Today’s gratitude: Joe said “I know what you can get me for Christmas, a bench for the powerline meadow.” Amazing as he usually wants nothng for and to do with the holidays. Showed Joe 3 possible garden benches, liked the one he chose ;) Then he said “we can sit on it together and watch the ocean.”:heart::heart:

Debbie, Lisa, Michele Thanks! Do you freeze the fudge before you cut it into squares? Any special wrapping?

November: Move more: chair yoga, line dance, dailyish PT, play with dogs.
Fuel better: less sugar, CI<CO, dailyish vitamins.
Live NOW: dailyish time with Joe, readings, start meditating. Open heart and mind before mouth.
    2023: Be of good cheer.

That is sweet that Joe wants a gift that he wants to share with you.

For the fudge, I wrap the whole pound in seran wrap then a ziploc bag or pull the seal a meal out and use that.(I need to remember to do that with the ones I am sending to former hubby and what ever fudge is left-) found a pound of fudge in the fridge from last year- still looks exactly like when I put it in there. It was in the meat drawer in the garage fridge- that doesn't get used for meat, just misc.

Koshu, the kitten is no longer on my lap so I can type without getting chewed on ;)

    Good morning ladies,

Heather - gosh that was a beautiful dress, you looked stunning. But I understand, why keep it around. I went through the stage of giving way all my dresses and skirts several years ago. They were cute but no longer fit and just weren't comfortable because I'd have to wear panty hose. :s Good riddance. And gals were wearing pants everywhere, even church and weddings. I have some nice dressy tops and call it good.

    Lanette B)
    SW WA State

I am the opposite- I went out and bought a bunch of dresses/skirts about 6 yrs ago- I always had dresses but rarely wore them until I started going back to church. This church is very conservative and almost every lady there wears dresses/skirts. Only one or two will wear pants(men are mostly in shirts and ties w/ jacket, even the little boys)
I need to get my weight back down so the skirts fit better. The one I wore Sunday was a bit snug in the waist.
I very very rarely wear nylons. I can't stand the pressure on my stomach.
I wear leggings under all of the dresses/skirts- capri length under the shorter ones, full length under my long ones- a LOT more comfortable than the slips we used to wear.
I now have two pairs of knee high boots(one tan that I just got and one black)

With my former brother in law. His dad refers to the lady he is dating as his
"lady friend"- they are in their mid 50's so more appropriate than "girl friend"

Got things ready (sort-of) to take to Jess’. Also made more of the protein pancakes as I may wind up taking some up with me. Put a load of laundry in. Since it’s raining (drizzling), I’ll probably do a Leslie Sansone DVD in a bit

barbie – so glad Jake is better. When we go to Jess’, I’m going to take another coat with me (versus the one I took the last time. This one has more pockets. I’m going to work with Gannon not to pull. I know that “treats” (I’ll just use kibble) is a strong motivator for him. I’m hoping it’ll be strong enough

M – I couldn’t get that video to start. I don’t see any seams so I’m thinking that it’s not an inflatable that she’s in. So the only other thing I can think of is that it’s a hologram. But it WAS impressive to see it, that’s certainly not something that I’d expected

Barbara – I do cut my fudge before freezing. Otherwise, it would be too hard to cut frozen. So that would mean every time I’d want a piece, I’d have to thaw it. And who can wait that long???? lol As long as it’s cool. I don’t lay mine out on a cookie sheet to freeze and then put it in a bag in the freezer. Yes, sometimes they stick. But it’s never been so hard to take them apart that I’ve given up. No special wrapping, I’ve just put mine in a plastic bag. A lot of times I go to things without Vince.

Heather – that can’t be the dress you’re going to get rid of? Unless you don’t have it zipped up in the back, it looks like it fits you well.

Regarding “partner”….maybe I DO need to adjust my thinking. Ginny – thanks for pointing out how it signifies a commitment. So you’re saying that the bubble the singer was in was an inflatable and she just went into it via a trap door? But if it was an inflatable, it would have to be super-airtight. We didn’t see it when we walked into the concert, so it wasn’t something that was there and she just went into.

I donated all the gowns I had and most of the dresses. I did keep two or so, just for funerals, and a nice one for weddings and other fancy occasions. Really, most of them didn’t fit me because I hadn’t bought a dress in about 20 or more years. And I’m no longer in my 30’s (but I wish I was)

Kylia – sorry about SIL. Hope that Covid is a mild case

Terri – oh, I more than enjoyed the concert!!!!!

Lisa – your wedding dress is so lovely. Maybe a local theater company can use it? I know when the gal who used to run the ceramics place got divorced, she gave me her wedding dress to donate to them. She didn’t “want anyone else to have the bad luck”...lol Anyway, they said they’d be glad to take it as they didn’t have a cream colored dress. Yours has the black and white which is different, so maybe they would want it

Allie – that turkey is too cute to cook, but cute enough to want to give it hugs.

Gina – happy anniversary. Where are you going? Congrats on your loss!

Beth – you sure can eat the fudge when it’s frozen. In some ways, it’s really better because it forces you to take longer to eat it….lol

Do they still make pantyhose?????? I couldn’t tell you

Tracey – your ornaments are SOOOOO cute. How big are they?

Carol – kafli is some sort of German dish that’s basically a pasta,. I found some of it at Aldi and thought it was something different. As far as family traditions: I’ll be making the pierogi in the next few weeks. This is the only time during the year that I make them from scratch. Why I used to make the dough with my hands is beyond me. Last year I put all the ingredients in the mixer with the dough hook and it worked wonderfully. My grandmother used to roll the dough out, I use the pasta maker attachment. Am I lazy or what???

    Off to do that DVD

    1. Make a list of new things you want to do this month. 1. Start Christmas shopping, 2. Work on my happiness, 3. Walk the mall at least once. 4. Read a new book
    2. Respond to a difficult situation in a different way. I will see what comes up, but the daily readings I do have helped a lot already! Did this!
    3. Get outside and observe the changes in nature around you..Supposed to be in the low 80’s (f) here today and the week to come so will have plenty of time to do this. Didn’t do this today, sick.
    4. Sign up to join a new course, activity, or online community. I’ll have to look around for this. Thinking about something to do with MCC. I joined 2 new groups on FB.
    5. Change your normal routine today and notice how you feel. Will do!
    6. Try out a new way of being physically active. I will have to think about this. Maybe do a YouTube video. Did not do this.
    7. Be creative. Cook, draw, write, paint, make or inspire. I will Zendoodle. I tried out my DH’s suggestion for mirror letters.
    8. Plan a new idea or activity you want to try out this year. I have a water color set. I will experiment with that.
    9. When you feel you can’t do something, add the word ‘yet’. I need to remember this.
    10. Be curious, learn about a new topic or an inspiring idea. I learned about Alonon and downloaded their app and read through it.
    11. Choose a different route and see what you notice on the way. I did this on my walk today.
    12. Find out something new about someone you care about. Research time!
    13. Do something playful outdoors - walk, run, explore, relax. Took a walk.
    14. Find a new way to help or support a cause you care about. Have to think about this.
    15. Build on new ideas by thinking “yes, and what if…” I will remember this!
    16. Look at life at someone else’s eyes and see their perspective. According to my therapist, this is called empathy. I do this but not enough. Will try to do better.
    17. Try a new way to practice self-care and be kind to yourself. Staying in bed and resting today.
    18. Connect with someone from a different generation. I do this most days at the park.
    19. Broaden your perspective: read a different paper, magazine, or site. Will do!
    20. Make a meal using a recipe or ingredient you haven’t used before. My DH does this all the time! He does all the cooking.
    21. Learn a new skill from a friend or share one of yours with them. Hmmmm
    22. Find a new way to tell someone you appreciate them.
    23. Set aside a time to pursue an activity your love.
    24. Share with a friend something useful you learned recently.
    25. Use one of your strengths in a new and creative way.
    26. Try out a different radio station or new TV show.
    27. Join a friend doing a hobby and find out why they love it.
    28. Discover your creative side. Design a friendly greeting card.
    29. Enjoy new music today. Play, sing, dance or listen.
    30. Look for new reasons to be hopeful, even in tough times.

    Barbie--Glad that Jake it ok.
Heather--Happy Anniversary to both of you.
    Ginny--So cute.
I have heard the expression lady or male friend used a lot for couples around our age.
Well work tomorrow than have 4 days off. We are to do family pictures Sunday with DS and family and grand children. They want to do that outside at the park. Weatherman says snow Friday and Saturday and cold. So not sure what Sunday will be like and I do not like the idea of standing around outside in cold snowy weather. See what they plan next.

Freezing Fudge ... yes you can ... and you can also eat it in the frozen state ...ask me how I know ... lol!

Barbara ... the bench and Joe's reason for it ... perfect!

Annie ... ask the primary physician about a nephrologist. Given your mom's age, the kidney issues might be able to be treated with her current team of medical professionals. I could be carting my mom to one specialist after another, but I don't because there isn't much to gain by it. Of course, each situation is different. You can also ask the primary doctor for advice on services at home. The doctor is the one to order them anyways. Even after my mom had a short ER visit for a fall, the discharge nurse asked if I wanted "rehab" ... I asked why and then she reminded me that it was another way to get PT/OT into her apartment for a few weeks.

Ginny ... congratulations on your new granddaughter!

Question: Do any of you have tinnitus and have you tried Lipo Flavonoid?

Getting ready for Thanksgiving. It will just be my guys and my mom for the day. Still, I go overboard. Don't know how many more I have with my mom so I'll do it up big.

Tinnitus ... yes, quite loudly at times. It's part of my hearing loss progression.

Lipo Flavonoid ... no. Never heard of it.

Heather the very happiest of anniversaries to you and Johnny. hearing your stories read to the next generation.
Rosemarie so glad you had such an enjoyable trip.
Kylia thankful your DED has a dog sitter with nerves of steel. When I was about 12 a family friend taught his daughter and me gun safet and how to shoot a 22 rifle. Still remember being surprised by the “kick”. Sunday socializing and sending the men off on their own, do they stay together? Sounds like a good way to sneak in some socialization for the guys too! Thinking of Machka’s dementia causes posts. . .
Annie :heartbreak: and just ((hugs)) Really hope your Mom will accept bathing and other help from the home health nurse.
Lanette love your questions and how you think.
Margaret I’ve always carried too much around my waist. There are pictures of me as a skinny legged child with a pot belly, not quite kwashiorkor but . . . Hope your MD has some next steps to help with your breathing.
Rebecca your sister’s place is beautiful! Sure hope her riding mower is a mulcher. . . ;)
Debbie, Lisa, Michele Thanks! Do you freeze the fudge before you cut it into squares? Any special wrapping?
Lisa looks like Egg put her foot down. That’s enough writing for now!
Sue, yours to Annie. Truth that.
Vicki so glad you had a good weekend, you deserve it and many more.
Rebecca “ But I felt sad to tell her. I have learned I can't force Lee into situations he is not comfortable in. I have to also support my husband, and not be one sided or another.” Yes this. Took me a very very very long time to come to your wisdom and still sometimes grieve Joe’s absence from social gatherings, but have to respect his boundaries/comfort level.
Carol fingers Xd for the leaf removal.
Ginny what a cute little bug-in-a-rug Luna is!
Barbie thankful Jake is OK. Love the good for you both long walk with Annie. Treats, positive behaviors and interactions and best of all her nap with Jake ;)
Tracey Rodger and Joe could be brothers from another mother. I’m a half intro and half extra, an ixtrovert? Need time out and about with people, then quiet time at home to recover
Machka agree. I use “partner” when I don’t know if a couple is married or not.
11/20: Move: ZERO sets PT , line dance class, dogs to powerline, Steps:8254
    Fuel: sugar in vs mfp=15 CI<CO net=442 vits=1
Live: Joe, readings, BP, AF, ptT, ptS, library, Post Office, Grocery Outlet, found piano scales fingerings. Wt:131.2
    Time to snooze. Need to get up early to get PT exercises in before MD appointment. Hope s/he has something helpful to say about right leg pains… ;}
    Later, lighter, lovelies!

She has an attachment that sucks all the leaves up and shoots them in a bag thingie. Then she puts the leaves on her burn pile. Her granddaughters come out and help her. They are 6, 8,13. Each of them can drive the gator well. 😁

    Good morning ladies,

Ginny - Luna is adorable, thanks for posting that photo. Good luck at the podiatrist today. Sounds like you've firmed up where your retirement residence will be. ;)

Michele - you are the energizer bunny doing all of that cooking in one day. :p It's been hard for me to get used to calling anyone a "partner" unless it's in the business sense such as investors in legal partnership. That's what I think of first when someone uses the term. And yes, "boyfriend" or "girlfriend" when the couple is older seems awkward. "Significant other" sums it up in a way I can understand. That's what I'd probably say if I had a special guy in my life at this stage. Or maybe just "good buddy." Fascinating how language has evolved in the past 50 years, but then it probably has always been that way. I'm sure our parents and grandparents noticed the same thing.

Now I'm curious about reverse lunges. I looked them up. I'd have to hang on to something because of my dicey feet but I can see how they'd be helpful.

    Barbara
    - a bench overlooking the ocean sounds wonderful. Good for Joe! Like many of our husbands, my DH also begged off going to places with me as he got older. He was perfectly fine staying home and watching TV with the dogs while I went to parties or dinners out with couple friends. The other husbands there probably were jealous and wondered how he pulled it off. :p Glad to hear you'll be able to enjoy a Thanksgiving meal with your friend.

Rebecca - your sister's place is beautiful. It's good she can handle the equipment to keep it up. I'd probably just blow the leaves off the driveway once they have all fallen and call it good, lol. I still have leaves strewn all over the front yard where I blew them last week. My neighbor 2 doors down was mowing over his leaves for about half an hour yesterday, really mulching them down. It was 45F here with a stiff breeze coming out of the north so with the wind chill, it was probably around 40F. I thought - have at it, buddy. If it gets into the mid-50's again I might take the big mower out and mulch them if the soil isn't too soft, but then maybe not.

Barbie - glad Jake is OK. Yesterday after throwing Rosie's toys down the hallway for the 50th time, I thought I bet there'd be interest if I set up a small greyhound type track with a mechanical rabbit that dogs could chase to wear them out. Maybe $2 a minute, $10 minimum. Plus a little illegal betting on the side to help boost my retirement income, lol. I'd let Annie chase it for free. ;)

Cleaner coming this morning at 9, and hour later than normal. I think she has PT for her plantar fasciitis or something. I'm slightly put out because it throws me off schedule. Then I remind myself I don't have to be anywhere so what's the big deal? And I enjoy her company so much, any time she wants to come by really is perfect. :D

So will close for now. Make it a good day!

    Lanette B)

I have chatted to my sister about the commitment she's taken on, living in that 1875 home. Her son put a video camera up by the door so he can be notified of any movement. The other morning she wrote GOOD MORNING on a piece of cardboard and showed it to the camera. 😁 I think it will give her some peace of mind knowing her family is keeping track of her a bit. I talked to her about really listening at what she's capable of doing as she gets older. She's 68 presently. I told her that I realize weeding puts her into a Zen mode, but she weeds until the day is over and she can barely walk the next day. Also does she really want the responsibility of caring for everything, and not traveling or feel like she doesn't have the freedom to do that if she wants to?
