    Recap 6/14 F ~ beautiful weather today
    1) Leftover chicken enchiladas for supper / log all food / no crazy snacking ~ ack! cheese & crackers, peanut M&Ms / 80 oz. water :s
    2) Walked dog 3.62 miles :sunglasses: happy dog & happy me
    3) Depoop backyard / weed north corner of berm & pick up all. the. sticks. falling from trees / wash empty milk jug / water all pots / refill watering cans & jug from rain barrels / move pots to proper sun spots / move stuff for hubby as he mows / read / track R2AK / other? washed ALL the dishes, cleaned 5 birdfeeders, made hummer food & refilled feeder, filled new oriole feeder & hung, refilled other feeders, moved unused pots from picnic table to basement storage  TA-DA!

JFT 6/15 Sat. ~ weather so-so, rain showers arriving soon... at least nice this morning for farmers market & breakfast and lunch on the patio
    1) Fresh whitefish & creamed spinach for supper / NO crazy snacking / log all food / 80 oz. water
    2) No dog walk, already at 7,000 steps. Official rest day? PT exercises?
    3) Farmers market & lots of good produce / shop at Sam's Club (something for Father's Day for my dad) / empty kitchen compost bucket in bin / help hubby reset TWO mouse traps in garage (he disposed of the bodies first LOL) / track R2AK / read / other?

Today I tried on new skorts, shorts & dress that I bought at Sam's... horrified at the size I needed to buy. I couldn't put off purchasing any longer even though I'm not losing the weight (because I'm really not eating less calories). My old stuff is just getting too shabby to wear out and about. On the bright side, the skorts are really cute (hubby likes), and the dress was too big so I need to return or exchange for smaller size, which is nice. Maybe this was the wake-up call I needed. Time will tell.

    About me:
    I'm Carmela
This is my lifestyle. It's. Not. A. Diet.
    Height 5'4"
    66 yrs old
Reside in Green Bay, WI, USA

    2024 Goals:
    1) Ultimate goal weight 150#... I'll be thrilled if I can get back down to 160# this year
    • Post weekly weigh-in on MFP for accountability. Saturday a.m. is my "official" weigh-in day, and I track daily on a separate app (for the visual). My digital scale only shows half pound increments & I'm too cheap to buy a fancier scale.
    • Take measurements & log on MFP every month end
    2) Plan meals most days & prelog meals/snacks whenever possible on MFP
    • Try new recipes Unfortunately, no wall oven until mid-Feb or later & sad me, but try slow cooker & stove recipes... wall oven installed 2/26 but no new recipes yet.
      * lentil rice sausage tortellini soup (internet) ~ very good, recipe is keeper
      * glazed lemon cookies (internet search) ~ everyone loved them at Easter dinner
      * rhubarb cobbler (in my first ever cookbook BH&G) ~ very good, I want to try with other fruits this summer
      * yellow cake (BH&G cookbook) ~ I followed instructions closely & blended well, very good with rhubarb sauce
      * white chicken enchiladas (newspaper) ~ very good, although 2 tortillas with recipe as written 846 calories (created in MFP recipes)
    3) Exercise 5-6x per week (minimum 4x):
January: 5 days x2wks, 4x1, 3x1, 1x1 [1 wk lots of snow & 1 wk bitter cold so shoveling, treadmill & PT, 1 wk 4 day trips out of town]
    February: 6 days x1wk, 5x1, 4x1, 2x1 [2 wks overnight trips to visit parents]
March: 5 days x1wk, 4x1, 3x1, 0x1 [ack... prep house & food for Easter dinner; 1 wk overnight trip to visit parents]
April: 4 days x2wks, 3x1, 2x1 [lots of lousy weather, plus 1 wk overnight trip]
May: 6 days x2wks, 3x3 [fit days in around 2 overnight trips & visit on Mother's Day]

      • In 2022 I logged 500.4 miles, or 805km (knee issues).
      5) At least 7,500 steps per day
      • I can earn $10 every month on my Medicare Advantage Plan with 10+ days of 7,500 steps:
        Jan / Feb / Mar / Apr / May / June
      6) Participate in my favorite area races ~ I walk, I do not run
      • Registered early (rats, missed out on waiver of fee) on 12.29.23 for Bellin 10K race on 6.8.24 ~ light rain most of race, steady rain last mile or so :star chip time 1:42:35 ave. pace 16:31 (first half 16:50 second half 16:12) overall 3,136 out of 3,463 / females 1,560 out of 1,792 / F65-69yo 30 out of 48 ~ not as fast as I used to go, but still finished my 27th Bellin overall (their 48th year)

Tim is doing well with the exception of being queasy from the pain meds. He’s going to try to back off of them a bit so he can eat. I just made him a sandwich which seems to be settling well. Keeping the menu simple. I ordered groceries online and V sat with him while I went to pick them up. I’m always a little leery having my t and veggies chosen by someone else, but I have no complaints on this order. It certainly was quicker than shopping myself. It even ended up being cheaper because I used online coupons which I tend not to do when I go in person.

Exercise is not happening, but I’m cooking meals instead of going out so that is better.

Hope y’all have a great weekend.

    JFT Saturday
    - keep up with meds, there are a bunch
    - Make breakfast
    - Shop
    - Roasted chicken & baked potatoes for dinner.

Tim is doing pretty well. It’s weird because he’s usually the one who takes care of me. He cooks and makes sure I take my meds. Now it’s a role reversal, and I struggle a little, but actually I’m enjoying cooking again. Early in out marriage I always cooked because I stayed home with the kids and was a homemaker. I was worried I’d forgot how, but dinner was quite good last night and I even made stock from the left over roasted chicken. I’ll make soup for lunch using it. I may even make homemade noodles because I’m not sure we have any. Then shrimp, mashed potatoes and asparagus for dinner. Well depending on how he feels, trying to pick things that are easy on the stomach. He is still struggling with nausea.

    JFT Sunday
    - make breakfast
    - Admin needs

    - Laundry
    - Make chicken noodle soup
    - Clean up
    - Nap

I am guessing the scale is going to be unkind tomorrow morning. Had family in town all weekend, didn't eat bad but didn't eat as structured as I normally would. Ate way too many calories today . It wasn't bad food but more than I normally have been eating. I tried to stay on track and drink water but today ended up over 2000 calories..Supposed to be at 1500) I feel stuffed and bloated and so I went for a walk. Going to finish with some ginger tea to help the stomach

I really need to get back to posting on here... I've been in an emotional eating frenzy since we got back from our trip to Michigan. I don't know why I do this.. and then I feel awful. OK.. this morning... there were 2 pieces of Silk Chocolate Pie leftover from our daughters birthday. I keep telling her to take it home, but she hasn't. So this morning... I ate both pieces. My thinking.. I need this out of the house. But then I should have tossed it in the trash instead of eating it! Yesterday was just as bad... we did fondue, and our meals are pretty healthy. But while at the grocery store, I bought a snickers ice cream bar... I had it eaten before I even got it home. so this is my problem... a closet eater... and emotional eater... whatever it is, I am again out of control.
So while I already have probably eaten 1000 calories already, I will try and log my food today, and attempt to get back on track.
Life is not without emotions. I need to learn better that it is OK to feel sad.. that food will not fix this. It is OK to have a day where I just don't have the energy do to things.. food will not fix this. It is Ok to feel upset about something that has happened... food will not fix these emotions. Until I feel my food as comfort... it will never end. It is OK to worry about our daughter.. but food will not help with the worry, or fix her and her problems. It is OK to worry about our son, and wish we had a closer relationship with him... but food is not going to change that one bit.

No recap, since i didn't post or log yesterday, which was Father's Day (U.S.). After church, hubby and I made our sandwich lunches to take with us (my sister & BIL do the same, so our folks don't have to worry about feeding us). Then we went to visit my parents (85 mile drive). Glad to see aunt, all three brothers and their (2) wives, sister & her hubby. It was a very sedentary day, including extra mileage for a detour due to bridge being replaced that I did not know about before. Only got 4,242 steps. Balanced somewhat by Saturday's 9,273 steps on a REST day lol.

I showed sister a photo given to me by Mom, that had been returned to her by long-time friend cleaning stuff out. Youngest SIL decided we needed to re-create the photo (61 years later), which was very fun. Since parents still live in the same house, even more special. Youngest brother wasn't born yet, he didn't come along for another 11 months. Sharing here for kicks:

@cschmitz110515 I really like those recreation photos that people do. And how special for you that you are in front of the same family home, now you have 2 memories!

Like @mytime6630, I need to get back to posting. Had family here for 6 weeks, and we had lots of meals out...and lots of birthday cake! But they've gone home now so no excuses. I've started cutting down again the last few days. I haven't exercised much as sciatica has flared up badly and I've been having to visit the osteopath again.

I've only looked back a few pages. @pridesabtch, so pleased for you that Tim's op went well and there was no infection. What a relief.

Well I've just found out that my son and his family will need to move in with me for at least 5 weeks this summer. That's 5 people and 2 large dogs, and it will be school holidays, so it will be a hectic house! A big change from living on my own, I've never lived with that many people at once lol. I imagine it will be harder to log calories because I won't always be preparing the meals. A good compromise will be No snacking, meals only.

It's already 7pm so not setting goals today.

Some things you can't always account for. You just have to roll with it then get straight back to it when you can!
It was the same for me this weekend, we didn't have the kids and we actually had money 😂 so me and my partner went on a "date weekend" I suppose you could call it.
We went out drinking, we had good food! We went shopping and had more food and went shopping again... And more food.

But we had a healthy breakfast and didn't OVER eat I guess but we didn't exactly have healthy food! But we really really enjoyed ourselves!

So today... I will rest because I am tired. I will not feel that I have to get a lot of work done, or have a productive day. I will not let family upset me.I will not turn to food for comfort.
I will log all my food today.. not matter what, and strive for healthy eating, with lots of water. That is what will make me feel better ... not eating junk food to mask the emotions.

Lots of hugs for you Joan!!

    How about remembering this...

"The foods that make me feel better, also make me feel sad".

Because they DO make you feel better, it IS a comfort thing.. but that same food also makes you feel sad after!

So when you want to have the pie or the ice-cream just remember.. "okay you'll make me feel good now... But not later".

    You got this Joan!
