I don't need to be in the hospital around the holidays.
Yes Miles is a cute little turkey isn't he..
I am sure Jim would understand.
When my grandmother passed away. I couldn't make it to her service. So, in honor of her, I spent that hour out in my roses. Something she would have enjoyed doing.5 -
Kirby ordered a food dehydrator from Amazon and got it today. It all started when I asked him if it was cheaper me making their dog treats or not. I weighed one batch of treats, 1-1/4lbs and I dated to see how long that will last. We looked in the stores and flout that a lot of them were like 5.99 a pound for bulk treats and even more for pouches of treats. One batch takes me a couple of hours to make. That’s when he came up with the dehydrator and making them treats the the dehydrator does most of the work and they will keep for a long time. What else do we have to do now that we’re retired right?9

Looks like I will be going to SF tomorrow morning to help dh set up our booth. His friend said beings dh is bringing more stuff that he wants him to drive his own car(drive separately) so we will take my car and we can set everything up so it is ready for Friday- They have security so everything is supposed to be safe to leave until the show starts Friday afternoon. He will take the high ticket "toys" on Friday and bring them home and bring them back Saturday morning- $1000 price on each of them and he has 3(ebay is selling the same things for up to $2000- StarTrek stuff). I will be there to help all day Saturday.
Hopefully we do well so 1)we don't have to bring a lot of the stuff back 2) make some money to cover the table and other expenses, like driving to SF twice.
The toys we are taking are just the ones that were in the closet in his room. We have a bunch in storage that we took to another show. He is trying to take mostly higher ticket/bigger profit items to this one beings we are limited on space. We are sharing a booth with his friend- and splitting the cost. Still paying $300 for it.5 -
Rori - Ah, I just love seeing your post - hug-yourself-happiness is nothing to be sneezed at, and it fills my heart with so much joy to see you running arms wide open into your life. Inspiring, to say the least.
Rebecca - Love watching you orient your life around your family, both close and extended. That's a lot of love washing in and out of your life...
Terri - We're socked in, no Orion tonight, here, too... but the Hunter always returns. I realized as I was writing this that one of my rare good memories of my father was when he decided he could learn to navigate by the stars with a sextant. Long story, not worth telling, that involved him sailing around the world in a 17-foot sloop he was building in our backyard. Didn't work out for him, unfortunately for all of us.
Allie - I know how much you wanted to be there for the family, dear heart. You don't need to get sick, and your friend wouldn't want you to.
Barbie - I loved getting the end of the story with you and Annie!
Power to the sisterhood, indeed. You all have taken up residence in my heart, and I am thankful for that...

Awe Lisa that's a great way to look at it. Being military there is an ebb and flow to it all. I am always saying hello or goodbye to someone it seems. Always waiting. But like I tell my Navy Mom Strong group, its a fierce love we have for our family. No luke warm, hohum feeling. I will take the fierce love every time. I seem to put a greater importance to connections than most.

Did most of the Leslie Sansone DVD (probably about 4 miles). They called that Vince’s car was ready. He’d taken it for inspection but they were so backed up that he had them bring him home and they called when it was ready. Anyway, we left to pick up his car. Seems that Hyundai STILL hasn’t come up with a fix for the recall. We’re thinking that they really could replace the ABS module, but that’s expensive. Hyundai is probably trying to come up with a less expensive fix. But we did read that the National Traffic Board is filing a suit against them because this is taking so long. We shall see. I would think that it wouldn’t look good for the NTB to be investigating them.
Gina – I prefer to walk outside, too. Since it was drizzling today, it was a Leslie Sansone DVD. Oh well.,…
Gina – then you’re in my neck of the woods. Asheville is probably only about 45 minutes to an hour west of me. Have a great trip
barbie – keeping kibble in my pocket was how we trained the service dog. Every time he went in front of me, I pulled him back and he got nothing. But when he walked nicely beside me, that’s when he got a treat. Do you do anything special when you walk the dogs in the rain? I’m assuming that you take an umbrella. Do you do anything else special?
Vince has been working on putting the lights on some of the trees. I told him that he needs to let me help him put the ornaments on, even if all I do is put the batteries in them. I know it bothers him that he needs to stop and take breaks. This getting older s***s. But it’s inevitable
No work tomorrow so the plan is to do some HIIT tomorrow. I just realized that I can exercise, too, on Thursday!!! We won’t be leaving until late morning so I can use the rebounder early in the morning. Yea!!!!
Rori – always a treat to hear from you. I’m so sorry about your friend. We used to live in the Poconos. Is she maybe at Pocono Medical Center? Your happiness about your friend N makes me so happy
Worked some on another towel topper, now to get to bed.

Well I went to bed thinking my dad could put my mom to bed as he did last night. My mom woke me up, yelling my name. She was sitting on the top step. I asked if she fell, she said no. I asked where she landed, she said on her hip. But she didn't fall. My dad didn't have his hearing aids so he couldn't hear anything we said. So I had mom sit and rest a minute, then we got her onto her feet and into the bed. Either her hip will be bruised in the morning or it won't.
Dad was just useless. He doesn't understand that she needs help and he needs the hearing aids to help her. And even if I got him to agree to wear them until she was in bed, he would forget by
tomorrow night.
Tomorrow I have to try to get her to a dentist in a place I have never been. I guess the safest thing is the wheelchair. One challenge after another.
I did have a lovely zoom with my Buddhist friends. Maybe if I focus on that I can sleep again. Instead of my mind going in circles over whether she fell, and what should be done.

Heather the very happiest of anniversaries to you and Johnny. hearing your stories read to the next generation.
Rosemarie so glad you had such an enjoyable trip.
Kylia thankful your DED has a dog sitter with nerves of steel. When I was about 12 a family friend taught his daughter and me gun safet and how to shoot a 22 rifle. Still remember being surprised by the “kick”. Sunday socializing and sending the men off on their own, do they stay together? Sounds like a good way to sneak in some socialization for the guys too! Thinking of Machka’s dementia causes posts. . .
Annie and just ((hugs)) Really hope your Mom will accept bathing and other help from the home health nurse.
Lanette love your questions and how you think.
Margaret I’ve always carried too much around my waist. There are pictures of me as a skinny legged child with a pot belly, not quite kwashiorkor but . . . Hope your MD has some next steps to help with your breathing.
Rebecca your sister’s place is beautiful! Sure hope her riding mower is a mulcher. . .
Debbie, Lisa, Michele Thanks! Do you freeze the fudge before you cut it into squares? Any special wrapping?
Lisa looks like Egg put her foot down. That’s enough writing for now!
Sue, yours to Annie. Truth that.
Vicki so glad you had a good weekend, you deserve it and many more.
Rebecca “ But I felt sad to tell her. I have learned I can't force Lee into situations he is not comfortable in. I have to also support my husband, and not be one sided or another.” Yes this. Took me a very very very long time to come to your wisdom and still sometimes grieve Joe’s absence from social gatherings, but have to respect his boundaries/comfort level.
Carol fingers Xd for the leaf removal.
Ginny what a cute little bug-in-a-rug Luna is!
Barbie thankful Jake is OK. Love the good for you both long walk with Annie. Treats, positive behaviors and interactions and best of all her nap with Jake
Tracey Rodger and Joe could be brothers from another mother. I’m a half intro and half extra, an ixtrovert? Need time out and about with people, then quiet time at home to recover

We mulch all our leaves and pruning and use them on our garden beds to help protect the plants and keep moisture in.
I was going to suggest bagging them like she does, then mulching them.

Dresses
I love dresses and skirts.
I wear them at work, and occasionally at other times. They're so comfortable.
I will occasionally wear pants when it is cold, and have a small collection of capris which I wear on warmer windy days, but they're just not as comfortable as a dress or skirt.
However, I wear them with short, knee-length, mid-calf length or long leggings. In these two photos below, I'm wearing them with short leggings and otherwise bare legs.
Only occasionally will I wear tights ... on special occasions when I really dress up.

Today’s gratitude: Sea otter cam at the Monterey Bay Aquarium, changed from 6:30 grey to dawn pink at 6:35.
Heather, “ambivert” that’s it! That was a beautiful dress and you were gorgeous in it. Good memories. Did you consider taking it to a consignment shop?
Ginny sorry no word on the followup. Squeaky wheels. . .
Lanette good riddance to pantyhose indeed! You could add a slot car track so we could drop off our husbands and our dogs at the same time . . . ;}
Kylia hope your SIL’s C-19 is mild and you can see the grands soon.
Barbie Jake’s "Let's just take this one day at a time and come from a place of love". Joe, like Jake will sometimes surprise me with his compassion. I’d love to be in a group of people charmed and delighted by you, oh wait, I am, it’s here! “…if you wait quietly the universe will tell you what to do…” thanks, I needed that.
Annie did I miss your birthday? Belated best wishes.
Gina Happy anniversary and congrats on the 170s!
Beth ROTFL! Bet I know how you know
Tracey that’ll teach me to call Joe a Grinch. Nevermore! If you think pantyhose were miserable, I remember nylon stockings and girdles. Love the pic of your daughter’s veil with appliques from your wedding dress. You really put that sad accident to positive use. Can see the different personalities in each snowman. Brava
Debbie thanks for the saran and Ziploc tips for freezing fudge. I’ll make fudge when I’m wishing I could start baking. . .
Carol hope no damage to you and yours from the storm.
Michele  apparently neither can Beth wait that long… Thanks for the cookie sheet tip.
Allie I’m glad you decided not to go to Jim’s funeral. When you’re not feeling well, stay home. The other attendees will understand and appreciate, Hope your breathing improves, but if not, please call your MD. RSV is on the rise.
Flea sorry to hear it won’t be possible to buy/build on that lot. “lots of quiet time…” way to put a positive spin on that long drive.
Vicki yah no, standing around in the cold and snowy waiting for photographer, not an ideal way to spend a winter weekend…
Pip  When you make your own dog treats, you know what (only) good stuff you put in them. Lucky pooches.
Rori what a heartfull post! So happy about N and all the joyful year’s memories.
Rebecca bet you can’t wait for February

I am of the opinion that we should only have in our wardrobe the things that we actually wear. Not things that are too big, too small, not to our taste, too many of the same thing, uncomfortable, inappropriate for our lifestyle, or things that we habitually pass over because they are not 'quite right'. I have kept one or two 'memory' things, but I am in the process of weeding out most of the stuff I don't wear.
Today I am wearing a new light sweater I bought from Amazon. It's a navy leopard print, much in the same vein as my other ones I wear every day. I will wear my thin, navy, long cardigan over it. It’s cotton and polyester. I need to find an accessory that will perk up the colour a little, as I'm finding it a little dark, and it's too long to show my bright tank tops that I always wear underneath and are part of my normal uniform. Unfortunately, I don't like wearing scarves, but a nice brighter blue one would be a good choice. Or silver accessories. I'm going to French Circle tonight, and like to look a little 'chic'.
The sparkly dress I gave away was from Amazon and very reasonably priced. Not a designer model!

Kykia-the Beavercreek shooting is very sad. Why a 20 year old would be in that dark of a space is scary-but it seems to be happening more and more. We are seeing younger youth committing acts that are unbelievable-and we can find no where to safely place them for treatment. Sorry that Covid has popped up in your family-it is still going around. Seems to be a mix between mild cases and more severe. I am going to try to get my next vaccine this weekend or next.
Annie-very scary your mom's episode. Her not being sure what happened is rather normal with dementia. Thankfully she landed on her bottom at top of steps and didn't take tumble. One step at a time friend.
Rori-what a lovely interlude with your friend. It is a nice way to let the relationship slowly grow and see where it goes. At the very least-you seem to have a very good friend. So sorry to hear of you long time friend with her health fading. It is very sad to watch. Of course you will go to provide comfort and love to her.
Beth-I have never used Lipo Flavonoid. From the label it appears to be primarily a lot of b complex.
Debbie-hope sale in SF ends up being worth the work!
Michelle-a friend of mine traded her Hyundai in when all the troubles started being reported. I agree with you, it seems it takes manufacturers way too long to come up with fixes.
Pip-we used a food dehydrator for years to make beef jerky. We all liked eating it and it saved on money. My oldest son would sell some to his friends at school! It will no doubt be healthier for your kids and once it is in dehydrator doesn't take much actual work.
Allie-hope you are feeling better. I also think you made a wise choice not going to funeral. You did not need to take germs to others and also-if you have a weakened condition right now, you don't want to pick something else on top of it. Flu, RSV and whooping cough are all going around, along with other things. Rest.
Going in to work util around 12:45-have 1 pm hair appointment. Beautician had hysterectomy in October. I am surprised she is actually back to work this quick. However, if she doesn't work she doesn't get paid. I will tip extra today for her Christmas tip. Then on to foot doctor at 3-hope to get some answers.
Take care all,
Ginny in Ohio

Lisa Ethanol free fuel is best for your equipment. Like the truck the rider can be filled and "stabilized. Ethanol free or recreational fuel is more shelf stabil for everything. Small fuel tanks really benefit. We "stabil" most of our vehicles and riders for winter. We use Ethanol free for all of our 2 cycles and the snowblower.
Barbie ❤️ Jake's wisdom in caring for your mom.
Gina Congrats on the 170's! Happy Anniversary!
Tracey ❤️ the crafts you do! What a wonderful reuse of your wedding dress.
Beth Good advice for Annie.
Dresses and pantyhose......I ❤️ dresses. Most of the time I am bare legged in summer. I don't mind pantyhose especially for a smoother look. I prefer as little as possible under most things. In the winter, it is either tights or my thin long johns.
Wedding dresses....my first dress was used as a Halloween costume by my girls for several years. This one was also worn by my oldest at her vow renewal in Punta Cana. It is flowy and soft. I am thinking of having it altered to a summer dress that I could wear. 🤔
I need to get my day started. Caught up with you and hottub done. Walking has taken a back seat this week 😞
Have been in bed at 9 since Long night Saturday though. DH has been needy lately. 🙃 He really is frustrated by hunting situation. I am REALLY missing my down time. Just an off week.
Rori It is wonderful sharing your joy with you and watching you blossom.
More later,
I am THANKFUL for ALL of YOU!
Much love,

Good morning ladies!
Well it is as if nothing happened last night. So mom must have gone down slowly.
Pip your dogs are lucky!
Beth Mom saw a nephrologist in the hospital and had a scan. Now her team is pushing a referral to the nephrologist and I pushed back and said it was too far to drive. So now they want me to call the local office. We will go at least once. The appointments are starting to pile up. Today is the dentist.
Darn it! I dropped the morning pills. Oh well, live and learn.

The first few years with my husband's situation, I felt like I lived in medical offices and waiting rooms!!
A tip ... carry a backpack with:
- a fold up rain jacket or 2
- snacks
- a bottle of water
- a book or magazine to read
- a notebook to write down what the medical person says and to write down your questions before you go in
- a couple pens
- a large zip lock bag or similar to put documents from the medical person in like scripts, referrals etc.
- a smaller zip lock for clean face masks
- a backup battery for your phone
I still haul most of that and sometimes more around with me just about every day.

Any of my American friends good luck to all if you traveling..im just going a couple of blocks away so not bad.
I told Tracy I would help tomorrow, but she seems to have it under control.4 -
Machka... love your taste in dresses. You look lovely. I also feel like this month and year has taken off and can't believe we are coming to the end of November soon and then not long til 2024. Crazy.

Rori - So happy for you.
I decided to fold up the hem of my sweater to the inside. Then you can see the blue tank top, which brightens it. Navy long cardigan good with it. Happier now.
I've squirted WD40 into the elliptical where it's knocking. I have flattened and thrown out some Amazon boxes. Washed the wood floor by the front door. Scrubbed the tray I eat dinner off.
I couldn't lay my hands on any screws, so haven't attempted the cupboard door. I know DH has some somewhere.
I always get the urge to clean when DH goes out!
Yesterday my thigh went into spasm again as we were picking up Bea. It hasn't happened for over a month. I have downloaded a form that DDIL sent me the link to, to self-refer for NHS physiotherapy. I know it will take forever to get an appointment, but I have to make a start. I can't afford private treatment.
A bit disappointing, as I have done quite a bit of walking about recently, with no reaction, other than normal aches. I do my own PT every day, plus massage.
Love to all, Heather UK xxxxxxxx4 -
Annie ... so sorry your mom has already fallen (or not fallen but "landed on her hip" ... sigh). I understand conversations like these. In assisted living, they would have, by regulation, taken your mom to the ER to have her hip looked at ... although my mother has refused when it didn't involve hitting her head. Sometimes they waffle on the regulation. I suspect that if your mom was able to stand up and move that she will be ok. Bruised. But OK. I'll be thinking of you with your appointments. This is not an easy road you're on. Hugs.
Machka and Ginny ... I saw that Lipo Flavonoid had a lot of B vitamins as well as some C and other things. It's pricey and the dosing recommendations (2 caplets 3x a day?) are administering extremely high levels of the vitamins. My PA said I could try it if I wanted to but that there's not enough scientific data at this point to indicate that it is high successful in treating tinnitus. So I think I'll start with a regular B-complex and go from there. There is some evidence that those who suffer from tinnitus often have low B-12. Thanks for your input.
Rainy here today, but we're taking a drive to Rochester (about 60+ miles from our home). My husband bought something online and then realized he had it shipped to store instead of ship to home. I suggested he cancel the order and start over, but he thought maybe he'd like to see the inside of the store as well. I really need to be preparing for tomorrow's dinner ... oh well.

1. Make a list of new things you want to do this month. 1. Start Christmas shopping, 2. Work on my happiness, 3. Walk the mall at least once. 4. Read a new book
2. Respond to a difficult situation in a different way. I will see what comes up, but the daily readings I do have helped a lot already! Did this!
3. Get outside and observe the changes in nature around you..Supposed to be in the low 80’s (f) here today and the week to come so will have plenty of time to do this. Didn’t do this today, sick.
4. Sign up to join a new course, activity, or online community. I’ll have to look around for this. Thinking about something to do with MCC. I joined 2 new groups on FB.
5. Change your normal routine today and notice how you feel. Will do!
6. Try out a new way of being physically active. I will have to think about this. Maybe do a YouTube video. Did not do this.
7. Be creative. Cook, draw, write, paint, make or inspire. I will Zendoodle. I tried out my DH’s suggestion for mirror letters.
8. Plan a new idea or activity you want to try out this year. I have a water color set. I will experiment with that.
9. When you feel you can’t do something, add the word ‘yet’. I need to remember this.
10. Be curious, learn about a new topic or an inspiring idea. I learned about Alonon and downloaded their app and read through it.
11. Choose a different route and see what you notice on the way. I did this on my walk today.
12. Find out something new about someone you care about. Research time!
13. Do something playful outdoors - walk, run, explore, relax. Took a walk.
14. Find a new way to help or support a cause you care about. Have to think about this.
15. Build on new ideas by thinking “yes, and what if…” I will remember this!
16. Look at life at someone else’s eyes and see their perspective. According to my therapist, this is called empathy. I do this but not enough. Will try to do better.
17. Try a new way to practice self-care and be kind to yourself. Staying in bed and resting today.

Squeaky wheels. . .
Lanette good riddance to pantyhose indeed! You could add a slot car track so we could drop off our husbands and our dogs at the same time . . . ;}
Kylia hope your SIL’s C-19 is mild and you can see the grands soon.
Lisa “Power to the sisterhood, indeed. You all have taken up residence in my heart, and I am thankful for that...” Amen, sister, amen!

Never been a big fan of jersey, Kirby likes it, told him to make enough for him only if he makes them. Apples were done yesterday, now he’s doing bananas. Not much time, just peel and slice.4 -
Today enjoy some of the following!

Morning from the sunny, freezing climes of central America... not the capitalized Central America, but the central United States of America, you know... Arkansas.
Well, that was unnecessarily confusing, now, wasn't it.
Barbara AHMOD - So pleased about Joe's bench, what a lovely tribute to you both and your time together.
Tracey - So love the things you make, hope you sell everything...
Slept soooo well last night, didn't get up until 7 a.m., and have already had my good morning call from Corey and talked to my daughter this morning. When she's walking in the early morning (4 a.m. her time!) she calls me. Love hearing her voice.
Am so grateful for the connection with the kids, and since their birth mother died, they've both been more intent on getting in touch with me often. While she wasn't part of their lives on a day-to-day basis by the time she died, it's a loss, and I recognize that even if they haven't realized it quite yet. So glad I can be there for them. I know, too, that I'm also part of the attachment to their dad, who is so important to both of them. Their feelings for him run very deep, not least because their mom disappeared into the drugs and alcohol when they were quite young.
Got my soundscape going, washer and dryer swooshing, dishwasher gurgling and burbling - it takes us two days to fill it up now! Got my grandson's afghan boxed up and ready to mail, but will probably wait and mail it after the holiday. There is never a line at our tiny post office that's just around the corner... I might pop up to the grocery store just past the post office and pick up a pre-made pie crust. There are many things I am willing to make from scratch, but pie crust is not one of them. Still thinking about it - I've got lots of pecans in the freezer, and a pecan pie sounds good, even if I will only eat a sliver.
My heart goes out to those of you who are caretakers for the ones you love--both now and in the past. That burden, whether it's shouldered willingly or reluctantly, is an incredible weight. So often, no one says "thank you for your service," but it needs saying, just like veterans need to hear that their service matters. Your service matters too, my dears.
Hope it's a lovely day, I've nattered long enough!
Love y'all,
Lisa in AR6 -
Rori--So sorry about your friend. Sending hugs and prayers for both of you. Sounds like lots of fun with N. So happy for you.
Annie--So glad your mom did not break her hip. Thank you for all you are doing for your parents.
Well after today I am off for 4 days and so looking forward. Tomorrow going to DES for Thanksgiving dinner. All their kids and grandkids will be there. I have my pumkin pie and cool whip ready. Then Saturday wil have Thanksgiving with DYS and DD and have a turkey and dressing to make for that. I would like to get cards out and get them started. Last evening DH and I took our Christmas picture with us and the 2 furbabies in our new grinch PJ's. It was quite the job, but got one done we can use. Tell myself it looks like us and that is the important thing. Now to get the letter done. I feel time is flying by and this year will be over before we know it.
I want to Thank each of you for being a part of my life and loving me the way I am. I love each of you.
Blessings, Vicki GRAND ISLAND, NE10 -
