Beth - I just realized I skipped over your photos of the reseeding and catchup on house residing. I have tried to reseed a few places in my yard and of course that's the first place the hens run to. Mine like scratching in anything that looks like bedding and houses bugs and worms. Shame on your neighbor for not taking your complaint about thir chicken's destruction seriously. Aren't they moving soon? Not soon enough?
You look mahvelous standing there with your rake by the way. What do you charge per hour and are you willing to travel?

Feeling better today. Less wonky. I was able to text with youngest, and eldest on Messenger chat. That was nice. They are good guys, and our conversations flow easily. Poor eldest sailor has been working long days, and his body is screaming at him. My youngest is dealing with wounds on his legs from the heat, his uniform, but he's on antibiotics. Both are in climates not forgiving. The Navy takes such physical tolls. When my eldest lived with us here on Whidbey, he'd come home from work with wounds on hands, arms, knees, and he would just brush them all off. Maybe he'd put a bandaid on them. 16+ years working on helicopters and jets does that I suppose.

Good Saturday morning!
So sad to see bad words used here about our loved ones.
My Grandmother taught me If you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all.
Not sure this is the place for me?

I am currently in emerg, I woke up at 6am because my hand was throbbing. I thought I had just slept on it wrong, throughout the day the pain continued to get worse and I couldn’t hold a pen at the end of it. I tried heat, cold, Advil, Voltaren. Nothing worked, after class Rodger noticed my hand was swollen. He encouraged me to come to the hospital. I’ve been here 6 hours and was told about 5 hours ago it was about a 4 hour wait at that time barring emergencies. There are still 5 ahead of me. I think I’ll be getting home around 4am.
Debbie - your husband had you get up to move the recycling bin instead of going out and moving it himself? That’s beyond inconsiderate.
Just to show there is still kindness in the world. One lady was brought here by a friend after she was punched at her job. They arrived at 3 today. Around 7 he felt that everyone waiting must be hungry so he went and bought a pizza for all of us waiting to have a slice. I haven’t witnessed kindness like that in a long time.

I hope you are feeling better(haven't finished reading all the posts to see if you have updated yet)
I agree, he is inconsiderate. Happens often. I don't think he even realizes it anymore. He is so self centered most of the time that it doesn't even cross his mind how his actions are affecting me. It doesn't help that after so long, I just don't think twice, I just go fix the problem. Yes, he was just getting in the shower when he thought of it but we both would have to put pants on. He just didn't think that maybe HE could be the one to do it.

Finally, after 4 nights of insomnia, I was able to sleep pretty good, didn't take any melatonin. Did take a quick shower because the mosquito was back and I woke up with itchy bites all over. 5 min shower, back in bed and back asleep pretty quickly. Yes, I did wake up quite a few times, like usual but didn't stay awake any of the times.
Today I need to do some baking for potluck after church tomorrow. Need to find a Western outfit to wear- hopefully something will fit well enough
Dishes need to be done, need to clear off a place on the kitchen table to put one of the smaller 3D printers. We have three printing now and he wants to get at least the small one and maybe his other two, all up and running. Need to get lots of things printed before the show Black Friday weekend in SF.
Was going to clean out the catio but will wait until Tuesday- supposed to rain Monday so don't want to put fresh pine pellets in it and worry about the rain ruining it.2 -
I am amazed that we are supposed to be 'nice' and say nothing about a child being raped by its father, or a religious leader abusing generations of children. You should be ashamed of yourself.

Heather - I have business cards too, I always carry a few in my purse in case anyone wants a peek at our ornaments. I get a few views that way.
I’m glad you are feeling better.
Love the paintings. I enjoy a fan brush, I haven’t painted landscapes or anything in years.
Lanette - I love your girls stories each day.
I found my course through a FB ad. I think if it hadn’t of popped up I would have just continued applying for jobs.
Kylia - I hope you have a better day today. I hate when I’m arguing with DH, it just ruins everything.
Hope your granddaughter and daughter figure stuff out soon.
Beth - I missed your post yesterday. Are there bylaws for people who keep chickens? Here in our city there are rules that must be followed. You would think they would have to be responsible chicken owners.
Our project is delayed right now too. I can’t help with my hand and I didn’t have a pay so we need to wait a couple of weeks to finish up.
Barbara - thanks to your detailed post I noticed I had missed Beth’s post.
I’m glad Joe is happy about his Jeep, Rodger was that way with his truck.
I thankfully don’t have anyone selling any MLM right now that I’m aware of. I do like some of the products so if someone has a party I might buy something. I do want a few more pieces of Tupperware modular mates.
I’m with you on the chickens, I’m not a fan of any bird really.
I’ll keep looking for a doctor. As I learned last night at the hospital though our healthcare system is in crisis. Almost everyone there couldn’t get into a doctor. There were no real “emergencies”. On top of that, the hospitals in the city closed their emergency departments because they were overrun. When I left the hospital at 2am the city ones were still closed.
It’s frightening really.
Annie - some tough decisions for your parents will have to be made, I agree with your sister it would be a good time to clear the basement as you would have her there to help and maybe help convince your Dad if he is reluctant.
On the other hand there is enough going on so maybe she needs to commit to come back at another time to do it.
Rita - I have recommended your park to a friend of mine here that is planning on doing some travelling this winter. I showed her your pictures on FB and a few from here. I don’t know if she’s made a decision or not. I loved New Mexico when I drove through it almost 30 years ago now.
Allie - I think our parenting days are never done. My girls ask me for very little, they have extremely supportive husbands. I do offer to do for them though and when they ask I try to do. Hope you get some rest before the fair again.
In the last year I found the “trick” to get my back and hips to not be angry. I never sit for longer than 1/2 an hour at a time. (That started out at 15 minutes) and I never walk for more than 20 at a time. (I’ve gotten that up to about 45 now). I quit trying to push myself thinking it would be better because I learned it was making it worse. Try to sit a little at the fair frequently.
Rebecca - Eli is adorable. What a beautiful painting your sister did.
Vibrantreader - not everyone had a family without trauma, I think those reasons are justified and not rude. My Grandmother taught me to be kind too, but she also told me to be truthful. Sometimes the truth isn’t kind.
Joy - I hope you get your floors done quickly so you can relax. It’s a shame you have to wait on their timeline.
Lisa - Well said.
I got home from the hospital shortly after 2am. I have some inflammation for no known reason. He did bloodwork to make sure there was nothing going on with my white blood cells and to rule out a blood clot. He took an X-ray to ensure no break. He gave me prescription strength Aleve because of the inflammation that showed in the blood work and I am feeling some better this morning. 🤷♀️ who knows.
I have been invited to go craft this evening but may just stay home. I haven’t decided yet.

My sister is retiring at the end of the year so she was talking about returning in the Spring to work on the basement. This visit is too short to start anything like that. So for now it's a seed planted.
I did get laundry done. I also went through my dad's piles of mail that were dominating the kitchen table. I found three bills and one piece of mine among two grocery bags of junk mail. I hope he is grateful and not upset. So far he doesn't seem to have noticed.
The funeral was over at four. I don't know why I thought it would last until six or so. My sister is out walking now. I admire her dedication to her steps.
Hmm. Maybe I should tackle some of my own paperwork.

Lisa thanks for taking care of our troll.... and Margaret thanks for taking the high road... We have our ups and downs but most everyone is supportive
I had troll dolls as a kid and always think of the naked dolls with crazy hair when an internet troll is mentioned.

I appreciate the explanations and excuses of why the profanity of this young girl is ok here. But it is not ok.

Hi Gals,
So I was thinking about the troll dolls (LOL) they were both cute and ugly but in my bio- growing up family, there were rules about nakedness(even for the dolls) – but troll dolls because they did not come with clothes were allowed to be naked. And my dad and grandpa's favorite flower was a “naked lady” which is really amaryllis belladonna. I am pretty sure it was their favorite just because they could say the name and get a rise out of the wives! I can her both my mom’s voice and my grandmom’s saying “DH really there are children present” LOL LOL so dated but so much a part of that generation
Love ya all,

Tracey - So glad the doc did the due diligence and the necessary tests. Hope the swelling recedes and you continue to feel better.
Margaret - You are, as always, a loving and forgiving soul. A whole lot of my pet peeves were triggered in a very short space today. As a newspaper editor for years, I do not react well to censorship in most forms, and I do not respond at all well to those passing head-shaking, holier-than-thou, and above all, unfounded judgment. You said it a lot more nicely than I did! Thank you.
Dinner's in the oven - a thank-you dinner from me because Corey helped me with the shelves for the storage room. And honestly, did it when he wasn't in the mood--he was trying to relax today, and save some energy for the yardwork, etc., tomorrow. But because I asked, he helped put all the wire, movable shelving together.
Then, without me even asking, he did something I might not have been able to done on my own. He cut that big, heavy, 10-foot-long countertop piece in half, and used it to create two very nice, capacious shelves for me in what will be the permanent storage room. I do love giving something that served its first purpose (as my bread station for a couple of years) a new purpose rather than buying something new. Luckily, so does he!
So, fair's fair, he shouldn't have to cook dinner on top of that. I put a beef enchilada casserole together and got it in the oven. Probably not as good as something he would have cooked, but I know he'll eat it.
Time to get dinner out of the oven, and let it rest for 10 or 15-minutes, as it is hot like lava.
Love,
Lisa in AR
Who's not as testy as she sounded...4 -
Tracey - glad your wrist doesn't have anything major going on with it. Did the doc suggest ice? My DH's cousin lives in Quebec and came to visit ten years ago. He was not happy back then with the doctor situation and said he knew of folks that drove down to the states to get medical attention. Haven't spoken with him recently so I have no idea if that's still the case. We are seeing doctor shortages in the US in some areas too. I think the pandemic wore them out and they made the decision to retire early. I know of a couple that went into telehealth.
Margaret - you summed it up quite nicely. I appreciate that we can vent frustration and sadness here in a safe place. The comments and conversation this afternoon made me think of my maternal grandmother who lived on the farm next to us when I was a kid. Every Sunday she'd go to church and every morning she'd read "The Upper Room." She talked to Jesus all day long. She didn't drive but walked all over the neighborhood to look in on sick neighbors, and take them produce from her garden in the summer. Sometimes she'd take one of us grandkids along to walk with her and we knew to sit quietly while the adults talked. Some of the neighbors had rather coarse language, but she never mentioned anything or was critical unless we made a comment to her later. She'd say something like "We aren't supposed to talk like that, but we are all sinners and Jesus loves us anyhow." But if she discovered anyone was a thief or liar, she had plenty of criticism for that type of activity. Whew! Gosh I miss her. I think she's in charge of the band of Angels doing their darndest to keep me out of trouble, lol.
What a lovely flower - water lily?
Kim - when I saw the picture of that troll I thought "where's its outfit?" I think we had clothes for them too. And we called them "Dammit dolls". No idea why.
Rebecca - I know I've asked before but can't remember what you said - does your sis sell her paintings? I remember the beautiful ones of birds painted on sheets of music. Eli is growing so fast. Thanks for the photos, as always.
Terri -
Annie- having your sis come after she retires and spend some time to do the cleaning is a great idea. Glad you found the bills! Again, many hugs - you are in the position of being both parent and child. I think you are handling it well. All you can do is the best you can.
Well, ladies, here's the newly stained deck. I should have taken before photos - prior to Roger pressure washing it. It could use another coat of stain but I'm not concerned. It's better than it was and will be mostly waterproof this winter.

Caught up on the last couple of days-quite a variety of conversations.
Tracey-strange about swelling. Did they say what in the bloodwork led him to that conclusion? I am familiar that SED rates gives insight to possible RA. etc., but not which regular tests would. Hope meds help it.
Heather-I especially like the colors indoor DH latest work.
Kylia-hope you continue getting relief from the hot tub.
Allie-hope you can continue with walking. Don't let Carmine get to you. She/he is doing what he/she thinks is needed to protect herself. Just try to remember the good kid who is in there and will reemerge.
Annie-good news sister is willing to help with clear out.
SIL house mate ended up in hospital this week from a fall. SIL has told doctors and social workers that she cannot care for her in the home any longer. Physically SIL is doing well to move around as much a she can. House mate is 85 I believe and memory is going quickly, She had a major brain bleed a number of years ago and they gave her a 1% chance of survival then. They moved her to nursing. home for rehab. SIL told staff she cannot return to house. I hope we don't have to evict.
Purchased my new tv Friday (bought high level model than originally intended). Got it home, set it up and after a couple of hours screen blacked out. Was on phone with the company until close to 10 and could not resolve issue. Tech is supposed to come Wednesday. It was upsetting but it is just a device, I know they will either fix or replace-just a hassle because it didn't go according to my plans!
I know I have not commented on much but it's time for me to get ready for sleep.
Take care all,
Ginny in Ohio8 -
Lanette, the deck looks wonderful! I read The Upper Room”, too!
Y’all, i thought I was through with MFP for the day, but I had to pop back on and tell you I have discovered something even more delicious than Oikos Pro yogurt. It is plain Greek Yogurt mixed with TrueFit Whey Protein flavor in chocolate. Yesterday, I did a serving, which was 3/4 cup of yogurt and a whole scoop of protein powder, but it was too many calories for a snack. Today I used 1/2 cup of yogurt and 1/2 scoop of powder. It was around 200 calories, 23 g of protein. perfection!4 -
Katiebug - Hands down best comment. Thank you.
Lanette - The deck looks outstanding, thanks for sharing the pics!
Corey's headed for the tub, and I think I'll go put in a little time getting that storage area settled, there are a number of things that need shifting. And I've already got a few things in the car for my next trip into town to drop off at the Goodwill. Getting all this settled, and the closets emptied in the back is the first real step toward beginning the long-postponed renovations in the back. Basically, turning two very small bedrooms and a minuscule half bath into one larger bedroom, a full bath, and a storage room. It will probably take at least a year, but at least it can be started...
Later y'all,
Love,
Lisa in AR3 -
Worked today then went to a craft fair at the bowling alley (don’t laugh). Vince is at his train show so I made an apple crumble (another one, he thought the last one should have had more cinnamon). I really think it needs more apples. Then walked to Food Lion for asian pears, ginger (this is the only store I can find it in) and cake mix on sale. Cleaned the kitchen floor, made hard boiled eggs in the IP, now making spaghetti squash in the IP. I probably won’t have time to do all 4 before I leave for church, but I can get 2 of them done. Update: while we were having dinner, made the other one and then the last after dinner. Now waiting for it to cool so I can scrape the “spaghetti” out of it.
Lisa – last time I was at Aldi’s, Vince’s pizza had gone up 50 cents. yea for you and Corey giving up smoking!!! It doesn’t matter if you use medical aids or not. The important thing is that you stopped smoking. Beautiful pottery. I love sweet potatoes (then again, I love almost all vegetables). Corey is a keeper, that’s for sure
Beth – it wouldn’t surprise me at all if that husband (the 97yo) passes away shortly from a broken heart. unbelievable that your neighbor won’t keep her chickens cooped up at night! When we were bowling Wednesday, we need 2 more lanes so they asked the guy (who had just started) if he would move over two lanes so that we could keep our league together. He refused! Some people are just a-holes. You standing with the rake reminded me of the person on Green Acres at the beginning of the show.
Yesterday washed and waxed my car then went to Hamricks while the wax was drying to get this dish drying mat for Jess and one for Vince. Only they only had one of a cat (for Vince for christmas) and one of a dog for Jess. I was so unsure of the cat or dog one for Jess, guess the decision has been made for me. Then went to Target to see if they sell air fryer lids for the IP, they don’t. Since I was right there, decided to look in Kohl’s. They don’t sell them either. I love mine, but I’m not crazy about spending $100 for one when a new IP is a little more. I think I only paid about $40 for mine
Tracey – yes, losing my mother was hard. I really didn’t have anyone to talk to about makeup, shaving my legs, getting my period etc. But on the bright side, it has made me much more independent. I always had to take care of myself (what I mean is going to people’s homes I needed to make sure I had a brush, clothes, etc). When I was growing up (remember, there was no day care back then), I would go to a friend’s house after school. When I got married and moved to my first house, I remember her saying “why did you move so far away?”. Then she got divorced, married another guy, built a house guess where? A block from me! Beautiful stocking. how scary it is to realize someone was in your car! That happened to me quite a few years ago. Fortunately, they didn’t get anything, either. Lately, my fob has been giving me problems. When I go to start the car, it seems like the signal from the car to the fob doesn’t “connect”. I usually have to use the fob to open/close the doors and then it “connects”. Strange. We’ve changed the batteries and it continues to happen
We got a medium size freezer. Now I wish we’d gotten the large size!
Barbara – when Vince is at the train show, he works helping set up/take down, he answers questions, run trains, that sort of thing. I suggested that he have something like the M&M train and have a bag of small Mars candies and donate the proceeds to the local soup kitchen. They couldn’t do that at the fair, but I wonder if they could at the Science Center where he is now. I’ll have to ask him.
Rosemarie – do you have to continue to spray deer repellent? I would think rain would wash it away.
Heather – congrats on almost completing the book!
kristie – welcome!
Sue WA – for some reason, the gal who runs the gym I go to doesn’t have a pool. To me, it’s great therapy. I guess in one sense I can understand, there is a lot of liability, not only in keeping the chemical levels correct, but also the risk of drowning. But yet, I have never seen kids at that gym, it seems to be mostly 20 to 40 year olds, some older.
Betsy, Lanette and Rita – count me in on the party!
I totally agree in trying to not use medicine, but using it if it’s absolutely needed.
Kim – what a nice gesture you made to Sue.
Carol – that was nice of you to go back and pay for the groceries. Lots of people wouldn’t do that
Vince’s baby crib (70 yeas old) is going to get donated to the Historical Society and his baby dresser is going to get donated to Resource Warehouse where the proceeds go to Safe Harbor (for women who have been abused, etc)
Lanette – thank you for telling us about the stamp “scam”. Every time I saw that ad on Facebook, I always was interested, just never did anything about it. Now I’m glad I didn’t
Hot flash coming on...time for frozen grapes
Tracey – feel better fast. Good thing you’re at the ER. How kind of that guy to get the pizza!
Annie – good for you “just saying no”
Allie – if Tracey doesn’t want anyone to know she’s on Facebook, what does she use it for? Regarding Carmine, I can’t help thinking of that quote “the more they pull away, the more they come back”
Margaret – “a group of forgiving, loving, exceptional group of women I’m proud to call my friends”. Agree totally sister!
Troll dolls: there are ceramic trolls. They look so cute. But I don’t think I can put them outside since you need material “hair”. The blanket I have that my Linus is holding has already needed to be replaced because it got faded from the sun. And I only keep him in the shade!
Lanette – lovely deck
Katie – thanks for the idea of protein powder in yogurt. I would never have thought of that!
Guess it’s about time for bed. Yea I get to exercise tomorrow a.m. then I’ll probably take my walk, then go to WalMart. I’d like to stop at Dollar General. Oh, did I tell you the saga? Well, a few weeks ago I went there and saw these folding tables with a sign that said “50% off” so I got 2. When I got to the register I only got 25% off. Don’t need them that badly so wasn’t about to pay that amount. Told the cashier that the sign said “50% off”. She called her manager who said “the sale ended yesterday, I can’t change the date”. Like h*** she can’t...she’s the manager. So...I wrote a letter to Dollar General and honestly didn’t expect any response. Well, a few days later the district manager called me to say that the manager should have honored the sign, they are supposed to do it for the customer. Well, nothing since then but I do want to see if those tables go on sale again. I can always use a bottle of distilled water.
