7/3: 6.25 miles
7/4: 2.04 miles
20.66/115 miles completed for July
I just realized that I typed this up last night but never posted, so here it is.
I ran 6.25 miles this morning. It was a nice enough, but mostly uneventful run. I did catch the sprinklers by the courthouse. I think they are running them a little earlier this summer because most of the time they have just turned off when I run past them.
I am fixing to head out for my run today. Hopefully I'll get it posted later. 😁
Great job on your race @Laurz9191 !

Oh well. Got in a nice 4.52 @ 08"45
@Laurz9191 well done Laura! Killed it 🙌
@polskagirl01 hahaha... Was it you? Lol
Someone has taken preemptive measures here before I get to the US and start uploading pics of Creampuffs, Cheesecake factory et al 🤣5 -
Ran last night and again this morning, got both done just before the rain. I used the 'headlights' tip to help my posture for the last part of my run.

My workplace had a healthy team building "Virtual 5K Challenge" so I ran it for fun to be a team player.
My running big picture is still this Garmin Coach training plan for a Sept. 30th 10K. For the coaching I set a 10K goal of 1:15:00 (Actually 1:15:00 is the slowest 'goal time' they allow to create one of their training plans.)
I just looked at an online race calculator it says with yesterday's 5K time I'm at 1:19:00 10K fitness right now. So, I'll keep plodding along for a few more months.
My mantra? Have fun, keep at it, lose some damn weight, and don't get injured.
July Running Goal: 16 runs, 60 miles- July 4 -3.11 miles 37:51 race clock time
- July 5 -3.79 miles

haha @AlphaHowls that looks more like a bear trap than a nephew. 😂😳😂
Quick check in before my next zoom work call,
Plugging along. My injury actually seems better with increasing the mileage. go figure. I even went a day without any excedrin and only took 1/2 one yesterday mid afternoon at work for a headache coming on vs my back. 😊
@tarun_yadavA are you trying to do pictures from your phone or on a PC. I usually only use my PC for forum stuff.3 -
@SummerSkier phone. But it's never been an issue before0
-
So freaking 🥵
Can't stand to even walk outside to go to my truck.
Eeked out 6 TM miles after work.

@Scott6255 I saw the lady going off course on the news. It was sad because I guess she was focusing on the "lead" motorcycle and so when it turned the curve, she did too. I'm sure she was devastated when she realized what she had done. Great treadmill running.
Great running @kgirlhart .
Great run @tarun_yadavA . Can you ask why it was suspended? I'd want to know what I did.
Your nephew is cute @AlphaHowls ! Enjoy!
Great running @Zaxa2021 ! I hope your run went well tonight.
You're doing great @chris_in_cal ! You'll improve before Sept!
Great running @SummerSkier ! I'm glad your back is feeling better.

Good morning all
Got in 9K (5.65M) at 09"25.
Struggled a bit today... Not knee related. Just got woken up middle of the night; then couldn't go back to bed. Woke up tired. Bloaty. It's hot here today.
Anyways...
Brother visiting from California. Been staying at my Mother's with his family. Think he's family-ed out, so asked if we could go out in London for drinks.
Dammit. Wasn't counting on this calorie splurge tonight.
Aaaarghhhh
@quilteryoyo hope Blueberries were nice! 😊7 -
Nice run @kgirlhart. Glad you got out before it got too hot.
@tarun_yadavA Sorry your run was a struggle. Have fun going out with your brother tonight! The blueberries are delicious!0 -

I haven't posted my last couple of runs. I'm trying to keep up with all of your good running and will post mine when I have a little extra time. I just seem to run out of hours.
Wednesday Mom had an eye doctor appointment in the morning for a 6 month check up. She had a little bit of macular degeneration, but the last two check ups her field of vision has actually improved, which baffles her eye doctor. I did a driveway interval run in the afternoon, when it was hot and humid. I had to stop for a few minutes half way through to cool and rest as I was feeling like I was getting overheated. Anyway, I walked 0.35 miles for warm up, then did 5 x (0.30/0.15 miles of run/walk) then ended with 0.45mile cool down walk for a total of 3.00 miles. My running segments averaged 11:46 min/mile, which isn't too bad for me, considering I wasn't aiming to run fast. My HR was a little higher than normal, with an avg of 139 and max of 161bpm.
Yesterday, mom and I got up early and went blueberry picking at a local blueberry farm. Together, we got about 4.5 gallon - the owner guesstimates how many you pick based on the bucket size and how full they are. He only charged us for 3 gallon. Great deal. If you have never picked blueberries, it isn't an easy, with a lot of stretching and pulling to get to the berries that are higher up in the tree/bush. If I were 10 feet tall, I could have gotten my bucket full in no time. But, alas, only the birds get to eat those. We picked for about 1.5 hours. Afterwards, mom drove home with the berries with a neighbor who had gone too. I went through town and got a new set of tires for my car to prepare for my trip next week.
I was beat when I got home, so rested/napped most of the afternoon. I felt like a slug when I found out that mom had worked all afternoon and put 16 quarts of berries in the freezer. We saved some to eat and they are so good.
Once I got up, I went down for my treadmill run. In keeping with my experimental plan to run faster for 30 min, I walked half a mile warm up, ran/walked 12 x (1/1 min at 5.5/3.8 mph), ran 1:34 min at 5.5, then walked a mile for cool down - trying to add a little extra mileage to make up, ahead of time, for next week. Total "run" was 2.00 miles at avg pace of 12:47 min/mile. Avg HR was 126 with a max of 143 bpm. I was happy with that.
Now off to get a hair cut and work. Have a great day everyone.8 -

Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers for my dad. I’ve been spending pretty much every waking moment at the hospital with him. It’s just too hard on my mom to sit here all day. Thankfully, I can work remotely and be here with him. Yesterday, I took a break around 10:00 am and ran around the hospital grounds again. This morning I got out before I left home for a few miles. The temp was nice (69F) but the 95% humidity was rough.
@quilteryoyo – Being called fit is a wonderful thing and describes you perfectly! Glad your mom is baffling the doctor! Sounds like you scored big on the blueberries. I usually go to a place in Buleah Dean, NC the week of July 4th but they don’t open up for picking until Monday and I’m not sure (a) my dad will be out of the hospital or (b) I want to take a vacation day to pick berries.
@martaindale – Wishing you safe travels and a wonderful trip. Post pictures when you can!
@tarun_yadaV – Did a setting on your phone change? Sometimes my photos get saved as “heic” instead of “img” and those don’t seem to be compatible with much. Have fun with the family!

@chris_in_cal I love fresh berries and veggies in the summer... when you know where they come from. Working for them make them taste so much better. 😉. Are there places in California where you can go pick your own?
Thanks @Teresa502 . You are doing great getting your running in while being at the hospital with your dad. It's great that you can work remotely and be there. I know how stressful that can be though. I hope he gets better soon. Maybe you could come to Greene county for your blueberries this year. They're open on Saturday's, I'm pretty sure.3 -
@quilteryoyo Mmmm blueberries! My parents owned a self pick blackberry farm for a while. They had a few varieties. So good and really spoils you. It took a while before I could go back to grocery store berries. I totally agree homegrown stuff tastes better. We have some tomatoes and basil right now. The tomatoes especially are light years better than what you buy in the store.

Can't believe I am saying this but it was 72F (still 98% humidity) this morning and it actually felt pretty pleasant. It has been blazing hot for the last few weeks so getting something approaching normal summer lows feels like a treat!
Off to Italy tomorrow morning. I'm excited this trip is finally happening.8 -

I ran 2.5 miles for my streak today . It wasn't too bad at 75°F. I was pretty tired this morning. Work has been stressful this week and I didn't sleep well last night. The run helped though.

Hi All! I have been away for a bit that sort of coincided with when I was supposed to have my foot surgery. Instead of foot surgery though, I have had some serious medical issues and had major surgery 2 weeks ago. After about a week in the hospital I am home trying to recover before I start more treatment. In the weeks leading up to the surgery I wasn't feeling well enough to get out much but did try for a couple of walks for my mental health as much as anything. Today was my first post-surgery walk and we got in a bit over a mile. I will say being in pretty good shape has made the initial recovery much easier and I actually got out of the hospital several days earlier than they expected. I also have a wonderful nurse named Hobbes, who refuses to leave my side and prefers to lie as close to me as he can get. I won't be running for a long while - probably not until next year but I am going to walk as much as I am allowed and can manage. I have been reading along and living vicariously through all of you.
@Teresa502 - Sending hugs for your dad. I hope he is feeling better!
@martaindale - have a wonderful time running around Italy!
@tarun_yadavA - if you haven't already I would try closing out the MFP app and restarting your phone. If that doesn't help I would delete the MFP app and reinstall it.9 -

@shanaber – I’m so sorry to hear about your major surgery but very happy that you are recovering so well! We have missed you here. I always thought Hobbes was such a cutie pie but I just love hearing about and seeing his devotion to his mama!

Thought it would be a good day for a run... cloudy, starting to sprinkle, forecast calling for rain all morning. But nope. 81°F, 100% humidity, just a big suckfest. Had to stop after 10.4 miles. Energy just sapped.

@shanaber 💖💖💖💖 the photo of your caretaker!!! and happy to see you back and WALKING!!! Hope you are over the hump and it's all down hill recovery from here.
I did not quite get up early enough to avoid the Tx death star this morning but fortunately early enough that most of the streets were still in the shade.
1 week down for the month and feeling pretty strong. I have been able to start doing situps and pushups again which is a sure sign things are getting back to normal for me. Hoping to be able to do more tennis as the month progresses but it's awfully hot in the evenings after work.5 -
I forgot to start my watch for the first 3/4 mile but it was exactly same as Thursday so will got with that. Boy was it windy though! I felt wrecked afterwards.
