Morning All,
Did eventually pull myself to the gym yesterday but also had almost three quarters of a frozen pizza and two instead of one truffle chocolates so Iβm very annoyed at letting myself slip. Renewed focus today!

01/13-182.0-(Trend Weight 181.0)- My scale arrived late yesterday afternoon after posting so I got it all set up, downloaded the app etc. It looks like Iβm up about 2.2 lbs from my last known weight although that scale reading on the 8th may not have been accurate. My trend weight is slightly down. Gosh, I hate starting over with a different scale. The pressure was so bad thinking about it last night that I broke into the back of the freezer for some of that chocolate. I also ate dinner twice with 2 totally different foods. Self-sabotage. I noticed that this new scale has my weight at about what I would expect after a binge, but the fat percentage is WAY WAY higher on the new one. I guess I just have to lump it and start fresh from here. We got 15β of snow yesterday and overnight. At least 6 more expected today and more tomorrow too. We are all hunkered down. I have spent most of the morning shoveling. Tonight my foodie daughter, DGS, DS and myself will cook and have a nice hot dinner. Iβll be using the oven so it will help keep the house warm. Stay safe everyone!
01/14-183.0-(Trend Weight 181.2)- No TMI x 3 so I had to pull out the orange Metamucil stuff thatβs been sitting in my cabinet. Also, I have been weighing in wearing a much longer and heavier nightgown than normal since its extra cold and snowy in northern Michigan. Yes, I do weigh in wearing my jammies as it puts me closer to what my doctor will see when I have appointments. DD and DGS pretty much still snowed in here. Today we are planning a big spiral ham for dinner that she got from work for Christmas. We are going to try our hand at a new recipe for βsmashβ potatoes. I guess you thickly cut potatoes much wider than steak fries, microwave to soften, smash them down with a fork individually then air fry. Potatoes are a bit of a luxury for me so I will enjoy dinner but it sounds like a lot of sodium! Iβll try to push water today but itβs always a challenge as I prefer my coffee until evening. Funny thing about my new scaleβ¦. The weight is higher and the fat % higher, but the visceral fat is lower and so at least I have something to celebrate!

Jan. 3-182.4 lbs. fitness class
Jan. 4-181.2 lbs. morning swim
Jan. 5-182 lbs. bad night, didnβt sleep, so ate. Really weird behaviour as I really want to lose 3 or 4 lbs. before I go on a cruise at the end of January. Smarten up Melπ«¨! Anyway, the good news is I swam for an hour this morning and am determined to get back on track. Have 2, sweet, 10 year old granddaughters coming over for a sleepover over today. They wonβt do it at their homes, but insist on coming hereπ€. They know what theyβre doingπ΅π».

Jan. 9- 179.6 lbs. whoo whoo!π€© Finally broke into the 170βs. I hope it stays.
Jan. 10-179 lbs. This is so inspiring. I went to an osteoporosis class and then did 15 min. on the elliptical afterwards. I think I see my waist starting to emergeππ².

Jan. 12- 178.4 lbs. normal fluctuation, fitness class
Jan. 13-DNW let myself get emotionally derailed by an unsuspecting friend

Hello, Iβm Heidi. Iβm 55, 5β5β and I live in Dallas/Ft. Worth, Texas area.
My goals for January:
1 - Weigh in daily

01.03.24 - 167 (swelling is continuing to go back up)
01.04.24 - 167.5 (calling surgeon to see why I am blowing up like a balloon)
01.05.24 - 167.2 (surgeon says I am okay - here's to hoping it was just water retention!)
01.06.24 - 166 (much better)
01.07.24 - 165.1 (almost back to my post surgical weight)
01.08.24 - 164.2 (swelling weight gain GONE plus .7 more!!)

01.13.24 - 162.9 (oops forgot to post but I did weigh)
01.14.24 - 163.9 (serves me right for not posting, lol)
Exercise:
1 - Started small stretches (arms above head, side twists) which are going well. The pulling on my
incisions was horrible at first but are less so after a week. I also started doing some modified
bridges in the hopes that my healing abdominal muscles would start strengthening up. I am
walking much better and even walked the entire trip to Costco and pushed the cart. The hubby
still won't let me lift much except the small laundry basket!
2 - I'm getting much more walking in this week and slowly building up my stamina after surgery. I'm stretching more and more now as well. I still haven't gotten true exercise in the form of biking or aerobics but that will come soon (I hope).
Highest weight Sep 2004: 315
Gastric Bypass weight Jan 2005: 281
Lowest weight Nov 2005: 142 (told to gain weight)
Highest recent weight Jun 2023: 228.8 (lost and gained throughout the years - oops)
Skin removal surgery weight Nov 2023: 175
Goal weight: ??? (I'm okay where I am but wouldn't mind losing a little more)

Jan 2: 163.8 π£ π π₯ π¦ Met my New Year's goal - did a 10K walk yesterday AM. Was ravenous all day, but managed to stay under my calorie limit by 5 calories. I would say a successful day. I'm still .2 pounds away from my lowwest weight (just before Christmas).
Jan 3: 162.8 π π£ π π₯ π¦ Funny thing happened to yesterday. Greg, Monty and I started the Airline Trail today (I am feeling nostalgic so want to do it again, and we started off with a big one day 6.2 miles. When we got back to the car, Greg noticed he didn't have his wallet. Thought he left it on the counter at home. Got home, no wallet, now we think he must have dropped it on the trail as we were walking, so we drove back to the trail at the half way point. Greg went one way - I went the other looking for the wallet, another 3.7 miles and didn't find it. When we got home - Greg remembered he took the truck out yesterday - left it in the center console. LOL! So, my 6.2 walked turned into 9.9, silver linings I guess! Here are some pictures from the walk (the first time).
Jan 4: 162.8 π£ π π₯ π¦
Jan 5 : 163.4 π£ π πͺ π¦ Couldn't sleep, got up, raided the pantry. When I posted last night it triggered me to stop, but a little too late. Today is my rest day. Off to visit my husband's cousin, celebrate Christmas. Will try to get a small walk in this afternoon. Won't be able to weigh everything, but we are bringing lunch with us, so should be able to estimate and log everything.
Jan 6: 162.8 π π₯ Spent yesterday at my husband's eldery cousins house -5 hours in a car, and sitting all day with her - so not much movement yesterday. I did log everything, and used estimates for measuring. I jumped on the treadmill when I got home - got 2 miles in - counting it as my rest day.
Jan 7: 162.8 π£ π π₯ π¦ Just a quiet day at home - hubby was out all day. Finished the book I was reading, waiting for the winter storm to arrive - it came - not as much as expected. Just enough to make it pretty, and for me to get a little strength exercise today shoveling the driveway, but not enough to kill me. Actually looking forward to it. Probably won't get an outside walk today.
Jan 9: 163.6 π£ π π₯ πͺ π¦ Had some salty soup (was delicious), so expected the scale to stay the same or go up and it did. Went to Bingo with mom last night - won the door prize ($10). Yahoo. Mom seemed a little down yesterday, hoping all is ok. The arthritis in her hip has been bothering her for years, they give her injections - but the last one didn't really help much. She has her annual appointment with her doctor today - hoping they can figure something out so that she isn't in so much pain everyday.
Jan 10: 163.4 π£ π π₯ π§ββοΈ π¦
Jan 11: 163.2 π£ π π₯ π¦
Jan 12: 162.4 π£ π π₯ π¦ Finally - a drop! Took a beautiful walk on the Airline Trail today. After the snow we had a couple inches of rain; it washed all the snow away - but made for some great waterfalls on the trail; I counted seven.
Jan 13: 162 π£ π π₯ πͺ π¦Woo Hoo! Rainy morning here today, so will get my chores done in the AM, and hopefully get my walk in after the rain ends.
Jan 14: 161.8 π£ π π₯ π¦ Rainy morning yesterday - cleaned and organized my closet - brought two big bags to Goodwill of things that no longer fit. Moved the one size up clothes to the hall closet. I'm kind of in between sizes - the things I am wearing are a little too big - but can' quite fit into the size down. Soon enough! The afternoon was beautiful - we hit the 60 degree mark in January - so we took an afternoon walk.
Jan 15: 162.4 π£ π π₯ πͺπ¦ I was over my sodium limit, and it shows. Also used all my calories (usually leave half of my calories earned by exercise). It's temporary.5 -

Hi, this is my first time in this challenge and I'm very happy to be here! I'm 66 YO, 5' 2" and officially overweight (again). I've dieted since I was 11 YO and my mom had a chart on the broom closet wall. I've been through the yo-yo weight gain and loss too many times and it's not healthy. Been as high as 165 (2007), as low as 115 (2008). I gained and lost 15-20 lbs at least 3 times in the last 15 years and that's self-defeating- and not healthy. My main goal now is to lose the weight (yes!) AND change my habits to a sustainable lifestyle that allows me to eat well and maintain my fitness.
Wk 3: 1/15-1/21/24:
Goals for the week:
* mini-vacation next weekend- stay thoughtful about my choices and keep logging
* weigh every day- I bought a travel scale!

Checking in and absolutely screaming with frustration. I gained two pounds. After two WEEKS of not missing a workout. Two weeks of logging every bite and sip. I didn't hit my calorie goal on Saturday, and that's it.

Yesterday it was so cold the lock to my mailbox was frozen. So, I used a mini-torch I had to brown food to thaw the frozen lock. It reminded me I haven't made Creme Brulee for a long time. I felt compelled to make some and then eat it. Ha! That could be my problem. Anyway, it is gone now, back to the grind!
I can't be trusted when I'm "Home Alone". My wife and adult supervision is still dog sitting for a friend and won't be home until next Sunday.

Jan 14: out or town. We had a wonderful time out of town. We ate out at a restaurant twice. The food was amazing. I savored and enjoyed it- no shame. Balanced lean protein and no drinks with the most amazing dessert. Fabulous breakfast pancakes the next day. Back on it this morning.
