Katla ~ I'm so glad your husband's health is improving and hope you get to take more walks.
Rori ~ Your new gentleman friends sounds really nice.
Michelle ~ Hope your pool party goes well!
Shoes ~ I know I probably need to buy better shoes but am just too stingy. Have been wearing Easy Spirit slip ons for years. I hate to shop so most of my shoes have been from Amazon. When I was first married, I wore a 5-1/2 but now I need a 7.
It's been an expensive last 7 days for us. Bought a new mattress last week and today had to buy a new water heater! Just thankful that we had the money to pay for it.

Lisa ... our siding project is going, slow, slow slow. And that's OK with me because that means neither one of us is going to get hurt trying to rush through something! We're just taking one side of the house at a time and as we pull off the old masonite we get to see the original builder's work... it hasn't been great in some places. So my husband is busy fixing problems as we go along. Had we hired a company to do the siding, they would have ignored these things and just covered them right back up.
Allie ... Myles will get it eventually! My youngest son screamed bloody murder when I would leave him with the babysitter in the church nursery. Each week he sobbed and sobbed unconsolably not allowing anyone to comfort him or touch him. He'd bury his head in the corner, back where no one vacuumed, and cry himself to sleep. Each week the church prayers would include the nursery worker and my son, hoping that this week it was going better. This went on every week for several months. Other mothers (who evidently had perfectly behaved children) asked how I could leave him when he was obviously so upset and my answer was ... this is a battle I have to win. And then one day ... it just stopped... and when I went to pick him up he was sitting on the nursery worker's lab smiling form ear to ear. He is, however, still incredibly stubborn!
Driving my son back and forth to work is already wearing thin and we're on day 2! LOL! It's about 30 minutes to his plant so we're spending a minimum of 2 hours in transporting each day. Then I need to fit in another trip of about 25 minutes to my mother's. Hopefully, this is just a short term problem.

Beth - That's one of the things we plan to do - go very slow, literally one side at a time. Clear the old patio bricks, build the deck, then the 4x4 posts go up, then the roof joists on, then the shingles, then one wall at a time. It will probably take at least a year, but it's not like we plan to go anywhere. Slow is good, much less of a financial burden, and it means it will be done well. If we don't kill each other in the process.
Oh! and I was much like your younger son in terms of stubborn. A story from my mother: When I was about three, my father thought I was old enough to be potty-trained, and my mother was trying her best. So he told her to put me on the potty and keep me there until I did my business. 10 hours later, he walked in from work and found that I was still there, reading books, never did any business. He gave up, and I pretty much potty trained myself when I was ready.
On that pleasant note, today was, without a doubt, the best interaction to get a car repaired ever. I went in with a positive attitude, because I had flipped my thought process this morning to think about it as positive... and, as a result of walking in happy. This meant I was open to engaging the service writer in conversation about lots of geek things - computer codes in cars, television and Amazon subscriptions, for instance.
I also let him instruct me in the extra repair they found needed doing, which was a sensor that needed replacing, with a $550 price tag. Happily, it was covered under the extended warranty we bought with the car. Believe me, I hadn't the foggiest what it did. (Still know only vaguely, but I know more than I did when I walked in!) He was a really nice man, not just to me, to everyone.
And, even better, because they did the warranty work on the sensor, he was able to wiggle the system and charge me absolutely nothing for the code we needed, They reset the whole system for us and even gave us the code in case it happened again. Walked out with a smile and a zero bill. Lessons for Lisa. Start with the positive, you never know what can happen.

Allie-the animals are a great idea for the kids.
Lisa-look at you with the positive attitude and having it all work out! Trying to stay positive does help. Good luck with the room addition!
Beth-I am so glad we own a brick house. I can't imagine doing siding with my husband-but we did tackle some projects when we were younger. Go slow and take breaks when you need them!
Bonhalp-welcome!
Lanette-I'm trying!
Rita-hope son's bonding is positive for him.
Staff member who started in early June had massive stroke over weekend, put on vent, taken off vent Monday evening and passed. In her 40's. Another staff member (longer term) had surgery and they determined endometrial cancer, stage III c. We never know what may happen. . . .
Heading off to bed-have to start tomorrow with a meeting (yay me!).
Take care all,

Got tired of my spices being a mess, not able to find what I want, buying more just to find I had one or two at home.
Put up the backing and racks for a total of $8.
Now I can find what I want and son can find what he wants when he cooks.
I have duplicates on the old spice rack-bought extra McCormick's when Safeway had them on sale, with coupon for .99!! Love the lower sodium Montreal.
Debbie8 -
Good evening ladies!
Debbie your spices look marvelous! Great organization!
Ginny sorry about your co-workers. You are right about never knowing what the future holds. Carpe Diem!
Today I ate 1083 calories, right on target! Yay! I rode my bike for twenty five minutes then did my dumbbells, Yay! And my calorie deficit is 488, Yay!
I hit 1083 on four of the last five days! Maybe I have finally worked out a plan!
I fantasized about being a runner, and shopped for sneakers and smart watches, before I came back to my real body and its current capabilities. I really had a shopping itch, even though my old running shoes are hardly worn. So I bought sweatbands and a gym boss interval timer. That gives me room to grow into HIIT workouts without the complications of a smart watch. Plus then it won't interfere with the music on my phone. And it was cheap.
So I am collecting athletic gear now. I might be an athlete! LoL

Everything went fine at the eye MD She didn’t even dilate my eyes! I think it was more to check the pressure than anything else. Cut the grass tonight. Vince said “it’s nice at night, you don’t sweat” I just said “oh REALLY?”
Didn’t go for my walk because we cut the grass. I did find out (via my pedometer) that I walked about the same distance (2 miles) and took about the same amount of steps
Lanette – from what I understand, Jerry set his tent up behind BK, probably so he can walk to work. One of his problems with like going to the soup kitchen is that he doesn’t drive. That’s why he needs to go someplace that he can walk to work. Before this happened, someone picked him up and drove him home. And sometimes he had to just sit there for hours until someone got off work. Which was why he liked it when I drove him home since I usually finished around 10-11. But after he blew up at me and gave me the finger (I don’t care if it was the beer talking), there is no way I will take him home. Well, there is one way but this won’t happen. If he joins AA and is truly working the program. But that’s not going to happen in this lifetime.
Carol – we had to get a new roof and a new hot water heater lately. Vince kept saying “well, we probably won’t ever have to replace them”...lol
Ginny – I’m so sorry about your staff members. You’re so right, we never know…..
Debbie – love your spice rack. Do you have them alphabetized?
This is prime day at Amazon so I was checking some of their deals. Really, I didn’t see any “deals”. I guess some people feel it is a deal, but I don’t (maybe I’m too cheap...lol)

Still here, just not much to add. Neither happy nor sad these days just meh.
I do better with my zzz's gummies than with the sleep meds doctor prescribed me. I need to get back to eating once a day. I need to get back to going to gym. I need to find my mojo. I was texted by one of my Navy Facebook group mommas. She was asking when I was going to start moderating again. I told her at this time the absence of Navy things is what's keeping me level headed. Not thinking about my Navy son, and thinking on things I can control is key. I still dwell on him, but being part of a Navy moms group is a trigger for me. She understood, because I didn't hem or haw with telling her how I was feeling. Its best to be honest and upfront in all we do, plus leading them on if I was returning or not isn't good either. Hugs ladies.

Allie - Miles is settling in nicely it seems.
I hope you feel better soon.
Ginny - what terrible news on your co-workers.
Michele - I didn’t see any real deals either. Only a couple things that were $2-3 less than normal. I did order them because it was still a little savings.
Michaela is here for tonight and tomorrow night. She is going to kids ceramics camp from 11-1230 today, tomorrow and Thursday. Tomorrow evening she is going to ceramics with me. She is hard to keep entertained, she doesn’t just sit and play a game or watch tv which I love, but if she would for even 1/2 an hour it might be nice.
We crafted this afternoon. She made these for herself and 3 friends. She also started a thing to hang outside it’s actually old CD’s with “gems” glued on.
After our French toast and bacon supper we went to Costco for a few groceries and then went to Dairy Queen. She was quite excited because she got to ride in Grampie’s new truck before Jonah. 😂. When we got home we had a game of Life before bed. We bought it at a yard sale this weekend and it seems it’s missing pieces. I’ll have to keep my eyes peeled for another one, maybe between 2 we will have everything .
I also made three shirts for Rodger today. I’ll put them in a spoiler.

Tracey - It's wonderful when they are creative, but it is full on. Plus expensive!! It does warm my heart though. Edie now has a date for painting her wooden boxes. She's asked me to get lavender, green, blue, and beige paints. Well, I did ask! I do have some 30 year old acrylic paints, but I will have to go through them properly to see which are not completely dead. Some still seem to have some squidge in the tubes.
I'm thinking I might be inspired to paint one of my own.
I still have one that my parents bought me for Christmas when I was seven. I discovered it, covered up, at the bottom of my bed before the day. When it appeared in my Christmas stocking, it was covered in red check Fablon, and contained a sewing kit, with two woven skeins of thread.
My first husband took off the Fablon and painted it for me. Flowers. I still have it, with old jewellery inside.
As my son said the other day, there are no cheap hobbies! As Annie is finding! Money seems to follow them. Watch out Annie!
So glad your Michaela is creative. It's wonderful. Follow your bliss.
Love Heather UK xxxxxxxx
