DH had an appointment with his skin doctor today. His last BCC surgery has healed well, but the doc was concerned about a mark on his eye socket and wants him back in 3 months.

March Action for Happiness:1. Set an intention to live with awareness and kindness. I intend to live with awareness and kindness22. Notice something that is going well, even if today feels difficult. My prep for the art display next week is going well. Most members have already given pieces for display.
2. Notice three things you find beautiful in the outside world.Trees silhouetted against the sky; the appearance of snowdrops in spring; the sound of waves breaking on the shore.
3. Start today by appreciating your body and that you are alive. I meditate on this each morning when I wake up, and am grateful for each new opportunity to have a good day.
4. Notice how you speak to yourself and choose to use kind words. Positive affirmations are very powerful. Be kind to yourself, always.
5. Bring to mind people you care about and send love to them. We chatted with our girls about other family members, and raised a glass to them.
6. Have a ‘no plans’ day and notice how that feels. I will do this tomorrow (7th)
7. Take three calm breaths at regular intervals during your day.Resisting the temptation to plan my day. Serendipity reigns today.
8. Eat mindfully. Appreciate the taste, texture and email of your food. ✔️
9. Take a full breath in and out before you reply to others. I’m a great advocate of deep breathing, and find this works well.
10. Get outside and notice how the weather feels on your face.I wasn’t looking forward to going outside this morning as we had snow overnight and it seemed very cold. However, the sun shone in a clear blue sky, and the wind had dropped right down again, and I spent time with my eyes closed feeling the heat on my face before I went into the centre for Latin Study.
11. Stay fully present while drinking your cup of tea or coffee. Always! Gives me calm thinking time.
12. Listen deeply to someone and really hear what they are saying. When I tried to do this with DH this morning, he got distracted by a discussion on What the Papers Say on TV. 😝 However, we often have in-depth discussions, usually over lunc and dinner.
13. Pause to watch the sky or clouds for a few minutes today. The sun was valiantly trying to break through rain clouds just after sunrise, but the forecast is for heavy showers, but I’m watching the blue patches in hope that it clears up.
14. Find ways to enjoy any chores or tasks that you do.Doing the task isn’t the problem 😝 It’s getting started that’s difficult. I sometimes put on my favourite music, or listen to a podcast.
15. Stop. Breathe. Notice. Repeat regularly. Having coffee after putting away the week’s groceries. There is pink blossom on my prunus purpurea, magnolia buds are beginning to colour up, tulips and daffodils in the containers outside the window are beginning to bloom. There are lots of little birds flitting about in the trees. Spring is doing its best to banish the winter cold. This is a regular joy in my life.
16. Get really absorbed with an interesting or creative activity. I am preparing some paintings for a display of my Monday Painters work
17. Look around and spot three thing you find unusual or pleasant.Today it is more like autumn tha spring. There is a thick sea mist. My usual view of countryside is reduced to about 500 yards. Everything looks damp and grey.
18. If you find yourself rushing, make an effort to slow down. Took things slow and easy today. Planning to do the same tomorrow as it’s Mother’s Day in UK.
19. Appreciate nature around you wherever you are. My writing desk has a lovely view of the countryside beyond houses. And there are lots of bird life flying about amongst the trees in the neighbouring gardens..
20. Focus on what makes you and others happy today. My writing, and my art always makes me happy, and sharing it with like-minded people makes them happy. That means that today was filled with focusing on what makes myself and others happy.
21. Listen to a piece of music without doing anything else. ’Love Affair’ - Rainbow Valley. (NOW! That’s 60’s)Hubby came home and disturbed me 😝23. Tune into your feelings, without judging or trying to change them.
24. Appreciate your hands and all the things they enable you to do.
25 Focus your attention on the good things you take for granted.
26. Choose too spend less times looking at screens today.
27. Cultivate a feeling of loving-kindness towards others today.
28. Notice when you are tired and take a break as soon as possible.
29. Choose a different route today and see
what you notice.
30. Mentally scan your body and notice what you are feeling.
31. Discover the joy in the simple things of life.

Welcome newbies and returnees! (((hugs))) to those who need them.
Miss Pip, your poor puppy. Give "her" (sorry, idk) big hugs for me and Harley. "We" just donated. That is SO COOL that Kirby was able to have that knife restored! It looks awesome.
Oh man, Allie, I am so sorry. That would be tough to watch. Glad you have that handsome man to make you smile.
And I did my good deed. One phone call and 24 hours later and Rich's obituary is absolutely beautiful. I had to do it, ladies. I called the funeral home and begged the director to call the family and correct the details. It was just heartbreaking the other way. It had to be done. Today the obituary is wonderful.
22. Notice something that is going well, even if today feels difficult... actually today was a really good day, something that doesn't happen often; I'll take it!
Love and Blessings, Carla, in MN8 -
Annie I was at the shop.....it was his sister who couldn't be there because SHE didn't feel well.
Kelly I love your memes on the bathroom. I totally relate but mine are coworkers not toddlers!
Margaret I LOVE musicals! I am glad you had a good time.
Rough day at work, Same $h!t different day.....Would have loved a glass of wine with dinner, but unsure of new heart medicine so abstained. Did get paperwork sorted, shredded, and now moving to paying a couple of bills for home.
Healing thoughts!
Loud Cheers!
Lots of Love,

I spent time watching TV with DH this evening. He loves westerns. We saw Gunsmoke & WellsFargo. DH is tucked in and asleep. I am now watching a rerun of Dr. Oakley, Yukon Vet. I love critter shows, veterinarian shows, including wild animals and domestic ones. I like zoo shows, too.
I don’t currently have my own pet, since the loss of my sweet old dog, Schooner. I hope for a future that includes a new puppy.

Machka - congratulations on the job news.
I would like to do the 9 days or even better a 4 day work week. If I’m already at work staying another couple hours wouldn’t hurt to make up for the hours
Lanette - I used to fret and worry myself sick. Even had a few panic attacks. When we lost our truck and house and then I got fired when DH was working. We survived and learned a lot from it. I rarely worry now because it always seems to work out.
It’s a nice lesson to learn in life.
Pip - your smile hasn’t changed. You were a cutie.
I love your decoration style. You have an eye.
Mary - Congratulations on the loss.
Karen - how is your wife doing without the meds?
Ginny - there has to be some positive about having to use the washroom frequently. Steps is positive.
Allie - that’s annoying on your last night. Hopefully your neighbour goes to sleep early.
Mary - my Mom’s doctor told her if she insisted on having a pop a day to make sure it wasn’t diet. She is a diabetic. He believed that the damage diet drinks do to the brain is not worth it.
I personally never liked the taste of diet drinks so this wasn’t anything I read up on or researched.
I for a couple years in 2018-2019 quit drinking coke and aimed for 2L of water a day. I personally, only like plain water and ice cold.
I would make sure I had 500ml before 11am. The next 500ml before 4pm, then one with supper and one in the evening.
I did have a can of coke on Sunday’s with my weekly bag of chips. (Small bag)
When I hurt myself in 2019 I let it all go and I’m trying to bring those habits back now.
Machka - I think that one of the large telecommunications companies here uses that style to allow for staff to have different experiences.
Annie - would your Dad allow you to review his statements or online account? Just so you might notice something out of whack?
You’re doing so well! You should shout it from the rooftops!
Kelly - a coworker of mine today was looking very tired. She has 3 young girls 6-8–11 i think. The youngest has never slept well even as an infant. She still never sleeps through the night and she has now started getting terribly upset about even going to bed. They tried everything and finally after a few months decided last week, let her watch a show maybe she’ll fall asleep. Well! This little girl decided to send her parents videos of how upset she is. She is laying in bed crying, telling her parents how much she misses them, telling them how upset she is and even took a selfie with a tear running down her cheek. My coworker said I go up to settle her and lay with her until she falls asleep and she is still sobbing in her sleep. I have never heard of this before. If you have any suggestions I would love to help her out with something to try. She does have sleep apnea and has had numerous sleep studies. The only thing is the sleep apnea.
Although I’m sure that would be scary as a little girl.
Heather - I suffered terribly with postpartum depression after Kaitlyn was born. It lasted 5 years when I told Rodger how I was feeling he made me go to a doctor. I hadn’t told anyone before that because I didn’t know how to verbalize it. I didn’t know that was what was wrong.
I’ve since learned it is very common in my family so I watched my daughter very closely and had her go to a doctor as soon as I started seeing signs.
Debbie - I keep trying to find something DH and I can do together too. Our schedules aren’t meshing well and that’s making it more difficult.
It doesn’t look like that will change this summer either.
Lisa - I shudder at the mice. We had a terrible infestation one time and I grew up with them. Ewwww
I am excited for the weekend. Our eldest and the Grands are coming for a sleepover. Her DH is going on a men’s retreat and I know she absolutely hates being alone at night so when she asked if they could visit for the day I extended the invitation for the sleepover. On Sunday her, I and the kids are going to Kaitlyn’s to get the jam that I’m still being teased about!
I went out for supper last night with a former coworker. It was nice to see her.
I am in a lot of pain from the massage on Monday night, but I’m doing the exercises and hopefully things ease up soon.
Tracey in Edmonton8 -
Tracey we’ll both be trying to get back to better habits than. I realized today that I have to set up a schedule like you. I am not able to drink as much as I should on my own. Tomorrow I’m going to schedule drinking times throughout the day!

Had a cup of coffee a few hours before class. Not sure if that is what helped but I was able to pretty much keep up for the full hour of Zumba(and almost every song was fast). Got 8000 steps during that hour!
It is now after 10PM and I am not very tired yet. Hope I can sleep tonight.
I am off tomorrow(my usual day off from Ezie) Dh and I will go shopping.
The great deals at Safeway I will pick up will be
Pork chops- 88cents a pound
Ground beef 1.88 per pound
The thing is, you have to buy in a 6lb or more pack. I have no room in my freezer so will be sharing with friends.
Need to go to another store- Smart and Final or FoodMaxx- to pick up a bag of salad. I bought a 3lb bag last Thursday and finished it today. Have been enjoying huge salads with various toppings.
I usually do great during the summer eating salads but not this time of year. Trying to keep great toppings so that really helps. Crispy onions from 99cent store and little avocados 3/$1. Then grilled chicken, tuna or ????1 -
Regarding drinking water and trips to the toilet ... I really don't mind getting up and going every 1-2 hours.
I'm supposed to stand up and move about once an hour anyway.

We had a lovely evening yesterday. We set off just after 4 pm for our walk to the fish restaurant. Damp and grey, but the noise of the rolling waves on the grey/brown sea was hypnotic. One advantage of a shingle beach.
I so love The Regency. It feels like an old-fashioned continental place, with really experienced waiters of the old school, and simple, but perfect food. I find I can relax there, because I know they have it taped. I really appreciate professional service.
We both had hake with capers, and boiled potatoes. They give you a little salad with it. It's always fabulous. Old fashioned, traditional food. We had a glass of house wine each and really enjoyed chatting. I think we both felt relaxed.
Then off to French Circle. The woman we met a couple of times ago was there and came to sit with us. I took a risk and asked her if she wanted to swap contact details. So I gave her my email and phone number. She said she would be in touch. We will see. She lives in walking distance of us, but a bit further west. We all wandered back to the buses together, but DH and I caught an earlier one. We were back in time to watch our favourite TV programmes.
I would love to have a local friend, but it's difficult to find one.
Today is painting afternoon.
I bought DDIL an email voucher yesterday for a beauty salon treatment, maybe a full pedicure. I haven't heard from her if she's got it. I hope I gave them the right email address. I also posted a hand-painted card I made last month. Got to treat your DILs.
Sun is streaming in the front bedroom. Hooray!

I've been working a 9-day fortnight for almost 2 years and I really don't want to go back.
I spent years and years working 2 or more jobs or working and going to school at the same time ... I figured it was high time I had a bit more time for other things!

Debbie – I, too, very rarely drink soda. I might have one/year, but that’s about IT. Definitely don’t do the “diet” sodas, and I just can’t justify the calories in regular sodas. I’d much prefer to have water. Unfortunately, around here there’s lots of sweet tea (yuk, and double yuk)
Got to go take a shower and get reads for work tomorrow
Michele NC
Sweet tea is not a thing around here. Only available maybe at Popeye's Chicken or one of the few Cajun places
The first time I had it was when I lived in Mobile,AL. It is different when you are only used to unsweetened tea. Dad would have loved it- He always added a spoon full of sugar to his tea(even the little cups of tea at the Chinese places.
Iced tea should be sweet ... but hot tea doesn't need sugar.

Rebecca "minimalist in training" love that! I'm more on the hoarding side, within my space constraints. I'm really bad with piles of books and papers. My mother has hundreds of books in the basement, but I've got my own collection going.
Tina sounds like a beautiful dive trip! I used to dive near San Diego. I had a lovely group trip to Catalina Island long ago.
Annie in Delaware
I would love to have less, but the mister just keeps accumulating stuff. There is a corner of one (mostly unused) room in the house full of his unfinished projects. On our trip, he bought yet something else that is just going to collect dust. It is irritating.
Catalina is nice, but the water is just so cold in Southern California. It stopped being enjoyable for me.
Why did you stop diving?
The mister is extra cranky today. He is having a procedure done to see if he has any heart issues. I can't remember what the procedure is called, but I suspect it's similar to one Kylia is having??? I'll find out more when he gets back. He finished all the other tests at the end of last year, but it took this long to schedule this final one.

Angiogram?
Both my husband and I have had that.
They went in through his groin, but in through my wrist.

Rhody goes after lizards. Occasionally he catches one and carries it around in his mouth till we rescue it. More often he ends up just getting the tails which twitch around independently of the body of the lizard for a little while.

Mary – the problem with diet soda is that you have those artificial ingredients. And I believe it’s aspertame that’s linked to altzheimers
Michele NC
Myth:
https://www.alz.org/alzheimers-dementia/what-is-alzheimers/myths
https://www.alzheimers.net/these-things-do-not-cause-alzheimers
And especially this article ...
https://www.healthline.com/health/aspartame-side-effects
Acceptable daily intake levels of aspartame
The acceptable daily intake (ADI) is usedTrusted Source as an estimate of the amount of aspartame that can be consumed every day over a persons entire lifetime (the general population, including all age ranges and physical conditions) without any adverse health outcomes or side effects.
The ADI recommendations from the FDATrusted Source and EFSA for aspartame are:- FDA: 50 milligrams (mg) per kilogram (kg) of body weight
- EFSA: 40 mg per kg of body weight
To put this into perspective for a person weighing 150 pounds (or 68 kg), the below is what would have to be ingested to meet the FDA ADI:- more than 18 cans of zero sugar soda per day
- 3,409 mg of aspartame — or roughly 92 packets of Equal — per day

I am doing this Happiness calendar for March. Feel free to copy or simply use it if you’d like!
March, 2023 Action for happiness.org
RVRita1. Set an intention to live with awareness and kindness. I intend to live with more awareness and kindness every day.
2. Notice three things you find beautiful in the outside world.
Sky, sand and ocean
3. Start today by appreciating your body and that you are alive.
Yesterday's 54 km bicycle ride and 5 km walk on the beach ...
4. Notice how you speak to yourself and choose to use kind words.
5. Bring to mind people you care about and send love to them.
6. Have a ‘no plans’ day and notice how that feels.
The only plans we had yesterday was a stroll through a neighbouring arty town to look at the shops.
7. Take three calm breaths at regular intervals during your day.
I do box breathing at some point just about every day.
8. Eat mindfully. Appreciate the taste, texture and smell of your food.
9. Take a full breath in and out before you reply to others.
Many times.
10. Get outside and notice how the weather feels on your face.
Afternoon walk ...
11. Stay fully present while drinking your cup of tea or coffee.
Not so much today. But usually.
12. Listen deeply to someone and really hear what they are saying.
Haven't talked to anyone other than husband today.
13. Pause to watch the sky or clouds for a few minutes today.
Love watching the sky. Our house is especially well located for that, and at certain times of year, we get fantastic sunsets!
14. Find ways to enjoy any chores or tasks that you do.
Laundry! I don't mind doing laundry.
15. Stop. Breathe. Notice. Repeat regularly.
That's about all I can do today. I haven't done anything which requires effort.
I looked up the vaccine I had yesterday. Boostrix: diphtheria-tetanus-acellular pertussis (whooping cough). I am set for 10 years!
But headache, tiredness, body aches, sore joints and nausea are common side effects ... which I am experiencing.
My doctor also informed me that the antibiotic "cocktail" I've been prescribed will make me feel ill and give me a horrible taste in my mouth. But it is only for 5 days and should do the trick.
16. Get really absorbed with an interesting or creative activity.
I've been colouring these days because I'm not allowed to do much more. Fortunately, I enjoy colouring.
I've also been putting away laundry and rearranging a closet.
17. Look around and spot three thing you find unusual or pleasant.
The place is slightly neater and cleaner than usual. That's both unusual and pleasant. February was major house-cleaning month, then we went on holidays so the place is still clean.
I'm at home, surrounded by things I like.
There are photos I have taken recently showing on my second computer screen.
18. Have a 'no plans' day and notice how that feels or If you find yourself rushing, make an effort to slow down.
Today, I casually worked my way through part of the garden, catching up on some of the weeding.
And we went for a short 10 km bicycle ride.
And I've been colouring.
19. Cultivate a feeling of loving-kindness towards others today.
20. Focus on what makes you and others happy today.
Walking - 3.57 km
Cycling - 10.27 km
21. Listen to a piece of music without doing anything else.
I have music on all day. Most times I'm doing things, sometimes I'm not.
More cycling today ...
22. Notice something that is going well, even if today feels difficult.
I was warmly welcomed back!!
And immediately swamped with work! It's going to be a challenge but it's nice to have a certain degree of freedom - autonomy!
23. Tune into your feelings, without judging or trying to change them.
So many feelings.
I've just started this new job so there is excitement and nerves going on.
And it is the 5th anniversary of my husband's accident. I cried a while last night.28. Appreciate your hands and all the things they enable you to do.
29. Focus your attention on the good things you take for granted.
30. Choose too spend less times looking at screens today.
31. Appreciate nature around you wherever you are.
32. Notice when you are tired and take a break as soon as possible.
33. Choose a different route today and see what you notice.
34. Mentally scan your body and notice what you are feeling.
35. Discover the joy in the simple things of life.

Barbara-Glad you are back and getting over the crud. We are all being reminded there is more stuff to make us ill than Covid!
Kylia-You have had your plate full. Glad you are getting heart checked out thoroughly. The cold that has been going around is beastly. I figured you kept working and SIL didn't.
Pip-Lucy is lucky to have you and Kirby! Nice knife.
Annie-if your dad is open to keeping the financial stuff more organized maybe you can learn more about the stuff by offering to help him with than on a regular basis. As you organize you at least get an idea of what is what-and perhaps hook into that the need to keep passwords organized.
Machka-thanks for the explanation-that is a really interesting approach for employment.
Disturbing work eventReceived call Tuesday am there was explosion and fire at location we are remodeling. I was waiting on retirement until that project was finished. Moving close to finish line after several setbacks. Workers were moving propane tank and dropped it. Exploded. Huge concussion-literally lifted roof up off building that was nearly finished. Front and side of another building caught fire (luckily buildings are brick and cement block construction. Two of the workers suffered significant burns and are in hospital for at least a month but they believe they will make it. Waiting to determine next steps-but engineer believes building with lifted roof can be saved. I am so grateful that the construction workers are doing ok so far. However, later that day I received news one of our supervisors passed.
Current health stuff:After the events on Tuesday when I did finish work I went for my walk to relax. Walking back up my drive and stepping onto my porch both legs were hit with horrendous cramps-both calves and thighs. Caused me to fall (not support). Sat on porch for about 10 minutes to stretch out so I could stand up and make it into house. Have no idea what is up with that. Will contact doctor today. I checked with Endo yesterday and he doesn't think those cramps are related to current thyroid stuff but definitely thinks it needs checked. Legs are still sore and a bit tingly.
Regarding thyroid stuff he wants me to retest in 5 weeks and I am getting a PET scan. He thinks the raise in my tsh (which is strange when you are on suppression) may be a result of Covid messing with my system so we will check the trend and see if PET shows anything.
Feeling a bit tired and old today! Lots of things to sort out. For today I will go to work and call my doctor. Need to arrange some time off soon so I can really reflect on things.
Thanks for "listening" to to my whine-I know that others have things much worse.
Take care all,

Good Thursday
Ginny oH NO! The explosion made our news. Not good on leg cramps either. Ask about magnesium. That is one of the signs of a deficiency. I would rather have a migraine than my legs cramping. Time off sounds good.
Someone mentioned positive cologuard test.. .
My colon doctor said false positives are really common! Like out of 200 positives only one was actually positive. Really disliked colonoscopy, but mine came up pretty, and I had two days off work.
So far my heart tests have been noninvasive. Not sure what is next, but electrical heart doctor called yesterday to set up appointment. I missed call so will call back this morning.
Tracey Love your positive spins!
Need to go pay bills. I would love a 4 day work week or even what Matchka has.
Hugs to all!
Appreciative of you all!
Stay safe and make the best decision you can at the moment!

So sorry! That's terrible for the people involved!
Massive legal and workers compensation battles for years ahead!! I hope you won't be involved in that part.

If I were you, I would just simply go to a 9-day fortnight. With the health issues you're having, you need less stress.
