Hello I'm Darlene and have been with this group for a few months now. Retired, 63-year-old. Married (Greg), one adult daughter (Allyson), and one goldendoodle (Monty). Been with this group since the spring - my favorite group for support!

My goals for πŸ¦ƒNovemberπŸ¦ƒ - simplifying them this month - too hard to keep track of everything last month

βš–οΈ Lose 4 pounds (always my goal) - bringing me out of the obese category and into overweight
πŸ‘£ 17K steps daily with one day of rest
    πŸ“ Log Daily
πŸ₯— Stay under my calorie range

    βš–οΈπŸ‘£πŸ“πŸ₯—

    Highest Weight: 228
    October Ending Weight: 169.6

    Nov 1: 171 - πŸ‘£ πŸ“ πŸ₯— 17K Steps Not off to a good start - but it's temporary!
Nov 2: DNW - πŸ“ 4K Steps Tough day for eating and exercise yesterday. It was our monthly visit to my husband's 91 year old cousin who lives about 2 hours away. Leave at 5:30 AM - have breakfast and lunch with her (not good choices) and then a long drive back home later in the afternoon. We got back home at 6:00. Lovely visit, but it makes for a long day and I am exhausted when I get home. I hit the left over Halloween candy for dinner, no exercise at all, couldn't sleep (probably too much sugar). It's just a temporary situation (didn't I say that yesterday?)! Will get back to it today!
Nov 3: 170.4 πŸ‘£ πŸ“πŸ₯— 23K Steps Good day yesterday; everything on track and on my way back. As a reward for making my 2,023 goal hubby said to get the new Garmin Fitness tracker that I have been eyeing. It came a couple of days ago and I've been trying to figure it out; wearing both the Fitbit and Garmin. Today will switch to totally Garmin. Hubby is getting the Fitbit.
Nov 4: 170.2 πŸ‘£πŸ“πŸ₯— 20K Steps A slow creep in the right direction. Girls day at the casino today - my sisters and aunt are going. Wish me luck! I should still be ok. I'm eating my breakfast before I go, will bring a protein bar and fruit for my lunch and will be home for dinner. And I won't be drinking (I have to drive home).
    Nov 5: 170.4 πŸ‘£πŸ“πŸ₯— 20K Steps
Nov 6: 170.6 πŸ‘£πŸ“πŸ₯— 21K Steps Ugh - I've been struggling to see a decrease this week. The only thing I can think of is that I haven't been reaching my water goal. Will concentrate on that today and hope for a whoosh!
Nov 7: 169.6 πŸ‘£πŸ“πŸ₯— 20K Steps Finally back to my October ending weight. Now to keep it below the 170s for good.
Nov 8: 168.4 😁 πŸ‘£πŸ“πŸ₯— 23K Steps My first smile this month! Woo Hoo! Guess who is no longer "obese"! πŸ˜‰
Nov 9: 169.8 πŸ‘£πŸ“πŸ₯— 21K Steps Expected an uptick, and am actually glad that it is not more. Trivia Night last night (took 2nd place) - over my sodium goal and used all my calories from exercise.
    Nov 10: 169.6 πŸ‘£ πŸ“ πŸ₯— 20K Steps
Nov 11: 169.8 πŸ‘£ πŸ“ πŸ₯— 22K Steps A slow creep in the wrong directiion. Went out to dinner, self sabatoge. Time to get back to it!
Nov 12: 169.4 πŸ‘£πŸ“πŸ₯— 20K Steps A beautiful day in Connecticut yesterday. After my morning walk, spent the day cleaning up the yard - harvested the last of the herbs (froze for later), cleaned up the garden, put away the summer yard stuff. Then relaxed the rest of the day. I'm reading Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes again before I go see the movie next week.
Nov 13: 169.4 πŸ‘£πŸ“πŸ₯— 20K Steps A chilly start to the day, but beautiful. Got in 20K steps all week - I love walking in the cold weather. It's bingo night with Mom tonight - I HAVE to resist the desserts that everyone brings - gotta get that scale to move!
    Nov 14: 168.4 😁 πŸ‘£πŸ“πŸ₯— 19K Steps
    Nov 15: 168.8 πŸ‘£πŸ“16K Steps
Nov 16: 168.6 πŸ‘£πŸ“ 23K Steps A rough couple of days. Going to visit my Aunt this afternoon (she will have dessert), so having a light breakfast and lunch before I go. Then picking up dinner on the way home. So one more challenging day. Fingers crossed it doesn't do any more damage.
    Nov 17: 168.6 πŸ‘£πŸ“πŸ₯— 20K Steps
Nov 18: 168.2😁 πŸ‘£πŸ“πŸ₯— 22K Steps Back on track. Going to start getting ready for Thanksgiving today - have to clean out my office to make room for the buffet table. My Thanksgiving count is now up to 25 - my cousin and his girlfriend and there kids (they each have two) will be joining us as well. Their original plans fell through. Less leftovers! Yahoo! Finished the Ballad of Songbird and Snakes (2nd time reading), in anticipation of seeing the movie tomorrow. Looking forward to it. Haven't been to the movie theater in a long time!

So, I have been with my dad in the hospital for the past two days. He is still in the ER because there is no bed for him in the ward, but he does have his own room. He is on the high flow O2 so his levels are now acceptable, and he is on antibiotics because they are assuming he is fighting another pneumonia infection. His spirits are pretty good, and he feels good, but he is confined to his bed with all the monitor hook ups. I have not eaten very much the past couple of days, so I am now in Onederland. However, it is also affecting my sleep as I have been awake since three. I live an hour and a half from his hospital, so I am not going today but my sister is. My husband and I will go back on Sunday. I just had some soup and I might try going back to bed now.

@deepwoodslady I am so happy for you. I know that you don't count it until you get to 177 - but welcome to the next decade. And I think sometime we just need to "skip" the scale for a day. You got this!
@andreajnhe - Almost to the monthly goal - very impressive.
@myhands4god Please don't give up. Losing weight is really hard. There will be up days and down days. I promise you if you keep at it - it WILL come down. I have been in your shoes so many times. I would have success, then hit a down time and quit. This year I listened to some great advice, and just kept going anyway - it's working.

Every healthy habit brings me closer to scratching each of these off to NEVER see them again!

    11/16-179.6-(Trend Weight 183.4)-

11/17-179.8-(Trend Weight 183.0)- I am up just a blip after beginning to self-sabotage last night. Luckily I kept it to my β€œapproved foods” and stopped before the damage was too bad with a 0.2 lb gain overnight. I’m hanging onto the 170’s by the skin of my teeth. Those of you who know me best know that I will not consider myself in the 170’s solidly until I reach 177 point anything so I still have a ways to go. However, I am grateful for the possibility. Tomorrow I travel by car 4 hours each way with oldest daughter for a medical appointment for her (to the University Hospital). So food will not be at home and there will be lots of sitting. I expect a gain tomorrow. For my mentality I might even skip the weigh-in since the numbers are temporary anyway and not indicative of my true weight. On another note, Thanksgiving is coming up for those of us in America. I’m hoping I can tip-toe all the way up to it, Bang it out on Turkey day, then tip-toe back out without too much lasting damage. The key will be what I keep for leftovers and what I send home with others. Will it be lean turkey that I keep or will it be pie and desserts? Oh boy!

11/18-DNW-(Trend Weight DNW)- Awake very early today with not enough time between my last food intake and this post so I did not weigh. Day trip today that is lengthy. I probably will not weigh tomorrow but I will post. Good luck everyone this round. It will be challenging for all those in the U.S.A. with the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. All we can do is our best and then focus on recovery. That’s my plan and I’m stickin’ to it.

I'm Ashley, or "Ashes". I'm a Midwestern gal (now Cali gal).

    Height 5'5"
    1st Starting weight SW May 7, 2021: 169 lbs
    {Maintenance weight since Mid Feb 2022: 140lbs}
2nd pregnancy final weight: 165 lbs; which was such a shock considering how I was eating and not logging (first pregnancy I ended at 182 lbs)

    New SW October 21, 2023: 154.8 lbs
GW for end of Nov: 150 lbs
    GW: 132 lbs

    Nov 1: 153.2 lbs
    Nov 2: 153 lbs
    Nov 3: 152.4 lbs anniversary πŸŽ‰
    Nov 4: 153.6 lbs
    Nov 5: 154.4 lbs
    Nov 6: DNW- πŸ‘ΆπŸ‘§ distraction
    Nov 7: 152.6 lbs

    Nov 15: 152.8 lbs
    Nov 16: 153 lbs
    Nov 17: 155.2 lbs πŸ€”
    Nov 18: 153.6 lbs

Spike is sorting itself out. Our bodies desperately wants to stay the weight it is. I think it's common to fight within a 5lb (~2.5kg) range before breaking through that plateau only to settle into another 5lb range fight a little later.

Hi, I'm a 50+ yo married female, 5'6", and tired of looking and feeling like I do. I’m making changes to get out of the Obese category, to look good in my clothing, and to have confidence in public again.

Heaviest Weight: 221 | Ultimate Goal Weight: 165

    Nov 1: 208.3
    Nov 2: 209.3
    Nov 3: 207.8
    Nov 4: 207.0
    Nov 5: 207.7
    Nov 6: 207.8
    Nov 7: 208.3
    Nov 8: 206.1
    Nov 9: 204.5
    Nov 10: 204.6
Nov 11: 204.7 -- I biked for 15 min, and danced for 40 minutes at 120 bpm, which I think I want to continue with. It was good movement and it was fun.
    Nov 12: 204.5 -- 1 hour of dancing. 3.5 miles biking/15 min.
    Nov 13: 204.4
    Nov 14: 204.4
Nov 15: 205.4 -- I slept about 4 hours last night, and had sleepy tea at 3am. Both those things spiked the number, because I ate pretty healthy yesterday. Not stressing it.
Nov 16: 205.9 - Only 4 hours sleep. I'm dealing with stomach issues and it has been keeping me up at night. It also requires food at odd hours, which I'm not happy about. I'm angry the scale number is going up too.
    Nov 17: 204.7
Nov 18: 205.4 -- It's amazing what not working out does with the scale. I'll be back to it today; I just got too busy yesterday. I did vacuum and clean for an hour, so I did get some bending/stretching. But apparently not enough to counteract those graham crackers last night...

My scale is doing funny things. I'm not sure how accurate it is. At first it said 131.8 which is possible but unlikely (if the other readings this month were correct). So I got on again and it said 129.4 twice, so I'll go with that. But then I got on again about 30 minutes later and it said 127.0. That's highly unlikely also. Wondering if my scale is just not very good anymore.

We have some fancypants digital scale that my husband bought years ago, and does those crazy swings too. If I get a number twice, that's the number I go with. Sometimes I'm lucky and it's the lower number, often times it's the higher number (stupid scale...). Changing the batteries sometimes helps. Ours also has a calibration button on the bottom, and I've reset it occasionally, which quiets it down for a while too. I usually step on the scale once, and discount that first weight. After that, whatever two weighs are the same, that's the number I go with.

@stormywxs288 Wishing you the best with the remodel and finishing it before this Thursday. Then hopefully you can enjoy a nice long weekend!

@HASWLRS I hope your dad is ok, that the hospital is taking really good care of him, and that he's on the mend soon. <3 Please take care of yourself too.

I finished off the soup I made the other day. Once again, I show a big weight gain after eating this soup. I think I am literally full of soup????? Ha! Seriously, I ate too late and too much! We normally eat twice a day, 10 am and 4 pm. We like to do intermittent fasting (IF) with a 6-hour eating window and an 18-hour fasting period. Our remodel construction is making our IF routine difficult to maintain.

Stormy, is it possible there's a higher quantity of salt and that's causing the bump at the scale? I'm glad you enjoyed it though!

Hi All, I am a busy mother of five slowly working my way to my goal weight. During September I entered my "Normal" BMI category and am now about 10 pounds from my ultimate goal. This will be my 3rd month in this challenge. I had never weighed myself daily before this challenge, and I am finding it to be so helpful and informative to weigh and check in daily.

My goal for November is to NOT GET DERAILED BY THANKSGIVING. πŸ¦ƒ πŸ₯§ 😊 Let me tell you, I can really get derailed by a holiday. I may or may not log on Thanksgiving or the day after, and that's OK. But my Thanksgiving goal is to log daily from Saturday the 25th through the end of the month.

    Starting weight September 1: 141.0

    Starting weight November 1: 132.8

Goal for November: 130.4 Considering Thanksgiving, I'm setting my goal a tad on the conservative side.

    November 1: 132.8 I logged 🍁
    November 2: 132.8 I logged 🍁
November 3: 131.4 I logged 🍁 Very happy with today's weight. Over the past week there have been several days that I ate at maintenance, and a couple days I ate well over maintenance. It was hard to tell if I was needlessly eating more, or if I really needed the additional calories. I've already got my activity level set to almost the highest one, and I haven't even gone running or done any exercise for over a week. I guess I walk constantly around the house, dealing with the children and doing housework, always on my feet, and I frequently have to do up and down the stairs to deal with something or put something away, so maybe that burns a lot sometimes. For a while there I thought I was "failing" because I could not hit my calorie goal.
    November 4: 131.0 I logged 🍁
    November 5: 130.8
    November 6: 132.2 I logged 🍁
    November 7: 131.8 I logged 🍁
    November 8: 131.4 I logged 🍁
    November 9: 131.2
November 10: 131.2 I logged 🍁 Had a really bad day yesterday. Ended up overeating and eating too much chocolate. Hopefully it won't cause my weight to spike up. Today is a new day.
    November 11: 131.0 I logged 🍁
November 12: 131.2 I logged 🍁 OK, time to break through this number, lol.
    November 13: 130.6 I logged 🍁
    November 14: 130.2
    November 15: 131.6 I logged 🍁
November 16: 131.2 I logged 🍁 There's that familiar number again, lol. Time break through it again, especially these days before Thanksgiving. By the way, for the first time we have a pasture raised grassfed turkey this year for Thanksgiving. I'm looking forward to it.
    November 17: 130.2 I logged 🍁 Yessss!! Happy dance.
November 18: 129.4 My scale is doing funny things.
November 19: 128.2 ??? Again, I have a hard time believing this is correct. I might fiddle around with my scale, look into calibration like ManifestingToday suggested, or replace the batteries. First it said 126.6! No way. Then it said 127.0. Then it said 128.2 three times. My guess would be that 130-131 is more accurate. But I don't know. Another note-- yesterday was full of surprises. The day did NOT go as planned. Calorie counting and all cares for weight loss ended up out the window. Ended up going to a restaurant and just eating a lot. So I expected to see a weight gain, if not from extra calories then at least water retention. I'm wondering if I did have a gain but my scale is off and not reflecting it. Or I could actually have had a loss like it says. πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ Well, I will just keep on with the usual logging, stick to my plans, and hopefully figure out what's up with my scale.

My name is Donna. I am 5’ 5” tall, 63 years old and from the Michigan USA. In 2016 I weighed 253 lbs. I am on a journey of health and to get back to the real me.

Every healthy habit brings me closer to scratching each of these off to NEVER see them again!

11/19-DNW-(Trend Weight DNW)- I avoided the scale today after the traveling yesterday. With both lunch and dinner at restaurants, I just didn’t need to see the damage that I can feel. I have leftovers today so I’m trying to decide whether to eat them, freeze them, or possibly give them away if my foodie size 0 daughter comes by. Whenever I hit a new weight decade I usually teeter back and forth between the two decades (in this case 170s/180s) for a bit before finally and firmly settling into the new decade. This week complicates it with it being Thanksgiving week but I will be working very hard on it every day in-between. My large family Thanksgiving Dinner will be on Saturday. I’m not yet sure what my son and I will do on Thursday. All my other children will be with their in-laws. Ours is always delayed because I am the retired one and free most anytime.

November 20: 131.6 I am not super happy with my scale right now. Yesterday after I posted here, I turned it over and did not find any recalibration ability, but there is a button to change to kg. So I pushed it a couple times and set it back on pounds. Put it back down again, hopped back on and it said 131.4 I think. I think today's reading is probably pretty accurate..... It's a little disappointing to figure out that the scale has a 5-pound inaccuracy window. How am I supposed to know what's going on? I'll just keep logging and trying, and I'll keep getting on the thing every day and try not to worry too much about it. Let me know if any of you have any thoughts or advice on this.
