Did not have a good day yesterday. Woke up very tired. Did not walk. Did not log all my food and certainly overate and drank at dinner time. Surprised the scale didnβt reflect it this morning. Will see what tomorrow brings.
But, I decided to put that behind me and carry on. Lovely walk along the beach front this morning. Got to see the start on one of the legs of the Tour Down Under (big international bike race here in Australia) very busy. Then spent the afternoon in the garden

Hello I'm Darlene and have been with this group for a while now. Retired, 63-year-old. Married (Greg), one adult daughter (Allyson), and one goldendoodle (Monty). I have been on this weight loss journey since January 2023. πI wouldn't be where I am today without this group (along with a couple other challenges I am in); I am so thankful for their support and accountability. π

Jan 2: 163.8 π£ π π₯ π¦ Met my New Year's goal - did a 10K walk yesterday AM. Was ravenous all day, but managed to stay under my calorie limit by 5 calories. I would say a successful day. I'm still .2 pounds away from my lowwest weight (just before Christmas).
Jan 3: 162.8 π π£ π π₯ π¦ Funny thing happened to yesterday. Greg, Monty and I started the Airline Trail today (I am feeling nostalgic so want to do it again, and we started off with a big one day 6.2 miles. When we got back to the car, Greg noticed he didn't have his wallet. Thought he left it on the counter at home. Got home, no wallet, now we think he must have dropped it on the trail as we were walking, so we drove back to the trail at the half way point. Greg went one way - I went the other looking for the wallet, another 3.7 miles and didn't find it. When we got home - Greg remembered he took the truck out yesterday - left it in the center console. LOL! So, my 6.2 walked turned into 9.9, silver linings I guess! Here are some pictures from the walk (the first time).

Jan 5 : 163.4 π£ π πͺ π¦ Couldn't sleep, got up, raided the pantry. When I posted last night it triggered me to stop, but a little too late. Today is my rest day. Off to visit my husband's cousin, celebrate Christmas. Will try to get a small walk in this afternoon. Won't be able to weigh everything, but we are bringing lunch with us, so should be able to estimate and log everything.
Jan 6: 162.8 π π₯ Spent yesterday at my husband's eldery cousins house -5 hours in a car, and sitting all day with her - so not much movement yesterday. I did log everything, and used estimates for measuring. I jumped on the treadmill when I got home - got 2 miles in - counting it as my rest day.
Jan 7: 162.8 π£ π π₯ π¦ Just a quiet day at home - hubby was out all day. Finished the book I was reading, waiting for the winter storm to arrive - it came - not as much as expected. Just enough to make it pretty, and for me to get a little strength exercise today shoveling the driveway, but not enough to kill me. Actually looking forward to it. Probably won't get an outside walk today.
Jan 8: 163.6 βΉοΈπ£ π π₯ πͺ Doesn't make sense, but that is what the scale says today - so that's what I am posting.
Jan 9: 163.6 π£ π π₯ πͺ π¦ Had some salty soup (was delicious), so expected the scale to stay the same or go up and it did. Went to Bingo with mom last night - won the door prize ($10). Yahoo. Mom seemed a little down yesterday, hoping all is ok. The arthritis in her hip has been bothering her for years, they give her injections - but the last one didn't really help much. She has her annual appointment with her doctor today - hoping they can figure something out so that she isn't in so much pain everyday.

Jan 13: 162 π£ π π₯ πͺ π¦Woo Hoo! Rainy morning here today, so will get my chores done in the AM, and hopefully get my walk in after the rain ends.
Jan 14: 161.8 π£ π π₯ π¦ Rainy morning yesterday - cleaned and organized my closet - brought two big bags to Goodwill of things that no longer fit. Moved the one size up clothes to the hall closet. I'm kind of in between sizes - the things I am wearing are a little too big - but can' quite fit into the size down. Soon enough! The afternoon was beautiful - we hit the 60 degree mark in January - so we took an afternoon walk.

Jan 19: 160.6 ππ£ π π₯π¦ Just another quiet day at home yesterday. Looking at some vacation homes in FL to get a way from the cold for a week or two - possibly in February. We would have to bring Monty with us this time, his long time babysitter is no longer available and don't want to leave him in a kennel, she stayed at our home while we were away. To find another one that would do that, and that we trust is nearly impossible. Allyson usually takes care of him when we go on weekend trips - but when we go away during the week she is at work all day so need someone to take him out. The dog situation has made traveling a little more difficult. Don't get me wrong - I love taking him with us - it's just a long ride instead of a plane ticket.

I had a fabulous day bowling yesterday and decided to celebrate too much. So, I paid the price at the scales this morning. Here's the good news, as I approach a healthy weight, I perform better athletically. I feel stronger, lighter, and quicker. I should because, since Sep last year, I have shed the weight of my bowling ball, 15 pounds.
I've got to find another alternative to reward myself other than food or drink. Ha!

01/19-DNW-(Trend Weight DNW)- Today is no-weigh Friday. Such cold freezing temps this morning to have to get DGS to the bus stop. It is just to the end of the block but we will drive. Taking my Fosamax with water while I get him ready since I have an hour for the process of that medication. Back to bed and then I will post later. Today he has Β½ day because itβs the end of the marking period so I will meet the bus at about 12;10. The snack monster continues to chase me, but meals have been clean. I tried Zumba yesterday and stopped after about 15 minutes. I felt like an uncoordinated bumbling fool. And itβs not for the faint of heart either! Wow itβs different as you age and when you are out of shape! This seems much easier than the Richard Simmons I did years ago in the 80's. But that was 40 years ago so I guess I get it. I will try several different Zumba videos though and fit in into my rotation for a bit and see if my body can come around. I am looking to shake it up a bit.
01/20-183.6-(Trend Weight 182.3)- Very early weigh-in for me. I travel today about 4 hours round trip. Iβm taking my DGS to see the movie Migration. Iβll do some grocery shopping while in the bigger city too since they have the big box stores. It will be very cold though as it is -2 F today. I expect a bump up on the scale tomorrow but nothing I canβt live down and overcome. Lots of sitting and a late lunch will be at a restaurant.

 01.18.24 - 163.1
 01.19.24 - 163.3
 01.20.24 - 161.9
 Exercise:
1 - Started small stretches (arms above head, side twists) which are going well. The pulling on my
incisions was horrible at first but are less so after a week. I also started doing some modified
bridges in the hopes that my healing abdominal muscles would start strengthening up. I am
walking much better and even walked the entire trip to Costco and pushed the cart. The hubby
still won't let me lift much except the small laundry basket!
2 - I'm getting much more walking in this week and slowly building up my stamina after surgery. I'm stretching more and more now as well. I still haven't gotten true exercise in the form of biking or aerobics but that will come soon (I hope).

Better buckle down a bit more next week.

Jan 18: 161.2 π π£ π π₯ π¦ Bitterly cold yesterday. We did get out for a bit - but only about a mile and a half hike - had to get the rest of my steps in on the treadmill. It's going to be the same today.

They're bouncy, trouncy, flouncy, pouncy Fun, fun, fun, fun, fun! But the most wonderful thing about tiggers is I'm the only one!" That's how I feel today.
Jan 21: 162.2 βΉοΈ Did it to myself, it was just one of those days. Missed every goal. I did get outside for a walk, but it was so cold we just went two miles and I didn't hit the treadmill in the afternoon. I went out last night for a fundraising event for the food bank and started with the snacks - then I continued to binged on the snacks after I got home. Salty gets me every time. Today is a new fresh day.

Today we are three weeks into the New Year. So far, I've lost 5 pounds this year and 15 pounds since Sep 1, 2023. Even more important to me is, the BMI for my height and weight is 29.6. I know I am retaining water today so I hope for a drop tomorrow, but itβs going to take more than some fluid loss to right this wrong. If youβve been around awhile then you know Iβm either full-steam-ahead on track or Iβm lollygagging somewhere off the beaten path. There doesnβt seem to be an in-between for me. Hello, Iβm Heidi. Iβm 55, 5β5β and I live in Dallas/Ft. Worth, Texas area.

 01.01.24 - 165.9 (.1 over my post surgical low)
01.02.24 - 166.5 (swelling is going back up)
01.03.24 - 167 (swelling is continuing to go back up)
01.04.24 - 167.5 (calling surgeon to see why I am blowing up like a balloon)
01.05.24 - 167.2 (surgeon says I am okay - here's to hoping it was just water retention!)
 01.06.24 - 166 (much better)
01.07.24 - 165.1 (almost back to my post surgical weight)
01.08.24 - 164.2 (swelling weight gain GONE plus .7 more!!)

 01.19.24 - 163.3
 01.20.24 - 161.9
 01.21.24 - 161

Completely bloated π€° and oh for the love of god the scales went up again. WHY? Just why? Itβs getting ridiculous. I have been trying quite hard to lose weight and I am barely losing anything. I may have to reduce my calorie intake but am reluctant to do this as it can lead to binging for me. So over it. Feel like eating a tonne of chocolate, dip and chips and maybe some crΓ¨me cakes.
Or I can just hang in there and remind myself itβs probably water retention.
