    ChrisS_51 Welcome

Time waits for no one. 13 days to go in September. Is anyone up for a challenge in October? Does anyone have an idea for an October Challenge?

I will continue my August Challenge no sugary or starchy foods

I will continue our September Challenge 30 minutes of movement 3 x per week

Hope everyone had a great day

    day 15

    Chair yoga 45 min

    Walk 45 min

Good luck with the internet situation.

Contractors will be here the rest of the week. May have to try walking after hours in our increasingly shorter daylight period.

No treadmill today. No excuse….just didn't do it.

We have a couple of pear trees that are part of the little orchard we have. They were planted quite a few years ago and not edible in my opinion. I'm sure there are other varieties out now that are much better. The trees are huge though and beautiful when in full bloom so we keep them. Hubby was just scooping up the fallen pears and pitching them into the bush beside them. I checked the area today and all the pears have disappeared. I think a black bear is coming in and eating them. Will be watching that area more carefully in the future.

Internet guy had some vehicle type issue so rescheduled for tomorrow morning. I ordered a different d-link from amazon and should be here by Saturday. I was going to wait and get advice from the technician but decided to just order and if it doesn't work, I can return.

Talking about exercise … I missed doing my leg and feet exercises the day before yesterday (super busy morning) and in the afternoon developed pains on the bottoms of my feet that kept me from sleeping that night.
Being still in pain the next day, I tried wearing sneakers instead of house shoes and it did help for a while but after a few hours my feet hurt too much to keep any footwear on. I decided to tough it out through the pain to do a whole bunch of leg and foot exercises.
Guess what; about an hour afterwards the pain went away Hooray today I am pain-free so far. How about that!
that’s a good reminder to make time for my e ercises!

it may not be every day; we just get the exercise in when we can

    Enjoy your day

    day 18. Walk 45 min.

Crazy day—contractors, car problems, vaccines. Forced an evening walk in case I feel out of it tomorrow

Nsk — bummer about the pain, but sounds like you found the solution. It is hard to know when to rest and when to plow on!

Back online now. Was disconnected yesterday as internet guy came out and replaced the unit on our roof then informed me that the router I have wouldn't work with the new equipment. I had already ordered a new one from amazon and it was expected today. I am annoyed that they didn't inform me of this when the work was scheduled. I would have delayed it until I got the new router.

Picked up the router this morning and tried setting it up. Had problems so called the internet provider which proved to be useless as I couldn't understand the tech support person. Struggled through myself and finally got the internet connected on all our devices including the tv's. Took about and hour and a half and I'm sure a more tech savvy person could have had it all set up in 15 minutes. Felt good when everything was working. Much stronger signal and faster speed. We stream our tv viewing and I'm sure we are going to see a difference. Live out in the boonies but get high speed internet which is nice.

    Did treadmill yesterday and today.

Got a lot of exercise in at the cardiology office yesterday. He's a well respected doctor, one of the reasons why being that he gives attention to each of his patients; but is always running late. I did my leg and feet exercises in the waiting room and my upper body exercises in the exam room … and got in a good 40 minutes worth of seated activity in. I've done well enough in the last 2 months that I don't have to see him again for another 6 months; of course as long as I continue as I am.

Made a veggie pasta salad to have for lunches this past week. I had wanted to add some ham or cheese to it, but didn't have any on hand and didn't miss it either. It's a recipe I'll have to remember and repeat.

    Have a great weekend everyone.

day 19: 65 min. Walk. Beautiful day but because of drought there is no mud on any trail and it feels strange.

Surprisingly I did not feel flu-like from the shots today. Just some arm soreness.

    Good job Internet techie!

Hard to exercise if something hurts. Glad it is getting better.

Made 5 jars of corn salsa. It is a lot of work but tasty.

Treadmill 25 minutes. With the new router I am able to watch a movie on my ipad without having to download it first.

Melody corn salsa sounds amazing! When will your contractors be done?

GR8 hope you heal quickly. Difficult to do very much when in pain.

NSK sounds like you had a good check up. Well done on the exercise.

Off to visit family tomorrow for granddaughter's eleventh birthday celebration. Looking forward to that. Bought her a nice large set of coloured markers and pencils along with a selection of colouring books. I'm sure she will enjoy. I have a few pieces of her artwork on my fridge as she is always drawing/colouring when she visits.

    day20–60 min. Canoeing

We found out that a park we like was going to stay open later for canoe rentals so we had a lovely late afternoon canoe experience. Most times rentals are only available during peak burning hours.

Contractors will be here next week. Looking forward to having the work done.

It is great to know how much children still enjoy creating art!

    Canoeing sounds wonderful.

Busy day visiting with family. No treadmill but will get back to it tomorrow. Grand daughter loved her markers and books. Even the 14 and 25 year old grands were colouring. Quite funny to see.

    Back to my treadmill….25 minutes.

Sunny, warm day here too but I think it may be coming to an end as getting cooler later in the week. Fall is definitely in the air.

    Treadmill 25 min.

Good you got some rain. Still quite dry here. Quiet day as hubby is out working on the field. Took down my hummingbird feeder and washed it up for the year. Haven't seen any hummingbirds for a few weeks now so I'm sure they have all headed south for the winter.

    Day 23–chair yoga 45 min.

More rain, more errands. Hard to fit a walk in.

I see hummingbirds here so rarely!

    day 24: walking 50 min.

Errands, chores, went to the movies.

Supposed to rain tomorrow. Doing a volunteer thing all morning. Not sure if I will be able to exercise.

Cool overnight. Had to turn the furnace on this morning.

Weight has been bouncing from 168 to 167 the last few days. Looks like it has settled back down to 167. I think the closer i get to my goal weight, the harder it is to get off. I think my eating and exercise plan is working though. Just taking longer to see results. Have dr appt next week and will have blood work done. Will be interesting to see what A1C is. He will probably adjust my thyroid med down abit as I know dosage is weight based.

My new travel friend sent me a note that she booked Switzerland tour and will go on that before joining up with me in Munich. She has 4 days inbetween the 2 tours so is looking at things to do until then. Said she might go to Austria. She's a traveller for sure.

Treadmill 25 minutes. Went out for supper this evening with hubby. Had a nice steak dinner.

Windy here today and lots of leaves flying around. Covered up the a/c unit outside and turned it off as it’s the end of the season.

Good your contractors are working out well for you , Melody. I’m sure you will be glad when everything is done.

day 26. No real exercise today—too much going on. But at least the contractors are done! Very nice work.

Still warmish here. My kind of temps. Went to hear some music tonight.

went for a 15 minute walk in the sun today. That felt good. The first 5 min were really hard and so were the last 2 or 3. My shoulders were really aching from supporting my weight on the rolator grip bars.
later, my son came over for a visit and ended up ordering an upright rolator for me. It’ll arrive next week. The nice thing about them is you are fully upright and put your forearms onto cradles at elbow height so the weight is off your wrists and shoulders. I have high hopes that it’ll work out well for me. It is a lot heavier though, coming in at 30 pounds, so I won’t be able to collapse it and pick it up to put into my car trunk. At least that’s what I’m thinking.

it’s October on Wednesday! Only 3 months until 2026! I’d really like to make a 3 month goal that is weight loss related but am hesitant to do so. Instead, I will make it my goal for the month of October to stay in better control of my daily calories. I want to stay at my goal of 1500 with a small 50 calorie allowance up or down.

and since I will have a new walking support to get used to, I want to pledge daily walks either indoors or out to get used to it. My preference is to have outdoor walks in the sun of at least 15 minutes to as long as I can go at it.

i would rather walk outside than inside too. You are doing great. Hope the new support helps!

Day 27. Walk 75 min. Gave in and had free ice cream.

Joy steak dinner sounds delicious. I'm due for one, it's been a while since hubby and I went out for dinner.

Melody I'm looking forward to ice cream 😋, once I get my numbers in check.

nsk hope new rollator works for you.

Got some walking in this week. I've been thinking about my October challenge haven't come up with anything yet, but I'm working on it. Still going to continue with no sweet or starchy foods and 30 minutes of movement 3 x a week.
