I'm getting stuff done! Yay! I tossed the flowers and the very old leftovers. And my dad took a load to Goodwill. So the next thing is those thank you cards.

Hmm... dilemmas - I need to run to the store, but I have deliveries coming in, and I'd really rather be here when they get here. But they're slated between now and 2:30, and I really want to go before the store gets busy. Murphy's Law says the minute I leave, the deliveries will show up. I don't HAVE to be here to sign for them, but if I am, I can have them put them under the carport where they won't interfere with Corey parking. Now, I can have Corey stop at the store on the way home, but I generally go out of my way to not do that if I can help it. Well... I'll give them until 11:30, and then dash out and hope for the best.
Sometimes I marvel at how truly trivial my decisions are these days.
But, as usual, y'all inspired me, and I made my third session on the elliptical this week, one of my goals. I am always grateful.
Baby steps are still steps...
Later,
Love,

Heather - thanks for sharing the pictures.
Pip - I’m excited to see the changes, you and Kirby have good eyes. “Manager on an email”. Love that one. 😂
Terri - feel better soon.
Ginny - is that the area you were thinking of moving to?
Rosemarie - that’s a nice little surprise. Maybe you can practice some yoga in the meantime.
Yes I am using a night splint for the Plantar fasciitis. I am also really working on my calf because the tightness there really contributes to it.
Machka - I so want to make a dollhouse for Michaela. I love those ideas.
Heather - good luck with getting the book sorted out, I’m sure you’ll be fine.
Lanette - I have a pair of knock off Birkenstocks I’ve been wearing in the house. I also have slippers but have insoles in them.
The other day, the massage lady told my I also have fallen arches and that can cause the Plantar Fasciitis, one of best treatment for fallen arches I guess is walking barefoot. Which I love, but it’s been aggravating the PF. I really think I need to see a podiatrist but I just don’t have the money for it currently.
I have heard great things about the weighted vests. I imagine they would take getting used to though.
Kelly - nice to see you pop in. I talk a lot, so I don’t know what I may have said. 😂
You’ve connected with me quite a few times too.
Lisa - it’s taken a long time to get your furniture parts! I hope you are able to enjoy your sunroom this weekend.
That’s a lot of rain
I hope you can get to the store and the delivery waits for you.
Finished another session this morning. I should have the final mark this afternoon. It should be over 90%. I’m hoping anyway. There is one assignment he is still marking. Everything else has been 100% except one was 23/25.
I have to go to Costco today and I also have to prepare the house for the drywall guy tomorrow. I’m trying to decide which activity to do first. I know both will aggravate my foot.
Costco sucks
The fund is $10,001 this morning!!!!!

Woo-hoo on the fund! What a great barrier to get over!
My boxes got here (😀), but the glasses weren't delivered (🤨). A talk with my daughter delayed me from leaving just long enough for the big boxes to get here. All things balance out in the end 🙃. Do the Costco thing first and get it over with - you can always sit down in between parts of prepping for the drywall guy. No such thing at Costco, unless you can get someone to push you in the cart. 😀😈
Time to head for the store...
Love y'all!

Lisa Yay for another elliptical session!
I'm going to do my thank you cards just as soon as I finish reading Facebook. Really.

I like walking, hiking, running on hardpacked trails, beaches, sidewalks, and roads.
I've done both road running and trail running, and I prefer trail running provided the trail is in good condition.
I also like walking and running using my treadmill when the weather is bad or it is dark outside.
I'm not overly keen on walking on grass, although if it is well-mowed and short, it's OK. Chances are, I won't turn an ankle or encounter a snake if the grass is really short.

Well I worked on thank you cards and I'm down to two missing addresses that I requested. And I am making good progress on my special wash laundry pile. And I had my first spinach shake in many moons. Let's hope that's a sign that my diet is improving.
And I got a card from an old boyfriend that made me happy. 😊

Annie - good job on the Thank You cards. And now nice to get a card from an old boyfriend.
Kelly - I keep forgetting to ask you: Did you get any inquiries from your TV appearance? Any more kids? And, did Lauren and family get moved back up to Michigan?
Shiitake mushrooms. Have any of you ever cooked with them and if so, how? Add to stir fries? Saute them? I keep reading how nutritious they are. Debbie and Rebecca and others - you might have some ideas for me.

Is it possible to get a carer to take him to the pool?
Or maybe for an hour of activity a day ... walking, swimming, etc.

Husbands?-I do not plan on another one. For one selfish reason, I don't care to bury another. Another reason (also maybe selfish) is it's nice not having to answer to someone. Might enjoy someone to just hang out with but no desire to go hunting,
Take care all,

I'm with you.
My current husband is 12 years older than me with an injury that they tell me will have shortened his life. I expect that he'll go before me.
If that happens, my plan is to get a nice small place that's easy to take care of and enjoy doing whatever I like doing.

However I wanted to share that recently I learned the travel group Road's Scholar had a caregiver grant and that you could apply for consideration up to two years a widow. So I filled out the application and looked at the trips. I decided I really wasn't up to seeing a city and traveling alone. I also thought if I selected an inexpensive location this might increase my chances of getting the grant.
So I selected a yoga retreat near Asheville NC. I like Asheville. This retreat is available in August which is quite depressing in Middle GA because of the heat.
I was informed today that I received the grant! I am so excited! Of course this means, I need to do some yoga. I was trying to do yoga..yoga on a Peloton app I think ...about 2 years ago...and the instructors were going so fast and getting down on the floor and up much faster than I could possibly do. I got discouraged. I hope this retreat isn't like this! It does say Beginners are welcome! I haven't done a downward facing dog in ages!
I am pretty excited!
Best,
Rosemarie
My in-person instructors in the yoga classes I've taken have been very good. I'd recommend taking a class that is for beginners and before you sign up, ask about the pace.

Worked then the soup kitchen. Stopped at the bowling alley to see about prebowling but it was about ¾ crowded, so went to Michael’s where I needed a picture frame so I got one for $3. Then went to Kohl’s where I got this “tooth pillow” for PJ (since he’ll soon be losing his teeth) for a little under $2. Then we prebowled. Came home, had dinner, worked some on the x-stitch for the lady who took care of my father. Now here but will soon take a shower and get to bed.
Weather was great, in the 70’s. But it’s not supposed to be this way for a while.
Debbie - enjoy, even if it is short.
Rosemarie – well, my neighbor resolved the orthotic issue and next wednesday I get the tooth pulled so that’ll be taken care of. I understand he likes it to heal before he puts in whatever he will put in so that the teeth don’t grow together. I guess it’ll be a blessing that we’re in FL so it’ll heal by the time I get back.
Kylia – I know this is late, but hamsters DO freeze. I found this out when we were living in the Poconos and a hamster died in the winter and the ground was so frozen that we couldn’t bury it so we froze it until the ground thawed
Lanette – I don’t know about the bridge. I’m thinking that might be a good option. I’m supposed to talk to the dentist on Wednesday before the removal. What are you doing for your calf?
I realized that there is practically no tread on my work shoes and that’s why I slipped today so after prebowling bought 2 more pairs of sneakers.
Just skimming because realized I need to empty the dishwasher
Annie – You’re really going
Made hard boiled eggs in the IP earlier
Update on Jerry saga - I understand that he was told he had to move his tent. Now this I didn't know, but the land he was on is BK land, and, of course, they don't want it to become a haven for the homeless. Have no idea what he's going to do. He did come to work Tuesday and B was doing his job and Jerry's. When he asked Jerry to punch in Jerry said "I will when the truck comes (their delivery). I understand that he didn't come to work yesterday, and I didn't see him today. Who knows? Tuesday A asked him to open the container of pickles for me, what he did was he went outside to sweep the parking lot. I called and called to him, but he totally ignored me and went doing what he wanted to do. It would have taken a minute, they were all ready just needed to be opened. Oh well......

And, he was so pleased to get them in that he put them together. We spent a couple hours out there, before and after dinner. I am a lucky woman.

Rebecca: LOL, I have not thought about Burt Reynolds in years!
Lisa: The furniture looks good and so glad you and your husband are spending hours together. I wish you could somehow bottle those hours and your time together. So very precious!
Machka: I am so amazed at how active you are and all your many interests! I am all in on the yoga retreat so probably won't know the pace until I get there! I will just have to do yoga every day and go from there.
My son is coming at 1 tomorrow and I am having lunch with a friend. I have the remaining clutter tucked away but have not cleaned. I hope I can get back to sleep. I told myself I would clean like a cleaner does and go non-stop for two hours when I first wake up. This should be interesting!
If I am not alseep in 20 minutes I will get up and begin cleaning.

My book is submitted for review and will soon be available on Amazon in paperback and on Kindle.
I did the cover and Kindle just now.
Phew!
This is the blurb for 'NOW I AM - To everything there is a season ....'
In NOW I AM Heather Eyles shares with her readers the therapeutic adventures that have made the most difference to her life. She also takes an honest look at those practices that failed. Heather does not present a rigid template to follow, but offers a compassionate, flexible itinerary through the seasons of life. The narrative of her personal experience of moving from a severely toxic childhood to self-knowledge and peace, includes the wisdom she has gleaned from ancient minds, pioneering practitioners, and her own deep dive into writing her healing memoirs. Heather warmly encourages us to have the courage to go deeper, in order that we can rise to live in a world that looks exactly the same, but is transformed.
Now I need to breathe....

Good Saturday,
Stayed focused at work yesterday, yeah! But was mainly computer work, exhausting! I just couldn't get my feet to cooperate past 7k steps. Hit my other targets though.
The difference between a great book and one that doesn't grab my attention.....1 day start to finish vs 4 days to get in 25 pages. I started book 2 of the series last night, then realized it was midnight and I needed to sleep-lol!
Have to get ready for work.
Page 62
Keep moving forward! Some days we will run, others we walk, and then there are the shuffle days. Just keep moving!

Tracey-actually kids are talking about living around where I am now-my move spot would be further from them. I need to see how serious they are-them living within 15 minutes would change things somewhat. All I am thinking is that is perhaps good I have had some of the indecisiveness and waiting. Things do work out as they are supposed to.
Rosemarie-a friend from college has done several of the Rhodes Scholar events. As a single woman she finds it a nice way to travel a bit. Congrats on getting scholarship!
Lanette-what type of weighted vest did you get and how much weight? I keep looking at them . . .
Heather-glad your latest book is moving into production.
Annie-it is so good reading you are getting back on track! You have such excitement for what you do it encourages me. Doing what you are doing will help you get used to this new phase of life. It sounds like your dad is also finding ways to adapt.
Pip-can't wait to see improvements. It sounds like Kirby is being very sensible-not starting without checking monies. Just let him go!
PT worked on foot more yesterday. We can't figure out what got it flared up. It is possible that it has taken a long while for it to get to this point and it will take time to get maximum improvement. Going to journal daily symptoms and activities and weather and stuff. It did not disrupt sleep last night but is throbbing this morning. Working on my list of chores for the weekend. Check book and bills done, laundry started. Kitchen next!
Take care all,

Good morning ladies!
Well my dad had an adventure last night. He left sometime after four to walk to Starbucks. At 7:30 the YMCA called me and said he needed a ride home. He got lost in the dark and the fog and his dementia and walked in circles.
He was exhausted but not sorry. He feels like he just made a little wrong turn. He was so wobbly he could barely stand up.
And I won't be able to talk to him today because his hearing aids are not in the charger. I looked at GPS trackers yesterday but they all need charging. He got rid of his phone because he couldn't remember how to turn it on. He won't even carry my phone number, they called the house phone which I don't usually answer.
Eventually he is going to have an accident because he is reckless and I can't stop him. We had agreed that he wouldn't leave our development months ago, but he must have forgotten. He's like a toddler.
I guess I shouldn't worry so much about what I can't control. He is going to keep doing this until he can't anymore. Maybe I should be grateful for his health and strength.
Thanks for letting me rant. He's been late before, but this is the first time I had to pick him up. I normally don't drive at night because my vision is lousy, but it wasn't far and I made it.
I'm going out to lunch today. I will likely eat more calories than I burned all week on the bike. But it's getting better.
Have a great day,
Annie in Delaware9 -
Just had to tell my DH that he needs to quit drinking....his AST was 89! ALT was 59! A1C up to 6.3. I am a mess anxiety wise. It could be liver, diabetes, weight, or cholesterol meds, but combined with his sleeping so much have me stressed. He sees his gp on the 5th. I keep trying to get him to walk for 20 mins a day fast, but he says that he gets his steps in. I get that, but he does no exercise specifically to get his HR up.
I may be fighting a migraine...took meds...vould just be anxiety, but med won't hurt.
Time to leave for work.
Love you all!
Kylia8 -
Dad came down to breakfast all dressed for Sunday church on a Saturday. Things are going downhill.
Annie in Delaware9 -
Kylia: I hope you are able to avoid a migraine. I guess it is part of the journey of many of our lives that we worry about our DH's health. I understand how stressful this is. Be pleased with any gains you are able to make. Several of my friends can't get their DH's to take care of themselves at all.
Annie: I don't know. This is pretty discouraging about your Dad. He is at a pretty dangerous point because he has dementia and yet he is active. In a way I admire his determination to continue to be active. What is the Department of Family and Children like in your area or social services. In some areas they might want to become involved and have meetings with you about your Dad's future care. In other areas they are overwhelmed and you would not be on their radar in the least. What does the GP/primary doctor say? Would he give your Dad a sleeping pill so he would be sedated at night.
Again I rather admire your Dad. My grandfather walked out of a nursing home and started thumbing home. My parents were very upset about this. I always rather admired my grandfather for having the guts to try it.
Best,
Rosemarie from Georgia
