Driving to Atlanta this morning, about 80 miles. I will take the back roads. It has been 3 years since I've done this. I will be returning today as well. There will be quite a bit of traffic. I tire easily and I hope I have the stamina to do this.
I hope I get a second wind, and a third wind ect ect.
Best,
Rosemarie from GA13 -

Rosemarie - Safe travels! I've driven in Atlanta - too many people in one place for me...
Heather/Rori - So exciting! Can't wait for deets...
Annie - I love hearing your own enthusiasm about your accomplishments, so keep them up, dear heart. There are few enough cheerleaders in our lives, and how would we know what to cheer if you didn't tell us? Love watching your progress. Your success is that you don't stop--while you may stop one exercise momentarily to let yourself heal, you always go back. I look forward to your posts.
Machka - I know, right? I was thinking of Rhody when I snagged that insanely cute image... I've been yearning after getting a kitten, but Corey thinks it would be too hard on Egg to introduce another cat. I go back and forth.
Hearts go out to the folks in Mississippi who got pounded by a tornado yesterday - hope none of our people were in that path. I don't think we have any new people from Mississippi, but not completely sure.
Weird night for me - Corey was arranging the covers for himself about 3:30 a.m. and smacked me in the face--not hard, but it scared the snot out of me, and woke me from a dream. I was teaching older kids on a bus the words to Lee Greenwood's "Proud to be an American," while showing them how to part their hair quite specifically on the left so that the cult leader wouldn't be mean to them later.
Living inside my head is not recommended for the faint of heart.
Been writing over on the blog, but not necessarily finishing pieces--the brain fog from the meds cuts in and I lose my train of thought. Lots of interaction this last week with the VA and the Social Security Disability people. I have to remember to ask our new lawyer about whether he works with SocSec appeals.
Time to go rustle up some breakfast and then put a grocery list together for Corey for later shopping. We're supposed to have dry, sunny days all the way up to Thursday of the upcoming week. Hope so! The yard is swampy as all get out, and needs to dry out. Hopefully will get my clematis planted this week.
Later, my dears,
Love,

Happy Saturday Peeps!
"Peeps" is taking on a whole new meaning at my house, lol. All the "chicks" are doing great. Growing fast. Personalities developing, easy to name now. I did a little more research. The Rainbows are actually Rainbow Dixie. That would be Thelma and Gladys. Dixie chicks, imagine that. They will lay colored eggs, colors can vary. Stay tuned, I should know in 5 or 6 months, lol.
And the Copper Marans are a French breed that lay dark chocolate eggs. Alma and Fairy. These chickens have feathers down the outside of their legs!
Evie - how fun to hear about your cousin's chickens also being named after relatives! Sounds like you had a good time with your grands, bath and all. I remember when the youngest was born.
Rori - Glad you are over the crud. You are off to a running start with your new friend J, back with your "boys" and a trip planned over in Heather's direction.
Speaking of "boys", when we lived near Seattle, my DH's landscaping crew did some work for KC Jones, the Seattle Sonics coach. We became friends with his wife Ellen and DH would run over and do handyman things for her since KC was on the road a lot and not handy anyhow, lol. Anyhow they invited us to a Sonics game and we briefly met some of the team. I was amazed - now those fellas are some BIG boys! DH and I are both pretty tall and we felt like midgets.
Rosemarie - I was thrilled to hear you are off to visit your son and see his place that you weren't able to see before. Enjoy every day and every new experience now. I sense my DH cheering me on many times, happy and proud of me. The way he was when he was feeling good and we were young and full of fun and ideas.
Kylia - sounds like they are getting your ticker figured out. Very glad to hear you are getting more "me" time. You handled the work situation just fine. Gorgeous granddaughter and super cute dress. Have a safe trip to Kentucky.
Pip - nice knife display, beautiful presentation. The check is going out in today's mail.
I was pretty draggy yesterday, not much sleep since I was up the night before checking on the peeps a lot. Peeps did fine. Doing much better today, got 8 hours in.
Another chilly and rainy day, mixed with a little snow maybe. I need to get my new little mower out of the Subaru. Still had some $$ left from my tax refund, so got a Stihl battery operated push mower. To do little spots here and there and save getting out the big mower. Plus, I'm really looking forward to the exercise. Walking behind a mower like that has to be better than half an hour on the treadmill. Plus no gas fumes with this one. With the price of gas for the big mower, this little thing will pay for itself in a couple years since I already have the batteries.
That's the quick catchup.
Make it a fabulous weekend, ladies!

Sometimes we say, "Hove, actually." Except we say it like a much younger Queen Elizabeth, "ectually".
Loving all the children and grandchildren stuff. Evie , that was some long day!
Had a chat with my butcher and he is going to see if his wholesalers stock guanciale and pecorino. Worth a try. Bought pork pie, Scotch eggs, and game mix for a stew.
I popped into the off licence next to the newer grocer (which I haven't been into for years!) And was surprised to find the grocer in there. I had no idea they owned it! It burned down a few years ago and was closed for ages. I bought our favourite Breton cider.
The deli yeilded more delights, including smoked chicken breast for sandwiches.
Just about to poach the smoked haddock and boil a couple of eggs.
Then rowing!

Grandchildren are a gift. I am lucky to have five—1 wonderful granddaughter and 4 boys. Two of the boys are our son’s & the other two are our daughter’s. One grandson loves horses, and so do I. I hope to find a place where he can take lessons and someday we can ride together. 🐎

Gardening My DH was going through his ‘might need this someday’ pile and found a box with potatoes in it that had grown sprouts! So, I took and planted them all in one of my buckets and will see what happens. I’ve grown potatoes this way before but never in a container. I also planted some pepper seeds yesterday. I got 2 new buckets from the rancher we are friends with along with manure, so will freshen my other pots and start 2 more. Surprisingly, The pot I had lettuce in last year sprouted red and green lettuce already and enough for us to eat! I had a salad one day and we used some in sandwiches another. I only cut them down and low and behold, they have re-sprouted and growing new leaves! I also planted more lettuce seeds in that same bucket. Obviously it is perfect for lettuce! LOL. Another bucket I have a mini-carnation that a camper left on a table about 2.5 years ago. Put it in bucket and thought whatever happens, happens. This too has gone crazy! Stays green all winter and is full of buds again this spring! That bucket I have mums from last fall planted in which have grown new leaves, oregano, which has leaves but doesn’t look too healthy, and some parsley that made it through the winter!
In two weeks, I buy 3 tomato plants, 1 pepper plant, and Italian herbs for a mix, also more parsley. When that is all planted, I’ll take pictures. By then the carnations should be blooming. I’ll take a pic of the lettuce later today.
Enjoy the spring! And be thankful for the little things!

Good morning, ladies. Totally agree with Katla. Grandchildren are truly a blessing. I have 5 (2 boys and 3 girls). Enjoy spending time with them whenever I can.
Had a phone call from my SIL last night. She is struggling with trying to lose weight and I think is feeling overwhelmed. I don't know what she weighs but would guess over 350 pounds so has a substantial amount to lose. Her dr suggested Ozempic and she wanted my thoughts as she knew my sister who is diabetic started using Ozempic in January. My SIL needs to at least get some of her weight off. She is 65 and needs knee replacement surgery. Has met with an orthopedic surgeon who told her no to surgery unless she drops a substantial amount of weight.
I suggested she follow her dr's advice and give Ozempic a try. I think if it helps her lose some weight, it might be the motivation she needs. I'm hoping she can get this under control.
Snowing here this morning! I thought it was spring....stupid weather. My thoughts go out to the people in the states dealing with hurricanes.

Rosemarie ~ I have not driven through downtown Atlanta since my mom passed 4 yrs ago. Getting on the expressway and lane changing terrifies me at this point. Too many semi's and fast moving traffic. Ugh! Hope you manage well today and I will be thinking about you. Is this the first time you have been to your son's? Enjoy.
Lisa ~ I too keep going back and forth wanting a cat or puppy. Cats can take care of themselves much easier than dogs so that is probably what I will get at some point...righ now DH says NO!
Rori ~ How nice that you have met your neigbor and y'all seem to mesh. Hoping for many more happy meetings.
Lanette ~ Is one of you chicks a rooster? Don't you have to have a male? Guess I'm not up on the reproduction process...LOL
Was going to GS's baseball game today but the rain cancelled it out. We had lots of lightning claps and lots of rain last night but am thankful that it wasn't like what folks in other places are having to go through.

Welcome newbies and returnees! (((hugs))) to those who need them.
That knife case is really cool, Pip! The whole display is wonderful. I'm sure Kirby is very pleased.
Scary how they grow up, huh Kylia! She is beautiful. I hope she had a great time. Kolten will be 13 in a couple weeks too. smh.
I'm so sorry Terri. As you say, Carpe diem. Good luck with Jack. I'm sure he'll enjoy his time with Grandma. lol
What a FUN reuse of a cake tin, Heather! Edie and Johnny will love that.

I look forward to seeing your pictures. Carnations are one of my favorites but only the old fashioned ones that smell amazing. I have one plant but have seeds to plant more.
I will be ordering a little greenhouse tomorrow- trying to decide which one I want. Wish I had more room. The two I am looking at are both the same price but one is twice as big. Will keep looking for a better price on the smaller one.
I usually just plant my stuff in mom's greenhouse but that has been a huge disappointment the past few years so just decided to take my birthday money and buy one to have here. I will still get plants from her if they do well. Planning on going up next weekend and if she is ready to plant, I will help her.
All my garden is in pots or two raised beds that mom and dad built for me for my birthday years ago.

Not Lanette but can answer(raised on a farm so know a bit)
No, rooster is not needed to get eggs, only if she wants to hatch out more baby chicks.

love all the talk and pictures of grandkids- None in the near future for me. Son will turn 25 tomorrow, has a girlfriend but no where near ready for anything more than that. Still lives at home which I am totally fine with. Works full time and has a great group of friends that he has had since elementary school. A few are in the Navy and others have moved away but they still stay in touch, online with the ones far away and in person with the ones still here.
Have a ladies luncheon with the ladies from church. They used to have them once a month but now about every 3 months. I missed the last one which was right before Christmas- really wanted to go to that one but it was two days after my reconstruction surgery from the melanoma. They asked us to bring desserts this time(usually a potluck). I made a blackberry cobbler, using up berries from the freezer and mini cinnamon muffins with struessel on top. Used applesauce instead of eggs in the muffins and they are a bit sweeter than I would like but great to see the substitute works and with eggs going for at least $6-7 a dozen, I will use the applesauce I got free when I helped at the food program. I will pick up eggs next weekend when I go up to see mom(at least that is the plan as of now)
Need to pull more things out of the freezers and get them cleaned out- too full and most needs to be jut dumped if no one is going to eat it so I have room for what I do want. One thing I pulled yesterday was another corned beef. Cooked two this last time and none got froze for quick meals for me.
Tonight I need to bake some brownies for my son. I asked him if he wanted brownies or chocolate cake- he said neither. Told him I was going to do one or the other so he picked brownies. He doesn't like a big deal made of his birthday. Never has. He lucked out in school, he was always on spring break for his birthday or it was on the weekend.

Thank you Lisa!
Well I read up on sciatica and decided that I need to keep my back straighter, less hunched, when on the bike. I did twenty minutes today without a problem! My posture could use a lot of work.
Another frequent cause of sciatica is muscle imbalance and I know my right leg is weaker. So I need to keep working on that. And do some piriformis stretches. But the good news is that a lot of sciatica resolves with stretching and exercise.
Meanwhile, there's laundry to finish, and it's time for my next feeding. It's too early to call it dinner.
Have a great day, my friends!

Debbie not sure about needing a rooster, but I did hear that if you play a recording of a rooster call, it will help to produce more eggs. Not sure if that is true or not.

When I was a kid, my parents and grandparents had large coops and raised hens for the eggs. Any rooster than slipped by was destined for supper as soon as he got big enough to eat.

Beautiful sun and blue sky outside but windy and too chilly for me. Wrapped up taxes, waiting for one answer from IRA folks about RMD before filing. Groomed Tumble a little, poor thing I’ve really let her get matted. A half hour at a time is about what we both can tolerate, need to jdi more often and every day. Finally did 2 sets of PT (not yet with dumbbells) for the first time since 3/15. Whew! Then prepped some veggies and a chicken breast, will soon grill the chicken, add the chicken and vegs to packaged, heated, coconut chickpea curry and pour over reheated brown rice. My mouth is watering!
Lisa Oh that precious kitten pic! and I thought my nightmares were weird. . .
Heather happy meeting anniversary plans “Hove, you know” in your best posh voice. You and Rori are going to have a blast!

March Action for Happiness:1. Set an intention to live with awareness and kindness. I intend to live with awareness and kindness
2. Notice three things you find beautiful in the outside world.Trees silhouetted against the sky; the appearance of snowdrops in spring; the sound of waves breaking on the shore.
3. Start today by appreciating your body and that you are alive. I meditate on this each morning when I wake up, and am grateful for each new opportunity to have a good day.
4. Notice how you speak to yourself and choose to use kind words. Positive affirmations are very powerful. Be kind to yourself, always.
5. Bring to mind people you care about and send love to them. We chatted with our girls about other family members, and raised a glass to them.
6. Have a ‘no plans’ day and notice how that feels. I will do this tomorrow (7th)
7. Take three calm breaths at regular intervals during your day.Resisting the temptation to plan my day. Serendipity reigns today.
8. Eat mindfully. Appreciate the taste, texture and email of your food. ✔️
9. Take a full breath in and out before you reply to others. I’m a great advocate of deep breathing, and find this works well.
10. Get outside and notice how the weather feels on your face.I wasn’t looking forward to going outside this morning as we had snow overnight and it seemed very cold. However, the sun shone in a clear blue sky, and the wind had dropped right down again, and I spent time with my eyes closed feeling the heat on my face before I went into the centre for Latin Study.
11. Stay fully present while drinking your cup of tea or coffee. Always! Gives me calm thinking time.
12. Listen deeply to someone and really hear what they are saying. When I tried to do this with DH this morning, he got distracted by a discussion on What the Papers Say on TV. 😝 However, we often have in-depth discussions, usually over lunc and dinner.
13. Pause to watch the sky or clouds for a few minutes today. The sun was valiantly trying to break through rain clouds just after sunrise, but the forecast is for heavy showers, but I’m watching the blue patches in hope that it clears up.
14. Find ways to enjoy any chores or tasks that you do.Doing the task isn’t the problem 😝 It’s getting started that’s difficult. I sometimes put on my favourite music, or listen to a podcast.
15. Stop. Breathe. Notice. Repeat regularly. Having coffee after putting away the week’s groceries. There is pink blossom on my prunus purpurea, magnolia buds are beginning to colour up, tulips and daffodils in the containers outside the window are beginning to bloom. There are lots of little birds flitting about in the trees. Spring is doing its best to banish the winter cold. This is a regular joy in my life.
16. Get really absorbed with an interesting or creative activity. I am preparing some paintings for a display of my Monday Painters work
17. Look around and spot three thing you find unusual or pleasant.Today it is more like autumn tha spring. There is a thick sea mist. My usual view of countryside is reduced to about 500 yards. Everything looks damp and grey.
18. If you find yourself rushing, make an effort to slow down. Took things slow and easy today. Planning to do the same tomorrow as it’s Mother’s Day in UK.
19. Appreciate nature around you wherever you are. My writing desk has a lovely view of the countryside beyond houses. And there are lots of bird life flying about amongst the trees in the neighbouring gardens..
20. Focus on what makes you and others happy today. My writing, and my art always makes me happy, and sharing it with like-minded people makes them happy. That means that today was filled with focusing on what makes myself and others happy.
21. Listen to a piece of music without doing anything else. ’Love Affair’ - Rainbow Valley. (NOW! That’s 60’s)Hubby came home and disturbed me 😝
22. Notice something that is going well, even if today feels difficult. My prep for the art display next week is going well. Most members have already given pieces for display.
23. Tune into your feelings, without judging or trying to change them. I am fully in the moment, relaxing, and contemplating what I will have for breakfast, and how I will spend my day. DH has gone out for the day so I am free as a bird so to speak. (My natural bent is positivity. I choose to be happy in the moment. I acknowledge all my feelings, but on the rare occasions when I feel down, I choose to count my blessings, put in some music and dance.)24. Appreciate your hands and all the things they enable you to do. I am grateful for all the pleasure I get from working with my hands at my art and crafts.
25 Focus your attention on the good things you take for granted. Positive thoughts are so uplifting26. Choose too spend less times looking at screens today.
27. Cultivate a feeling of loving-kindness towards others today.
28. Notice when you are tired and take a break as soon as possible.
29. Choose a different route today and see
what you notice.
30. Mentally scan your body and notice what you are feeling.
31. Discover the joy in the simple things of life.
