8 miles this morning. Wasnt' feeling great when I woke up this morning, then I looked at my watch and it said today was speed interval day 😫 Managed to get through it, but it wasn't fun.

@Scott6255 those dang watches! Always pushing us to do things. Like slave masters I tell ya! Glad you are able to do without the meds these days. I am looking forward to that myself...
Today was a 10k according to fitbit and 5.9 according to my watch. I don't honestly care. My goal was to run for an hour since it's my last holiday morning this week when I don't have to rush for work. It was still muggy out but again it seems the further I go the better my body feels overall so I am happy to be doing a little more this month so far.
I was excited as I got some new shoes to try yesterday afternoon but honestly they are going back. I was disappointed in the amount of active energy they had. No spring even tho carbon plate and quite light weight at 5 oz they just did not feel worth the $$. It was a new style to me and I so wish that the styles would quit changing every 5 minutes but I am not shy about trying and returning when they disappoint so I guess it's ok.

I worked a long run in today since we are traveling this coming Saturday. I went to the greenway trail. It was pretty busy, almost like a Saturday, because everyone is off work today. I saw 1 copperhead and a rabbit. I was proud of myself for getting that run done. I really wanted to cut it short but I hung in there and got it done.
How many of my fellow Americans live in places where it is legal to shoot off fireworks? You can shoot fireworks in my neighborhood and they open the stands a week before the holiday. Last night there were a fair number going off. Obv tonight will be the big one, but people around here love shooting off fireworks so we will continue to sporadically hear them for the next several weeks.5 -

I ran Coronado California's "Crown City 5K" this morning.
It was about 58° (15C) to start this morning's fun run along Glorietta Bay. It is a big Navy town, and when I was a kid I was stationed here for a bit. Memories.
I dropped :40 off of my May 5K time. It's from simply having confidence I could run the whole way, instead of worrying.

For exercise I'm laissez faire when tracking, for running and swimming my Garmin does all the work and it's accurate. Sometimes I bicycle for transportation (or to go to a pub) and don't count it, nor steps. I used to do a lot of :90 min -to- 2 hour yoga sessions, which can be very vigorous, and didn't count that.
With food it is all or nothing. 0% or 100%.
I've carefully tracked food for a year and lost 80 lbs. I have the spoons, the cups, scale, etc. I've mastered the old MFP food diary (I miss the free UPC scanning) So I know exactly how to track my food. I simply don't do it for very long stretches.

Controversial, but I may get access to Ozempic in a couple of months. Around October I'm seeing the doctor and I think that might be on my metaphorical plate.6 -

I was able to get to the gym early this morning since my husband was home with the boys. I enjoy morning runs so much more than evenings, but unfortunately that's not in the cards very often at the moment. Today's run felt really good, I was able to shave off another 30 seconds from my 3 mile time.8 -

I don’t have much time to post, but wanted to say great job in your races @eleanorhawkins and @chris_in_cal . I’m up for mine tomorrow evening. There is supposed to be a major storm coming through with lots of rain, wind, etc.. Fingers crossed the storm will come either before or after the races!!!!
Because of my setbacks last month, I am not aiming for a race PR (I’ve run this one a good 5 times or so). I would like to get under 30 minutes to beat my time for last year though. The race is supposedly 5,360 meters
. It’s a very crowded race with multiple loops around the city Center with lots of people cheering- so that’s different than all the other races I do 
. I’m looking forward to it .
Today I ran 6.5km before work. It felt good and it there was a nice cook breeze. So far I have 29.9/150km for July!

Yesterday, I did a 40-minute HIIT workout, had some oatmeal and coffee and then headed to a state park located at the other end of my county. It poured rain on the entire drive there but stopped within a couple of miles of the park. I debated on whether to wear my rain jacket. I ended up leaving it and was glad that I did as it didn’t rain anymore and was so humid. I ran 6 miles. Had to hike some of the hills. The name of the trails I ran were Tunnel Hill, Gorge Overlook, and Purchase Ridge – what can one expect except hills with those names?
I ran at Natural Tunnel State Park. You can see the naturally formed tunnel in the distance. The railroad still runs through the tunnel.

Unfortunately after that, I ended up taking my dad to the ER and spent the night and all of today at the hospital with him. Fortunately, I had running clothes in my car and while he was resting comfortably today, I got out for a 3-mile run around the hospital grounds. Unfortunately, it was already 11:00 am and stinking hot and there wasn’t much shade on the hot pavement. I survived though and kept my 4-day streak alive.
I’m meeting some friends at 5:00 in the morning for a run, working a couple of hours and then heading back to the hospital.
Beautiful views and lovely roses @polskagirl01. That’s awesome that you biked the Great Allegheny Passage. I would love to do that one day.

@martaindale – It’s legal to shoot off fireworks where I live also but I’m so rural that they don’t affect me. My mom was complaining about her neighbors shooting them off until after 11:00 last night though.

I slept in this morning so it was pretty warm by the time I ran. It was 81°F feels like 84° at the start and 83° feels like 86°by the end. I just ran 2 miles and it took me 22 minutes. It is easier to run a shorter run in the heat than a longer one though. So the run wasn't bad, but I don't think I would have been able to go much longer than 2 miles.
@Martindale It is illegal to shoot fireworks off here if you are in the city limits. My house is less than half a mile from the city limits though so we hear a lot. It really only bothers me because it bothers one of my dogs.

Nice running @Scott6255 ! You did great today too. Sometimes speed intervals are "easier" for me - but then I walk the recovery. Glad you got it done and hope you are feeling better.

It is legal for people to shoot fireworks here, so, like you, we will hear them for a few days. I think it is ironic that the volunteer fire departments around here sell them for fundraisers.

Great running @Teresa502 and you are looking good. You've lost so much weight I don't know if I would know you if I saw you....well, I would now that I saw that pictures. I hope you dad is feeling better and gets to go home soon. You are awesome to get some running done on the hospital grounds.

@Teresa502 I highly recommend the GAP trail! Some family members are doing it this week, actually. They said I inspired them. And they wished I could go along... sigh. I'm happy and sad about all of that.
@tarun_yadavA pretzels are definitely a thing in Poland, but not the cheese dipping sauce. My main problems with all these delicious things in the US are the high sugar content and the insane portion sizes. But then stuff tastes so good and it's right there on the table-o-snacks purchased by the grandparents needing to spoil my kids... I'm aiming for some sort of controlled indulgence.
Didn't do much today. Most I accomplished was walking up to my shed (twice) and sweeping out 4 years' worth of dead flies that were all over the floor. Then I sat in my lawn chair and made a grocery order for curbside pickup, that I'll go get tomorrow. Hopefully it will work out correctly, so I don't have to go into the store, haha.
My picture today looks almost identical to other recent pictures... but the sky is pretty.

I got a NSV from a lady who will soon be my new neighbor - she and her husband bought the farm that borders mine. She said, "You look really fit." I like looking fit.
I wasn't feeling the best today either @Scott6255 . I allowed myself to be pretty lazy this morning. When I did feel better, I did a treadmill session, but didn't push it. I did what my plan called for - 10 x (1/1 min at 5.5/3.8 mph). I didn't do the last walk and did a little extra running. I had intended to stop at 1.5 miles, but was already past that when I looked at the read out, so did an extra tenth. Avg HR was 133 with a max of 153 bpm. Not horrible.

Actually the race was a 5K and a 12K. Turns out the overall winner of the 12K was a lady named Jessica McClain. A bit of a rarity. Good on her!

I'm going for 50 miles again. July came in in it's usual style - stormy. Because it was so windy over the past few days I decided to use spin bike and run for rest of the week, 1st run done last night.

Sorry to be a downer... RE: logging calories. You can't do 0 or 100. You don't any marks for a few days on, few days off. Gotta be consistent.

@chris_in_cal great race photo! You look happy and you definitely improved the pace. As far as the other thing. That's up to you. I have totally been in that place where I wanted to drop weight but was just not able mentally or physically to do the 'things'. I am glad you are here and running!
