@Melwillbehealthy funny you mentioned your height. I was 5'6" tall for most of my adult life. Now I'm only 5' 4" tall. I shrunk! My claim is I'm not too fat, I'm too short now. Ha! I seem to be going the other way with my weight lately so you may pass me. Not that we're in a race??? We're in this together buddy. See you in the 160s.3

My name is Donna. I am 5β 5β tall, 63 years old and from the Michigan USA. In 2016 I weighed 253 lbs. I am on a journey of health and to get back to the real me.
Every healthy habit brings me closer to scratching each of these off to NEVER see them again!

Weight in blue makes me blue because itβs a gain. Weight in fuchsia pink makes me feel cheery because itβs a loss. Weight in black means no change.

01/08-DNW-(Trend Weight DNW)- I woke up to a big disappointment. I got on my scales and they kept flipping from 174.8 to 175.4 which I know is impossible at this time. I havenβt even had TMI so they should be the same or even up slightly from yesterdayβs weight. Also, it did not change over and show me the fat %, Water %, and all the other data it usually gives. It just went black after the weight every time I tried it. All the functions worked perfectly yesterday. I didnβt have another set of AAA batteries so I borrowed some from my TV remote and it still would not work properly. Iβm afraid itβs time for a new scale. This one only lasted two years at most. Strange that it stays nicely lit but wonβt perform. Anyway, Iβll be scouring Amazon for a new one today so I wonβt be able to weigh until it comes in. I must stay diligent and not let my brain go into free-for-all mode just because I donβt have to weigh for a few days. Yes, I have common sense, but that could very easily happen anyway so I am going to pre-log all my food as soon as I am done posting on my challenges to help me stay in line. I will also force myself to exercise today as I could possibly get lax on that too, thinking Iβm getting away with murder with no scale. It kind of feels like the teacher is absent today and I have a brand new very young substitute. As far as I think I have come in this weight loss journey, boy am I ever weak and boy oh boy, do I EVER have such a long way to go. Sometimes the physical part is easier than the mental part! Have a good day my friends. I am buckled down for our 6 β 10 inches expected snow storm. I went out yesterday for all the fresh stuff β eggs-bread-milk so my son & I are prepared.
01/09-DNW-(Trend Weight DNW)- I had to cancel my endocrinologist appt for today. Itβs about 2 hours each way (I live nearly an hour from the freeway). We all knew the snow storm was coming so I cancelled the appt on Monday. Schools are closed today. We got about 9β of the expected 11. Lots of shoveling to do today, luckily my son can help. Snow plow man for the steep hill of a driveway has already been here so I can get out if I need to. My appt is rescheduled for Feb. Probably better if itβs not too close to these food holidays anyway! I ordered my new scale last night. Hopefully it wonβt take too long to get here. I dread starting over with new numbers on a new scale but I have no choice. Yesterday was binge day. No diabetes appt afterall and no scale so I would expect no less from my weak self. I should not have even mentioned the possibility of cheating yesterday. I mean, I put it out there in the Universe, didn't I? Hopefully I got it out of my system and today will be better. Good, now THAT is in the Universe!

Afternoon All,
Late to log inβ¦bizarrely ate more and exercised less but dropped the pound I gained from the day prior so Iβm guessing the efforts just took a day to land! 3 hours of tennis this evening should see a significant calorie deficit in the day.

Jude, 66YO, 5'2"
SW: 147
GW: 142
Hi, this is my first time in this challenge and I'm very happy to be here! I'm 66 YO, 5' 2" and officially overweight (again). I've dieted since I was 11 YO and my mom had a chart on the broom closet wall. I've been through the yo-yo weight gain and loss too many times and it's not healthy. Been as high as 165 (2007), as low as 115 (2008). I gained and lost 15-20 lbs at least 3 times in the last 15 years and that's self-defeating- and not healthy. My main goal now is to lose the weight (yes!) AND change my habits to a sustainable lifestyle that allows me to eat well and maintain my fitness.
Wk 2: 1/8/24:
My goals for this week:
continue my exercise plan
tea after dinner- no food after
weigh every day- and be aware it won't always make me "happy"
log in here every day
1/8: 142.6
1/9: 142.2
1/10:141.4
1/11: 141.4

Week 11/8: First week of my first challenge down! Weighed every day, which is a huge step for me! Learning to use that number as a signal, not a moral judgment. Also, making Monday morning my end of week was a good change- I checked my portions all weekend, made new and interesting recipes that changed things up. Learning to make this a sustainable way of life, not a diet! Only took me 66 years!
Wk1: 1/1/24:
My goals for this week:
* to the gym 4-5 times a week (keeping consistent)
* tea after dinner- no food after.
* weigh every day- which I avoid and then gain
* log in here every dayβ¨
1/1: 146.6

1/3: 144.2
1/4: 144.2
1/5: 143.2
1/6: 143.4
1/7: 142.6
1/7: Met my goals for the first time in a year and a half. Yay! On to week 2!
1/5: I know that this is mostly adjustment of bloat from the holidays, but it's encouraging to see the number drop. A good boost, but the real work will start when the number stabilizes or goes up.
1/3 Yay! Holiday bloat is going, better habits starting. It's as important for me to learn to eat correctly as to lose this weight. I always eat "healthfully" right through dinner and then pound the snacks after dinner, usually more calories in junk than in my daily meals. So my goal this time is to change this self-defeating- and self-deluding- habit.5 -

Jan 2: 163.8 π£ π π₯ π¦ Met my New Year's goal - did a 10K walk yesterday AM. Was ravenous all day, but managed to stay under my calorie limit by 5 calories. I would say a successful day. I'm still .2 pounds away from my lowwest weight (just before Christmas).
Jan 3: 162.8 π π£ π π₯ π¦ Funny thing happened to yesterday. Greg, Monty and I started the Airline Trail today (I am feeling nostalgic so want to do it again, and we started off with a big one day 6.2 miles. When we got back to the car, Greg noticed he didn't have his wallet. Thought he left it on the counter at home. Got home, no wallet, now we think he must have dropped it on the trail as we were walking, so we drove back to the trail at the half way point. Greg went one way - I went the other looking for the wallet, another 3.7 miles and didn't find it. When we got home - Greg remembered he took the truck out yesterday - left it in the center console. LOL! So, my 6.2 walked turned into 9.9, silver linings I guess! Here are some pictures from the walk (the first time).
Jan 4: 162.8 π£ π π₯ π¦
Jan 5 : 163.4 π£ π πͺ π¦ Couldn't sleep, got up, raided the pantry. When I posted last night it triggered me to stop, but a little too late. Today is my rest day. Off to visit my husband's cousin, celebrate Christmas. Will try to get a small walk in this afternoon. Won't be able to weigh everything, but we are bringing lunch with us, so should be able to estimate and log everything.
Jan 6: 162.8 π π₯ Spent yesterday at my husband's eldery cousins house -5 hours in a car, and sitting all day with her - so not much movement yesterday. I did log everything, and used estimates for measuring. I jumped on the treadmill when I got home - got 2 miles in - counting it as my rest day.
Jan 7: 162.8 π£ π π₯ π¦ Just a quiet day at home - hubby was out all day. Finished the book I was reading, waiting for the winter storm to arrive - it came - not as much as expected. Just enough to make it pretty, and for me to get a little strength exercise today shoveling the driveway, but not enough to kill me. Actually looking forward to it. Probably won't get an outside walk today.
Jan 8: 163.6 βΉοΈπ£ π π₯ πͺ Doesn't make sense, but that is what the scale says today - so that's what I am posting.
Jan 9: 163.6 π£ π π₯ πͺ π¦ Had some salty soup (was delicious), so expected the scale to stay the same or go up and it did. Went to Bingo with mom last night - won the door prize ($10). Yahoo. Mom seemed a little down yesterday, hoping all is ok. The arthritis in her hip has been bothering her for years, they give her injections - but the last one didn't really help much. She has her annual appointment with her doctor today - hoping they can figure something out so that she isn't in so much pain everyday.
