Tina - Envious of your diving trip. Apart from the coldy husband! I have only dived once (apart from practicing in swimming pools) and that was in the Red Sea. Wonderful! I remember a huge scallop scampering across the sand and the gorgeous corals and fish. I also saw a huge moray eel.
Picked up Bea from school. I stopped off on the way home at our Mediterranean shop. Bought two packs of frozen artichoke hearts, falafel paste, and tahini. Then off to the Arabic wholesalers and bought frozen tilapia for our fish soups.
Tonight we are having pigs cheeks, stewed in beer, with kale as a side. Unfortunately, we couldn't resist accompanying Bea with her choc ice dessert. Oh well.
Much love to all, Heather UK xxxxxxxx3 -
I don't like plain water, only drink it during Zumba usually.
This time of year, when it is so cold, I have a cup of tea with me from the time I get up until I go to bed. Regular with caffeine or ones with extra caffeine some days until 1-2PM then switch to decaf or herbal for the rest of the day. I have only been up a few hours and I am already on my second cup.
During the summer I drink a LOT of seltzer, plain or flavored. We have our own SodaStream plus buy when ever Safeway has the damaged packages marked 1/2 off. We have at least one in each car so if we get thirsty when we are out we can just grab one. That started by accident one time and now we make sure to do it all summer. I still start my day during the summer with a cup of tea and another in the evening. I drink some cool tea during the day too(no iced because ice = instant asthma attack(hoping the new meds will help with that, haven't tried yet)
I have never liked sodas. Too sweet. The only soda I drink and it is once a year is root beer for a root beer float. Once a summer seems to be enough.
I keep a cup or glass of something to drink with me all the time at my desk(and I am there way too much)or when watching tv. Keeps me from snacking as much.
I have a TON of different teas so switch up the flavors. I tend to go for the chia or cinnamon. Not a big fan of most of the fruit teas.I will drink them if my others aren't sounding good that night.
Stock up on my favorites and also really stocked up when we went the two times to the Celestial Seasoning Factory in Bolder. LOVED that place. Found out from them, tea never expires.
Favorite one that I have shared with friends and they love it too, is the Good Earth Sweet and Spicy.
STRONG cinnamon taste. One friend used to drink way too much Fire Ball whiskey. Tried this and rarely drinks the whiskey now. This tastes the same and better for her. Former hubby is now hooked on it too. A nice just sweet enough so you think you are having a sweet treat but 0 calories.
Grocery Outlet has it $8 for four boxes which is a great deal. Amazon has it but more than twice the price.

Don't think I will walk today. It is cold with a high of about 50 and raining AGAIN. Rain again tomorrow too. Hope that is the end of it for at least a few days.
Good thing I did extra yesterday- almost an hour and a half walking the wetlands then another hour of zumba so over 18,000 steps/17floors/8.2 miles/2361cal(so my fitbit app says.)
Looking forward to nice longer days so I can walk with my friends again. I enjoy the wetlands alone but doing it all the time is a bit boring some days. Love walking and catching up with friends too. One friend tends to push a bit and we do a lot longer walks which is great. The other is happy just doing the hour. Both are nice changes for me.

The biggest help is always having a drink cup filled near you. Fill it only when empty so you can count how much you drink. You end up drinking mindlessly, and sip without thinking making it a habit.
I hope this helps Mary!
RVRita
This is what I do,it really helps(except I don't wait until it is empty. I go top off /warm up my tea when it is about half or has gotten too cold).
I know I am drinking alot because I am running to the bathroom so often
I need to cut back on how much I drink at night to cut down the times I wake up to use the bathroom.0 -
Regarding drinking more water—I had a habit of drinking a glass of cranberry juice with my meals, and suddenly realized how much sugar it contains. I’ve decided to drink a glass of water with my meals, and am very pleased with how much better I
feel. 😊

Thanks ladies for all of your ideas on how to consume more water! I like the different ideas that each of you have. One thing that I’m going to start to do is add the fruit to my water. Since I live in Arizona, we have lots available! Several of you mentioned setting up a routine for drinking it. I’m going to have to really concentrate on this. I never really thought about it much before. Then I realized that some days I didn’t even drink a full bottle of water. I mostly drank pop. I think the pop turned into my comfort drink! Now that I am able to exercise, I want to eliminate pop for most days. I don’t drink much alcohol so when we go out, I have a soda. I like the idea of substituting maybe flavored water. The only thing I have to make sure is not to get any artificial sweeteners in it. Supposedly they cause leaky gut. I don’t know what that is but I just heard it while I was watching the souping infomercial. I’m going to put some of your suggestions to work!

Dear ones, thank you so much for the concern and well wishes. Been down with a non-C19 bug since Thursday. The “stupid head” sinus congestion ache, sore throat, dizziness and lethargy made me take a C-19 test, thankfully negative. Finally felt well enough to read pgs 48-60 last night. Catching up today before I see if I can make pasta e fagioli from scratch. Took screenshots of the newbies, will respond to the few others I remember. Like I said “stupid head.”
Welcome @GroovySunshine Jane G on the south coast of UK. Are you near our Heather in Hove?
Welcome @StacyAnn726 . Starting is the hardest part and showing up is the key.
Welcome @audreysoverhere . Self-care/fitness is a great treat for yourself.
Welcome @Joyfulandactive . Love your screen name and con VERY grats for your victory over cancer.
Welcome @grandmagege ! I don’t have premium and mfp tracks calories and whichever macros I’ve set it to. By replying to any post in this thread you’ve joined. We’re chatty, jump right in whenever something piques your interest.
Lanette love the chicks’ names. Fingers Xd you get all hens. Will you build a chicken tractor like Lisa’s?
Lisa, rejoicing at the Rinvoq results. Hoping it least to lasting healing. Slept nine hours? Whoop whoop!
Karen WOW. Not Parkinsons, but possible medicine side effect? Prayers for you and your spouse and gratitude for your connections
Mary never thought I’d say this but Halelujah for kettlebells! IMHO if your urine is pale and no darker than straw, you are getting enough water. Maybe fruit-flavored sparkling water or iced herb tea with your meals? I cannot tolerate diet pop but others can.
Vicki hope you have good traveling weather.
KJ 6 years?!? the pics
Heather really admire your ability to so honestly look at situations and yourself.
Machka con VERY gratulations How will you approach managing your former co-workers? “…the exciting worlds of data and accounting…” only you, dear Machka  I find both calming and reassuring, but exciting? :noway:
Rebecca thankful you liked your counselor well enough to hug her. Keep the Kleenex box handy while you write.
Allie Laughter is the very best medicine, so glad you got so much on your trip as an antidote to all the grief. What someone else said about the transplant list, never did understand how you were taken off.
Kim another option to consider, the Elks usually have a repository of health care devices for free loan out. You don’t have to be a member. Here the collection is mostly shower chairs, wheeled commode chairs, crutches, even a knee scooter or two. They might even have a stabilizing bar you could screw over the edge of your tub. Hope you can avoid having to install a grab bar into the wall. You never know what’s under those tiles…
Pip the fabric and the shape of the chair.
Annie con VERY gratulations on shedding the inches, and the weight, AND completing your Dad’s tax returns. Woot!
Carla for your loss but thankful you have so many laugh filled memories.
Debbie relieved to learn you made it through the running water. That was very very dangerous. Next time please consider turning back even if it means being late. Late is better than never. “Tea never expires” great news to this tea horder. Thanks!
Carol hope the mammo techs are gentle and the results clear and good.
Kylia hate those holding patterns. Prayers continue for you, your DH, Aubrey…
Katla somehow never thought of cranberry juice containing much sugar. Thanks!
Rita yours to Mary about the fruited water. Cucumber and Ginger are good too.
Tracey, Betsy, Rosemarie, Ginny, Rori, Tina, Teri, Evelyn, Joy in Canada, and everyone else, there were comments I intended to make but they’ve gone right out from my “stupid head”
15. Stop. Breathe. Notice. Repeat regularly. And practice, practice, practice.
16. Get really absorbed with an interesting or creative activity. Reading has been a great distraction.
17. Look around and spot three thing you find unusual or pleasant. Sun shining in blue sky over sea.
18. If you find yourself rushing, make an effort to slow down. Remember this next week.
19. Appreciate nature around you wherever you are. Sun on green trees and blue ocean.
20. Focus on what makes you and others happy today. Joe and I laughing at the dogs’ antics.joy

Well yesterday the yard man charged the battery on the disability van for me. I went to drive the van and it died while I was driving it. I waited 2 hours for the Triple AAA to come help me! The van is in my driveway and I plan to private tow it to the Dealer and get a new battery. A rather unexpected expense! The proper person came and picked up the hoyer lyft to donate to the ALS Foundation. Every donation or change to the house is bittersweet. I cry an ocean! I wish it would warm up here so I can garden. I long to be outside!!!! I will take a walk today at the nearby college in the cold today!!!
Here, AAA will come to you and replace the battery in the vehicle. I have found it to be the same price as putting it in myself and it is far more convenient.

We didn't expect to enjoy this trip as much as we did. There were many diverse dive sites. Some reefs, some walls, several WWII wrecks. They had really big eels there too and the biggest giant clam I've ever seen (nearly as big as me). I had hoped I'd lose a pound or two from all the diving, but the food was just too good.
Plus, it was nice to be warm for 3 weeks!

Karen-Hope you figure out your spouse's medication side effect issues and hope the resolution is simple (i.e. just stop taking the offender).
Lisa-Yay for pain free days! I wish many more for you!
Barbara-Sorry you're sick! Hope you're tip top soon!
Rori-Same best wishes to you.
Carla-Sorry for your loss.
Allie, Vicki-enjoy your trips.
I am envious of all of you gardeners. I do not like the gardening part, but I like the food it produces!
Well, it's a very unpleasant-looking day outside, but I need to get out in it and pick up more anti-malarials. My nurse practitioner didn't prescribe enough for me initially. So, out I go and part with yet another co-pay. Ugh.
Tina in CA3 -
Barbara- Thanks!!
The water wasn't that deep and there was a fence at the edge so wouldn't go far
I had to pick my daycare girl up so really didn't have time for the 30min it would take to get all the way back around the other way.
Yes, I was thrilled when our tour guide told us that tea never expires.(from another tea horder to another). I have so many boxes but can't pass up a bargain of something I know I love or one that sounds great. Right now I am having Hot Cinnamon. It is a new one to me. It is more of a ground cinnamon flavor which is good but I really love the red hots type cinnamon. I am the same way with peppermint. Most is good but a trick my former brother in law showed me that I continue to use, is adding a little bit of candy cane in my tea or just hot water. Love the flavor, so warming but very low calories. 99% of the things I drink are 0Cal. Once in a while I will have coffee which I have to have creamer in.
If you are like me and love tea, and if you ever get the chance. Go to the Celestial Seasonings Factory in Boulder,CO.
They have a huge tasting room- all free. You can stay and try every one of the teas they make.
The factory tour is free-your "ticket" for the tour is a pack of tea(the 4 tea bag pack)
The tour is amazing, so informative . Then you end up in a great gift shop.
I bought so much that they had to ship it home for me(they just charge the exact shipping)
At least this is how it was when we went a few years ago.
Really want to go back. I was with dh, our son and dh's friend. I could have stayed and looked a little longer but they were done long before I was.1 -
Welcome newbies and returnees! (((hugs))) to those who need them.
How wonderful for you, Allie! You deserve the best. Enjoy!
That's really fascinating, Machka! Good luck to you. I'm sure they do things like that here too, but I'm not familiar with any of it.
Thank you for reminding me of that, Barbara, because YES... all of my memories with Rich are filled with laughter and so much love.
Btw ladies, PLEASE, please, please look at those obituaries that we were talking about (writing or having written). O.M.G! Here I thought that maybe the funeral home would at least give them a little look-through for typos, but NO! Apparently not. Or at least in this case, not. It makes me just sick that Rich's obituary came out yesterday and there were SO many typos and just straight out mistakes. It was horrendous. I'm talking things like "They had three two, Brian in 1981 and Andrew in 1985." Three two what? Or "He was an auto mechanic, with the Boy Scouts and the American Legion in AV and work at River Hills 76." He wasn't an auto mechanic WITH the Boy Scouts or the American Legion. Those were hobbies and they were mentioned later in the obit. Truly made me sad all over again.
21. Listen to a piece of music without doing anything else... oh my, I do this several times a day, what was one today? Later Tonight by Brian Cultberson is one of my go-tos.
Love and Blessings, Carla, in MN7 -
Carla sorry about all the typos in Rich’s, obituary! I’m very sorry for your loss.

Well I had three street tacos. I added a small bowl of cucumber slices in olive oil, a dash of doy, a splash of ACV and everything seasoning. I had with my Fresca a hearty splash of ACV. No fruit, but awe well, tomorrow is another day. Wearing a necklace I haven't worn in ages. I always felt like it was choking me, today it feels comfortable. Yay.👍🏻
Today a gal is coming over to get some free items I had online. Bandages, a bead holding box, little bead plastic containers, foot cream, and other stuff I let go. I have been going thru drawers and such.

Kirby had this knife that he believes was made by his Dad. The history is a bit shaky. When he had it, it was really. Dull and rusted . I wish I could have thought of taking a “before “ pic. He went to a local jeweler to have his ring resized and noticed the knives that were on display. Come to find out the guy, makes and restores knives. Kirby took his dad’s knife to see what he could do with it. It looks awesome. His dads initials are on the handle, pretty cool.

Hello again!
So that sinus noncovid yuck.....is awful! Came home from brother's with a drippy nose on the 12th. Had fought with bowel issues most of the time there that weren't getting any better. The Toprol had my heart rate between 50-55 and barely getting much higher. I just was not feeling well. Then on Tuesday the 14th I broke out in a major rash from my neck to my knees! OMG! Now not only was my behind sore, my nose sore from blowing, but now I was itching badly. The only thing really different was the Toprol! Called heart doctor, she immediately switched me to carvedilol 2 times a day. She said that bowel issue was the first allergic reaction with the rash following since I kept feeding it to my body. At this same time SIL was/is sick with sinus yuck (so who isn't at work?) I went to bed Tuesday night covered in Cortisone cream and Allegra. Woke up Wednesday still absolutely miserable not only with rash but also sinus yuck. Only good thing was belly was once again happy. The rash didn't clear up until Thursday night sometime. I spent Wed, Thursday, and Friday either sleeping or at work. I haven't been sick in 8-10 years. I haven't had to take more than one allergy pill for a day more than twice in any given year in that time frame. I really was down for the count. No fever, No nausea, No bowel issues, no body aches, no headache, just danged tired and tired of blowing nose! My body just said enough is enough. I have been taking allegra during the day, zyrtec at night, elderberry twice a day (with vitamin C and zinc), and using neti pot twice a day. By Sunday I was finally feeling human again. I managed to do laundry, change bed linens, and clean up kitchen. Other than that I read about all of you and watched tv. I am feeling much better finally, though still have some stuffiness. Better is good though because you know who still isn't at work for more than a couple of hours. Can't change that, so doing the best that I can with a smile!
Heart doctor asked how I was doing with the Carvedilol. I am tolerating it well. I feel better on it as my HR is staying in the 60's now most of the time and actually does accelerate when it should. The only downside is that about an hour after I take it I get dizzy (as in too much to drink dizzy). This only lasts about 20 minutes, so just time the doses so that I am not driving at that time. We are waiting to see if the heart is only acting up under extremes or if it does it more often that I am just not aware of. The monitor will hopefully provide that information. It got mailed back this morning, so should know more in 1-2 weeks. In the meantime, I am to keep following healthy eating and taking current medicines. She said walking was fine, just not inclines. She really doesn't want me pushing the boundries. Something about 24 extra beats in a row that shouldn't have been there when I did the stress test. She is also conferring with the electrical heart doctor that my DH has to determine what to do next. In my mind she(the regular heart doctor) is like the contractor. Her job is to make sure that the house (heart) is sound and working properly. The electrical heart doctor is the electrician trying to find the faulty wire in my house. So in the mean time, I need to be mindful of what I eat, drink lots of water, and quit sweating the small stuffs!
With you all, I learn so much every day. I missed you when I just wasn't on here. Learning about different cultures, foods, traditions, even work situations is amazing! Learning the important things such as planning for whatever the future might be, yet realizing that head first isn't always the best way. Learning self care, grace, and bravery. You show compassion and love in your advise and sharings. I love being a part of this village. We learn and support each other. For now, I am going to try to avoid worrying over the small stuffs that I can't change. You all have shown me that gratefulness and graciousness goes a long way. You have given me ideas that I need to implement in my life and I do though sometimes slower than I could/should.;) Thank you all for being my village!
AUBREY update- She is doing well to the average eye. The stents are the concern as they don't grow with her. She goes back to Boston Children's the first week of June. So that is good news in a backward way. They aren't rushing her back there, so no major concern at this time. I did get to see her and meet her sister, Carly, while visiting my brother. It was just for a short time, as Aubrey was just 24 hours on antibiotic for strep, but was so good to see her.
HUGS to all because they are always needed!
Congratulations on the victories!
Keep up with the Self Care and care of others!
Remember to give yourself Grace!
Heading to bed!

Did a body pump DVD, then went to a few stores. Got meringue powder that I needed, looked for any St. Pats day shirts but no one had one that fit me. Work tomorrow.
After doing the DVD walked around the track at the gym. Honestly, it’s a bit boring. One of the things I liked about FL was that there were lots of sidewalks. OK, not everywhere, but there were lots
Went to WalMart. Made a shrimp gumbo, cupcakes for Vince and icing for them. Went for a bit of a walk with Vince.
Mary – I find that I want to drink more water when I have something to eat that is dry (like popcorn) or very spicy
Tina – sounds like a wonderful holiday!
Mary – the problem with diet soda is that you have those artificial ingredients. And I believe it’s aspertame that’s linked to altzheimers
Annie DE – how right you are that the more you drink, the more you need to go to the bathroom. I always say “name the store and I can tell you where the bathroom is”
grandmagigi – welcome! I prelog my dinners for the following week and never had a problem. I don’t have premium
Heather – many years ago Jess did a “behind the scenes” at SeaWorld. She enjoyed (natch) working with the animals
Debbie – I, too, very rarely drink soda. I might have one/year, but that’s about IT. Definitely don’t do the “diet” sodas, and I just can’t justify the calories in regular sodas. I’d much prefer to have water. Unfortunately, around here there’s lots of sweet tea (yuk, and double yuk)
Barbara – glad you’re better now, we were all worried.
Annie – Good job getting those taxes done!
Pip – so sorry to hear this about Lucy. What happens now? How do you get around taking her for walks especially when she needs to go to the bathroom. Neato knife
Got to go take a shower and get reads for work tomorrow

Good evening ladies!
Today I ate 1083 calories, which is a total win, because I visited a friend and messed up my timing but ate the right stuff anyway. Yay!
And I did fifteen minutes on the bike and then the dumbbells Yay! So my deficit was a respectable 381. Yay!
It really feels good to follow my plan. Looking back, I can't believe how many times I chose a mediocre cookie instead of hitting my calorie goals. Until I got my protein and fiber right, I was just too vulnerable to temptation. And getting the bike really helped too, because I can eat a few extra calories and exercise it off without killing my knee. So I'm on a roll Yay!
Sorry if that's too much self congratulations. It's just the endorphins talking. Next I need to practice my Spanish until I settle down.
Pip poor Lucy! Hope she feels better soon. And yes that knife is awesome.
I used to let Teddy out off leash at my last house. One day a deer came by and they were off! He ran his little heart out, but then he came right back. My adrenaline has never been so spiked!
Katla always glad to hear from you.
Rebecca "minimalist in training" love that! I'm more on the hoarding side, within my space constraints. I'm really bad with piles of books and papers. My mother has hundreds of books in the basement, but I've got my own collection going.
Tina sounds like a beautiful dive trip! I used to dive near San Diego. I had a lovely group trip to Catalina Island long ago.
Thanks for all the kind words about my dad's taxes. Now we need to get him a filing system. And one for me! I asked him about needing help with the finances but he is not ready. I'm still thinking about how it would work to share that.
Okay, my friends, have a good night! And good morning to Machka in Oz!
