After the "Time Trial" the Garmin Coach training plan become more interesting.
For six weeks now it has been just plain runs. Between 2.5 and 4 miles. Now after the time trial the next week is "tempo" runs, and "pace" runs. So, it should be more fun. The plan has a "Confidence Meter" and it has been solidly in the 'confident of meeting race goal time' but after the time trial it moved down a little. It is still in the green "confident' zone, but a little closer to yellow. I'll keep plugging along and I hope magically some fitness will begin to appear.

Morning all

Only 2 runs to post since last week, I was on my spin bike too though. I missed 3 full days of any exercise as we were following a car rally but plenty walking to watch stages.
I was interested in to posts about VO2 levels and how my level compared to others. In January this year Garmin said mine was 37 and now its at 42. My weight has dropped 24 lbs in that time and I have been either on my spin bike or running almost everyday. With that, I kind of thought it should have increased more but my fitness progress always seems very slow.

79F was going to be the coolest morning this week, so scheduled my speed interval workout this morning. 1 mile WU/CD, 7x2:00 run/recover. It was a little tough, but got through it. Averaged 7:19/mi for the speed intervals. I'm getting better (or worse)...my Execution score went from 1% last time to 2% today 😁. Tacked on a few extra miles at the end to get 7 miles done.

I thought it was going to be nicer this morning also. lol... Hey Scott. Do I see "sarcasm" in your tracker?
🤣🙃🤣
I think I have one of those old phones in my kitchen drawer somewhere!!!! I actually found my razor motorolla one and the charger and started it up just for grins a few months back. How life has changed from those rotary dial phones I grew up with. I remember when the cordless ones were SUCH a huge life changer.
Still plugging along. I saw a rainbow this morning very faint but unusual so ran a little further to watch it a little longer.

Hey @Scott6255 , you improved your workout by 100%! Congrats . Next time aim for 4% completion?
@Mari33a I think that’s a huge VO2max increase IMO. I would definitely be proud of that and the weight loss too! I think when I really lost weight (over 30 lbs) and got my fitness back after having my third my VO2 max only went up a few points.
@tarun_yadavA Cream Puff 5k? Where do you find these races? It sounds like it will definitely be a fun.
@katharmonic I’m glad you could join the race even if you had to walk it! It sounded like fun.
No run for me today, just enjoying reading all the posts .

Great treadmill session yesterday @Scott6255 ! Fantastic speed intervals this morning.
You are doing great with your recovery @katharmonic ! I hear you on walking seeming to take so long sometimes. You're co-workers 3rd place win was an awesome pace and love that so many of you participated in whatever capacity you could. I have all the confidence in the world that you will be back to running in no time. What timeframe did the doctor give you?
Great run @kgirlhart and so glad that the neighbor let you run through her watering hose. I hope tomorrow morning is cooler, as predicted.
You're doing great @chris_in_cal ! When is your race?
HAHAHA regrading the heat. I'm glad your come back is going well @tarun_yadavA .
You are doing great @Mari33a . I wouldn't worry about the VO2Max too much.
You're doing great @SummerSkier !2 -

@Laurz9191 ummm didn't you run and get a big sausage at the end of one of yours? 😂
(Sounds so wrong typing that! Lol !)
@quilteryoyo thank you! 😊
No, not run it before... Been WI several times but never State Fair, or run there. First race of any kind since Marathon in Feb! (God, that feels so loooong ago now!)

@tarun_yadavA Yes, I did and it does . Somehow to my half German mind, cream puff seems way more exotic .4

I haven't felt the best today, again. So, I went down for a true wun on the treadmill. I wasn't sure how far I would go, but wound up with 3 miles. I only ran about 9 minutes total, during some of the commercials. Avg pace was 15:27 min/mile (3.9 mph). Avg HR was 108 with max of 130 bpm.
I think I am just having sinus issues since it seems to be only one side of my nose that is stopped up and one eye watering. I haven't had sinus issues in a while, so this one is getting me down.

Thanks @Laurz9191! I must have missed a sausage race but sounds intriguing I think there should be more food-themed races. The best we have around here is a Chocolate Challenge 5k, which I'm not against at all (although kind of melty in the summer).
@quilteryoyo sorry to hear you've been struggling with sinus issues. It's so tiring to have lingering issues where you don't feel well. Thanks for your good thoughts, too. I'll have another follow-up in 4 weeks so no running until then at least. I feel pretty good so it's getting harder to not do anything.
@Mari33a I agree that that is a great V02 max improvement. I think it's really hard to get higher than 40, at least it has been for me. Not sure how old you are but 42 is superior for women no matter what the age! I think I've been at 42 when I was in the best shape I've been in from marathon and Spartan training, but I can't remember it ever getting higher than that. I just looked and mine is 38 now, which I was guessing it might be even lower (and of course the accuracy of Garmin estimates is questionable and I especially wonder about it for me with not wearing the watch as much or recording activities lately). But regardless that's a great improvement along with your weight loss and you are doing fantastic!

Early morning prework run and my first outdoor run this week. This heat is oppressive and not really getting better anytime soon. Slow and steady is going to be the name of the game for a while.
We had a huge storm last night. Our airport reported 97 mph wind gusts. One of our back neighbors had a tree fall on their house, through the top floor, and into the kitchen. Our other back neighbor had a tree take out their deck. The fence between our houses also blew over. Lots of debris and branches everywhere. When I went out to run it was still dark so I had to walk through some of the messier areas. On the way back I was looking too far down the sidewalk at a big downed branch and stepped on something and rolled my ankle. Down I went. This time I was in the middle of the sidewalk so didn't get lucky enough to land in the grass. Got some lovely road rash on my knee. Sweat is gonna feel great on it. 😉8 -
Welcome @ashtonleigh12! Those lead leg runs are tough! Tell us a little about your running story.
@tarun_yadavA You're headed in the right direction, healing up and getting stronger. Keep plugging away and being smart in your recovery.
@Mari33a I agree with @chris_in_cal, you're doing awesome!
@Scott6255 I can't believe you did sped work in these dismal conditions. You're made of a tougher stock than I!
@kgirlhart These temps are nuts. When it happens in August, it's less of a shock but it somehow feels hotter when it happens in June.4 -
martaindale wrote: »Down I went.
D'oh, the ankle too. Get well soon.0 -

That's too bad.
I'm a big big fan:
But these are prophylactic...not so good once there are issues.

It was a little less hot this morning. I ran 6.25 miles. It was a pretty good run. I saw two skunks today. I saw the first one getting ready to cross the road. I could tell that we would meet in the middle of the road if neither one of us stopped, so I stopped to let him pass. Then as soon as I passed him I looked up and saw another skunk heading right towards me. It was kind of scary, but they were also kind of cute. Other than that it was an uneventful run.

Morning everyone!
Third sleasy 6K in a row.
So far so good
@martaindale - thanks Sarah! 😊
@Laurz9191 LOL 😂
PS: Wisconsin is all German descendants in the US. Probably the best place in the US to do Oktoberfest (won't be a patch on what you're used to - obviously!). But plenty of Bavarian themed places with Beers in Stein glasses, pretzels, giant brats etc etc6 -
Ouch @martaindale 😳😞 97mph winds! That could have been a tornado 🌪️
I guess it could have been worse. Take care!3 -
Thanks @katharmonic ! This morning I seem to be some better. So, fingers crossed it will last.
Ouch @martaindale . Showering probably wasn't fun either. That sounds like some storm and glad you didn't have any more damage than you did.
Thanks @chris_in_cal . I don't think I can use those...I've considered it, but I am not good with snot. LOL
@kgirlhart Seeing skunks would be scary. I'm wondering if the second one was a male pursuing a mate?
Great running.
Nice recovery runs @tarun_yadavA . You are showing great restraint.

I sucked it up and went outside this morning. I froze my hydration pack and between that and the salt tabs, it was hot but doable. 80F feels like 87F at 630 am. I walked the first tenth of each mile and made sure to sip water regularly. I saw a few other runners while I was out. They were also moving slowly and taking walk breaks. Misery loves company.7 -
Sendin the texans some cool thoughts.
Easy after work run. Nice out here.

@martaindale ouch! I hope the knee heals quickly.
We had more visitors in the yard today... but I only managed to get a picture of their butts. 🤣I skimmed through the posts; looks like some good running and adventures going on! Keep it up!
They're still out there, but I don't want to bother them.5 -
Morning everyone!!
4 in 4!
Out drinking tonight at a party... (One of my 'two' before I go on vacation!) ... so about 2.5 pints of beer burned upfront!5 -
I finally got caught up on sleep and jet lag and got out for a 5.5 mile run today. We’ve been doing a ton of walking and sightseeing. I’m in Lisbon - the city of hills.. There was a matching hill to the left and a lady was running up it when I took this picture. I beat her to the top!7
-
Great running in those conditions @martaindale !
@polskagirl01 Cute hedgehog butts.
So glad to see you are able to run everyday again @tarun_yadavA . Also good to see that you are keeping it nice and easy for now. Have fun at your party tonight.
@Teresa502 That looks like a nice place to run, if it were level. Congrats on beating the other lady to the top of the hill. Enjoy the rest of your vacation!
