shall report from Ft Laudy Cheesecake Factory next week 😁
